Constance, Duchess of Kilmaine has been married for almost three years. She has been abused in almost every way(especially if it deals with pain). He enjoyed that. Constance worried about her 6 yr, old stepdaughter. The morning after the ball, she awoke to find her husband beside her, brutally murdered. There was blood everywhere. Her brother-in-law was trying to blame her for the death.
Dr. Alec McGinnis was a childhood friend of the duchess. He was the youngest son of the Earl of Caldwell. He was handsome, 6'2", broad shoulders, and kept fit with fencing and boxing. He was born in Scotland but when he was seven, his mom took him to England. When he met the duchess, Constance, she was ten and he was fifteen. Because his father had driven out his mother and him, he refused to forgive his brother and especially his father.
this is some wonderful writing. This can be such a sensitive subject but she was very gentle and approached it with kindness. The story itself was well written and entertaining. The characters were well rounded and very talented. There are a few twists in the plot to keep your interest up. It is just an excellent novel. I highly recommend this novel.

The Sinful Scot is book three in Maddison Michael’s Saints & Scoundrels series. I enjoyed the first part of the book. But somewhere along the way, the pace slowed and I began to lose interest. I actually put it down for a few days. Once I returned to it, the pace seemed to pick up again and the story finished with an exciting bang. All that to say please - press through. I liked the heroine Constance Campbell. She is a lovely character with strength and wit. The hero Dr. McGuiness is a swoon worthy Scot who can be frustrating at times, but still quite the heart throb. I just wish the book had been a bit shorter. But the story has a few twists and turns that I didn’t expect. I enjoy Ms. Michael’s stories, so I am looking forward to reading more. I was given a copy of this book.

Constance Campbell, the Duchess of Kilmaine, wanted to please her mother by marrying well. She found the perfect man, a duke, to fill the roll of husband. Unfortunately, appearances can be deceiving, and Constance had to learn it the hard way. Her marriage has been a hell she can't escape.

Dr. Alec McGuiness agrees to check on an old friend, Connie, and so finds himself back in Scotland. From the minute he sees her, he knows something is terribly wrong, but Connie seems reluctant to accept any help from him. When Connie finds herself facing charges for murder, Alec and she must work together to prove her innocence. Meanwhile, old feelings are bubbling up between them. If they come out of this unscathed, can Connie ever take a chance on someone like him?

I found myself completely absorbed in author Maddison Michaels' latest novel, THE SINFUL SCOT. I recently discovered her work and she is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. Her SAINTS AND SCOUNDRELS series is phenomenal. It consists of three novels to date, THE DEVILISH DUKE, THE ELUSIVE EARL, and THE SINFUL SCOT. THE SINFUL SCOT is not your average light-hearted historical. It has depth. The heroine, Connie, goes through a pretty awful experience. Her husband is an absolute monster. The strength and will Connie possesses amazing after what all she has endured. Alec comes along at just the right time in her life. I love how kind and patient he is with Connie. It is clear to see he truly cares for her. Them finding one another again is fate. Their love story is in a word... touching. I couldn't put THE SINFUL SCOT down.

Wow, what a story! I just finished reading "The Sinful Scot" and my first thought is "wow, this author sure knows how to write"!!! I realize that some readers might not like that the heroine is a physically abused wife at the start but if you give it a chance, the story really evolves and not only do you get passion and caring, you also get a murder mystery!! This is so well written, I was actually shocked when it's revealed who the murderer is, I never suspected that person!

Connie is a physically abused wife and when her husband is found murdered in her bed, she is accused of his murder and ends up on the run with the help of a longtime friend, Alec. I loved how gentle he was with her and could show her that most men were not like her husband. There are many twists and turns in this story that will keep you on your toes. Be prepared to not want to put the book down once you've started reading it!!

This was a painfully good read—painful because of the vicious subject matter; good because of the excellent writing and romance. TW are definitely needed before reading, but this was such a lovely book of starting over.

The Sinful Scot is the third book in the Saints and Scoundrels series. This has been an interesting series and each one is perfect as a stand-alone. We were introduced to Dr. McGuiness, Alec, in the first book and I was so happy to read his story and have him find his happy ever after.
Constance “Connie” Campbell, the Duchess of Kilmaine, had married the duke to try and thought her life would be perfect once she married. Everyone thought Duncan, the duke, was charming but Connie soon found out he was a monster with his fits of rage. One morning after having a ball, she awoke with the duke covered in blood and dead in her bed. She had no memory of what had happened but knew she had to leave.
Alec had traveled to Scotland to check on his father’s health. On the way back to England, Alec attended the Kilmaine ball at the request of their friend, Sophie, to check on Connie. After Connie had made her debut, she became obsessed with her appearance and marrying a duke. He didn’t understand why he was attracted to her. He became suspicious that things were not right after talking to Fergus, Connie’s brother in law.
When he heard the news of the duke’s death, he knew he had to help Connie. As they searched for clues to who had killed Duncan, their attractions to each other grew. Will they solve the mystery of Duncan and the other victim’s murder?
The book was intriguing, and full of twists and turns. The author kept the reader in suspense until the end when the killer is finally revealed. The author also set up the next book, which should provide lots of amusement.

I really enjoy each of Maddison Michaels books! This one is definitely different than her other two in that the subject matter is a little darker. However, I feel like it was handled in such a way that you got the full picture of what the heroine endured, but it wasn't so much that it consumed the whole story. I loved the Hero and the fact that he was a doctor. As a medical professional, I would have loved reading about a little more of him in this role. I also feel like its hard to make a romance bloom with a heroine that is so fresh from abuse. I think she would have had any sort of romance/relationship very far from her mind at that point. Overall I enjoyed very much and will continue to read anything this author puts out!

