What a fun novella, which had me wishing for more. Novellas are always tough to read especially when you have a lot of ground to cover. I think Abigail did a great job with the limited amount of words that she had. Greek mythology is a huge fave and any sort of retelling or just a story in that world in general, I’m here for all of it.

With the simmering attraction that has been brewing underneath between Castor and Lyleila, I just couldn’t wait for everything to unfold. From the office to sharing a room at a wolf shifter mating ceremony, something is bound to happen.

I enjoyed this novella immensely, we had some laughs, some fanning because these two are hot together (hello, nymph!) and a deeper story of Leila’s past. I felt the connection all around with these two and I’m hoping we get to see them again in this series.

Loved this read and can’t wait to read more! The Demigod Complex is a great start to this series, I just know we’ll be in for a fun ride.

The Demigod Complex is a fun spin on the Greek gods and nymphs. I so enjoyed Castor and Lyleia’s story that it was impossible for me to put it down.

Leia is a nymph who lost her spring and – by extension – her family centuries ago after angering a powerful entity. She’s never been fully happy since, but she’s come back to life working as Castor Dioskouri’s Executive Assistant. Though he’s the son of Zeus, his demigod status doesn’t prevent Castor from also knowing loss. He’s been living half a life since his wife died so long ago. He requested Brimstone, Inc. send him an assistant who wouldn’t fall for his charms, which is why they sent Leia, whose powers as a nymph provide her with a natural resistance to gods. What that natural resistance doesn’t cover is the attraction between the two that springs naturally. It’s clear from the start that Castor and Leia are made for each other. But both are afraid to open their hearts and take a risk; Leia especially since she fears an old enemy may be coming for her again. But when the two attend an alpha wolf shifter mating, the additional pheromones may be enough to get them to lose their inhibitions and take a chance on a happily ever after that would last for eternity.

There’s a crackling energy between Castor and Leia that makes it easy to fall into their romance. Author Abigail Owen knows how to pack a punch in a short space and sets the foundation for the romance quickly allowing readers to be swept up in a love story that’s both sexy and heartwarming. Leia and Castor are both powerful and protective in their own ways and I absolutely adored these two. Ms. Owen weaves mythology wonderfully into this modern day boss/secretary romance and the appearance of gods, nymphs, and shifters give familiar tropes a fresh new feel. All in all, The Demigod Complex is a fast-paced, sensual, action-packed read and I cannot wait to see what’s next in the Brimstone Inc. series!

A funny, quick and strong chemistry office romance with a paranormal/mythological twist!

Owen was able to deliver a lot in a short, 100 page novel. As I continue to explore Owen's books I am falling more and more in love. She is able to create such unique stories that are full of hot and steamy moments. I adored the use of mythology and paranormal aspects that played into an urban setting! This is a steamy office romance between an executive assistant who is also a fallen nymph and her boss who is a demigod, the son of Zeus. If that doesn't catch your interest and intrigue you into picking up this book I am not sure what will.

Leia was a fierce, sassy and independent woman that was not afraid to express and say what she felt. The added elements of her past and how they were affecting her future really added to her overall character. Then you have Castor who is the large, strong and cold business man that has a very different inside then his outward appearance would lead you to believe.

I loved that this book made mention to Owen's dragon shifter world and I am hoping that they will end up colliding! The one small issue I had with this book is it was too short. I want more from the story and felt like she could have done so much with it. There were a few scenes that just happened and we were told what happened, not shown. It caused the story to be a little rushed at times. I am really interested to see where this series goes though.

Overall this book, although short was really packed with all the right elements. It had the characters you love to hate, the characters you just dislike, mythological and paranormal aspects in an urban setting. It gives you the quirky, funny office romance filled with sexual tension, sacrifices and steamy moments! This was a fast paced read that was not short on action, romance and just a great feeling in the way it ended.

The Demigod Complex by Abigail Owen
Brimstone Inc. #1

Water nymp Leia has worked for demigod Castor for about a year when she feels it may be time to move on even though there seems to be chemistry between them. Rumor is that he is unable to love again and she is immune to demigods...only rumors, I believe. When they go together to a wolf mating ceremony and she runs into a wolf-shifter from her past that is not a friend, well, things become complicated. What they have to deal with definitely requires paranormal abilities and has the potential of drawing them closer together or driving them apart.

Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? I think so

Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled-Amara for the ARC – This is my honest review.

3-4 Stars

Castor is Demigod, his not up himself and is quite considerate for a boss, but he does insist his PA attends a mating ceremony with him.

