I always get excited when another book from K.L slater comes out and wow what a brilliant book this is. Twists talk about twists, this book had so many it is madness. But, in a good way.
Darcy is still struggling over the death of her husband Joel; she has two boys. But, is slowly coming to terms with it. At first, she had some mental health issues, but she has luckily had help with the support from Joel’s parents Brenda and Leonard and sister Steph.
When Darcy goes to the local park with her sons and Kane and Harrison, Kane has a fall from the rope bridge that brings on his Asthma. She searches for his inhaler but its not there. She panics and feels helpless but suddenly George a dashing doctor from the local hospital comes to help. He helps Kane. A few days later she goes to the hospital that he works in with a Thank you card and that’s when their relationship begins.
Darcy can’t believe her luck; she is going out with a dashing doctor. Not telling Joel’s family at first because they wouldn’t approve. But their relationship is not all rosy when George tells her about Opal Vardy that used to work at the hospital who he had a brief fling with, is now his stalker and she is also feeling guilty of the secrets she herself holds.
This is another gripping suspenseful thriller from K.L slater. This had great characters and like I said previously lots of twists you didn’t know who to was telling the truth and who was lying. It was great for keeping you enthralled in the book and I didn’t want this to end. I think this book had the most twists in it I have ever read. Amazing 5 stars from me.

Wow, wow, wow!!! I am still getting over that ending. What a fantastic book this was. I have read many of this authors books and this was by far the best one yet.

This book was about a woman who had lost her husband years earlier who is still trying to move past it with her two children. She finally meets a young and handsome doctor but is he who he seems to be. This doctor has a chilling past but can she see this in time before her or her children get hurt. You find out these answers and more by the end of the book.

I want to start off by saying that I loved the twist at the end. It was like a roller coaster ride that I never wanted to get off from. I had to reread it just to make sure what I read was true. I would have never saw it coming. I thought I knew what was going to happen and then bam the author through me for a loop. The ending truly made this book great. I also liked the plot. A woman meets a man and was hoping for her fairy tale ending that never came true. It was actual a nightmare that she could never wake up from. She had to decipher what was the truth and lies before it had a disastrous end for her and her children. This book was absolutely amazing and I enjoyed every word of it.

Between the plot, characters and all the twists in this book it made it an easy and fast read. I would definitely recommend it and happily give it 5 Hearts❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I was a bit disappointed in this book. I had read The Silent Ones by this author and really liked it so I did have good expectations, it just fell a bit flat. It was an okay psychological suspense thriller, but the pacing was a bit off. It started off interesting and I did want to stick with it to see how it would all resolve in the end, plus it’s a fairly quick read so I did not have to wait too long to get to the meat and potatoes. There was too much repetition and shallow characters that I didn’t form any attachments too. Also, i think it took too long to build up to the mystery shockers without enough satisfying little bread crumbs to keep us guessing and second guessing what would be next.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this ARC.

LOVED THIS!! This author has very quickly become one of my favs for a go to enjoyable thriller that’s entertaining but doesn’t require too much thought in concentration on your part. It’s enjoyable with just enough suspense and intrigue to keep your interest.
Highly recommend!

Although I usually enjoy K L Slater’s books, I found this one a bit far fetched and repetitive.
Thanks to the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read it.

How does K L Slater manage this? I have read quite a few of Slater's books and each one of them has baffled me to the core with its twists and turns. It's not like one big surprise, more of a series of totally unexpected direction the story takes that always astounds me. Most of her principal characters are themselves unreliable making it more of a muddle in our minds and sometimes there are chapters interspersed that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever but she always, always brings perfect clarity by the end chapter where even the infinitesimally small speck of detail is cleared.

Single is the story of Darcy a widow with 2 sons who has had trouble adjusting to her husband's death, the grief rendering her unable to take care of her 2 boys for sometime. Her in-laws step into provide timely help but soon becomes micro-controlling so much that even after 4 yrs, she's not given the blessing to step out there and start dating. The trouble starts brewing as she meets a handsome doctor George who is a doctor and a single father. There's difficulties from every corner and the agitation soon puts Darcy in a soup with no clear way of moving forward.

The story is fast-paced and thrilling that keeps the reader glued to the pages and recommended to all readers who love a good thriller.

Many Thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture and KL Slater for a chance to read and review this book.

Then one day picking her sons up from school she felt she was being watched, and feared it could br Daniela Friost the other woman in her husbands life.
Darcy then meets George a doctor, and hopes he will make her life better, and that’s when the book gets really exciting.

Such a unique book! I was intrigued the whole time. I want more of this story! Wow is all I can say.

My seventh novel by this author. This novel has an interesting cast of characters and I spent much of the book trying to diagnose them all!

I was never bored and did start to question one particular character's actions- wondering what they were hiding. I even made up one twist on my own that actually was wrong, but hey, I thought it was good. The other twist, I did predict. And there were some good twists and turns that surprised me.

