*** Blog Tour ***

Lies, Lies, Lies by Adele Parks does have its twists and turns and some unknowns, but it is more family drama than thriller. The first half of the book centers more on the marriage, and the second half deals more with the reasons behind the big lie of the book. The story of the marriage is the more engaging one as it is more intimate, personal one.

Hey book lovers! I'm here with a book review for Lies, Lies, Lies by Adele Parks. I'm very grateful that Justine at Harper Collins invited me to be a part of the blog tour. There are some events that some may find triggering: alcoholism, car accident, sexual assault, domestic violence, and animal cruelty.

Fantastically-unlikable characters. I love "gray" characters who are never really all good or all bad, because that's not how people are in real life! Most humans live in the gray area, and what's right and wrong is often determined by life experience. I LOVE Leon. I can't explain who he is because I think you should go into this book not knowing too much. The only thing I wanted was more diversity.

› Final Thoughts
• Lies, Lies, Lies is certainly about lies and deceit, but it's also about second chances, sacrifice, and changing relationships that will leave you wondering, is it ever right to tell a lie? It's being marketed as a mystery thriller, but I find this is more of a domestic drama/suspense. Highly recommend!

A chilling domestic drama that lays bare the twisted secrets of a marriage that is falling apart, Lies, Lies, Lies is a nail-biting psychological crime thriller from much-loved best-selling author Adele Parks.

Daisy and Simon seem to be the perfect couple. Financially secure, successful and crazy in love with one another, they lead a life which most people would give their right arm for. The only thing that would make their marriage complete would be if they were blessed with a baby, but so far this doesn’t seem like it’s going to be possible for the couple. However, it seems like somebody has heard their prayers because after months of gruelling IVF sessions, sacrifices, disappointments and anguish, baby Millie comes into their lives. Everything should be even more perfect for the couple, but Millie’s arrival begins to expose the many cracks in their relationship…

Daisy is well aware that Simon likes a drink. She knows that he sometimes has one glass too many, but he is under a lot of stress and this is just a way for him to relax and blow some steam…or is it? As Daisy begins to realise that Simon is growing more and more dependent upon alcohol, she wonders whether her husband’s drinking might soon end up spiralling out of control and have a detrimental effect upon their marriage, their relationship and their daughter…

Parties are supposed to be an occasion to celebrate and let your hair down – until Daisy and Simon attend such an event and things end up damaged beyond repair. Nothing will ever be the same again for Daisy, Simon and Millie and their little family has been forever destroyed by lies, lies and lies…

A must-read for fans of Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl, Lies, Lies, Lies is one spine-chilling and terrifying page-turner that deftly explores toxic relationships, dangerous secrets and what really happens behind closed doors of the most perfect of marriages.

Twisted, nail-biting and creepy, Lies, Lies, Lies is a tense and terrifying thriller from Adele Parks’ immensely talented pen.

Simon and Daisy struggled most of their marriage to have a child. Then along comes sweet, little Millie. But all is not as rosy as it seems. Simon drinks way too much. And all it takes is one night for everything to fall apart.

Daisy is a character I just wanted to shake! Shake some sense into her! And don’t even get me started on Simon.

I really was not a huge fan of this book. But do not judge it by my opinion…it is an opinion. I was not a fan of the characters. They really were unlikeable. It is also very slow at the start of this read. Took too long to get to any action. And when it came down to the part about the cat, that just about did me in!

I received this novel from the publisher for a honest review.

Lies Lies Lies pretty much sums it up with this one since that's exactly what's at the core. Lies in a marriage, lies between friends, the lies we tell ourselves to get through bad situations, and the lies we present to others so they won't know how bad things have gotten. The story is more domestic drama than thriller with its pacing, but there are some pretty good twists along the way. It also gets darker than I expected, so I would warn that parts of this one are tougher to read than others, and even though I don't care for trigger warnings, this book probably needs a few. Warnings or no, this one did hold my interest. It's my first read by Adele Parks and I have to say that she does weave an intriguing tale. The characters are interesting - not necessarily likable, but interesting. In fact, I found myself not really liking any of the characters, at least not the adults, but this one doesn't really require a great amount of positive feels for the characters. That's not what the story is all about. So, rather than venture on into spoiler territory, I'll just say that the story held my interest, and the writing was good, which are two biggies for me, and two reasons that I'll check out other books by this author.

