I loved Get A Life, Chloe Brown, so reading this second book of the Brown Sisters series, I knew this book, Take A Hint Dani Brown, was a must read for me. Talia Hibbert’s writing style and humor really put me in the best mood! The writing was incredibly sexy and fun - I really enjoyed Danika and Zafir together.

If you haven’t read this one yet, I recommend the series for an amazing read I know you will enjoy!

In this second book of the Brown Sisters series, Talia Hibbert writes about done with romance Dani Brown, who's more than happy to stick to a friends-with-benies situation.
Entire hot rugby player, Zafir Ansari to sweep her off her feet-- like honestly he enters and rescues her from a fire drill at work that didn't go right--and the meet cute moment is caught on video and sends the social media world aflame.
Zafir asks Dani to fake relationship with him to help increase publicity for his children's charity and since Dani's good with no strings attached anyway, why not? What could possibly go wrong?
Lucky for us, Talia beautifully writes everything that could and does go sideways while we cheer for the hero and heroine to figure out their own hearts while falling for each other.
Such a fun read and totally worth the book hangover you're going to have.
If you haven't already, be sure to check the first in the series, Get A Life Chole Brown as we wait for Act your Age, Eve Brown, which won't be out until March 2021.

*I received a copy of this book for an honest review.

I LOVED reading this romance. It was so endearing and fun, and I loved seeing a male character dealing with anxiety and reading the heck out of the romance genre.

For those that read Get a Life, Chloe Brown, picking up this book is a no-brainer. But if you haven’t tried Thalia Hibbert before, I might suggest this as your first read. I mean, I just all the hearts.

I eventually ended up listening to the audio and oh my god, I could not hit pause! I knew I was going to absolutely LOVE Dani, but Zaf? OBSESSED. This was so full of hilarious one-liners, queer rep, swoon-worthy moments and I cannot wait for Eve’s book! Talia has my whole heart...and wallet.

Expectations were high, high, high with this one, and Hibbert delivers another book perfect for fans of Get a Life, Chloe Brown or her Ravenswood books.

Dani's wonderful, sharp, sarcastic, flirty, and full of confidence on the surface with a buried vein of deep insecurity that makes her deeply terrified of commitment. It's no secret that I love a commitment-phobic heroine and a romantic hero, and this book sooooo deliveres, but more on Zaf in a moment. I really love how Hibbert shows the complex makeup of Dani's fears. She's a believable mix of confidence and insecurity. I also love that she gets to be an unrelenting badass in her work, but that there's a focus on the importance of not just working (for mental health, not because a woman must have a family).

But Zafir is the real scene-stealer. He's absolutely amazing. So he was a pro rugby player for a while, not a star but still. His life spun off the tracks with the unexpected deaths of his father and brother, and that ended his career due to his anxiety going out of control for a while. Once he got through that, he founded a charity that teaches young athletes about the importance of mental health and the need to not give in to toxic masculinity. In case he's not perfect enough there, he's also a massive cinnamon roll who reads romance novels. Which, yes, can sometimes feel like authors appealing to their readers, which obvs, but I really loved his explanation for what he saw in them, and she made all of this feel so real. Basically, I love him.

Take a Hint, Dani Brown has such a classic rom-com structure. You can pretty much watch the film play out on your eyelids. It's fully ridiculous at points, like the opening dramatic "rescue" that results in #DrRugbae and their fake dating scenario. It's extra in the best way. The grand gesture at the end was a little underwhelming, but otherwise I thought this hit the rom-com notes really excellently.

Hibbert's romances are so special. She has some of the best rep (diversity, mental health, fat heroines) out there in romance right now.

Take a Hint, Dani Brown is the second book in the Brown Sisters trilogy. Hibbert has created two characters that by themselves could be seen as grumpy and unsocial. Zaf of the murder face. ( You must read this book!) But when the two come together they become the most adorable and delicious couple of the year. I absolutely loved this book. It was refreshing and honest and full of fun and truly unique people I would love to know in real life.

