Solidly good, fast-paced psychological thriller. Keeps you guessing until the end, and even if you figure out who the "bad guy" is, knowing the reasons and motive behind it all will definitely be a surprise.
I wasn't a big fan of Faith, I thought that she self-medicated way too much for my comfort, it got a little old to read about the drugs and the drinking and the drugs...etc. You'd think if your life was as messed up as hers and you needed to try to prove your innocence you'd try to hold it together a bit better. She doesn't even try.
Overall though, there are suspects galore and red herrings galore, so the way the author puts the puzzle together for the reader is creative and intriguing. Good choice for a suspense novel for the summer.

Faith seems to have it all. She is a psychologist with a great career, a best selling author and hosts a radio program, Someone's Listening. Her husband, Liam is a food critic.
Then one night everything goes wrong and her life is shattered.
Faith and Liam are driving back from a book party and get into an accident. Faith wakes up and asks about her husband. The police say he wasn't with her. She says yes he was. Where is he? She is not believed and Liam is missing.
Then she starts getting notes that are things from her book.
I have never read anything by this author before but I am looking forward to more of her books.
Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin for the ARC to review.

I didn't really care for the MC Faith, she just kept doing stupid sh*t!
I was totally down for how complex all the other characters were and how much shade was thrown around though.
Everyone had secrets and it made the book addictive.
Thanks goes to NetGalley & HARLEQUIN – Trade Publishing for my DRC.

The author grabbed me and didn't let go. I kept guessing as the characters were introduced, and yes, I guess wrong. I got blindsided!
Old boyfriend, odd lady that was put out of business because of a review, business associate, former patient, the list goes on.
Who wants our girl Faith, author, Phycologist, and now widow, dead? At times I wondered if she would actually kill herself, and how she even functioned.
A woman whom as a child was horribly abused and raised by dysfunctional parents, was living the good life, as a successful practice and now a book, along with a blissfully happy marriage.
Talk about hitting rock bottom, and trying to survive, we walk in Faith's shoes with her, and wonder if in the end she will be alive.
A stunning thriller mystery that will keep you up late page turning.

I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Harlequin, and was not required to give a positive review.

Faith Finley is a successful psychologist with her own radio show named “Someone’s Listening”. She has built a reputation for helping the abused escape from their dangerous relationships. Her whole world comes tumbling down when a former patient accuses her of sexual misconduct. Although this type of delusional behavior fits his pathology, doctor-patient privilege prevents Faith from using his diagnosis to defend herself. As the news outlets increase their coverage she sees bits of her life being wrestled away from her. So when her husband Liam disappears the night of her book signing it is no surprise that detectives assume he has flown the coop.

Her credibility shot, Faith knows that she is on her own. If she wants answers into Liam’s disappearance she needs to get them herself. Throughout her dogged pursuit Faith proves herself to be relentless and reckless. I struggled with her character at times. Even though I applauded her persistence, I felt that as an educated smart woman she made some really stupid decisions. When she started calling Carter after his accusations went live, I could have reached into the kindle and smacked her. I just felt like someone should have been there to knock some sense into her. But ultimately she chased down the leads that no one else would.

For a debut mystery novel, Seraphina Nova Glass does a fine job of introducing doubt into the cast of characters’s motives. She offers up many suspects to keep readers guessing. And I have to say, if a book gets you so invested in the character that you fell the need to intervene as you would on behalf of a friend that says a lot about the novel’s character development and relatability. I look forward to reading Seraphina Nova Glass’s next novel The Seduction which is scheduled to be released Summer 2021.

Someone's Listening is an entertaining and well-written psychological suspense novel. Faith Finlay is a successful and well known psychologist; she has a radio talk show, is a best-selling author and has a private practice. Her husband, Liam, is a food and wine critic. Their lives are busy, but they are happy.

Or so Faith thought.

Coming home from a book signing for her latest book, they are in a car accident. Faith wakes up in the hospital and asks if Liam is alright. The nurses and doctors sidestep her questions until the police tell her that there is no indication Liam was in the car with her. She is certain he was, but they don't believe her. They declare him a missing person.

When Faith tries to find out what happened to Liam, everything she learns only raises more questions. Then threatening notes start appearing at her home, notes that include phrases ripped out of one of her books. She is being targeted, but why and by who?

The story is told in the voice of Faith in before and after the accident time periods. Twists and turns are plentiful, and the reader watches Faith spiral downward, becoming paranoid about everyone and everything (but are you really paranoid if someone is really after you?) and drinking more and more as she struggles to deal with all that is falling apart in her life.

Note: this book deals with several types of abuse. Those sensitive to that subject may want to pass on this novel.

My sincere thanks to NetGalley and Graydon House for allowing me to read a digital copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased review. All opinions stated here are my own.