Lyleia, she is a water nymph without a spring. She enjoys her job working for Castor but she doesn't stay in one place for too long and her time at this job is coming to an end but first she has to go on a trip with her too-hot boss.

I've read this author before and enjoy her writing so this was an easy read for me, one I enjoyed too.

There is chemistry between these two and their story has plenty to keep you entertained, including a baddie.....

This book was published before but has a had an overhaul and fab new cover.

I will read more in this series.

This book was provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Entangled Amara!

The Demigod Complex is the first book in the Brimstone Inc. series and tells the story of Lyleia and Castor.

The Demigod Complex is the third book I’ve read by Abigail Owen. I’ve read another book by her and another one from her pen name, Kadie Scott. I really liked those other books so it was no surprise that I really liked this book too! The story was really interesting and I like reading books with multiple paranormal characters!

I really liked the characters and I’m such a sucker for boss/assistant Romance! I just cannot get enough of it because it’s kind of forbidden but hot at the same time! I loved how protective Castor was and Leia was such a strong character. She faced some people that did her wrong but she kept looking them in the eyes. I love a strong female protagonist! And Castor and Leia are just perfect for each other. I cannot get enough of them!

I really liked The Demigod Complex, it was another amazing book by Abigail Owen! The story was well written and fast paced! I’m looking forward to the next book in the Brimstone Inc. series because it’ll be about Dahlia!

4.5/5*

I'm trash for all things Greek mythology, have been since I was nine or ten. Between that and the premise of this particular novella - a Demigod and a nymph go on a "business trip" and have to deal with their pants feelings - I was in. It's exactly what you think it will be: a short, hot, sometimes funny paranormal romance with forced proximity and a power imbalance that is only sort of addressed. After all, he's a demigod. I really liked the heroine. (He's fine too.)

The first half of this book was great! I loved every bit of it. It was a quick read and I loved the characters. The second half felt very rushed to me. Everything happened quickly and there wasn’t a lot of depth to anything. The main conflict was weak and I was let down by the ending.

This book could have benefited greatly from more pages. More time to focus on the conflict and the budding romance.

Cute, very quick read. Interesting take on the Gods of Olympus in modern day. Not a ton of depth to the characters considering it was a pretty short book, but would read more from the author in the future.

Having read some of the Fire's Edge and Inferno Rising series of Abigail Owen (and liked them), my eye fell on the cover of this new read. The title already had me chuckling, so I decided to request the arc. Often I'm a bit hesitant to request a re-print of an earlier book, but the blurb made me curious.
And I'm glad to have been granted the arc. Lyleia is an nymph, whose spring has been destroyed years ago. Therefore, she lives in the 'normal' world as a EA for Castor, the CEO of a multimillion dollar company. Oh, and besides being the boss, he is also a demigod. One who has women falling at his feet. Since losing his wife however, Castor doesn't need romance. Therefore he had Dahlia of Brimstone Inc. recruit him an EA, who could withstand his charmes. As a nymph, Lyleia is not affected by Zeus' offspring, no matter how hot he looks.
So, her job is easy: DO NOT fall in love with him. And Lyleia tries, she really tries. But when they attend a wolfshifter mating together, pheromones fill the air. And maybe keeping your hands of your boss is a bigger challenge than Lyleia could have anticipated...
Funny, charming and hot! Five out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing LLC/ Amara for the q. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. I truly just enjoyed this book. I found it a little different and refreshing. the characters were fun as well. Castle is a demigod and Leia is a water nymph! Fun. See the fireworks! It's probably not for everyone as it's a bit quirky but if you are having a bad day give it a try! 4 stars.

Abigail Owen is easily becoming one of my favorite paranormal/Fantasy Romance novelists to date. Short, sweet, and hella steamy, The Demigod Complex is the beginning of a new series that encompasses shifters, witches, and greek gods that packs the ultimate punch.

When I saw just how short this novel was, I was hesitant on if it would be able to bring in the connection and development that I yearn for in most if not all my fantasy reads, but Abigail Owen DELIVERED. There was so much development and thought put into each page that I was in awe.

Owens beautifully paces not only the plot but the love story between our Heroine, Lyleia, and hero, Castor. I couldn’t help but not not fall in love with this pair. Watching them fight the sexual chemistry and tension between each other was a treat, and I repeatedly chanted for them to just screw already, because the tension was THAT intense, and that good.

The way that Owens interweaves her different worlds together was stunning and I loved how the different mythologies played alongside each other and found balance within themselves because of the other’s existence. Simply put, I am beginning to Stan a legend.

