This is the first book in the Creatures of Darkness series. A Wicked Hunger is a full length novel (of 350 pages) but it does end in a cliffhanger so you will want to pick up the second in the series, A Wicked Night. The story drew me in right from the start - fast action, vampires, witches, intrigue and super-hot romance. I'm looking forward to reading the other books in the series. in the Creatures of Darkness series.

A bit disappointed that the book did not finished there and we now have to wait for a second book to find what happens to Cora. All in all it's not a bad vampire book. Good premises I guess for the second book. The chemistry between Cora and Mason was bang on but I didn't expected to have Knox joined in the mixt of things.
I voluntarily reviewed this book and this is my own opinion.

I really wanted to like this story but I had so many issues with it I just couldn’t. First, the main character Coraline is such a helpless wish-washy person, I couldn't relate to her. For someone who had been through so much trauma and tragedy in her life, I expected her to be much stronger and independent but she flits along and let’s the other characters tell her what to do and where to go. They are constantly under attack but we don’t know why or by whom.. The story is based upon an investigation of the illegal selling of vampire blood but we never hear about the investigation and nothing ever seems to happen in that thread. The bulk of the story takes place in a magical house where the three occupants and a ghost constantly are at each other’s throats. Cora inadvertently gets bonded to not one but two dominating vampires and is forced to feed them. Neither one of them takes responsibility for the bonding and one blames Cora instead of himself. This sets up a reverse harem situation with one man being hostile and belligerent. I didn’t like any of the characters because they all seemed shallow. The men are too domineering and Cora puts up with it. In this generation of #MeToo its insensitive. She is supposedly a witch but we never see her use her power successfully. Is she turning into a vampire? We’ll never know. What does the ghost in the house want? Who knows? I personally dislike cliffhangers. It wouldn’t have been so egregious if at least one issue had been resolved in this story but nothing happened and nothing was resolved. The writing style is good but the author isn’t giving out enough detail and isn’t advancing the story so I really don’t care what happens next. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me an ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

When vampire Damien is tasked with protecting human Coraline, the pair couldn't think of anything worse. Coraline is afraid of the Vampires that are known to the human world, and Damien shares no love lost with humans, so things get off to a frosty start.

Things soon start to heat up and Damien and Coraline begin to warm to each other in this suspenseful and steamy paranormal romance! I enjoyed the originality of the story line and felt the writing style was incredibly engaging.

I loved watching Damien and Coraline's relationship blossom and loved that Damien was able to show Coraline that not all Vampires are the dark, scary creatures they are thought to be.

As always, there are twists and things are never quite as they seem, causing suspense and drama.

An action packed and suspenseful read for anyone who enjoys the paranormal genre and for anyone who loves Vampire stories!

I love the dynamic between Cora and Mace. Cora is a strong woman who's survived a lot and still manages to keep fighting. I love that Mace encourages her to believe more in herself and to be more confident. As any book by Kiersten Fay A Wicked Hunger is wicked good. The chemistry between the characters is setting the pages on fire and the plot is captivating from page 1.

The Creatures of Darkness series has the real potential to be a fun and sexy new paranormal-verse!

The blurb for A Wicked Hunger totally sucked me in. The world-building was unique and the book was not bogged down with data overload as well as well-timed piecing of the information. The characters were unique and each had their own voice and thoughts. And for the most part, I really enjoyed the story. I knew there was going to be a cliff-hanger, which I hate! But, was willing to overlook it for the potential for a new paranormal series. But slowly throughout the book, we began to gather certain paranormal pitfalls that I am just not that into. At around 80% I'd pretty much had it. At that point, my list of not my bag stuff had grown so large (see below) plus the idea of of a cliffhanger plus figuring out that the heroine was going to be "kidnapped" by the antagonist as a plot device to further continue on of the not my bag items--- I quit. Sorry. I'm sorry. I know, I just couldn't anymore. The risk of throwing my e-reader was strong.

Not my Bag
* inadvertent bonding without consent that REQUIRES one person to be basically cattle to the other,
* leader forcing other unknown person to be cattle to 2 other someones without talking to said cattle
* an orgasmic bite- which is fine in itself but when used to sexually abuse others,
* ménage/reverse harem situations,
* sexual abuse
* possessing people/controlling them
* cliffhangers

This was totally a 'it's me, not you' situation. I got sucked in by the blurb and thought I could handle the cliffhanger. I was so excited about a new paranormal series I didn't do a ton of research before selecting and I didn't know this would be leading to a reverse harem sitch. One or two things from the above list I can usually overlook for the whole of the book (Kresley Cole pretty much rubs up against that line pretty consistently) but there were just too many factors adding up. My e-reader was at risk! I do want to read more from this author and think I may skip the next two and jump into the 4th installment Keeping His Siren.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and publisher for this generously provided ARC!

This book threw you head first into a world where vampires are a separately governed race that everyone knows about, and most are terrified of (or want to be and/or be with).

