Jenny goes to the beautiful village on the east coast, that specializes in perfect weddings. She works for her famous cousin, who is an actress in Hollywood, who is planning on marrying her actor boyfriend. They want a quiet wedding, and so Jenny goes and pretends to be the bride and sets up specifics for her cousin's wedding. Meeting Nick, the wedding cake baker, sparks fly, but she is sworn to secrecy and he thinks she is a bride. Good story overall, but lies and misconceptions seem like a bad start to a future relationship. Still though, enjoyed it and would recommend.

If you are looking for a good, clean romance, then look no further! If you love a good Hallmark movie-esque read, look no further!!! This one hit all the boxes on a romantic Hallmark movie book! I absolutely had the best time falling in love with the characters and Leigh Duncan's writing style. It was a home run for me!

This is exactly what I was looking for when I wanted to read romance in February. Jenny has always wanted to get married in Heart's Landing. She has shared this with her cousin who is also a famous movie star and her boss. When she decides to have a secret and fast wedding she grabs a cancellation in Heart's Landing and dispatches Jenny to plan the wedding for her. The only catch is that Jenny has to pretend she is the bride. With her cousin constantly changing her mind, Jenny and the vendors in Heart's Landing don't know how they are going to pull this off. Throw in the fact that Jenny is extremely attracted to the local cake maker and he secretly feels the same, things become a bit difficult and stilted. What will happen when Nick finds out that Jenny is not the Heart's Landing bride?

A Simple Wedding was a delightful Hallmark romance that romance lovers will enjoy. I felt so bad for Jenny. She just wanted to make her cousin's wedding wonderful, but with Bridezilla to work with, she was spinning her wheels. Watching this shy, quiet young woman come out of her shell and learn to stand up for herself was wonderful. Nick was wonderful. He knew he was attracted to Jenny, but did not let her know his feelings because she was taken. He was so kind and would do whatever he had to do to make Jenny's wedding special. Of course, this is a Hallmark romance so you know there will be a happy ending, but the journey to get there is very enjoyable.

Book Review

A Simple Wedding (Heart’s Landing #1) by Leigh Duncan

Synopsis: Since Jenny was a little girl, Heart’s Landing was her dream wedding destination. Jenny works as an assistant for her movie star cousin. Kay tasks her to visit Heart’s Landing and plan her wedding. The one rule she has is, no one can know she’s planning Kay’s wedding, Jenny is forced to pretend she’s the bride. Nick owns the town's bakery, he’s single, attractive and makes the best desserts around. After a run in outside of the bakery, Nick was instantly captivated by Jenny. While planning the ever-changing wedding, Nick takes Jenny under his wings, to make sure she gets the wedding of her dreams, despite his budding feelings.

Review: I really enjoyed this book, it’s the perfect story to read under a cozy blanket with a glass of wine. The plot was unique, the characters were lovely and the romance aspect was built up at a great pace. I enjoyed the dual narrative between Jenny and Nick, it provided so much insight on both ends. When I found out this was a series, I went ahead and purchased the next book in the series, I can’t wait to return to Heart’s Landing.

5/5

Thank you to Netgalley and Leah Duncan for my copy of a Simple Wedding: A Heart’s Landing Novel.. for an honest review. In this cute read we meet Jenny. She always dreamed of having a wedding at Heart’s Landing a real life wedding town. It turns out that Jenny’s cousin, a famous actress, gets engaged and chooses this spot first. Not only does she pick this spot, she sends Jenny ahead to plan the entire wedding, under the guise that she is planning her own wedding. Jenny winds up falling in love with the town as well as the people. The longer she plans the wedding and keeps secrets from the towns people the more she feels terrible for lying to all involved. Jenny finds she has to come clean but how does she do that and make everyone happy.. including herself? This is such a great love story. I would consider it a quick read and I have recommended it to friends and family. I loved seeing how everything played out. This was a four star read for me. I am glad I got a chance to read it and can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

This story was lighthearted and funny, and it was the perfect book for an afternoon when I wanted to read and relax. It had all the things we love best about Hallmark books and movies—a sweet love story; a great small town setting; and a cast of characters that I grew to love.

I loved the character of Jenny. She’s kindhearted caring, and extremely organized. She also would do anything for her famous movie star cousin, Kay, including planning a wedding for her in only four weeks. The unusual way that Nick and Jenny met for the first time made me smile, and all the last minute wedding changes that Kay kept making kept the the town of Hart’s Landing on its toes. The ending was all that a romantic Hallmark ending should be. There’s a sequel to this book that I’m reading next, and I’m looking forward to reading about another wedding in Hart’s Landing.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Jenny has always wanted a Heart's Landing wedding. Now she gets to plan one, only it's her cousin's not hers. This sweet crazy story is a good start to a new series. I can see it turned into a Hallmark movie. Looking forward to the next in the series.

This is a start to a new, romantic series. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about this cute little town that is known for hosting and planning weddings. It would be great to see this made into a series of movies on Hallmark.

Repetitive to the point that I almost stopped reading. What kept me going was picturing which of Hallmark's stable of actors and actresses would play the leads.

A Simple Wedding is the first book of this series. It's a cute, sweet and romantic story.. It's a very-well written story. I loved the characters.. And the town is adorable. I really enjoyed reading this book.

Fun and lighthearted book. It fits perfectly for the Hallmark brand. I did find it a little bit repetitive at times but I did really like Jenny for a main character. I could clearly picture her and the quaint little town of Hearts Landing. The only thing I did not like was Kay. I know she was supposed to be unlikeable but I feel like there should have been more with her at the end. I wish we had an actual confrontation between her and Jenny. It just didn't seem genuine at the end between the two of them. It felt forced and I still really didn't like Kay. What she did to Jenny was just awful and it seemed to just be blown off.

Amazing book! I have just downloaded book two in this series and I am excited to start reading it! You can experience the destination set out in this book just by reading it. You can envision the setting, smell the flowers and taste the delicious baking just by reading the pages.

"A Simple Wedding" tells the story of a young woman who is tasked with planning the wedding of her cousin, who also happens to be a big-name actress! Although the wedding is planned down to the last detail by star-studded Karolyn, personal assistant Jenny is in charge of making sure the wedding plans are organized according to Karolyn's wishes, while trying to keep the big day a secret. Jenny meets a very special baker, and her life takes on a new dimension while she tried to organize the wedding.

This cute, clean, and sweet story is definitely a good choice for a Hallmark show! Readers will enjoy how the plot unfolds, even though the happy ending is foreseeable.

It is such a pleasure to share in a story that brings joy to the reader. I loved the characters, the locale and the story line. There was the perfect amount of angst, so well done that I couldn't see how there would be a happy resolution. I was not disappointed. I highly recommend 'A Simple Wedding' to all.

This was a really sweet read. I don't believe I've read this author before but I will keep an eye out for her books from now on. There were a few minor issues that I had but nothing that kept me from enjoying the story. I loved the location of Heart's Landing. The characters were great. Jenny is the one that had the toughest time thanks to her cousin, movie star Karolyn Karter. Jenny is her assistant and tasked with planning her wedding across the country in less than 6 weeks. Kay (Karolyn) keeps changing things and Jenny has to make it happen all while pretending it's her own wedding so papparazzi don't find out and ruin Kay's big day. Jenny has always wanted to get married in Heart's Landing so in one way this mission is great but also a nightmare because she is falling in love with the town, the people and the baker in particular. What will happen when they find out she's been lying to them all this time. Will she be able to remain friends and perhaps more? A lovely romp and I can't wait to read more about Heart's Landing in the future.
I received a free copy of this book from Netgalley and the publisher and voluntarily chose to review it.
