I always enjoy Kendig’s books. They’re a little different as they have a hint of the supernatural realm to them. I found it fascinating that the group is hunting for members of the super army, some of whom may not know they’re part of the super army. Things were not always what they seemed to be and there were a few big twists. There was a real sense of danger and urgency. It would make a great movie. It is easy to visualize what’s happening.
This book had a very exciting start. “Being hunted by the monsters she had created was a terrifying, well-deserved death. God forgive her for the terrible things she’d done…” (location 41). Then Katrin pretty much disappears from the story until close to the end. I hope there’ll be more about her in the next book. I also hope the next book comes out soon because it ended in a crazy way. I can’t wait to read it.
I liked many of the characters but enjoyed Peyton and Adam the most. Peyton is a female sniper and Adam is her spotter. He was very supportive of her and reveled in being a part of the history she was making. I look forward to seeing what happens next for them.
This book could be read as a standalone but it would be better as part of the series. Everything will have a lot more meaning in context. Thank you to Bethany House for providing me with a free e-copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
The Book of the Wars series:
Book 1: Storm Rising
Book 2: Kings Falling
Book 3: Soul Raging (coming 11/3/20)

Kings Falling
Ronie Kendig has once again crafted another fast paced and unpredictable military suspense novel. Kings Falling provides complex storyline with a variety of characters that will keep readers guessing as the pages turn. One of the things that sets this author’s writing style apart for me is that the reader is immersed into each situation as it is happening. It gives each chapter a sense of urgency, which delivers a fast paced read.
All that said, for me this book was a little hard to follow. There were so many characters, nicknames and call signs that it was hard for me to keep everyone straight. The overall plot was simple enough to grasp, but getting into the details of what was going on just flew right over my head. I personally cannot track extensive details in a storyline, so for me it was extremely difficult to follow. I absolutely know this is a personal struggle, but I did want to mention it. I looked forward to the bits of romance scattered throughout this book. However, I was a bit disappointed that for the majority of this book particular characters seemed to be suffering from severe miscommunication, bickering, and a large amount of distrust. I’m not sure if these characters are meant to be in the long run. It was hard to root for their relationship.
I enjoyed the team dynamic and sense of humor. It kept the book from becoming too heavy. There were definitely several twists and turns in this book! I didn’t actually feel as thought the team made too much headway on their actual goals in this book. It seemed like they were always a step behind and working with too little info.
The end of this book is definitely cliffhanger worthy. If you don’t like an open ended story then you might struggle with the ending of Kings Falling. It definitely left me with more questions than when I finished Storm Rising.
While I didn’t love this book as much as the first book in this series, I am anxious to see how this story concludes in the last book in the series!

This book had me hooked from page 1 and never let up. I finished, so I can breathe normal for a while. I thought Storm Rising was great. This one was even better.

I love every single person on Leif's team. The author has given every character such depth on a deep level. With that many people it takes a good Author.

This book was action packed with so many twists and turns you'll get dizzy. Then there is the ending that makes you want the next book RIGHT NOW.

All I can say is, buckle up. This is one thrilling ride.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley for my honest opinion.

This beauty is book 2 in the Book of the Wars series and DANG it is awesome! I expect nothing less from Ronie Kendig (one of my favorite authors of all time) and I was so excited to get approved for a digital copy of it! It's exciting, thrilling, twisty-turny, and is guaranteed to keep you up at night reading (in the best way).

I loved the action, hints of romance, and the focus on the next book revealing some pretty significant answers!

Ronie Kendig has done it again! This story is amazing. I had really high expectations for Kings Falling and I am happy to say that this story totally exceeded them! I loved everything about it. The camaraderie, the action, Leif, the growth of key relationships, the wonderfully creative storyline, and did I mention, Leif? Ronie Kendig writes the best male characters.

There is not a whole lot I can say about this story without getting into spoiler territory. So, what I will say is this, there are so many twists and turns in this story and so many things I totally did not see coming. I was on the edge of my seat from the very first page to the very last page. I cannot wait to find out what happened to Leif during those missing months. I am so glad that we do not have that long of a wait for Soul Raging, which comes out in November! I cannot wait to see how this series plays out.

Ronie Kendig is the most consistently amazing author I have ever read. Her always creative, addictive stories, and her characters are why she is my absolute favorite author.

Kings Falling was another action-packed and unputdownable thrill ride from Ronie Kendig. From beginning to end, I could hardly catch my breath. There's so much suspense and so many twists that left me shocked, kept me guessing, and had me questioning everything. The excitement hardly ever let up.

This epic and intense adventure is not to be missed. Be sure to grab a copy of the first book, Storm Rising, before diving into this page-turner. It's not a standalone. I'm very eager for the next book because, oh man, this one left me hanging. I can't wait!

I received a copy of this book from the publisher and voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and comments are my honest opinion.