We join Cora on what may be the worst day of her life. She used to be homeless, having been orphaned at a young age, before meeting her husband. What she thought may be (or become) a marriage of love ended up being more one of some strange convenience. She can't really see what value she is adding to his life, but wants more, which is what leads her to surprise him on a business trip. Things quickly go out of control, leading to him being killed and her being taken into protective custody. Turns out - her husband had a lot of secrets. She's got some, too.

Mason is the vampire cop-type-person assigned to watch Cora to see if she is in on her husband's illegal business. He, naturally, falls in love with her, so jumps at the chance to safeguard her from the bad guys. While on the run, there is a lot of sexual tension, some sexy times, a lot of emotional baggage, and that's even before they get to the safe house! Once there, even more gets revealed, and then there's oodles of drama brought in by Knox, a vampire sibling of Mason's.

I'm struggling to review this one because the book ends very abruptly. Just when I thought I might be rooting for the always in trouble Cora, we had reached the end. Nothing was actually resolved and I feel... a little lost. Overall, I like the idea the world presented to me, but the characters were getting on my last nerve. Hopefully things resolve quickly at the start of book two, because I feel like there is a lot still to come for Cora and her boys.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

This book kind of has me confused as it shows a publication date of 10/10/19, but when I view it on Amazon, I see it was originally published in 2015, so is this a re-published book? I also did not know that this was book one in a series and that it ended with a cliffhanger.

What I did read was interesting and kept me entertained but really not much happened in the book. Cora meets Mace and they become bonded by sharing blood and they find out that she is a witch with her powers bound.

Most of the first half of the book, Mace and Cora are running for their lives and we never did find out who was giving the assassins their location. Then, enter Knox, who also accidentally blood bonds with Cora and he is the total opposite of Mace. Where Mace loves Cora, Knox wants to kill her to solve the blood bond issue.

For me, there was too many things left unresolved - I am guessing that book 2 will reveal more - but am not going to be buying the next books in the series so I don't know how this will get resolved.!

This starts out with lots of action some bloody sexy Alpha male characters and a slightly wimpy female lead. (I'll come back to her).

The story line itself is a wonderful tangle of action and deception.
So many bloody delightful characters each with their own seemingly individual agendas brought together - Some willing -Others not so much.
Cora it seems may be the last pawn on the game board, as her past is revealed her future becomes questionable.
Mason is the vampire equivalent of the law and it seems he has his own agenda.
Knox also has his own agenda that seems a bit more sinister as well as what may be a bitter backstory with Mason.
Oh, and someone is not playing nice.

It's a lot at once.
Normally this would bother me! It didn't here. Fay wove the story flawlessly. Introducing each subplot in a way that gave me just enough to elongate my fangs but not enough to quench my thirst.
This ends on a cliffy - but I expected that - it's a first in series

Now let's move on to Cora...
At some time in her life before we met her someone removed her spine. There were moments I wasn't sure how she functions daily. As the story progresses though she seems to be regrowing that backbone. Sure she regresses on occasion but I think (I hope) as time goes on and secrets are revealed she will find her inner tigress.
Mason starts out totally bad arse, I liked his whatever don't mess with me vibe. Slowly though he melts.. he doesn't totally 'kitten' out but there are times I question if he was body swapped
Knox is all Alpha all the time and he has no (you know) to give. I can't wait to find out his story

I will definitely be grabbing the next in series. The possibilities with this cast and the paths that have been laid out are endless!

After being pleasantly surprised with Keeping His Siren, I requested A Wicked Hunger from Kiersten Fay. Sad to say, that this one was less interesting than Keeping His Siren. Partly because the story ends in a cliffhanger, so I'm still not sure in how this story will end.
We meet Coraline who decides to surprise her husband in some sexy lingerie in his hotel. However, just as she is to enter his room, she is kidnapped by vampires. Across the hallway they keep her in a room with cameras on her husband's room. Showing some hooker having fun with her husband. But before Cora can form a decision on how to react, some people enter the room and kill her husband and his company. When the Vampire Enforcement Agency (VEA) realizes that someone is also trying to kill Cora, she is taken to a safehouse by the disturbingly handsome vampire Mason.
Cora has had some horrendous history with vampires, therefore she really doesn't want to go to a safehouse with Mace. But ever since he has saved her life now twice, she grudgingly admits in going with him. In the safehouse she meets Knox, another vampire. He seems to really hate her, especially after he has saved her life when someone shoots her.
It turns out, that Cora is not a regular human. But she is much more... How the story will play out, you have to find out for yourself. But I guess you need to read more books in this series to find out. Three out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

I have read two other books by Kiersten Fay, so I was fairly excited for this one. While the other books I read involved Evernight (a club owned and run by vampires), this one was in a different setting.
First off, I didn’t know this was a trilogy, so fair to say I was a bit bummed by the ending. Though if trilogies and cliffhangers are for you, Go For It!
This book is about Mason and Coraline. Coraline had been married for about seven months when her husband was murdered in front of her. Those same people who killed him are after her now and Mason is the only one willing to help her.
There was that steamy, paranormal romance I was expecting. Other than that, I didn’t find any of the characters unique or worth remembering, which is why this feels completely different from the Evernight books. There were twists and turns and “shocking” revelations which weren’t that shocking because hints started at least two pages before the actual revelation so the surprise element was not there.
In the end, I did like the story, it was just the characters which made it bad. Some personality would have done wonders here.

