I binge read this book in less then two days! Another amazing book by Jennifer Hillier! I was immediately hooked and could not put the book down. Thank you for the chance to read this ARC ! Can’t wait to buy a physical copy when it is released in April!

Terrifying thriller with seemingly unrelated twists and turns that satisfyingly all come together by the book’s end. While I had my suspicions about who kidnapped Marin’s little boy (which happens in the first pages of the story , so no spoiler there!), I was definitely caught off guard as the elements of the story unfolded.

The book captures what a fraction of the agony of not knowing where your child is and if the child is alive or dead. But as captivating as that is, the concentric circles that seem like unrelated subplots but aren’t is what make this book almost impossible to put down.

I received this book as an ARC from the publisher and NetGalley.

I have read all of Jennifer’s books and she is absolutely one of the most talented writers out there. She is excellent at capturing emotions and putting them down on paper. The kidnapping of Sebastian is so unnerving. I read this book in a day and could not read fast enough. I can’t wait until it is out so I can purchase it for my collection. I can’t wait to see what Jennifer writes next.

This is the third book from Jennifer Hilier that I’ve read, and it hit close to home as a mother of young children. That made it a little hard to read at first, but it was a fast-paced book that I read over two days, with lots of curveballs that I didn’t see coming. Marin loses sight of her child for a minute at Pike’s Place Market and that’s all it takes for someone to snatch him. Slowly watching her marriage fall apart afterward, she decides to take action against her husband’s mistress and the plot unravels swiftly from there. I would recommend this book after you’ve tucked your children safely into bed, and don’t let go of little hands to answer your phone.

Thanks to all involved with me getting this early ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I’ve been anticipating this book for months and was beyond thrilled to be approved. Jar Of Hearts blew my mind - and I couldn’t wait to read her next book.

Well it did NOT disappoint one bit. This book is so crazy in a dark but great way. This topic is not for the faint of heart but I was impressed to say the least.

I binged read this in two days and did not want it to end. There are so many twists and turns and multiple story layers here. Hillier pushes the limits here and it’s brilliant writing.

I was able to pretty much figure out the scenario and who the bad guy was - but for me that took nothing away from the story.

I give this amazing read 5 (black) stars and patiently await for her next masterpiece.

Squeeeeeeeeee!!!! When I put in the request for this book, I was holding my breath for approval. I absolutely loved " Little Jar of Hearts" and I have been anxiously awaiting the release of this, or the opportunity to have it as an ARC. My wish came true and I devoured this book in 6 hours. I could not put it down. I got nothing done for the day. This book was everything I have been waiting for and more. It WILL BE one of my top books for 2020. I cannot wait for the buzz to generate for this book.

Now, on to the book. Marin was at Pike Place Market over a year and a half ago when her son was taken from her and still hasn't been found. We follow the story of her and her husband Derek, whose marriage is fading from the stress of it all. The POV switches between characters and past and present. It really allows you to get to know each one and root for some you wouldn't think that you would. Enter Kenzie who is having an affair with Derek. Marin finds out and she is not going to go down fighting. The things she does and the reasons behind them will shock you. What will shock you even more is that Kenzie may know what happened to Marin's son. So where do they go from here? Will they find Sebastian? Will she have lost him forever? Is everyone you trust, who you really should? You have to read to find out. The ending will shock you.

Get this book when it comes out. Right meow.

This one was B-A-N-A-N-A-S! I thought I was reading a story of about a couple coping with the loss of a child, and I was, but it was also so much more. This story quickly veered into adultery and murder for hire! This one kept me swiping to the next page. Marin was a great character and the author did a good job making her motivations clear and sympathetic. I enjoyed most of the characters except for Derek. Derek was a cipher. He came off more like a device to move the plot forward than an interesting character. He was pretty meh.

The resolution was kind of strange but also fitting. You can say that about the whole plot though. I really recommend this one. I've never read the author before but I will keep my eyes out for more of her work.

Another exciting read from Jennifer Hillier. Even though I knew the outcome by 80% of the way through it was still very fast paced and held my attention throughout.

Can’t wait for her next book.

Five enthusiastic stars.

I loved Jar of Hearts and was excited to be approved for Little Secrets. What I wasn't prepared for was the intensity of the storyline! Hillier is brilliant in her depiction of a family in trauma after the kidnapping of their four-year-old son. The book grabs you by the throat and shakes you around like a little rag doll as you experience a range of emotions that you hope no parent will ever have to endure. We witness Marin and Derek's grief, guilt, abandonment; at the heart of the novel we empathize with Marin as her downward spiral leaves her sporadically suicidal, and when she discovers Derek may be involved with another woman, her life falls apart. But there's more to Marin than meets the eye and her inner strength surfaces as she is determined to set things right, while never giving up hope her son is alive. There is SO much more to this book! It's called Little Secrets but know there are HUGE, SURPRISING, and CRAZY secrets throughout! I absolutely adored this novel and now will go back and read her first three. Just...wow!

