I loved it like always! Lots of action, wonderful characters and plenty of time spent with some of my favorites. I'm anxious to find out what happens next!

I enjoyed this foray into the world of the Realm. The paranormal aspects were well done and I liked Haven and Quade. Haven has a lot to learn about who she really is and Quade is there to help her. The banter between them is fun. Aspects of family and betrayal add to the suspense of the story. At the end Haven knows she belongs with Quade. I look forward to more in this series.

This book definitely starts off with a bang. There’s action, suspense, humor, romance and so many loose ends slowly revealing more players in this game to save the world that will just build on the excitement for the final outcome.

I loved Haven, she was a vulnerable character that finally learns she isn’t weak or less than but rather strong and worthy and powerful. She has to overcome some of her own nightmares but it was long over due and this time she does it with friends who have her back. She was such a good fit for Quade! Oh Quade! I honestly feel like every knew member seems to by vying for my #1 spot as favorite but it’s hard to pick and choose between such amazing book boyfriends. Quade has to be hands down the most adorable of the bunch (so far) with his love of toothpaste, accepting “dork” as an endearment *lol* and just his overall protective, tender and passionate treatment of Haven. I have a huge crush on this big lug and I’m not ashamed to say it!

I can’t really say much on the story since it would pretty much spoil it for anyone who hasn’t read the rest of the Seven’s journey up to now but I will say that the whole gang is here and then some. Definitely missed seeing more of Ronan and Faith together and Ivar and Promise. Adare and Grace had too little page time in this one, only one scene of them together :( But there are a lot of pieces being moved into place for the big showdown with the baddie and a lot of uncertainty with what the outcome will be, when it will happen and who will be on what side. There’s also a few new players that come into play that just spiked the anticipation for the next book! Really, really well done!

I highly, HIGHLY recommend this paranormal series.

I was so excited to finally read Quade’s story. Having been trapped in a parallel dimension for centuries, Quade Karys is released back to this plane. He is not sure how it happened but he knows that he was rescued by a beautiful woman. Artist Haven Daly has been running for years. When she stumbles across a man that she has been painting for years. On the run, these two learn a lot each other and what they are willing to risk to have a chance at love. Quade is hilarious and his having to learn about the present world is funny and sad at the same time. Haven is skittish and trusts no one. Together they are superb!

Things are heating up in more ways than one in this newest Dark Protector novel.

In prior stories we were introduced to Quade, the other Kayrs uncle who has sacrificed a millenia of his life trapped in an alternate time bubble guarding Ulric, the Kurjan leader. We learned in Vampire’s Faith that when Ronan’s bubble imploded, that Quade’s bubble was thrown off kilter and in Demon’s Mercy and Alpha’s Promise that for the last few centuries in Quade-dimension-time, Quade has been living in an unstable environment being badly burned or frozen with no food or water.

We also know that Haven has been visiting Quade, whether by dimension jumping or dream visits, we weren’t 100 percent sure, but we know that Haven has been drawing pictures of Quade and his realities.

As we begin Hero’s Haven, just before Quade’s world implodes completely, Haven dimension jumps to Quade and is able to drag him into our reality, which is even more impressive since unlike Mercy’s dimension jumping, Haven does it while she is asleep and with no control.

While modern life is confusing to Quade, especially slang, I was quite surprised that after what amounts to a millenia living alone and the past few centuries of living in savage conditions as the dimension crumbled, Quade has returned here quite sane. In fact, he seemed a lot better off than Ivar was after getting caught in a dimensional vortex of sort which dragged him from one portal to another. Ivar was barely holding onto his sanity in Alpha’s Promise yet Quade started off a little quiet and overwhelmed then grew more Me Tarzan as he grew in confidence in this new world. You had to feel bad for Quade at the beginning of the story (again since he was out of touch for millenia), he had a mating mark which appeared as soon as Haven brought him here but he felt he couldn’t mate her because of his role as part of the Seven, when of course he isn’t aware that the rest of them tossed that rule out of the window a few years ago.

Haven is part-demon and part-fae, being one of those fae baby making experiments that went wrong and she was dumped into a human orphanage. Sadly for her, the preacher and his wife who adopted her took one look at her one black eye and one green eye and determined that she was possessed by a demon, which he felt was his calling to get it out of her. So Haven spends this story running from the preacher, who seems to have more contacts than the FBI and has had Haven on the run for years. She is running from a shifter who insists she should be his mate. She is also running from the Kurjans and the Cyst, who want her to retrieve their leader where he trapped between dimensions. It seems that the seven in playing with dimension bubbles had screwed something up and as these prison bubble collapsed, no one can dimension jump any longer, including the fae or the demons who could teleport like Dage. Haven can somehow still jump in her sleep and she keeps trying to rescue fae who are trapped and she keeps getting dragged over to wherever Ulric is stuck, and he wants out so he can go about his evil plan to kill the enhanced females.

