Mercury Steele's classic car has been stolen and the police hadn't found it. While driving he realizes that he sees the car. He call the police and then proceeds to follow the car. When the car is stopped it is a beautiful woman, Sloan Donahue, driving it. Said she bought it real cheap and she didn't think it was worth much as it was old. She was on the run from her family who was telling her who she had to marry and what to do.
Mercury is a billionaire playboy and doesn't know what to do with her so he takes Sloan to his mother to deal with her. What he doesn't count on is in helping her find an apartment and get her a bank account, because her dad has reaches in high places to stop her every move. Falling for her is not in his cards.
You could tell these 2 had chemistry off the bat and I enjoyed seeing what was going to happen to bring these 2 together.
I received this from Harlequin and NetGalley for review.

I was so excited to read another Steele book but I can honestly say that this story was not what I expected it to be. Sloan was super naive to the point that it was unbelievable. I had a hard time believing in the connection of the two main characters. Mercury spent the whole time avoiding her and they didn't actually spend any time together so when did they actually had time to fall in love? The story felt rushed and underdeveloped and I expected more of a resolution with the situation with her father. While I did love meeting up the the Steele family, this story was a huge miss for me

They’re back! Those six ultra handsome brothers with the Smokey Robinson eyes who are also known as the Bad News Steeles of Phoenix, Arizona. There are only two remaining single brothers, Mercury and Gannon. SEDUCED BY A STEELE is Mercury’s story. From the first chapter, the reader is quickly engaged when Mercury, a car collector, spots his vintage car on the street that he reported stolen. What are the chances! Of course he calls the police and follows the car until the driver parks it at a shopping mall. The confrontation between Mercury and the female driver marks the beginning of an intriguing story. Enter Sloan Donahue, the driver and “thief” of the “stolen” car.
Loved, loved, loved revisiting the Steele family of Phoenix, headed by Drew and Eden Tyson Steele, that has grown with the marriages of four of the brothers. If you are not familiar with Galen, Tyson, Eli and Jonas’ stories, I recommend them. At the opposite end of the side characters spectrum are the parents and want-to-be husband of Sloan. These folks are a piece of work. However, the Boo-Hiss Award goes to Sloan’s father, the pretentious Carter H. Donahue. I’ll let you discover why. As bad as he thinks he is, he is no match for the incomparable Mercury Steele. The Epilogue houses a wonderful HEA.

There was a lot to like about this book, which is about a wealthy sports agent who tracks down the woman driving his stolen car and gets reluctantly roped into helping her put her life back together. It's also about said woman, whose parents have cut off all access to her funds and are just generally engaging in really devious behavior, trying to start over.

What I Liked: The Steele's family dynamics.

What I Didn't Like: Billionaires. Idk, I'm just struggling with billionaires right now. This likely won't bother anyone else. I also didn't really get the romance. I am still not sure what Sloan likes about Mercury because he was kind of just a jerk for a lot of this. A jerk who wanted to help take care of her, admittedly, but still a jerk.

I think this one is very much a YMMV kind of book, but if billionaire's don't bother you, I say, go for it!

Sloan comes from an affluent lifestyle but when her parents try to force her into a marriage or shall we say business venture. She decides that she needs to forge her own path and has moved to Phoenix, but she didn’t expect the used car she bought to actually be a collector’s item that was stolen from Mercury.

After retiring from his professional football career Mercury is now a successful sports agent. When he sees his car, he decides to follow the driver and he may have gotten his car back but when the reach of Sloan’s parents hamper her living arrangements she finds herself living with his parents.

There is no denying the chemistry and connection between them but Mercury’s need to protect may have met his match when it comes to Sloan’s desire to be independent. It was fun watching these two maneuver around each other, and catching up with the rest of the family is always fun.

I don't know how I've missed the Steele's up to now, but they are certainly firmly on my radar now. The story is mostly just a witty, feel-good romance, and the characters are terrific. I will say that I felt like Sloan's parents were a little over-the-top as well as what happened with them toward the end, but that's just a small part of this story, which is primarily a romance. Mercury's arrogance is just enough to give him that sexy, self-assured aura without tipping over into jerkdom, and he and Sloan have great chemistry. The book is a pretty quick read, which is perfect for a weekender, or curling up to while away a rainy afternoon. I definitely enjoyed it, and now that I've met the Steele's, I want more of them.

A fun and quick romance from the Steele series by Brenda Jackson. I enjoyed Mercury and Sloan 's story. It started out unconventionally, when Sloan buys a car that was stolen, unbeknownst to her. When Mercury realizes the predicament she's in, he can't choose anything but to help a lady in distress. His family and friends, realize through his actions, that he's fallen for Sloan. At first he denies, saying he's helping a friend, but comes to realize his feelings run much deeper.

Although part of a series, It can be read as a standalone story.

I received a free ARC eBook from Net Galley and the publisher in exchange for my honest opinions.

When the “thief” caught driving his stolen vintage car turns out to be a stunning runaway heiress, Mercury Steele is conflicted. On the one hand, Sloane Donahue triggers the billionaire playboy’s protective instincts. But she also triggers red-hot desire.- Goodreads

I have never read any of the Forged of Steele books and its really not needed to read this one.  There are clearly references from the other books but it doesn't make the book muddle or make the reader feel lost by any means.