I do enjoy this author quite a bit but the storyline that focused on the terrible abuse suffered by the heroine along with hiding from the law while trying to solve the murder mystery, didn't allow for the romance to be a key focal point of the story. The lack of development of the romantic connection was a miss for me.

This is a beautiful love story that revolves around the murder of a Duke and numerous other people. Constance has been framed for the murder of her husband and Alec is helping her find proof of her innocence while keeping her safe at the same time. People are not who they appear to be and the murderer is finally uncovered but not before lives are lost. After being betrayed by the people he loved most, Alec has vowed to never again trust another woman with his heart. There is a HEA for Constance and Alec but a lot happens first. The book is full of danger, numerous murders, hidden agendas and a love story that is beautifully written. I enjoyed the story and the mystery and would highly recommend it as a great read.

This is my first book by the author. I was impressed by her writing style. The story was fast paced with elements of intrigue and romance. Constance was a strong woman. After enduring so much she really blossomed with Alex. Alex was a very likeable hero. It was fun to see their budding romance. They were always attracted to each other but circumstances drifted then apart. Heir interactions were very entertaining. Would love to read the next book in this series

DNF

I reached 23% before I ended up DNF’g this. I was really intrigued by the focal points the author was trying to achieve. She did a great job with instilling fear of a victim, but once the abuser was “taken care of” that fear seemed to disappear instantly which is unrealistic. Because of that, Connie’s character was a huge let down because she lacked the depth needed of someone who has been abused repeatedly over time.

An intriguing mystery! Constance wakes up one morning next to her dead husband, the Duke! He has been stabbed multiple times in the chest.,she doesn’t remember anything. She certainly had reason to kill him as he beat her regularly. Her childhood friend,,Alex, helps her escape as she is being framed for the murder by her brother in law. Connie and Alex set out to prove her innocence and find their HEA along the way.

* Trigger warning* This book features extreme domestic abuse, suffered by the heroine at the hands of her husband.

This is the third in the series, but each book can be read as a standalone. The characters do cross over to a slight extent but not in any way that would affect the enjoyment of each particular romance.

I did enjoy the first in this series, but this book was lacking for me, I can't put my finger on what exactly bothered me. I guess I just didn't connect with the characters. I will say it is well-plotted, I was surprised at the killer's unmasking. There will definitely be fans of historical romance who will love this.

I received an arc of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Sinful Scot is an outstanding historical romance by Maddison Michaels. I think this is my first book by this author, but wow, it won't be the last. Ms. Michaels has given readers a well-written book furnished with a stellar cast of characters. Constance tried to make her mother happy by marrying a duke. Unfortunately, he was an abusive, evil duke...until Constance woke up next to a dead duke. Alec arrived at the Duke's ball the night before he was murdered, only because he promised his friend he would check on Constance. Alec helps her escape after Constance's brother-in-law claims she killed the duke. Constance and Alec's story is packed with drama, humor, action, spice and suspense. I enjoyed every page of this book and look forward to reading more from Maddison Michaels in the future. The Sinful Scot is book 3 of the Saints & Scoundrels Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Sinful Scot is an enjoyable historical romantic suspense. While the beginning opens up with a brutal murder, the romance does develop over time while Constance and Alec attempt to discover who killed her abusive husband.

Several readers are sure to enjoy this story; however, I had a difficult time connecting with the characters. If you are a fan of this genre, I’d recommend giving it a try.

I really enjoyed this book! I loved how Alex quickly got over any anger he might have had with Connie over childhood squabbles when he realized she needed help. The book both has a good mystery and a great romance! Connie had clearly suffered during her marriage, and I enjoyed watching her heal and come into her own.

The Sinful Scot.
What do you get when you cross Jane Austen with Agatha Christie? You get Maddison MIchaels. Her new book, The Sinful Scot, is another page turner from this talented author. Set in a period where women were basically the property of their husband, with no legal rights and little choice but to turn a blind eye to extra marital affairs, Constance Campbell seems doomed to suffer at the hands of her cruel husband.
But, fate (and Maddison) have other plans for the beautiful Duchess of Kilmaine, and, when the handsome, yet brooding, Dr. Alec McGuiness is thrown into the mix, strap yourself in for a wild ride. If the sizzling chemistry, between the protagonists, isn’t enough to keep you reading, the fast paced action certainly will. I stayed up until two in the morning to finish it. I highly recommend this book to lovers of romance and mystery alike. Five stars from me.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley. The Sinful Scot by Maddison Michaels is the first book I have read by this author, and she had me hooked from the very beginning of the story.
Constance and Alec McGuiness have known each other for a while, but circumstances lead them to escape from the law and determine the truth behind the murder of the Duke, Constance' husband. There is intrigue in this story, as well as a whodunnit aspect, but most importantly, there is the budding romance between the hero and heroine. A spectacular read!

Maddison Michaels is going on my auto buy list. This is another great story. Connie and Alec know each other from childhood but have not seen each other in years. Connie has become a Duchess to a horrible Duke who beats and rapes her all the time. Alec has become a doctor but is estranged from his family. Connie awakens one morning to find her husband dead in her bed and her brother in law accusing Connie of his murder. Alec helps her escape and they go on the run to clear her name. On the way they fall in love and heal each other.
This was good story. There were incorrect forms of address which will hopefully be fixed before it’s published.
