In a world of political turmoil, this is a great story about two teen strangers who help each other to navigate an unreliable voting system. Both teens fight the odds stacked against them while connecting with each other and helping the community to get to the polls. The message of the story is clear and illustrates a way that teens can overcome adversity to make a differences while making friends and feeling connected to something greater than themselves.

I highly recommend this book and I will be recommending it to my students.

thank you for the advance copy.

This was such a sweet read and definitely the first of many I will be reading by this author. I found all the characters relatable in their own way. The romance aspect was written so well.

A fun read with lots of obstacles to prevent our main characters from trying to reach their goal of voting. Covers important issues about race along the way.

When Duke is denied at his polling place, Marva is determined to make sure he can cast his ballot. They spend all of election day together on this simple mission and learn a lot about each other along the way. Marva is a lovable character who embodies all the spirit and enthusiasm that we see in this next generation. It will inspire readers to do better.

(i received an e-arc from tor and netgalley in exchange for an honest review.)

this was the perfect and timely contemporary romance for our generation. i enjoyed the natural chemistry and of course, the banter between the two main characters.

I loved this soooo much! It reminded me of The Sun is Also A Star by Nicola Yoon - I think I say this mainly bc it's a YA set in one-day. This is such a great read to introduce teens (especially BIPOC) to what to expect on election day and it will help with Election Day jitters. Marva is such a great, complex character. I loved how passionate she was about politics and advocacy. I also just love seeing protagonists who are nerdy and her having a viral Instagram account for her cat was such a fun addition to the story! Both characters are fleshed out and have personalities. You really get to see their personalities shine through the book as you learn about Duke and Marva's passions, likes, and dislikes plus their families. The Voting Booth also has conversations about voter suppression, prejudice, and white privilege when it comes to voting. Brandy Colbert is excellent and I'm so glad I got to read this.

The Voting Booth By Brandy Colbert is an adorable story about teen relationships and activism. What to do when you are turned away and can't vote? Can your voice still be heard? Read The voting Booth and find out for yourself. Another hit for Brandy Colbert!

I really enjoyed this socially aware romantic comedy. I appreciated the author's discussion of race and the importance of civil service and voting. I normally don't enjoy books that take place in one day, but I had so much fun following these characters that I completely forgot about the time! I have included this book on several library lists and displays.

At this moment I have dnfed this book. I’m not interested at it at this time. I definitely still want to read it but just not right now. I hope and plan to pick it back up at a later date.

I tried to take a step outside of my comfort zone with The Voting Booth but unfortunately, this one just missed the mark for me. I don't usually read contemporary so that's probably why I didn't enjoy it. But I can definitely see this being enjoyable for someone else who does like and read the genre!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review!

This book was very well done! Even though it’s a story about only one day, there’s a lot of background and history about the character’s lives packed in. It has really great pacing and was really a fast read.

Great nods toward the importance of politics and current issues. Would love to read more from this author!

Cute romance that takes place on Election Day. It tries to raise consciousness about various social injustices, but the fact that it is a romance means that these issues, including those regarding lack of access to the polls, are solved in a Hollywood-y, happy-ending sort of way.

Omg this book was so cute I'm so disappointed that I didn't read it sooner!!
It's just a cute little one day romance centered around Marva helping Duke get his vote in on election day. If you've found you need a light, easy read this is where you should look next! This book has everything: cats, friendship, awesome parents, new crushes, teenagers exercising their civic duties. What's not to like?

4.5 but I'm always generous.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the free e-ARC buuuut it took me reading it for book club at work for me to get to it. Oops.

This is a lovely story about one crazy day leading to the dawning of a new life for many people - not just the hero and heroine. I am very privileged to not have faced discrimination because of my skin color or SES, but it's so important to have stories about characters that do. Just because it doesn't happen to us doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

My only cons were some side plots that felt flat and rushed that could have been eliminated, and the point of Marva's boyfriend felt like I was being asked to believe a bit too much. His motivations didn't make sense to me and while I didn't adore his character, I felt the flashbacks weren't enough to set the "he's always been a terrible person" stage. He came off more crazy than anything else.

Important book that's a fairly easy read.

I regret not picking this book up when it first came out! This book symbolizes the importance of voting as a minority. Although the adventures the two main characters go through are extreme, these are some of the things that occur all the time in marginalized neighborhoods that prevent the right to vote. This book takes place in literally a day, election day, and follows two black teens who by chance meet at a voting booth and spend the rest of the day trying to vote. Throughout the book, there are so many things to happen that make it harder to vote. I recommend this book for teens who are about to reach the voting age to learn the importance of voting and to learn about voting discrimination but it was an interesting read in genuine.

Potential trigger warnings: death of a loved one; voting discrimination; police brutality

I love Brandy Colbert so much. This was a wonderful story that was easy to read but still tackles some important issues. It takes place over the course of one day and would be perfect for young readers coming up on voting age.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for my copy of The Voting Booth by Brandy Colbert. All opinions are my own.

This was an adorable romcom that also tackled voting restrictions & issues, which was very timely with what we're seeing in America at the moment.

Could I love this book any more than I did?! Marva and Duke are such a cute couple but I loved that this book wasn't really about the budding romance between the two (after all, Marva has a boyfriend for most of the book!). It was really about two teens fighting and standing up for what was important to them. I loved seeing the civic duty and discourse they engaged in, and wished that I was as civically-minded when I was teen. I loved their parents, their friends, and the Insta famous cat also made for a fun side story too. So much to love in this book!

Brandy Colbert has become one of my favorite authors. This book *might* be my favorite of hers yet because her badass teenage characters take on voter suppression on Election Day while also being teens and navigating feelings and parents and siblings and assholes. I loved every word. I need a sequel. I need a movie.
