I love Buzz Books! The only problem is that my virtual "To Read"stack gets higher than my head for the upcoming several seasons.

Thank you so much for all the sneak peaks! There looks to be some very interesting books coming out soon, and I cannot wait. While I probably won’t read most of the books sampled, I find this one of the most helpful things I can get each season as a bookseller.

If you’re new to these Buzz Book samplers I highly recommend you give it a try. I discovered them last year and it’s a really fun way to check out new books. I found a couple I loved last year that surprised me by being out of my normal reading genres. I found a couple in this sampler that also seemed promising and immediately went to request them. This sampler will give you a great opportunity to check out different books and see what might appeal to you. We all know some books can sound great but not end up being our style of book so with this sampler you can check out the author’s writing style to see if it’s a good fit. It’s like the book version of a variety of trailers. I did find this sampler to be more political than I’d prefer but it’s super easy to skip through books that don’t appeal to you. On my kindle I can go to the table of contents and easily skip a book so you do not have to page through a book that’s not for you. This is a really great way to check out a variety of authors and styles to see if there’s something that might surprise you.

A preview of the best of the new books for the season and it's FREE!
There are so many enticing new books in Spring/Summer edition, I decided to be selective in what I could realistically add to my 'to read' pile. For me, the top of the list is Emily St. John Mandel's (sequel to STATION ELEVEN) THE GLASS HOTEL(Wished). Others I jotted down include Zoje Stage's WONDERLAND; Mary Kay Andrews' HELLO, SUMMER; and Denise Mina's THE LESS DEAD. I've asked to read Gail Godwin's OLD LOVEGOOD GIRLS and decided I was brilliant because I had already requested and received Barbara Delinsky's A WEEK AT THE SHORE.
First introduced for the 2012 Book Expo America, the FREE digital Publishers Lunch Buzz Books has become the place for both industry professionals and book lovers in general to discover and read about the books expected to spark high demand BEFORE they are published!
The Introduction gives a nice overview of the upcoming publishing season broken down by literary fiction, debut fiction, commercial fiction, and followed by non-fiction conversation starters, memoir & biography.
What's really great is that after many selections, you have the option to follow a link and request the complete galley copy from Net Galley if you qualify as a 'professional' reader.
Check out Buzz Books on Amazon. Did I mention it's FREE!

Love this collection of excerpts from upcoming books for the spring/summer to help me shape my TBR and discover new authors. Thank you!

I truly appreciate the selection of novels Buzz Books compiles into this collection. The debut novel selection is especially helpful as most authors are new to me! This gives me a great reader's advisory advantage when we choose and receive new books at our library.
Plus, for a busy reader, having the option to sample dozens of books at once is an excellent opportunity to read books I would not usually have picked for myself.

Loving a lot of these excerpts, so many great released to look forward to and some of the authors that will be new to me. What a year it is going to be for readers!!

Reading through these I found a handful of books I'm interested in I feel I would likely not come across in my normal circles including a book about eels, imagine that. I love knowing what tense a book is written in, too. I feel like a lot of times it really matters so I appreciate being able to read the first chapter and get a feel for a book and whether I'll enjoy the perspective.

Hooray for a new group of Spring releases! I'm most excited for Enter the Aardvark. Political intrigue, secrets and taxidermy, what more could you want!

I love to receive this packed volume of book excerpts and future pub dates and insight on the upcoming books to be published. Always thrilled to receive it and to be 'in the know' with the upcoming titles that the publishing world is buzzing about! Thanks so much for the Buzz Books Spring/Summer 2020 Edition1

Once again another great preview of upcoming novels in the industry. I love getting these! My TBR always grows exponentially.

I love the Buzz Books previews. I wish they did this more often. They do nothing more than make my To Be Read pile grow. I am really looking forward to the new book from Sue Monk Kidd in particular.