There is a lot going on in this story, including more secret headquarters being destroyed so I don’t believe there are any mountain ranges left in the United States since they have all been blown up, and Quade’s obsession with mint. Can’t someone please give that man a roll of lifesavers.

There is still a lot more of this story to go, including Benny, Garrett and Grace and Adare since it seems Grace’s mating brand is disappearing, probably due to their unconventional mating; and don’t forget we are going to need a time jump here since Hope is only seven and she will need to be grown up to participate in the ritual. The question will be whether Benny or Garrett will end up with the third key.

This is the first book in Ms. Zanetti's Dark Protector series for me to read and I can guarantee that it won't be the last one. Once I started reading it was so hard to stop reading to do other things like eat and sleep. There is nothing like pitting an overprotective Alpha male with an equally strong female. The sparks that fly when they are together is fun to read about. Then you add in the dream worlds, the other members of the Seven, the other species, a few crazy humans, and the ultimate bad guy and you will see what I mean about not wanting to stop. Although I don't feel that you have to have read the rest of the series to enjoy this book, I know that I want to just to catch up on some of the other couples stories and perhaps see how all this began. I am definitely looking forward to the next book(s)

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher I was able to read an ARC of this book. The view expressed above is freely given and strictly my own.

A compelling, fast paced, well delivered read! Quade and Haven are fabulous characters and the ensemble cast around them is dynamic. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and highly recommend you grab your copy and start reading.

One of the best books I’ve read in a long while!
Quade Kayrs has been in another dimension for centuries. A hell he knows he will never escape or survive.
Haven Daly has been on the run and hiding since she was 14 years old. Her only salvation is her painting. She has a vivid dream life of beauty and danger and a man. A dangerous hulk of a man who draws her like no other ever has. If only she can save him from the impending end of her dream dimension.
Quade gave up his future to protect the Realm. He’d never have love or a mate so when Haven saves him and his mark appears he fought it and the pull to claim Haven for his own. Haven has survived this long without a man and plans to keep it that way. Even if they can’t keep their hands off each other as long as he keeps the mark to himself all’s good. When it comes down to it, can two headstrong and bullheaded people except each other to save each other?
Fated is my favorite book by Rebecca Zanetti, but I have to say this one is right up there with it. You will laugh, cry and need to fan yourself so be prepared.

I thoroughly enjoyed this next installment in the Dark Protectors series. Haven and Quade were perfect for each other and I loved their banter. And of course no one writes alpha vampires like Rebecca Zanetti.

I am not a paranormal, vampire romance reader at all! It just isn’t my thing. Having said that I am a huge Rebecca Zanetti contemporary romance fan! I did read some of her earlier books with characters featured in this book, so decided to try a paranormal romance again. Honestly, i liked the book, the storyline and the characters very much. She writes a great romance no matter the genre so Quade and Haven were a cute couple. I particularly liked that Haven in the beginning does not realize she is not a human, and Quade has been living in other worlds for so long, doesn’t know what to do in the Earth world he inhabits now. That was fun. As enjoyable as I found the book, it still hasn’t made me want to read more of this genre.....unless it is by Rebecca Zanetti.

An Amazing Paranormal Suspense / Romance .
I volunteered to read an advanced readers copy through Netgalley of Hero's Haven .
This is my honest opinion .
I love a good Paranormal story and I love suspense romance stories . If you combine the two you have a fantastic story just like Hero's Haven . This story is off the charts action packed and intense . Haven Daly has decided she has finally lost her final marble . She has dreams of a tormented man and has traveled to places in her dreams . She looses herself in painting when her medication doesn't seem to help .
Quade Kayr's is a immortal vampire - demon hybrid he has been trapped in a prison dimension guarding his enemy Ulric of the Kurjan for centuries . The dimension he's in seems to be coming apart he finds himself preparing to die but Haven the woman he has imagined many times appears in the flesh to rescue him . Haven wakes up in bed with a cut from her dream . She finds herself drawn by compulsion she cannot fight to drive North . She finds herself at a closed for the winter campsite . She also finds herself coming face to face with her dream man alive in the flesh . She soon finds out she's not loosing her mind but she's not human either and Quade finds the world has really changed while he's been gone . They must together find Quade's family and stay safe from their enemies and definitely keep Ulric trapped in the crumbling dimension . This story is absolutely sensational , very entertaining and definitely interesting . I highly recommend taking the time to read and enjoy this story .