The book starts up right away with an introduction to Mercury who throughout the entire book is full of himself; from beginning to end. I didn't like him nor did I dislike him. I felt very neutral about him and a lot of that is because there wasn't any real character development. His viewpoint on love changes but I don't actually believe he changes.

The author doesn't dive into the characters as I would have liked. They are very surface level and this includes Sloane, which for the life of me I don't understand two things 1: the author doesn't really describe her in detail and 2: you cannot be that naive even when you are handed everything.  Again, very surface level characters. Even when things hit the the fan, it was brushed over with no follow up on it. It was as if it didn't really happen.

Overall, the story moved fast. The family is adorable and the sex scenes weren't bad.

Little spicy HQ romance.

The good thing about these stories is that the structure is still the same so you know what you’re going to get. So I have to say when I dived into the story I was amused but thankful for a book that captured my attention, was well written, and even added a bit of spice that we don’t traditionally see unless you’re reading the Desire series.

The story is an engaging Insta-love that will give you the warm and fuzzies. The surrounding characters are fun and lighthearted and seem to be a family that you would want to be around. Even though this book is part of a series, the book can be read as a stand-alone. Yay, because these Westmoreland brothers are totally hot!

This cozy and warm story is just right for any time you want to escape reality. The right amount of sizzle and spice to keep you happy and begging for more from Jackson!

Seduced by a Steele is the twelfth book in the Forged of Steele series by Brenda Jackson, I have not read the previous books but this one can stand up well on its own. It is currently scheduled for release on April 7 2020.

Will a damsel in distress be his redemption? A notorious heartbreaker is about to meet his match. When the “thief” caught driving his stolen vintage car turns out to be a stunning runaway heiress, Mercury Steele is conflicted. On the one hand, Sloan Donahue, penniless and on the run from her tyrannical family, triggers the billionaire playboy’s protective instincts. But she also triggers red-hot desire. Mercury refuses to think his simple seduction is becoming something deeper, especially when Sloan is keeping secrets.

Seduced by a Steele is a quick read with a nice dose of heat. Sloan wants no part of an arranged marriage that comes with a mistress, unfortunately escape means getting away from controlling parents with no funds of her own Mercury has no interest in settling down, but the attraction and desire to help Sloan are undeniable. I liked Sloan's desire for independence and wanting to work things out on her own, but I felt like she really never gained that agency in more than inconsequential ways. Mercury wanted to help, his money and connections were helpful but because of his ability to 'fix' just about everything I did not see Sloan get to do much more than say no to her ex and her father. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the read and liked the major characters and how they interacted, but I just felt like it came together almost too easily. I was waiting for a kidnapping attempt, or attack, or something big and dramatic other than verbal sparring and half truths being revealed.

Seduced by a Steele is a fast and enjoyable read, good for reading in a single sitting on a cold or rainy weekend afternoon.

I have read several Brenda Jackson books and I enjoyed this one. Mercury is a womanizer who loves woman and cars. When his car is stolen, he is ready to go after the thief but meets a lovely woman, Sloane, instead. He finds himself doing things he wouldn't normally do all because of Sloane. You'll enjoy this quick read.

My first Steele novel and a good start. Here are 6 brothers, this is the 5th of the brothers and his fall from the wild and single life. There is drama, manipulation, romance, steam and ends with an HEA. An easy, quick read. Add to your TBR list.

4.5 Stars

This is the twelfth book in the Forged of Steele series by Brenda Jackson for Harlequin Desire books.

In some ways I had a hard time believing how naive Sloan was. Her father had run her life, given her an allowance and allowed her to run free. But when she didn’t play by his rules, he completely cut her off financially. She buys a classic Camaro for $300 and when Mercury Steele sees his stolen car on the road, he follows her and wants her arrested. But then he meets this mysterious beauty, hears her story and goes against his better judgement and sends her to his mom for assistance.

I like how the entire Steele family was brought into this at one point to show Sloan how a normal family lived. This story was a really, really slow burn. In fact, I wasn’t sure if these two would drop their guards long enough to fall in love at all. Be prepared for a suspense bonanza here. It made the ending all the more sweet.

The whole situation is definitely a bit hard to believe but the author really pulls a great rabbit out of the hat and makes this a winner of a book. I look forward to picking up other books in this series.

Harlequin books may have a formula to them, but dang! That formula sure works for me!

I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.

A wonderful romantic story of two lonely hearts finding themselves before they’re ready to accept love and being loved. Mercury is a womanizer with the chant love ‘em and leave ‘em deeply rooted into his mind... living for the thrill of one-night stands. Sloan has purposely put her life into jeopardy by not realizing how the real world works thanks to her overly-controlling parents. In a sweetly quirky way, these two connect. Though it takes a lot of drama and learning how to live in this world the two have now discovered. There’s a lot of support coming from others that also helps Sloan learn for herself how life could and should be.
I received an advanced reader copy from NetGalley in exchange for my volunteer review.

As always Brenda Jackson hits a home run. This is an excellent book. I love the dynamic between Mercury and Sloan. The bad boy has been tamed! He can't seem to help himself when it comes to helping Sloan get out from under her dictatorial parents.