Meet Daisy and Simon. They are very much in love, and long to make their family complete.
Baby Millie is all they wished for. And they have a huge personal journey up to her birth.
Simon is addicted to alcohol, can he be there for his family?
Daisy tries to cope as best she can. But one night everything changes beyond what they ever thought possible….
Lies Lies Lies could not be a better title for this superbly twisty thriller about family and what it takes to keep it from tearing apart.

Secrets, wishes loyalty and trust all come into play in this excellent novel.
Thanks to Adele Parks and MIRA Books for my ARC in exchange for an honest and voluntary review.

Wow, What a ride this book took us on.
Simon and Daisy are married and they have a beautiful daughter, Millie. Simon is what they call a functional alcoholic until things get out of hand. Now Daisy wonders why she stays, she does love him but she hates him at the same time.
Daisy has her sister and her best friend, Connie and Lucy, who she doesn't like at first for reasons mentioned in the book. Let me tell you I did not like Connie from the start and I actually liked Lucy better. You could tell Connie was a busy body and thought her shit don't stink. I didn't get that impression from Lucy at all and when things all went south for Simon and Daisy I kept yelling at Daisy to go and talk to Lucy, she will listen and not judge you. Stay away from Connie.
The lies kept building up but the one lie I was so surprised about at the very end of the book.
The parties that Connie and her husband Luke had all the time just was a little much for me. They have kids and all the drinking that went on just didn't sit right with me.
Simon wants another child so bad and wants to go back to infertility treatments again. But Daisy is happy with just having Millie and besides she is in her 40s and doesn't want to go through that at her age.
This book was full of all kinds of emotions. We alcoholism, abuse, and post partem depression.
Things aren't always what they seem and the ending will shock you.
Thanks to Netgalley and Harlequin for the ARC.

Daisy and Simon always seemed to have a great marriage, especially after they finally had a daughter, Millie. Simon drinks too much, but it didn't seem that big a deal until Simon believes that Millie might not be his daughter.

We open with Daisy and Simon's alternating viewpoints; he wanted to push for another child when they already had problems conceiving in their marriage. The consultant at the fertility clinic declares him sterile, and he starts drinking more and more. Every disappointment and he reaches for a drink, mixing alcohols, and Daisy essentially is forced to look the other way because she handles everything else. She does all the domestic work in addition to her duties as a teacher, taking Millie to dance classes every Saturday and trying to be proper. Daryll is even worse than Simon, demeaning and demanding, forcing Daisy to do whatever he wants because others see him as charming and with a lot of money.

I like Millie the most, and she's a child that isn't the focus of the novel. I don't like Simon, but in comparison to Daryll he's practically an upstanding citizen. The adults drive me bonkers, and I don't like them much. Even so, reading the book is like watching a train wreck. I can't help but read to find out what happens next because there's so much happening and I need to know how everything turns out. It's a testament to the writing that I'm drawn in despite thinking that a lot of these people are unpleasant and the sort of self-absorbed that I would never want to spend time with in real life.

This was the first book I have read from Adele Parks and it won't be the last. It was shocking and I could not put it down. I read it in one sitting and that is super rare for me when it comes to thrillers. If you are looking for a good domestic thriller definitely pick this one up.

This domestic noir starts off as something of a family drama, with Daisy and Simon struggling to hold their marriage together in the face of failure to conceive a second child and Simon’s drinking causing increasing problems between them. It steadily gets messier and darker, with lies by all the major parties slowly being exposed and twisting a tangled web ever tighter.

