The artwork in this was (while not to my personal taste) well done and fun, but the short dating tips were just not all that funny or relatable. I know Gudetama is meant to be lazy, but this egg is kind of just a jerk in this book...

This was a really fast read and fit right in with my love of other Gudetama stuff. The art was cute and poppy.

Gudetama: Love for the Lazy is a sweetly silly and surprisingly spot-on look at dating and love advice from an anthropomorphic lazy egg-yolk named Gudetama. Due out 14th Jan 2020 from Oni Press, it's 48 full color pages and will be available in ebook/comiXology and hardcover formats.

I love upbeat positive silly situational comics. These are very short 1-3 page vignette stories about dating and related advice with Gudetama and his buddy/helper/narrator Nisetama. The artist writer, Wook-Jin Clark's work is frenetic and colorful in a good way. There were several of the stories which elicited a smile from me and at least one surprised chuckle (what to wear on a blind date).

Definitely a good choice for manga lovers, fans of comics, Sanrio fans, and 'just because'. I really loved the art and the cute (very silly) stories.

Four stars.

Review to come at the end of December on blog/goodreads.

I received this comic from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

I love Gudetama, the cute lazy egg, so I couldn't resist this comic when I saw it. I first thought it was manga, given it is Gudetama, but it is a comic. :P But since I didn't know that when I started I read the manga way and was quickly finding out I should just read it the normal book way.

In this book we meet our lazy egg, Gudetama and see him help out various people with problems in love. Like the guy who looks normal but has a BIG BIG problem, thankfully Gudetama has a solution for him, though as his friends also said, they can't meet at that place all the time. I had a big laugh at the second story and how Gudetama was using a dating app and getting all the attention (then again, if the one seeking help has that kind of profile... um I can imagine him not getting any attention). And each story has someone new who needs the help of love guru Gudetama. Though if they actually get good advice? Well, I guess that depends on how you look at it. He did have some valid points from what I could see, but sometimes I was just scratching my head. I do wonder why people still come to him... knowing that he doesn't always answer right.
But I did like seeing all the various people and what kind of trouble they had. I am not sure how I felt about the guy who was for OJ and his girlfriend for Cranberry. Who the f cares? I am a tea person, my hubby is a coffee person. We drink our own drinks and don't give a f. Do people really care about such little things?

The gift guide.. who the hell gifts a person a bottle of vitamins? Also gift certificate being a bad present? Excuse me? Give me all the book gift certificates in the world, you make me happier with that than a tattoo or chocolates.

And the comic ends with various very short life questions asked to Gudetama with a very easy and lazy answer.

All in all, despite it being a bit repetitive, I had lots of fun reading this and seeing what kind of advice people wanted and what Gudetama would tell them. Plus, I just adore Gudetama so a whole book with him is just perfection! I would recommend this book.

The comics in this volume were hit or miss for me. I did enjoy the vibrant illustrations, though. I’m sure many readers, especially those involved in online dating, will enjoy this.

Very cute and a very relatable orange blob. Learn a little about life, love, dates and breakups here, as well as what to do if your boyfriend and cat hate each other! (Hug it out, of course!)

Gudetama, for those who don’t know, is an adorable little animated egg yolk who is known for his laziness (he’s often lounging on or napping on his pillow-like egg whites, or cuddled under a strip of bacon!) and his gluttony- little yolk bro loves to eat! He’s a very popular and silly Japanese character created by Sanrio, the folks who brought us Hello Kitty. In this little book Gudetama begrudgingly- because hey I did say he’s lazy- answers people’s relationship questions.

I thought it was an amusing concept and requested this one from Net Galley because I was mighty curious what kind of love advice a lazy egg yolk could have to give! Turns out, he’s not half bad. On one level the illustrations and answers Gudetama gives seem overblown or dramatic and funny. Yet beneath the goofiness, our yolky friend is actually pretty spot on! From focusing on your first date being good instead of perfect to wearing what you like and feel most yourself in for a blind date to encourage your partner and cat who are jealous of one another to love it out- Gudetama is a wise egg!

The illustrations are predictably adorable- what’s not to love about a plump yoke with limbs and a butt? There’s so much creativity here too. Popular catch phrases or memes occasionally make appearances and there’s a whole lot of love in the modern world- dating apps, texting, the tendency of some to feel much more comfortable communicating online versus in the real world. Each scenario or question for Gudetama takes up a couple of pages and the results are always humorous. Yet, as I mentioned, underneath the silliness is some legitimately good advice. I’m not sure anyone with serious dating woes is turning to an animated egg for answers but there’s some relatable and good reminders underneath what makes for an enjoyable and amusing read.

If nothing else, it’s way too much fun seeing what Gudetama will do or say next! Recommended for Sanrio/ Gudetama fans, those in the throes of trying to figure out dating and relationships in our modern world, and anyone who wants a cute, fun read. Also, anyone who’s ever wondered how popular an egg yolk might be on dating apps! ;)

Gudetama: Love for the Lazy was a cute comic based on the Sanrio character. I liked how it has the popular Sanrio character but puts a more adult spin on it by focusing on dating. It was a quick and cute comic.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

That wonderfully lazy egg, Gudetama is back dispensing love advice for the Lost and lonely.
Cat problems? Juice problems? The good egg has you covered, y'know, after a nap.

This is a silly fun read. Gudetama is a lazy, but good egg. This comic will be just in time for Valentine's Day. Love the illustrations.

**I was provided an electronic ARC by the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for honest review.**

Gudetama: Love for the Lazy follows Gudetama as it gives advice to multiple individuals looking for love. The advice Gudetama gives is not always the best, which leads to comedic situations for everyone involved.

The art style is bright, vibrant, and comedic, but I did not find myself overly invested in the storylines that were written.

Overall, I was left a little lukewarm, but would still be interested in future works.

Gudetama, the apathetic egg is here to help us out with our love lives. Or, is he? Gudetama alternates between napping, eating, and giving pretty bad advice. So, while you won't find the answers to all of your questions, you will be hilariously entertained by the adorable Gudetama. The end of the book includes several pages on how the author illustrated and designed the pages.