In this psychological thriller, the main character faces her husband's disappearance and starts to question everything she knows or thinks she knows. All she remembers was that she was in the car with him and they were involved in an accident. But when she wakes up in the hospital, they tell her she was the only one in the car when they pulled her out of it. Then a lot of things that don't make sense start happening. She starts to question even her professional conduct as a psychologist. What I like about this book is that the twists and turns are kind of unexpected - just like the main character, you don't really know what is happening almost up until the end. You know what she knows, which is not much to begin with.

Finally successful and happy, but then Faith’s life fell apart.

One of her teenage clients accused her of sexual assault, her husband disappears, but then is found dead with a gunshot to the head.

She knows she is a suspect because she was the last one to see him alive.

But...what about all the things Liam did like taking out a large sum of cash, taking his passport, and leaving a cryptic email that was to go to no one in particular but could have been for any number of people.

Many things happen that have Faith questioning what really happened and how it happened.

Then one day Faith opened her mailbox and found something unexpected - actually shocking. It was a page torn out of the book she wrote giving advice about safety.

These pages keep showing up in random places. Just what is going on?

The only good thing is that the things that are happening should take the focus off of Faith as a suspect in her husband’s death.

SOMEONE'S LISTENING is filled with twists and pretty much unlikable characters that have bad habits.

You will be confused about everything happening just like the main character, but that is what makes SOMEONE'S LISTENING a good read.

The book has a slow buildup, but an edge-of-your-seat ending as it all comes together and the stalker/murderer gets his plan to completion. 4/5

This book was given to me by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

5/5 Stars - Didn’t guess that ending at all!

This book has a lot of great pieces that come together perfectly to create a mystery that kept me guessing until the big reveal. There are enough moving parts to create plenty of suspense and keep readers guessing.

The great part about the mystery is that it’s not clear whether Faith can be fully trusted, because she’s obviously been going through a lot and drinking plenty, which means she’s inherently unreliable. This really ramped up the suspense for me because I was equal parts rooting for her and equal parts frustrated by her choices - it’s a great balance that kept me turning pages late into the night. The ending fit rally perfectly into the story as well and i was blown away seeing everything fall into place.

As I said, I liked Faith, she’s in a terrible situation and things are disintegrating around her. It’s interesting to see how she handles it and how her choices play out. They’re not all the choices I would’ve made, but that was the exciting part. It was a good escape from reality.

I really enjoyed this first novel from this author and I would definitely read more from her. Can’t wait to see what’s next!

Another thriller that delivers. So many red herrings that I found myself doubting things all over the place. I was convinced I had it figured out and then so much happened I was like "Wait, wait". To me that is sign of a good novel, when I think I have it figured out and then it takes a left turn. Amazing!

Faith was a complex character. and I went from hating her to feeling sorry for her to hating her again. All in all a really good book!

WOW!

If I could only use one word to describe this book, wow would probably be it. The author, Seraphina Nova Glass, completely grabbed my attention and didn't let go it until the very last page. I found myself reading this every chance I got.

The characterization was so well done that I often felt like I was in the main character, Faith's, head and it was an alarming place to be. There were times I really worried about this woman who was so overwhelmed by the tragic events in her life that she appeared to be completely vanishing down the rabbit hole with alcohol and pills. But the author doesn't stop there. She ramps the circumstances up another notch, then another one, and then another one, until all I want is to find out what in the world is going on here. I have several suspects in mind, but since I can't be sure, I'm completely glued to the pages.

So WOW! Just WOW!

Someone’s Listening is just as delightfully creepy as the title sounds. When Faith Finley wakes up in the hospital after a car accident, she wants to know the whereabouts of her husband. She insists that he was in the car with her. The police insist that he has runoff. Discovering what happened to Liam Finley is just the beginning of this highly suspenseful story that left me breathless.

What I Loved

I loved that the main character and narrator is a psychotherapist who is so damaged that she is unable to acknowledge that she is struggling. Even before Faith’s car accident, she has been trying to drink away her problems, and her use of Klonopin is suspect. She is on a downward spiral, which makes everyone’s reaction to her husband’s disappearance understandable. Faith’s mental health issues are just one layer in this multi-layered tale that builds until you have a story so complex that you can’t imagine even a fraction of a happy ending.

I love that the suspense is non-stop. At no point did I come up for air as the story went from bad to worse. I am a big fan of increasing suspense within a story and the resulting thrill factor. I also love that just when you think the thrills must be plateauing, they are ramped up even higher. It exhausted me towards the end, but I still didn’t want to get off the ride.

The setting was lovely because it was somewhat different. It is set in Chicago and a small town outside of the city. The juxtaposition of the two areas worked well in adding to the suspense as Faith left the small town that feels safe for the more dangerous big city.

