I received a free copy of BOTCHED BUTTERSCOTCH (an Amish Candy Shop Mystery 4.5) by Amanda Flower in exchange for an honest review. This Mother’s Day is going to be especially sweet because Bailey King’s parents are in town. The ladies all celebrate by attending a Mother’s Day Tea fundraiser hosted by the local church, organized by Margot Rawlins, and benefiting a local drug rehab. When the money goes missing, Deputy Little is placed in charge of the investigation with orders to drop the case if it cannot be resolved within the weekend. With the fate of the rehab depending on the money, Bailey informs Deputy Little that she’ll be helping him solve the case. Meanwhile, Juliet embroils Bailey’s mother in her plan to get Bailey and Aiden to the altar.

I recommend this story to fans of the Amish Candy Shop Mysteries. I recommend the entire series to fans of Amanda Flower and to fans of cozy mysteries featuring candy making, Amish culture, television shows, feisty pigs, small towns, small businesses, town events, and gentle guidance by sweet grannies.

I've liked this series up to this book. Bailey has always done what she could to help the people of Harvest English and Amish. In this installment she seems to be extremely aggressive and cocky. Not what I want in a civilian character.

Bailey King’s parents are visiting Harvest for Mother’s Day for the first time in a very long time and she has plans to take her mother and grandmother to a tea fund raiser for a local women’s charity. While at the tea, someone steals the money that was raised and Bailey steps in to help the local police with the Amish community as they try to recover the missing money.

Amanda Flower is a gift writer. Her characters become friends and you can’t wait for your next visit with them. This novella was a great nibble to hold me over while I wait for Marshmallow Malice to come out. I adore all of her series and look forward to every release from the author.

Description
Mother’s Day is a sweet and busy time at the candy shop Bailey King runs with her Amish grandmother. This year is extra special, because Bailey’s parents are visiting Harvest, Ohio. Bailey’s father has rarely returned since leaving the Amish faith over thirty years ago, but Bailey is confident that the right treats can help sugarcoat any awkwardness. For Mother’s Day Tea at the local church, she’s whipping up her mom’s favorite: butterscotch pie. All’s going well, until a sticky-fingered thief makes off with the money raised for a local women’s support group.

While Bailey tries to discover who stuck their fingers in the cookie jar, she encounters an assortment of suspects. It doesn’t help that Juliet, mother of Deputy Aiden Brody, is conspiring with Bailey’s mom to plan Aiden and Bailey’s wedding…though they’re not even engaged! Can Bailey find the culprit before events—both criminal and personal—boil over into disaster?

My Review
Amanda Flower has done it again! Botched Butterscotch Book 6 of the Amish Candy Shop Mysteries has Bailey at it again trying to solve a mystery.

The novel starts off with Bailey busy dusting the candy shop she owns with her Amish grandmother Clara King. Nervous and excited that her parents are finally coming to visit she hoped her new gourmet show would ease her parents thinking she had wasted her talent by leaving NY. But of course things get complicated when money raised for a local charity group goes missing.

Can Bailey figure out who committed the crime? Buy the book. You will not be disappointed.

I Give this a 5 Star!

Cute cozy mystery with lots of fun going on. Loved Juliet and her subtle hints of a future between her son and bailey. Jethro is cute and playful addition to the story. A must read for anyone who enjoys a soft, funny mystery

A delightful addition to the Bailey King Amish candy shop mystery series. Bailey's parents have come to town for Mother's Day and Bailey and her grandmother Clara have agreed to donate Swissmen Sweets candies to a Mother's Day tea fundraising for Abigail's Farm, a respite farm for young women recovering from addiction. The tea has been a great success, raising about $10,000 but the money is stolen during the tea. When young Deputy Little is given this assignment as his first solo case, Bailey offers to help him and is able to figure out the solution to the crime, all while dealing with her boyfriend Aiden's mother and her mother's matchmaking plans. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and I'm looking forward to trying the peanut butterscotch bars recipe in the back.
