Shocking that this novel, with so much going on, didn't land with me as I had hoped. It just missed the mark of taking me on the ride I was hoping for.

This book started off great. I was intrigued by Bree and Ward. But the ending came out of nowhere and left me annoyed and confused. It felt rushed and cheap.

Good story with plenty of twists and turns to keep me turning pages. I received an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher and this is my honest opinion.

Perfectly Famous started out strong. The first 2/3 of the book was written compellingly and I had a hard time putting it down. Then it started to drag. Right around 75% finished I almost abandoned it out of boredom. The last section was just one eye roll after another. It was so cheesy. The BIG TWIST at the end was predictable. I wish I had abandoned the book. The last sentence would have ruined the book if there was anything left to ruin.

Plot seems good at first and the characters are sometimes interesting but the more this book continues, the more obvious it becomes that the “thriller” twists are too predictable. The story wasn’t as engaging as I had hoped it to be. It maybe right for many readers but not my favorite.

This was a great suspense novel that I read so quickly so I could find out what happens! When award winning author, Ward's, daughter is brutally murdered, her life spins upside down and she refuses to write ever again and goes into hiding. Then she meets Bree, a super fan devoted to finding her. What she discovers are secrets that should remain hidden. I thoroughly enjoyed this one!

I'm still trying to figure out how to review this book because I just didn't "get it". The plot is that a famous writer, Ward, has tragically lost her daughter to murder and is now a recluse. Bree, a divorced journalist with an angsty daughter becomes obsessed with tracking Ward down to tell her story. I'm not sure I understood why Bree was so into this, and the alternating storytellers really was not done well. Then the ending was sure a head scratcher. Not only was it not satisfying, it leaves you wondering if you understood any of the book in the first place. Very disappointing.

The twists and turns throughout most of the book make it a good read, yet the ending seems at odds with the general flow of narrative and even seems like a sequal may come out of this. When a back-to-work journalist investigates the sudden disappearance of a famous author, suspects emerge from every corner of both women’s lives. Spot-on characters and clever plotting. Put this on your must read shelf!

Perfectly Famous is a case study in a psychological thriller/domestic noir/ romance/mystery that has too many ingredients and no restraint. I was enjoying the first third, before the premise began to go off the rails. Liebert kept me reading until the end. The ending that I wished I hadn’t read. This could have been a really good novel, It’s written by a powerhouse author, but I had to reduce my rating because of the ending. No way that was logical.

So I started out this novel not really seeing where the story was going to go given the 2 very different lives of the protagonists, Bree and Ward. Bree a 40 something, recent divorcee who finds herself trying to start life over again after a failed marriage, and Ward, a reclusive best selling author who up and vanished from public life after a brutal assault killed her only daughter. Looking at the two of them, it was hard to see a connection. In the middle, I thought I had figured out the story. Bree accepts a new job for the local newspaper, and after she gets her feet wet on a few basic articles, she decides she wants to write an expose article trying to find out what really happened to Ward, and where is she? But with Ward’s daughter’s killer still on the loose, this may end up being a dangerous assignment. And then at the end the story gets blown up again with a last minute surprise in the last 2-3 pages. So, the story does a good job of keeping things interesting. I myself did smell a rat early on in the story, and wasn’t surprised to see the evolution of the villain. The ending was a stunner, that left me wondering if there will be a follow up for Bree and Ward? Is there more to their story? Sequel? Maybe. Review posted to Goodreads, Litsy, Facebook, Amazon, and LibraryThing.

I had been looking forward to this and thought it was going to be the perfect title to pull me out of my reading funk, boy was I wrong. I was disappointed in this one from start to finish.

Perfectly Famous
By Emily Liebert

What a fun thriller read that hooked me until the very end with a twist I never saw coming at all. The story is about Ward DeFleur a famous writer in Connecticut whose perfectly famous life comes to a screeching halt when her teenage daughter Stevie was brutally murdered. Ward went into seclusion and never wrote again.

Bree Bennett an ex-journalist turned housewife raising her teenage daughter Chloe starts to obsess over her favorite author gets into the mix of this thrilling story. oh and the killer is still out there murder unsolved.

I thought the writing was amazing and really kept a great pace. The killer ending threw me for a loop but overall this was a highly enjoyable read that you will be able to read in an afternoon.

A little disappointed in this one. Had promise but kind of fell apart by the end with complete nonsense.

This book was super lame. One of those ones you just keep reading because you want to see what happens. It is painfully obvious who the person of interest is and what the outcome will be by halfway through. Yet we follow the main heroine around as she has no clue and deals with a difficult teenager and a divorce. Skip it it you can. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This book was crazy town. The perfect thriller, a fast and absorbing read, and an ending you dont expect. Highly recommend.

To be honest, most the way through this book I didn't really connect with any of the characters or care about what was happening. I did NOT however see the twist coming at the end so that is why I am rating it 3 stars. I really liked how the author ended the story and I will eventually read her earlier book Pretty Revenge. I would recommend this one to "beginner thriller" fans.

Excellent suspense story with relatable characters and very unexpected twists. Perfectly Famous was a non-stop surprising book, which was very difficult to put down. Thank you NetGalley, the author and publisher for the e-reader for review. All opinions are my own.

I was obsessed with this book up until the end. It was a solid five star read...up until the end. The last ditch twist was not necessary,