The language is very natural and flows nicely throughout the story. The reader is very much in Faith’s head as she tells her tale, which can be cumbersome at times due to her mental health issues and the way the telling stays true to the character. This works to help the reader connect to Faith and to develop her personality and build those intricate layers of suspense.

Of course, since this a psychological thriller, I will be brief and not give away details that could spoil the story and ruin some of the fun of the numerous surprises along the way.

Someone's Listening is an atmospheric thriller with a sense of tension that keeps mounting throughout the story. I liked the pace and the way the story was plotted, though didn't feel all that connected to the characters. All in all, a solid mystery!

Someone’s Listening is a suspenseful and twisty story with a very enticing beginning. I was hooked from the very first page, though somewhere in the middle I started to lose my interest, and the main protagonist was turning into a less than likable character. However, the author quickly redeemed herself with a fast-paced, edge of my seat ending, and even though I quickly figured out who the perpetrator was, there were few moments where I doubted myself.

In the end, Someone’s Listening is a solid 4 stars suspense/thriller book, and I recommend it to anyone that enjoys this kind of stories.

Someone’s Listening is a slow burn with a fantastic ending that I never saw coming! I love Saraphina Nova Glass’ writing style and the way she made everyone look like a suspect.

Huge thank you to Graydon House, Harlequin, and NetGalley for allowing me the incredible privilege of reading this book in advance!

Quick read, though it was more predictable than I would have preferred. Some parts did drag a bit, but it balanced out in the end. There are a few red herrings and an unexpected twist, but it didn't "WOW" me as I'd anticipated. Too much background info at the beginning made it hard to engage, but the ending was better.

This is a rather intense on the edge of your seat book. The title makes me think of the TV sitcom Frazier. I couldn’t help but feel like I had already read a similar book. I did enjoy the book for the most part. It bothered me that Faith drank so much and popped pills. I understand where she was coming from. It did keep me guessing. Thanks to Netgalley and Graydon House for the early copy

Someone’s Listening by Seraphina Nova Glass is a standalone thriller. Faith Finley, our heroine, is a famous psychologist, who is also a bestselling author and tv personality; Faith writes or talks about abused women and how to leave their abusers. The story switches between two POV’s (all Faith), but ‘then’ and ‘now’. It begins with the ‘then’ Pov, where there is a horrific car crash after she and her husband, Liam left a party. When Faith regains conscious, she tries to find out how Liam is, with everyone avoiding her. Finally, the police tell her that she was alone in the car, and her husband was not there. Faith has a long recovery ahead, but she knows something is wrong, as she fully remembers Liam in the car with her. What is going on? Where is Liam?

The ‘Now” POV picks up with Faith having recovered and desperately trying to find out what happened to Liam. At first the police do suspect Faith, since there is no sign of Liam anywhere. But when Faith begins to received veiled threats, the police change tactics to look if he left town, or who is behind the strange notes she keeps getting. Despite the police, her sister, and friends telling her to leave the investigation to the experts, Faith continues to do her own investigations.

During the ‘Then’ Pov we also learn that a former client, a teenage boy, claims that Faith had sexual relations with him; she is shocked, and knows this is not true. This causes her to lose her show, and receive a lot of negative feedback; Liam believes and supports her. The story about half way in stays in the “Now” time period, as Faith makes friends with her neighbors upon moving back to her condo, and begins to investigate rumors about Liam, missing money and his card. In time, as we get past the first half of the book, we learn some surprising truths, which will have the police pushing for more information on Liam.

The last third of the book is exciting, but I did have some mixed feelings. Faith was a good character, but did come across not totally likeable. I thought the story started a bit slow, and confusing at times, going back and forth; which didn’t really win me over.

Overall, Someone Listening was a suspenseful thriller, that kept us glued, unable to put the book down, as I needed to find out who the villain was. If you like thrillers, and don’t mind going back and forth between time periods, I suggest you read this book.

Oooh this was so good! It's a rare book that has such a complex list of characters, yet manages to maintain consistency and tie everything up without missing any of the connections. I love when everyone is a suspect and there are so many circumstantial events that you can't predict which of the characters is the real threat. The only thing that threw me off a bit was that Faith was a therapist, but resorted to pills and alcohol for anxiety and stress relief. But oh my gosh, that twisty ending had my heart pounding. I can't wait for Glass's next book to be published!

Thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin for an advance reader's copy for review.

Thank you to NetGalley, Seraphine Nova Glass and Harlequin for the free e-book in exchange for an honest review.

This one starts off with a thrilling bang and I really enjoyed the past and present perspectives to see what lead to this type of accident in the first place. I really enjoyed Faith and who doesn’t enjoy a novel where every character is a suspect? I found this one an easy binge read and I enjoyed the suspenseful atmosphere that Glass kept up the entire novel. The ending surprised me and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Definitely will be reading more novels by Glass in the future!