Buzz Books for 2020: Spring/Summer edition, is a catalog of books due out all through this year; in fact it's a treasure-trove of wonders! I personally wait for Publishers Lunch to deliver this book into our waiting "ehands" to discover new, debut authors, seasoned authors, and the next best read by the new hot author from last year; in both fiction and nonfiction. You can't miss!
Plus, tons of excerpts from these exact same authors. Yes, read that again! Excerpts of the books you're just dying to read, now! Right on your own reading device. Look at the cover: Sue Monk Kidd, Mike Birbiglia, Amy Meyerson, David Rawlings, Akwaeke Emeezi, Ann Solomon, Erica Katz, David Nicholls, and so many more.
And lists! Lists of books, authors, and dates - publication dates! Mark them all on your calendar; color code them.
Fun for the whole family; or you and a glass or two of your favorite beverage.
Just don't miss out. It's yours for the asking. You'll never be sorry. How could you? It's all about new books! Enjoy!

This book was just a listing of novels to use as a reference.. there was no novel per se, just titles under different headings

I love that NetGalley provides this sampler to get you ready for upcoming Spring and Summer reads. Thank you!
Part One - Fiction
Part Two - Debut
Part Three - Non-Fiction
Part Four - Young Adult

Another great list of forthcoming titles with excerpts, which always helps in selecting what will go into your library.

Thanks so much for providing these lists and excerpts. Is there a way to link directly from a title listed in the front to the excerpt given toward the back? It would just be easier to navigate on my kindle. Thanks!

This is my first time using Buzz Books and I absolutely love it. It's perfect for getting a feel of the books that will be coming out in 2020. They break it up by fiction, non-fiction, debut, and young adult. The excerpts are perfect for deciding whether you will try them out through Netgalley. I'm going to look forward to reading Buzz Books each season!

Love all the new books coming out this year. Thanks for putting this out!
This is my first introduction to Buzz Books and Netgalley

Many thanks to NetGalley and Publishers Lunch for an ARC in exchange for an honest book review of Buzz Books Spring Summer 2020. My thoughts and opinions are 100% my own and independent of receiving an advance copy.
A new year and a new crop of books. Over 600 books and 44 excerpts inside this collection. The excerpts cover four categories of Fiction, Debut, Non Fiction, and Young Adult. I personally am trying to be a little more discerning when it comes to requesting books or adding them on my wish list. I’m not sure if I’m getting better at it, or if the selection didn’t pique my interest but I didn’t feel like “I MUST ADD EVERYTHING”. I’m finding some topics are inundated with new releases and I just don’t want to read the same thing over and over. Immigration and other hot button issues are rampant. That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t hear those stories, but after a few I become fatigued. It also doesn’t mean they are all good. Same with historical fiction. A lot is WWII based and there seems to be a huge “orphan” theme of late. I am a little overloaded so it’s nothing against that time period, it’s just I would like some alternate times in history to explore.
That being said, I still did add a bunch to my list. I love the beginning section of these Buzz Books because although there are an overwhelming number of books, it is easy to see what your favourite authors are publishing or if there is a new release in a series that you follow. There is a large selection of excerpts and I find it really helpful in getting the feel of a book you might not otherwise pick up. Sometimes the topic is interesting, but I can tell that I will not enjoy the way the book is written and other times the opposite. I find something I never thought I would like and then I am so excited that I can hardly wait until it is released. I promised no more non fiction and then I added another three. “The New One” is written by a comedian and is a dad’s perspective on adding a baby to their family - so funny and not a perspective often heard. “Good Boy: My Life in Seven Dogs”, well, you had me at dogs so ya…Again, I tried to be picky when it came to Young Adult. Most of my selections came out of the Debut section. With the excerpts, I was able to find ones I am excited to read.
Stayed tuned to hear what I’ve been awarded by NetGalley, what I purchase, and as always, find all my reviews on my blog Pink Purl and Prose. If you want to know what is coming up this Spring and Summer grab a copy of Buzz Books, free from any store that sells the ebooks. It really is a great way to see the breadth of what is out there and maybe find a hidden gem!