This book is amazing. Jennifer Hillier does NOT disappoint, yet again. I finished this book in less than 24 hours and now I’m mad I read it so fast but I couldn’t stop. The majority of this book takes place 16 months after Marin and Dereks 4 year old son goes missing. Their marriage is in trouble and Marin soon learns from her PI that her husband is having an affair. From that moment on the book is a roller coaster of emotions and events. So many feels. As a mother myself it was extremely easy to relate and identify with Marin. Losing a child is every parents greatest fear and the author captured those feelings that rip your heart out.

Ps...does this review warrant any karma Louboutin’s?

Jar of Heart was my one of my favorite reads in 2018. The bar was set very high, as were my expectations for this new book. And man, what an amazing, mind-boggling read it’s been. Little Secrets dives right into a fast-paced action-packed story with every mother’s worst nightmare: the disappearance of her four-year-old in a crowded Christmas market. Like a car going from 0 to 60 mph in less than 3 seconds, you go from carefree happiness to utmost horror in a few pages. Having lost one of mine when he was around the same age in a similar situation—though thankfully for a shorter time—I could immediately relate and care for the main character, Marin.
Reading the blurb of the book, I figured I could predict the ending. Little did I know—although I should’ve known better… The twists grabbed me when I least expected them, and I would have read it in one sitting if I hadn’t needed my beauty sleep. I can’t recommend this book enough; it’s tense and crazy and you really feel like you’re on the edge of that precipice where Marin threatens to fall at any moment. Jennifer Hillier is a true psychological-thriller mastermind.
Thanks so much to NetGalley and St. Martin Press/Minotaur and Mrs. Hillier for the chance to read an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

***Thanks to NetGalley for providing me a complimentary copy of LITTLE SECRETS by Jennifer Hillier in exchange for my honest review.***

4.5 STARS

Marin’s preschool son Sebastian goes missing from a crowded market. Sixteen months later he’s still gone and the statistics of him being found alive aren’t in his favor. When Marin discovers her husband is having an affair, she’s not about to lose what’s left of her family.

LITTLE SECRETS might have been better titled Humungous Secrets. In some ways, having a missing child is probably more difficult than having a dead child. Not knowing, holding out hope, realizing you may never have answers is the kind of hell I hope to never experience. What if, to me would be more devastating than the worst has happened.

I could understand with the tragedy of a missing child why marriages would splinter and break. While I don’t advocate affairs, I could understand Derek’s desire to distract himself from the pain by straying. I couldn’t wrap my head around Marin considering a hitman (hitperson?) to kill the mistress when her husband could have easily found another lover. Her issue was with Derek, not Kenzie. My inability to understand Marin’s desire to have Kenzie murdered kept me from fully embracing her journey.

Hillier plotted twists and turns I never saw coming. In hindsight, no surprise came out of left field, felt random or manipulative. Hillier ability to surprise me is one of the reasons I enjoy her so much.

LITTLE SECRETS should be preordered ASAP by mystery/domestic thriller lovers.

Thank you to Netgalley, the author, and the publisher for this ARC.

Wow. It is not an easy feat, to write a story with so many storylines that are woven together perfectly. I’m a little speechless, after finishing this book mere seconds ago. I am a new mother, my son is just under two months old. I started reading this book with him in my arms, and I couldn’t imagine the horror of losing your child. It was a very real experience for me, something I had never really thought about before I had a child. This book kept me up. When I should’ve been sleeping, I found myself unable to look away. I still am at a loss for words. This book was that incredible. Read it

Thank you NetGalley and St Martin's Press for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Jar of Hearts is one of my all time favorite thrillers. In my opinion it is severely underated and deserves a lot more attention then it received. When I learned that Jennifer Hillier had a new book on the way, I requested it immediately. I was so excited to be granted this ARC I read it within 24 hours of receiving it.

To be honest when I read the synopisis I was less excited about reading Little Secrets. The last book that I read revolving a missing child was somewhat boring. This was not the case whatsoever. This book has so many different layers to it. It's not the traditional missing child story. It is a page turner and I think I enjoyed this even more than Jar of Hearts. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a new thriller/mystery. I hope that Jennifer Hillier receives all the attention and praise for this book that she deserves when it is released in April.
