From Goodreads:
Two sweet tales of mishaps, memories, and emotions that test the mettle of two Western couples in the Colorado high country at Christmas.

Just in Time for Christmas

Great book. I love when there is a collection of stories. They are short but that is just what you need during the holiday season.

I loved both of the stories in this book. Wonderful Christmas reading.
In Just in Time for Christmas we meet Abigail and her childhood friend Seth. We watch as they fall in love while trying to save her ranch.
In Snow Angel we meet Lena, our twice orphaned heroine and Will, a broken cowboy.
Both are clean, historical and inspirational. I highly recommend this book and author.
Thank you Davalynn Spencer, Wilson Creek Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me an advance copy for my honest feedback.

Warm, wholesome, historical fiction, these holiday reads set in the "high country" are poignant escapes to a time and place of wide-open spaces, strong characters, challenges of elements and society, and the healing powers of love. Well-written with absolutely vivid settings and charming storylines, I loved escaping into these easy-to-read, seasonal romances.

A High- Country Christmas: Romance Collection
By Davalynn Spencer
These were both charming historical romance stories. I got to snuggle up in the evenings approaching Christmas and read this collection. What a treat.
A quote that caught my attention, “He supposed it was a matter of trust. He’d ask for help, now he had to trust he’d heard right, …” I had to take a moment to think about this line. How many times to do I ask and then impatiently take action? To answer that, often. This gave me something to pray on.
Not only were these stories sweet and clean they gave me food for thought. I enjoyed reading this collection.
I received a copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

I love it when I am introduced to a new author and it's love at first read. That's what happened with Davalynn Spencer's A High Country Christmas. This book contains two of Davalynn's previous books, Just In Time For Christmas and Snow Angel. These both were delightful Christmas Stories. They tugged at my heartstrings right from the very first pages. Both books are about two special girls, the first one, Abigale Millerton, orphaned twice. First when her parents died and later in her teens when she lost her adopted grandparents. Her childhood friend Seth comes to help her when she needs him most. The second story Snow Angel starts with a four year old little girl Lena Carver out making Angels in the snow. Her rescuer comes many years later in the form of an injured cowboy Will Bergmann. This author has a special ability of making the setting come to life. Her characters are so real, you want them as friends. I loved these books and read them during the Christmas season. I feel they would be enjoyed no matter when they are read. It would make a wonderful gift too. I received a copy of this book from Wilson Creek Publishing through NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are my own.

If you are looking for a couple of Christmas stories to read in the holiday season, Just in Time for Christmas and Snow Angel might be just what you are looking for. Davalynn Spencer creates lovable and believable characters with lives readers will care about. The female protagonist in each story has a problem to overcome – the death of her last family member in one story and a deformity that makes her feel unlovable in the other. Set in the high country of Colorado at Christmas-time, snow plays a factor in both stories.

I enjoyed both stories and found them to be quick reads in the midst of holiday preparations.

I would not hesitate to add A High Country Christmas Romance Collection to my k-12 Christian school library. It would be appropriate for middle school and up.

I want to thank Book Review Buzz, NetGalley and the author for the complimentary e-copy of A High Country Christmas Romance Collection. This is my honest review.

A High Country Christmas: Romance Collection consists of two novellas. The first, Just in Time for Christmas, opens in 1875 in El Paso County, Colorado Territory. Abigale Millerton and Seth Holt have been friends since childhood. Now that Abigale's family is dead she is determined to maintain the family property. However, Seth is concerned about her safety and he is beginning to admit he wants more than a friendship. Can he convince Abigale they can have a life together? Skillfully told, the author places readers into the time and place of the narrative. The well developed characters are endearing and deserving of a happy life.

The second story, Snow Angel, opens in 1864 in Colorado Territory. Lena Carver is four years old and sets off to make snow angels and wanders too far.. Twenty years later, readers learn what happened as a result of her adventure. She is now living with her brother and has accepted that she will not marry and have a family of her own. Unexpectedly, Wil Bergman comes into her life and life changes for both of them.

The beautifully written romantic stories are about fiercely independent women and the men who are smart enough to accept this and to love them for it. The author's vivid description of the time period bring the stories to life. It was a pleasure to read them.

I received a complimentary copy of the book through NetGalley. The opinions expressed in tis review are my own.

A High Country Christmas is a combination of two later 1800 novellas set in the High Country of Colorado. The first story is Just in Time for Christmas. Abigale Millerton returns to her adopted grandparents’ ranch shortly after her Pop’s funeral with the intent of running it, the trouble is the barn is in great need of repair and the stock has been sold off for the most part. Even the old dog, who has found his way home, was taken in by the pastor. Abigale, who hates heights, tries to construct her own ladder up the side of the barn to repair the very leaky roof. But when a slat gives, Abigale falls and is knocked unconscious. Later that day, her friend and neighbor Seth Holt happens by to check the few remaining animals and finds an unconscious Abigale. This story follows the two young people as they find their way with poachers, wildlife, and family.

Snow Angels is the story of Lena Carver. A tragic occurrence 20 years prior has set her life in motion as the single assistant to her brother, Dr. Taylor Carver. Taylor finds a badly injured Wil Bergmann and brings him back to their office/home to try to mend his broken leg and multiple other injuries. Initially fearful of their new patient, Lena soon grows to appreciate his company, but feels there is no future for one such as she. This story follows an unlikely pair who just may be watched over by snow angels.

These are lovely old west stories which is usually not a genre I enjoy. But these are such good stories that I did enjoy them and do recommend this book.

Two lovely feel good stories about cowboys with a Christmas setting. I enjoyed both stories, but especially loved the second one.

A nice collection of 2 romances set in the late 1800s. The first one had young Abigale and Seth trying to deal with someone stealing her grandfather's trees while she is trying to get her ranch back together in rural Colorado. I did like this one, but the issue with the trees seemed glossed over, considering how much importance was put onto it. At times, while I did enjoy it, I felt like this novella was a section taken out of a fuller book. The second story had young Lena helping her doctor brother Tay take care of a man he found injured under a tree. Really liked this one, and had trouble putting it down. In both stories I enjoyed the dog characters as well, as they added a lot to the stories. Would highly recommend and a fun easy Christmas read.