If you are looking for a quick, steamy, and action packed fantasy PNR, I cannot recommend this novel enough. Abigail Owens, out did herself with this one and I can’t wait to see more from this series and what Brimstone, Inc. cooks up for us next!

This was so hot!!! What an amazing start to what looks to be a crazy hot and entertaining series. I honestly can't wait for more of this series, BRING IT ON!!!

Leia is an executive assistant for a very high powered billionaire. Ok, he's also a demigod who's incredibly hot and just standing next to him is difficult because, well, he's a demigod. But I digress...after all, she's a nymph and her one job is to NOT fall for her boss. At least that's what she's been told by the person who hired her. Normally it wouldn't be an issue, but with the urge to run away from a potential threat, she just can't find it in her heart to give her two weeks notice. Damn that demigod and his....everything.

Castor is the hot as sin billionaire demigod. He's known that Leia has been trying to turn in her resignation for some time now, and he's been doing everything in his power to distract her from doing so. So what does he do? He asks her to accompany him to a mating ceremony, "to help keep him safe from other woman" since she's a nymph. But he's got other plans for her that she has no idea about.

This was such a cute and clever story. The way it developed organically as well as the raw animalistic chemistry between all of the parties involved had me turning these pages so fast that I was shocked when I was done. I seriously need more of this series....like STAT!!!!!

This intriguing story will draw you in and have you wanting a demigod of our own. When Lyleia was head hunted by Brimstone Inc, she never expected that her boss would break through her defenses especially since she is blessed by the goddesses to withstand the charms of gods. This story with its mythological and paranormal composition will have you glued to the pages. I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book for an honest review.

Talk about tall, dark and handsome! Castor as a powerful demigod (a son of Zeus no less) is nigh irresistible which is why he needed an EA who could actually work with and for him without throwing herself at him. When L is hired as his EA, what he didn’t expect was to fall for her instead (of course).

The 1st part went by quickly which was all about L trying to hold out against C while he tries his best to get closer to her and hope that she has feelings for him. Attending a wolf shifter mating ceremony where L is supposed to be his buffer against females throwing themselves at him had the expected conclusion – both of them end of giving to their feelings for each other but both are unsure of the extend of each others feelings.

I particularly liked C who is protective and wonderfully possessive of L.
An engaging read.

I received an advanced reader's copy of The Demigod Complex by Abigail Owen from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I have been fortunate enough to read a few other novels by Abigail Owen previously that I liked from her Fire's Edge series, so I was excited to see a different direction from dragons (although I do love the dragons)!

Overall, I this was a solid romance and I found it to be well written. I especially liked the primary and secondary characters' interactions and found their banter to be amusing with a fast moving plot. Plus it was just neat to see a new world with gods/demigods, shifters, and nymphs.

I felt that the main characters' chemistry was showcased well from the beginning without being overdone and was paced nicely. Also liked that the main characters, Lyleia and Castor, worked together and developed feelings for one another before moving straight to the romance ('though that was awesome when it did happen).

All in all, The Demigod Complex by Abigail Owen was a quick, fun read and I would recommend it for any romance fan.

Castor really appreciates his lady's attributes, "he grunted his amusement as she peeled his arm from her. Not bothering to cover up, she padded across the room naked. “I could get used to that sight in the mornings.” I liked this book, I liked Castor.

I should start by admitting, that this is the second time that I've read this novella. Not that it really matters, I enjoyed it the first time around and enjoyed it just as much the second time around.
Lyleia is a water nymph, after losing her spring she has had to find her way in the world without the love and protection of her fellow nymphs. She is the perfect person to be an executive assistant to demi go Castor. He needs someone who can resist him and won't fall for him. Which is something she's managed to do, resist him at least, she does seem to have fallen in love with him.
This is a fun quick read. There's mention of the dragon shifter world which features in two of Abigail Owen's other series. Although this is more of a signposting that they inhabit the same world, rather than properly being part of the book.
If you're looking for a quick romantic read, then you won't go far wrong with The Demigod Complex. Lyleia and Castor are great and their romance and the problems they face together make for a good read.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I usually avoid paranormals. I haven't had very good experiences with them, often finding them cheesy and a poor cousin to sci fi reads. I did permit this one from NetGalley because reading Greek myths have always been a favorite of mine. Though this is #1 in a series, I felt thrown into the middle, trying to grasp what's going on -- who is Delilah to everyone, what are the other creatures in relation to demigods, gods, werewolves, dragons, etc. -- but I was able to shelve the curiosity and go along for the ride. Thankfully, it was enjoyable and short enough for me to enjoy in a day.