Coraline is recently married and upon a surprise visit to her husband's hotel there was a lot she didn't know about...for instance the Vampire Enforcement has been watching her and her husband. Her husband has also been having an affair since before they married and the good ole V.E.A thinks she's apart of it too. The only person who suspects her innocence is the Vampire Enformcenet officer who has been surveilling her for months- Mason. After witnessing her husband's death, Coraline forms an unlikely relationship with Mason. Soon he too begins to suspect not everything is how it appears. Struggling against all odds, who can they trust?

This was a fun paranormal romance. I could definitely see this as a series with room to grow. I really enjoyed this book- it quickly captured my attention from the start. It slightly reminded me of the Vampire Diaries and The Originals because there were so many plot twists. I really stayed involved as the reader and became invested in Coraline. The author did a great job of dropping plot twists to keep the reader suspecting and always asking questions.

I would rate this book a 4 out of 5 stars. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. #NetGalley

This is my second book by this author. I do like vampire romances. It seems this genre brings with it, steamy romance, angsty moments, great characters. My thoughts on this novel: it was good. I loved the plot twists, as I was kept guessing. I will definitely pick up the next book in the series so I can find out what happens! It kept me entertained for several hours!

I enjoyed this book a lot. The writing was fun and the plot a great combination of dystopian and paranormal romance. I enjoyed the characters so much I immediately went out and downloaded the others in the series. I eagerly await more from this author and can wait to read her other books that are currently out. Thank you for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest un biase feedback.

Coraline had only been married to her husband for a few months but something just wasn't right between them anymore so she goes to him at work to find out if they can work things out, romantically. But she's stopped by the Vampire Enforcement Agency thinking she's another hooker for her husband. It's only after the vampires search her that they realize their mistake.

Vampires are known to humans in this world but most humans are scared of them because of what they can do so Coraline is scared when she comes face to face with the vampires. While Coraline is being searched all hell breaks loose and her husband is killed. The vampires don't know if it's a coincidence that she showed up right before someone comes to kill him but they cuff her and take her back to their headquarters. She believes they'll kill her but she's actually safer with them than without when she finds out now she's also in danger and one of the vampire officers who cuffed her is now going to keep her safe.

But they run into trouble right away, somehow the bad guys keep finding them. It's a good thing Mason is a vampire or he'd be dead already. It gets harder and harder to keep one step ahead of the bag guys who are after them but while they're on the run they start to get closer which is hard for Coraline to imagine since she doesn't trust vampires at all. But Mason shows her that all vampires aren't bad and she starts to believe him.

I loved watching Coraline gets more confident and start to flirt with Mason. Their initial flirting was so much fun to watch because they are both slowly falling for each other even though Coraline is still a little afraid of him.

When Mason and his sire find out that she's not completely human, all hell breaks loose. Trent doesn't trust Coraline at all and scares her almost to her breaking point. Mason does everything he can to explain everything to Trent but it takes a lot of time for him to believe anything, all the while poor Coraline is stuck in the middle.

I was liking this story but it ended on a cliffhanger and I do hate cliffhangers. The story had no ending at all. Everything was left wide open and I really didn't like that at all. It's hard for me to give this a star rating since I don't feel like I got an entire story.

Disclosure: I was given a free ARC via NetGalley but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

A WICKED HUNGER by Kiersten Fay is the first book in the Creatures of Darkness Paranormal Romantic Suspense series. Fay is a “new to me” author.

Coraline Conwell survived on the streets after the death of her parents and brother when she was ten. She thought she had finally put that life behind her when she married Winston Gordon, a wealthy businessman. However, all is not what it seems and living in a world where vampires run the city and witches exist, anything can happen. The second protagonist is Mason, a member of the Vampire Enforcement Agency assigned to investigate Winston and Coraline.

The story begins with a great first chapter that pulls the reader into the story. Coraline is someone you can root for as her back story comes to light. The main characters felt three-dimensional with their own flaws and virtues. The relationships between the characters were mainly believable.

There were enough twists and turns to keep me engaged, but Coraline seemed too weak and naïve to be a great heroine. There are plenty of steamy scenes in the book and the suspense part often took a backseat to that. Additionally, the novel ends in a cliffhanger. For this reason alone, I would only recommend this to those that enjoy that type of ending.

Many thanks to Victory Editing NetGalley Co-Op and Kiersten Fay for a digital ARC of this novel via Net Galley and the opportunity to provide an honest review. Opinions are mine alone and are not biased in any way.

Coraline witnessed the brutal murder of her husband and is put into a sort of witness protection by Mason. Coraline has a history of abuse by a vampire and is initially frightened by Mason, who falls for her. The introduction of Knox did not warm my heart. I suspect the next book will endear readers to him. Although, Coraline might want to consider him. Mason continuously says he will keep her safe but is unable to do so. I was anxious for her to learn to use her magic to keep herself safe. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