Dark Protectors #11, The story of the seven continue on, it is best if you start at the beginning or at least Vampire's Faith (#8) which is the start of this story arc. When we last saw Quade his world was on the brink of collapse, Haven a special woman who has the ability to travel to other worlds in her dreams has seen Quade, talked to him. Haven doesn't always have control of where she goes but she was lucky enough to get to Quade before his world collapsed and somehow brought him back with her. Quade is thrust in to modern times and unlike his brother who had the help of Siri to adjust Quade is figuring this out on his own with Haven's help, his favorite thing is toothpaste.

On the run from human police and the Kurjian are the least of their problems when Haven's past finds her and tries it's best to take her way from Quade with the help a creepy shifter. But that's just the beginning. The Kurjian and the Cyst are still hot on the Seven's tail and the big bad is closer than ever to breaking free and it's up to Haven to stop it from happening.

The romance between Quade and Haven starts really nice, they have great chemistry but once it gets to the whole have to mate to protect her I lose interest, normally I love oblivious guys but Quade is just being too stubborn for his own good and it gets tiresome. The ending was brilliant though, I really liked how this one ended.

Overall, out of this new story arc this is definitely one of my favorites. It was action-packed and exciting from cover to cover. And Finally Grace and Adare's book is going to be next, well after the novella.

2020 is off to a great start with one of my highly anticipated reads from a go-to author!

NOTE: While it is possible to read Hero's Haven as a standalone, I recommend starting with Vampire's Faith for a better reading experience

I will admit, some of the heroines in this series made me a little nutty but I absolutely love Haven! All her life she has been told she is either crazy or possessed, and she has finally come to accept crazy as her own answer. Painting is her escape and a means of coping with the visions from her dreams- particularly of one very tantalizing male. Every time life knocks her down, she finds a way to pick herself up and keep on moving forward. And oh boy does she need those skills when her dream world man somehow turns out to be real!

Earth is nothing like the realm Quade remembers but he has lived lifetimes during his time trying to keep Ulric imprisoned. Cars, the internet, and even little things like toothpaste amaze him- and his slight obsession with toothpaste had me giggling quite a few times throughout this story! One thing has not changed, and that is his sense of duty. He knows he has to see the Seven's destiny through to the end which will likely mean his own death, so he is hesitant to accept that he may have found his mate after all these years. But it is such a tempting proposition that he is battling his own instincts.

Revelations about Haven's origins, her abilities and her past astonish her but once again she finds a way to deal and adapt with a healthy dose of snarky banter and a lot of paint. And she absolutely knows the best way to push the buttons of one very alpha male intent on imposing his will for her own safety whether she likes it or not.

Hero's Haven is my new favorite installment of this segment of the Dark Protectors series, hands down! I cannot wait to find out what comes next, but I see a re-read of this one in my not so distant future

❤️❤️❤️❤️ out of 5
Gosh I love this series so much! I at the same time never want it to end but also can’t wait for the last book which I know will knock my socks off. I have to admit I didn’t like this book as much as the last one because for a guy who hadn’t been in the present world for centuries he acclimated to driving and just the modern era almost too well..... and you know reality is what I’m looking for in a vampire romance 😂.

Our hero has been trapped in another dimension of centuries to prevent a big bad from essentially taking over the world. He has interaction with no one until a woman keeps popping in and then right before his world is about to collapse she pulls him into the modern day world which he has to traverse (with her help of course) to find his family and stop the world from ending.

So I loved our toothpaste eating hero and thought his character was perfectly written except for how well he adjusted to the modern day world. I thought the heroine was the perfect counterpart and she had her own interesting backstory. There was a lot to do in this book with the larger story however and would recommend reading from at least book 8 to fully appreciate the book.

HERO’S HAVEN is the eleventh instalment in Rebecca Zanetti’s adult DARK PROTECTORS paranormal/ fantasy romance series. This is vampire-demon hybrid, and one of the Seven Quade Kayrs, and artist Haven Daly’s story line. HERO’S HAVEN can be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion , especially this particular arc of the series focusing on the group known as the Seven.