Danica Brown is a PhD. candidate and teacher at the college Zafir Ansari works for as a security guard. Zaf checks peoples IDs as they enter the building and Dani teases him everyday and brings him coffee. She loves his grumpy face. Zaf is grumpy mostly from lack of sleep. During a fire/chemical spill drill, Dani gets stuck in an elevator that malfunctions and Zaf rescues her and carries her from the building. The evacuated students film the dramatic exit from the building and share it on social media. The two become a sensation as a couple. Zaf has a non-profit helping boys deal with their emotions in a healthy way. He asks Dani to pretend to be a couple for a month for the good publicity that it could bring to his non-profit. Dani doesn't know that Zaf has a long time crush on her though and he is a closet romantic while Dani does not believe in love at all. This could be great or it could be an emotional disaster.

Hibbert is an amazing writer, her characters are so real you want to befriend them. I am hoping Dani and Zaf will pop up in book three so I can see how they are doing.

I devoured Take a Hint Dani Brown! I'm a fan of this entire series, and this one might be my favorite. I am a total sucker for cinnamon roll hero, and Zaf is seriously so sweet and gooey. I could not get enough of him. I loved how head over heels Zaf was right from the beginning. He might be the star of this book for me. I found myself cheering for his happily ever after this entire book. Seriously, Talia Hibbert had me eating right out of the palm of her hand. And I know some people frequently highlight fiction books but I rarely do. Let me tell you, I highlighted one of the final chapters almost in its entirety. I loved seeing how Dani softens and opens to Zaf, The conclusion of this book was seriously perfect.

I cannot say enough good things about this book. Get your hands on a copy immediately!! I am so excited for book three in this series!

This was just as delightful as the first book featuring the Brown sisters (Get a Life, Chloe Brown). Dani is a great, multi-dimensional character. A brilliant PhD student totally obsessed with her academic work, she doesn’t usually get too emotionally involved with her partners. Zaf is a former rugby star, current security guard at her school, and one of her current crushes. When he dramatically carries her out of her building during a fire alarm and gets caught on camera, they become a social media phenomenon #DrRugBae and decide to fake a relationship for a while to maximize some of the resulting opportunities. This is a romance, so you know what happens, but it’s a great ride anyway. Great character development for both Dani and Zaf,

TALIA WRITES THE BEST BOOKS. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH.

I read it in one sitting and stayed up way too late. Also, I may have written an over-enthusiastic fan email, gushing about how amazing the book is.

Zaf is the most cinnamon roll of all cinnamon rolls. Too good, too pure for this world.

Dani is a dedicated academic and has all the goals and plans and she is going to get them no matter what!

I don't even know what else to say to describe my love for this book. I'm ready to stop writing here and just hug my copy. Just read it, ok? And then all of Talia's other books too.

I loved this! Admittedly, not as much as "Chloe Brown" but fans of "Chloe Brown" will absolutely love Dani's HEA.

A light and lovely romantic comedy about two broken people who find love by creating a fake romance on social media. In this great follow-up to Get a Life, Chloe Brown, readers get to know Chloe's sister, Dani.

I particularly enjoyed the way Hibbert handled anxiety, as well as Dani's spiritual beliefs. The romance scenes were just the right mix of tender and steamy.

I was fortunate to receive a free ARC of this book from Netgalley. The above thoughts, insights, or recommendations are my own meek musings.

Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this title!

I was excited to sit down and read Talia Hibbert’s latest title band it did not disappoint! The characters were likable and there was a nice depth of emotion. It left me with a smile and quickly researching when her next book would be available!

I loved pretty much everything about Chloe's book and it makes me very sad that I didn't feel the same about this one. I'm not sure if I just wasn't in the right mood or what, but I found myself more annoyed than charmed while reading Dani's story. :(

As always, I absolutely love the diversity of Talia's books, and I do enjoy the general style and feel of her romances, but neither of these characters was particularly relatable or likeable to me. I mean, they were FINE, but I didn't feel anywhere near as invested in their story as I did with Chloe and Red. I also feel like the fake relationship trope was a bit wasted here, and the humor didn't feel as fun or natural.

My biggest issue, however, is that everything was SO SICKLY SWEET. Which a lot of people seem to have loved, so that's great for them, and like I said, maybe I just wasn't in the mood for this kind of romance. (Was Get a Life the same and I just didn't mind?) But it was like nearly every single sentence was Dani and Zaf just gushing over each other, whether it was out loud or in internal dialogue (of which there were MANY); whether it was a physical/sexual thing or about how smart/sweet/good they were. SO many metaphors about honey and sugar and oh my goodness, just gag me already. I like my romance with conflict and drama, and this had ZERO. (Don't even get me started on the eventual required "conflict" at the end - I'm so over adult characters having commitment issues.)

