Clever Fun

The drawing here is a bit cartoony but the dialogue is often clever and even a bit edgy. Sometimes the characters comment on what's happening, and sometimes there are some sly throwaway lines and comments about the quest adventure genre, so this struck me as more rewarding than the art style might suggest.

If you are looking for a cute, diverse and kind of weird graphic novel, look no further.
This is a story about Dig, who gets kidnapped by and evil cult, and taken to a sunken tower, undergrund, in a Cave. The evil Cult, wants to use him for an evil blood magic ritual. He meets two girls, Iana and Crina (who are very much in love) , who are also being held captived by the cult. When they finally escapes they are let out on an crazy journey through out the caves.

I would recommend this for people who like middel grade, cute, diverse and weird stuff.

Dig isn't a wizard. He just knows how to do magic spells. And he hasn't learned a lot of them, but he is going to have to up his game, as he has just been captured to be part of a blood sacrifice. He learns all about that by reading a brochure that his jailers have left for him.

Yeah, it starts out strange, and just gets stranger from there, but in a fun way. This is a rollocking fast, and fun read, with weird creatures about to kill the trio of heroes, as they make their way through the underground city.

And a fun time was had by all. Recommend this book. Oh, and the two women he meet are in love with each other, so there is a lgbtq element, but that isn't a major part of the story.

Young wizard Digby, homeless and hungry, fails at thievery and trash-picking, leaving him vulnerable to an odd creature's abduction. Turns out, despite his scrawniness, Dig is sufficient for sacrifice, when combined with 2 previously captured victims. However, despite his current circumstances and general fecklessness, Dig does have an ace: Magic.

THE SUNKEN TOWER is a graphic novel written, illustrated, and colored by author Tait Howard.