Kings Falling by Ronie Kendig gives readers more of everything we’ve come to expect from her novels. More death-defying action, more amazing characters like Leif Metcalf and Iskra Torodova, more danger, and much more inner conflict. But note that this novel ends on a total cliff-hanger which will leave readers wanting…well, MORE!

This is the second novel in the series, so readers need to pick up Storm Rising first to keep up. The story picks up with Leif, Iskra, and the rest of the team, now dubbed Reaper, as they try to stop assassination attempts that were predicted in the Book of Wars, not to mention that the book is missing. Leif struggles with his relationship with Iskra but also the thought that men are being “activated” and turned into mass murderers. Oh, and throw in a secret organization called the Armageddon Coalition which wants total world domination and you’ve got one action-packed, thrilling novel.

If you loved Storm Rising, you’ll not be able to put down Kings Falling. I used to think I had a crush on Tox (from the prior series) but now it’s totally Cell. He’s kind of the behind the scenes guy trying to keep everything straight, while Leif and others on the team starts to come unglued. I don’t want to reveal too much, but this is a fantastic adventure filled with drama, action, suspense, and intrigue. Clearly, I can’t wait for the next one. Because the ending of this one is leaving me hanging in mid air trying to catch my breath!

Kendig has done it again! This books picks up where the prior story left off, so it'd be beneficial to read them in order. The characters are well-developed, and the scenes are vividly detailed. The action begins of the first page, and keeps the reader engaged throughout. There were a few unexpected twists I enjoyed, as well! The reader is left anticipating the third (and final) book in the series. Kendig's books are referred to as "rapid fire" for a reason!

Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy from the publisher, but I wasn't required to leave a positive review.

Blown away! As usual, Kendig did a phenomenal job. It was good to get back to beloved characters. I was hooked from the start and held my breath till the very last page. Everything's going fast...that's what I love in Kendig's books...rapid fire. Never a dull moment! This is not a stand-alone read, so if you haven't read book one—start there! You'll love it!

Ronie Kendig packs a punch and doesn't let go. With the introduction to her second novel in The Book of the Wars series, Kings Falling, Kendig grabbed my attention with the first chapter and really didn't let go at all. It kept moving forward and having climactic moments all over the place. If readers are a fan of the Fast and Furious franchise, like me, than this is definitely a book to pick up and devour. Kendig started the book with a little bit of calm before the storm, and I actually enjoyed that. It helped cement the reality of the characters. The characters are reoccurring, and I really liked this element of the story. As a reader, we are really getting to know these characters and understand how they really tick. As for the plot, a major climactic moment is solved, BUT the overarching goal of the series is still not met. The ending is left in a climactic moment. Not that it bothered me at all. I cheered Kendig for doing this. It begs me to return and read the final book. I highly recommend readers of action and suspense to pick up this book, but they should read Storm Rising first.

*I was given an ebook copy of this review through Netgalley for my honest reviews. These opinions are my own.*

Genre : Christian, Action, Sci-Fi, Suspense, Military
My rating: 5 stars
Language: Clean! (However there are a few lines where it is suggested that they say a curse word, but end the sentence before they say it. E.g. "Son of a - "). There is one line where it says, "Get your head of your butt and back in the game".
Age Range: 16+
Content: Kissing (mild), one scene where two characters sleep together - though it wasn't a sex scene. They just fell asleep. There was talk about a woman going to bed with guys. Violence is medium - there are people dying. One scene slightly disgusting with people vomiting.
Favorite Character: Iskra, Mercy, Baddar and Cell. Leif was my favorite... but things change a little and he isn't quite on my top list anymore.
Favorite quote: "That's what she said" (Just read the book - it's not what you think :) ).

Conclusion:
Once again, Ronie Kendig wrote an amazing story! Great character development, plot twists that I was not expecting, and action/suspense that kept me turning the pages. Exceptional work and excitement! The ending took me by surprise and I hope that the third and last book has a happy ending. Highly recommend this book and author.

The Book of Wars is still at the forefront of Reaper’s mission, but that is complicated by having to stop an organization that plans to usurp Bible prophecy. Leif has his own struggles with trying to keep his objectives clear while finding out what happened in the time span he can’t remember.

Kings Falling continues the series and the action. Ronie Kendig’s writing grabs your attention and holds onto it. Her use of appropriate terminology and the right mix of action and suspense keep you turning pages. When I reached the last page, I was still wanting more to read. I look forward to next book so that I can see what happens. She is good at describing the characters so that they are easy to imagine, both what they look like and how they act. You can picture being in the room with them and seeing them interact with each other.

Throughout the fight to stay ahead of their enemies, and the trouble that goes with that, Reaper faces problems that test their trust others and team members. They learn that some of the people they thought they knew are not what they seem. These twists add to the suspense and keep you wondering how things are going to turn out.