All that said - I'm in no way put off Talia Hibbert and I'm still really excited for Eve's book. I did enjoy this one overall, I think I'd just overhyped it in my head because I loved Get a Life so much. Hopefully this was just a miss for me, or maybe I've been reading too many romances and my brain finally said "enough!". (Having said that, I'm definitely off to go read another romance right now, haha.)

Every time I read a Talia Hibbert book, I'm reminded why she is one of my favorite authors. The way that she is able to articulate emotions in such a way that they resonate deep within my soul and helps me to really connect with her characters in a way that makes an indelible impression on me that extends long after the last word is read. Dani and Zaf are such unique characters and I LOVED how they viewed each other and valued each other in the exact way that the other needed - it was so beautiful. And don't even get me started on the steamy bits, the inclusion, and the banter. As much as I can 't wait for Eve's story, I also don't want this series to end - I love the Brown sisters so much! Maybe she'll bless us with grandma's story :) 5 out of 5 wine glasses.

I just finished reading TAKE A HINT, DANI BROWN by the lovely and talented Talia Hibbert. This was such a fun read, that also tugged at my heartstrings, and hit a personal chord with me.

Not so long ago, I was quite the workaholic. And, after having my heart broken, was know to have “the wall of Hawk” around it. Needless to say, I could relate to Dani’s apprehensiveness towards love and relationships. Her finding solace in her career achievements, friends, and family, was all too familiar. I am happy to say that along with retirement, came the dismantling of the “wall of Hawk”. 😊❤️

But enter Zaf! Oh my lord, may we all find a Zaf. To be interested in our minds as well as our bodies. This strong, romance novel reading, whiz in the kitchen, is exactly the type of man we need more of. He is not afraid to share his feelings. He is proud of Dani’s accomplishments rather than intimidated by them. He loves her sexy plus-sized body. And he steams up the bedroom too! 🔥🔥🔥

You will enjoy this book:
If you are looking for a romance with a strong & intelligent woman protagonist (did I mention she is working toward her PhD?)....
If you are looking for a romance with smart witty banter.
If you enjoy the fake-relationship trope
If you don’t mind some steam
If you like a strong but sensitive male romantic interest

TW: anxiety, depression

Dani, Dani, Dani... why did it took me forever to finally read your sister's book before diving immediately into yours? Mmm, I was a fool, you say? Yes, you're probably right. But better late than never!

Take a hint, Dani Brown follows Chloe's sister Dani who loves her teaching job but absolutely hates romance. She doesn't believe in it and doesn't believe she's made to be a girlfriend or wife. It's just not in her. After a relationship ending up badly, she refused to try again and only wants casual flings.

Zafir, on the other side, would love nothing more than have his own happy ever after. He's a grumpy security guard where Dani works but inside, he's all soft and sweet. He's liked Dani from the beginning but he knows she's not the serious type and he knows himself. He won't be able to not fall in love with her. However, when an opportunity arise for his project, pretending to be a couple might help and so their story begins... The tension grows and you know it, Zafir can't resist Dani for long. Lust turns into more and soon Dani will understand that she doesn't need to change to be a "good" girlfriend. She just has to be herself because that's the person Zafir fell in love.

This book was so freaking cute, just like Chloe's story. I loved the characters and the representation as well. It was entertaining, charming and I can't wait to read the third book in the series following their sister Eve!

(Thank you so much for letting me read and review an ARC via Netgalley)

I’m pretty new to the contemporary romance genre, but it’s very clear that most of these books follow a very basic formula. I thought this one wasn’t going to follow it! Then it did, just much later than I was expecting. But I still loved it! Dani and Zaf were so lovable, and each had their own complexities and depth that I appreciated. I can’t wait to read Eve’s story in 2021 to finish out the Brown sisters trilogy!

Thanks to Netgalley and HarperCollins/Avon for an advanced copy of this book.

Talia Hibbert is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors! Her first book in the Brown Sisters Series about Chloe Brown was fantastic and Take a Hint, Dani Brown was just as good. Dani Brown has love on the back burner until she gets herself into a fake relationship. You know how that goes, but it was a joy to read the story and the book cracked me up many times!