There are some significant trigger warnings required here, including rape, sexual violence, serious injury to a child, mental abuse, coercion, alcoholism, infertility, animal abuse and more. The story is told in alternating point of view between Simon and Daisy, and although we start off with Simon as a child and see that from the very beginning he really had no chance in winning a battle against alcohol, it’s utterly impossible to like or feel sympathy for him as he put Daisy through absolute hell because of his alcoholism.

It’s also obvious from early on that Daisy is hiding something fairly serious - I guessed it correctly, but the reveal was still shocking, and there was a twist at the end which I didn’t see coming and which answered my question of why didn’t she do anything at the time? I won’t give it away; she did something wrong in a fairly small way, but there would have been extremely serious consequences for innocent parties if she’d done what was right for her, so she kept her mouth shut… and paid the price.

This is also a story of friendships and how they endure and change over the years, and how some friends turn out to be better than you ever imagined when the crunch comes. Daisy was a pretty terrible friend, judgy and resentful when she and Simon were judged in turn, but she had some seriously awesome friends who stuck by her through it all.

Was the final resolution satisfying? Yes… though I’m not sure it was entirely fair, especially not to Millie, Simon and Daisy’s daughter who was the one who ended up paying a high price for both of their poor decisions. Millie’s the real victim here, the one for whom I had the greatest sympathy.

If you like domestic noir stories, you’ll enjoy this, but I’m not sure it could really be called a thriller of any sort; it’s a bit too slow for that even though it does eventually build to some pretty shocking revelations and events. There’s a lot of stuff especially in the first third which felt tedious and mundane, I suppose to try and create contrast with what happened later, but I think it dragged on too long. Overall an enjoyable read though, and I’ll give it four stars.

This book has a lot of twists and turns. Every time I thought I knew exactly what was happening between the characters I was surprised. My favorite part of the story was what happens at the ending. I was very surprised by the ending. Parts of this can be difficult to read because of the content but it is handled well. I received a copy of this book from HarperCollins for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

This book might be better titled "Secrets, Secrets, Secrets", as the two main characters, couple Daisy and Simon, seem to withhold pretty important information from each other. I suppose the next recourse to that then leads to the Lies, Lies, Lies. And there are plenty of them. Mix well-intended friends with Simon's addiction to alcohol, and add in new information about their daughter Millie, and we've got a perfect storm.

The story is told from the points of both Daisy and Simon. I struggled a bit this as Daisy is in a first-person POV, while Simon is told through the third person. I suppose that drew me into Daisy's side more, but that felt like a given. Especially as we witness Simon's behavior. When the story opens he is pushing Daisy to see a fertility doctor when she's clearly stated she's not sure she wants another child. This activity is pivotal in what they go through over the following months. This leads to his disease (alcoholism), taking over their lives and leads to a cataclysmic event that forever changes and forces both Daisy and Simonto to tell the truth.

While the first third of the book is all set up, getting to know Daisy, Simon, Millie, and their friends. It's in the rest of the story is where their lives are unraveled. Daisy will be confronted by the worst kind of man and this is where her secrets pile up and force her down a path that is truly frightening, something that is hard to contemplate. But she's lost some control over her life. It's hard going for her and while she's not ready to forgive Simon, she less than ready for what she is confronted with. At this point, we start to see a new side to Simon. He really starts to examine his addiction, his behavior and recognizes that the struggle that never goes away. I started to feel very sorry for him as well.

I think Adele Parks does a great job developing the characters and the plot kept me very invested in the outcome. I started to feel anxious about it was going and I ended up reading the last two-thirds of the book in one fell swoop. I recommend this book to any reader of domestic suspense. 4 Stars!

These lies, lies, lies were not what I expected and this story was not either. Adele Parks lead me down one twisty road with turns that left me shockingly heartbroken. The story explores some dark realities like alcohol addiction, abuse, and infertility. This is not a light read or a dark twisted, thrilling and chilling thriller but more of domestic suspense.

The story explores the dark, messy married lives of our main characters Daisy and Simon. Simon has been drinking for a while, and it’s a behavior he is familiar with, and things seem good with them and their daughter. They believe the lies they tell themselves about Simon’s drinking. After learning a lie, Simon’s drinking spirals out of control, and I felt a sense of dread as to what was ahead for this family.