SOME BACKGROUND: A thousand years earlier, a number of immortal warriors went through a ritual that, if they survived, hardened their bodies against attack, a ritual meant to create a group of Seven known as The Shield. The Shield was created to protect the world from an evil race of vampires known as the Kurjans, their sect group known as the Cysts, and ultimately a rogue warrior once considered a friend- Ulric-a male of immense power. To protect the human race, Ulric was captured, and along with two of the Seven, was encapsulated in one of three spheres for all eternity. As the warriors search for the ‘Keys’ to perform the ritual, the ‘Lock’ must be protected in order to take down the evil that is hoping to take over the world.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Quade and Haven) HERO’S HAVEN focuses on Haven Daly, and her ability to journey to other worlds in her sleep but one world in particular finds Haven rescuing a man she has come to know through her fantasies and paintings. With Quade’s rescue and return to the Earth realm, the Seven have to wonder if Ulric’s return is inevitable or if there is a way to keep Ulric trapped in the world to which he was sent. As Quade navigates the unfamiliarity of the modern world, Haven’s obsession and compulsion to paint reveals the people, places and worlds of everyone involved. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Haven and Quade, and the potential fall-out as more than one person/being has targeted Haven for who she is, and what she can do.

Haven Daly has no idea about her heritage, a heritage that makes her the focus of the supernatural and humans alike. Believing she suffered with mental disabilities Haven has always struggled with a direction in life. Having been abandoned as a baby, and raised by religious zealots, Haven’s earlier years have been fraught with torture and abuse. Discovering the who and what of her DNA, Haven’s independence and need to run will be curtailed by a man who knows Haven is his intended mate. Quade Kayrs hasn’t seen his brothers in hundreds of years, and with his return to Earth, Quade discovers that all is not well in the war with the Kurjans and Cysts. Now that most, if not all, of the bubbles meant to house the Seven have ruptured or failed, the possibility of Ulric’s return finds Quade battling to protect the woman with whom he has fallen in love, or entering the dreamworlds to destroy Ulric’s life.

The relationship between Quade and Haven begins long before our couple have met. Haven’s need and compulsion to paint and dream pulls Quade into Haven’s life, and eventually back to the world and family where it all began. Haven is a strong, independent woman who has had to live on her own for a very long time, and Quade’s need to ‘protect’ and ‘control’ pushes all of Haven’s buttons. But Quade’s refusal to claim Haven as his mate finds another potential suitor desperate to claim Haven as his own. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful secondary and supporting characters including Realm King Dage Kayrs and his mate Emma; Logan and Mercy, Ronan and Faith, Benjamin Reese, Adare O’Cearbhaill and Grace, Hope Kayrs-Kylwood and her besties Libby and Paxton; Ivar Kjeidsen and Promise Williams; Dayne, leader of the Kurjan nation, and his brother Terre; as well as Haven’s mother Allison, and cougar shifter Pierce.

HERO’S HAVEN is a story of family and betrayal; vengeance and war; discovery and revelations. The premise is fast paced, engaging and intriguing; the characters are colorful and energetic; the romance is fated and seductive. The back and forth banter between Haven and Quade is humorous and fun, as Quade struggles to navigate the new world, and his addiction to mint flavored toothpaste.

I'm not sure what to say here but Ms. Zanetti is FANTABULOUS!!!! I cannot express how awesomely glad I am that she returned to the DP world with all these amazing people.!! This is Quade Kayrs story and if you have been reading this series, you know that he has lived centuries, upon centuries, upon centuries, keeping the evil Ulric, trapped off in another dimension. Haven, our heroine, is a seer of sorts she paints the past, present and future. She has been painting Quade for years but thought she was insane all these years. Turns out, she was not! She is a hybrid, Fae-Demon! Loved it! Anywho...she is able to teleport via the dream world and happens to rescue Quade, her mate. Quade is one of the Seven. Filled with action, danger, suspense, killing those Kurjans and Cysts (evil, bad), hot sex and a mating, made for a terrific read! I just love when we meet with our original DP crew...Dage, Talen, Emma. So many great people in this story. I do hope that Hope and Paxton are alright. I would really hate, if anything happened to those two. It seems like they may be destined to be together. 5 WONDERFUL, STUPENDOUS, ACE, MINT-LOVING, HAVEN, KAYRS, AMAZING STARS!*****

P.S. I am in love with Benjamin "Ben" slightly crazy, Reese ever since we met him in the Realm Enforcers. I SIMPLY CANNOT WAIT FOR HIS BOOK!!!

****I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book provided by NetGalley*****

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

Finally, we get Quade's story!! So excited that he is out of his bubble realm after decades protecting the world from Ulric. Haven finds out that she is not crazy like everyone has been telling her and that Quade is real.

The book is practically non-stop action as Haven is on the run and then Quade joins her and they both are on the run. They are trying to figure out where Quade's brothers are and he doesn't know why his mating tattoo is coming into play when he took an oath and believes he cannot have a mate. After finding his group, there is more danger for Haven.