I enjoyed it although it wasn't as mesmerizing as some of her previous titles - that were such page-turners (for me). I know I've read tons of psychological thrillers and it is getting harder for me to be fooled. I do enjoy her writing though and look forward to future Slater novels. I have her newest Audible title The Apartment and I'm excited to give it a listen.

Twisty and turny in a fun way, this one kept me guessing the whole time.

The quintessential Saturday afternoon read, it's short and easy to zip through with a satisfying conclusion!

Thank you to K.L. Slater, Bookouture, and NetGalley for giving me this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is one of those books that grabs you from page one and keeps you in suspense until the end of the book. Darcy and Joel had 2 boys and then he died. Darcy had mental issues and lost custody of her kids for a while to her in-laws but eventually gets them back. Her son, Kane, had an asthma attack and was saved by passerby, Dr. George Mortimer. Darcy is attracted to the doctor and contacts him for coffee to thank him. From here, the story takes many twists, turns and a very surprising ending. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC of this fantastic read in exchange for an honest review.

Another great book by K.L Slater. Lots of twists and turns in the book that kept me engrossed and although I thought it was a tad far fetched in places that didn’t take away my enjoyment of the book. If you like unpredictable Psychological thrillers than it’s a good read for you. I recommend this book to people who love the psychological thrilller genre.

I do always enjoy KL Slater's books. A good mix of easy reading, with suspense. This book was no different. As always lots of twists, people to suspect and chapters that leave you with questions, and an eager desire to read the next one. All in all a good read.

Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and author for this ARC.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author. I thought it was an ok read, just not a great one for me. Darcy and George, both widowed with young children meet and start dating. They both have back stories and lots of secrets and eventually move in together. I didn’t particularly like the two main characters and felt some parts in the story were quite unrealistic. There were quite a few twists and turns in the plot, nothing that made me go ‘wow’ though. For me, the book wasn’t what I would call a real thriller.

K.L. Slater has done it again in delivering an addictive and highly engaging psychological thriller that is impossible to put down!

Darcy is a widow to two young boys after her husband sadly passed away from cancer, four years later she is just getting back on her feet after receiving another devastating blow that her husband had been having an affair with a woman called Daniella frost who isn’t ready to let darcy live a somewhat peaceful life when she buys the house Darcy and her two boys are currently living in.

Darcy also has her overbearing in-laws to deal with on a daily basis which can be frustrating for her at times, she believes her luck is changing when she meets the charming and attractive George who is a respected surgeon that saved her young sons life while he was having an asthma attack, she soon falls for George quickly- could he be the one for her after all of the heartache she has been through? She soon realises that George isn’t actually all that he seems....

A truly addictive and gripping read that you will not want to put down full of quirky characters that all have a secret to hide. Thank you to netgalley for a copy of this wonderful book in exchange for my honest review.

Yet again KL slater has delivered a top notch book. Once picked up you will devour in one sitting.

Darcy is mum to two boys. Harrison and Kane. Following the death of their dad Joel the family have been struggling. Joel’s family have been there for them but has she allowed them too much control.
Following an incident at the park. George the dashing doctor comes to the rescue. What begins is the romance that Darcy could only dream of.

George is Dad to Romy. However, he also has his secrets. Before Darcy knows it the perfect life isn’t as perfect as it seems. Has she put her sons in danger.

Love the fact that the author sets the story in my home town of Nottingham. I recognised all the locations she referred to. This just made the characters leap off the pages.

This is totally worth the 5 🌟. If I could give more I would.

This started off as a good book. It's well written and i was intrigued by the characters and what would happen. As it reached the halfway point though things became very unrealistic and far fetched. It was hard to continue to root for the main character when the situations where rather absurd.

Darcy’s been having a hard time. Her husband died, and she’s raising her two sons alone. Also, her in-laws won’t keep their noses out of her life. They feel kind of justified, because Darcy had a bit of a breakdown at one point, because reasons, and needed a lot of support. Everybody except her seems to think it might happen again.

Then she meets George. He seems nice and handsome and stuff. Also, he’s a doctor, so there’s that. And he’s a single dad, so there’s that, too. Before long, Darcy and her boys are moving in with George and his young daughter Romy. Needless to say, the nosey in-laws are unimpressed. George’s housekeeper (he’s super rich) doesn’t seem thrilled either.

I like many of Slater’s books, but I struggled to get into this. None of the characters, not even main character Darcy, are sympathetic. (The kids are ok.) The “twists” are not that twisty - one I spotted right away - and it all gets a bit ludicrous towards the end, as if the author had to suddenly ramp up the action by putting a character in danger. The villain, when revealed as such, is too absurdly evil to be believable and everything is polished off far too neatly by the end.

That said, a lot of people loved it, so it clearly did hit the mark for many - maybe I just wasn’t in the right mood.