The story centers heavily around Simon’s drinking, and my heart was breaking with the lies he tells, and Daisy accepts. With every turn of the story, more lies and secrets are revealed. The suspense rises, and tension increases with each turn right up to the end.

Some of the twists to the story left me gasping for air others push it for me and didn’t add up for me, and I thought were done for the convenience of the story. In the end, it all worked for me. Just when I thought things were wrapping up, there is another twist to the story that left me surprised.

2.5 stars. Twisty, twisty, twisty!

Daisy and Simon are the proud parents of six-year-old Millie. Millie is a bright and vivacious child who lights up the room. Daisy and Simon struggled for many years trying to have a baby before Millie came. Simon really wants to give Millie a sibling. Years of trying again have failed and Simon’s drinking has become a full fledged addiction.

This novel started off strong. I felt emotionally connected to Daisy and Simon with their deep hearted struggle to expand their family. When the novels‘ focus turned to Simon’s alcoholism, my connection faded. Alcoholism is a devastating disease and it is depicted quite well through this story. However, I did feel that at several points, it was overdone. Many scenes, descriptions and chapters surrounding Simon dragged on too long. I felt for Daisy but was also quite frustrated with her accepting many of her predicaments as is, instead of fighting for what was right.

The entertainment factor is high — there is a lot of drama within this story. For me, the second half, most specifically the ending, took the drama way too far and I lost any connection I had made. Although there are many shocking twists that caught me by surprise, many of them felt forced and unrealistic.

I loved this authors previous book, I Invited Her In. Unfortunately this one doesn’t compare. However, I look forward to what she comes out with next in the hopes it is more like my first reading experience with her work.

Thank you to Harlequin and NetGalley for my review copy!

Oh my goodness! #lieslieslies is full of lies and conflict and heartbreak. A large group of college friends remain in touch through marriage, affairs, children and tragedy and this is the underlying thread of this novel. Everyone thinks they know the others but really no one knows what goes on even within their own household. I think this was told with style and in a nicely suspenseful way, I enjoyed the story and the alternating narrators of the chapters between the two main characters. I would read another story about these people. I thank #netgalley and the publisher for this ebook to read and review.

Lies Lies Lies by Adele Parks was a gripping and thrilling read. A story of the perfect family, right? It seemed once their daughter came, everything should have fallen into place for Daisy and Simon. Instead their lives take an unexpected turn they never saw coming. Now the lies are coming out and we are taken on a roller coaster of a ride in this thriller that touches on so many issues. The twists and turns will keep you at the edge of your seat!

I have enjoyed other books by this author and this book is just as good. It's dark and emotional and riveting. No one knows the private details within a marriage except for the couple in that marriage. What do you when that implodes? Read this well written story to find out when secrets are revealed in the light. Happy reading!

There are a lot of books out now that are about lies.... and secrets.... and more lies. It seems to be a trend, or maybe they're just the types of books that are grabbing my attention right now. I do love how each author puts their own spin on their characters' packs of lies.

Lies, Lies, Lies is full of secrets and lies—and characters I liked and then didn't like—because of the lies and secrets they were keeping. Simon and Daisy definitely have problems in their marriage. Drinking is Simon's escape but it makes Daisy question why she stays with him. Then one night, everything comes down on both of them and their lives are changed forever. More secrets and lies come out. Will that be what finally ends it for them?

This was an intriguing story with it's share of twists and turns. I was drawn into the story from the start and quickly devoured it—very satisfying. This is the first book by Adele Parks that I have read but she is definitely be on my radar now and I'll be eagerly awaiting her next book.

Page-turner with several twists and turns about a family who is full of lies/hidden truths. Makes for an interesting story. The husband drinks too much, gets into trouble and winds up arrested and the wife is found by him to be too social with someone else. What’s the reasonable response to either situation?

Good story and interesting, less than reliable characters, everyone (just about) lies.