A few new secrets are revealed about Haven and Mercy so that is exciting for them!

We learn a bit more about Hope and see others from previous books but I am desperately waiting to learn more about what Grace and Adare and why is her mark fading??

I love this series but am impatiently waiting for the next book!!

When Haven Daly sees the stranger in her dream again and is somehow able to rescue him, things get complicated. What she has long believed are visions or dreams suddenly become her reality. The only explanation is that she has well and truly lost her mind.

Quade has endured unspeakable things for centuries. The only thing that's kept him alive has been Haven. When she helps him escape his own personal hell, he knows he's put her in danger. Quade will do whatever it takes to keep Haven safe.

HERO'S HAVEN is a fun and exciting addition to author Rebecca Zanetti's DARK PROTECTOR series. Haven thinks she's crazy and has been taking her meds like a good little girl, but unfortunately, one slip-up causes her to enter Quade's universe. Haven thinks she dreamed it all until she realizes she was actually hurt in the dream world and that Quade is now in hers. When danger lurking around every corner, Haven has no choice but to trust Quade, right? Find out what happens in HERO'S HAVEN. I give it 3.5 stars.

We’ve met Quade and Haven in previous books from the Dark Protectors series, now we finally get their story in Hero’s Haven and it was well worth the anticipation and the wait. They’ve been aware of each other, in different ways, for a very long time now. It’s time for them to meet in person and let destiny take over for Haven isn’t as crazy as she’s been lead to believe her entire life, and Quade is not as alone as he thinks.

Hero’s Haven can be intense, it can also be soft and tender depending on the people and the circumstances. Finally seeing Quade and Haven together it’s possible to feel the connection between them from the start, one that goes deeper on a different level for they’ve both been through their individual Hells now it’s time to fight together for the greatest prize of all – each other for a lifetime.

It would be tempting to say too much and give away spoilers, so I’m going to simply say that Hero’s Haven, was all that I wanted it to be and so much more. Their worlds have finally met and watching them fall for each other, face every difficulty and challenge together kept me flipping pages far beyond my bedtime. I, frankly, don’t think you can read this series out of order and “get” it all, the nuances, the connections – that’s my opinion. But if you don’t know the series then this one would be enough to entice you to check out the Dark Protectors from their beginning. I enjoyed being back in their world so much. I’d not hesitate a second in recommending this story (or the entire series) to any reader who loves a really good Paranormal/Suspense/Romance story, enjoys watching a couple find their way to each other, needs fast-paced action and villains to detest, and at the end simply loves falling into a world until it becomes real to you. Yeah, this series is all that and more.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

Love how this started! Quade is in some type of horrible dimension waiting to die, and Haven somehow has the ability to portal jump to him from Earth. They have been able to communicate this way for a bit, but finally they come together on Earth after Haven pulls Quade through a portal. Love the excitement of them finally coming together and needing to find their way through a situation they both weren’t prepared for. There’s action and suspense while they fight different groups of bad guys, and try to find Quade’s family and more about Haven’s roots.

The pull and connection between Quade and Haven felt deep and wonderful. Love that there’s hybrids; Vamp/Demon, Fae/Demon, and other interesting supernaturals. The start of the story really pulled me; loved the snowy setting and the suspense of them being on the run. The world and side characters were all interesting and great.

Loved how Quade needed to find his way in this present time after having been in such a desolate dimension; some humorous things there. It all endeared him to me a bit. I liked Haven’s sass, but she did pull the typical move of forcing herself into a dangerous situation even though she has no training thing. Still, she has her strong moments and I loved that she’s an artist that paints these cool things. She’s had a tough upbringing with religious zealots for adoptive parents; I really enjoyed that angle for this story. I was getting tired of her I want love but maybe I don’t back and forth junk, but it is understandable that she’d have issues.

What knocked a star off for me was the romance started intense, but then it lost a bit of that deep connection I was feeling in the beginning. I’m so tired of romances having the characters trying the whole no strings thing; it just makes the characters look like morons because it’s obvious there’s always going to be feelings involved. When this was mentioned, the connection lost some of that depth between Quade and Haven. They still have some passionate moments between them though, so overall, I do like their connection together. I also wasn’t a fan of the kid POV sections; maybe it’s a setup for their books when they are older, but they didn’t quite flow into the story for me. The story lost some steam in the middle after having the great suspense in the beginning.

Overall, some awesome kick butt action, strong premise, sweet romance, cool supernatural elements, and interesting world building. Looking forward to reading much more in this series and by Zanetti.
