Pulp Friction is the second book in the new Cider Shop Mystery series (which I am loving, by the way). Winnie's newly opened cider shop is doing well, and the book opens with a wedding in the orchard's barn. The wedding atmosphere is super cozy and dreamy and makes me miss summer...until the groom ends up dead and foul play is suspected.

This book solidifies my desire to live in Blossom Valley with Winnie, Granny, Dot and Colton (yes, of course, Colton. So handsome!) This series hits all of the points that make a cozy series great - an adorable small town, a sweet little shop (I want apple cider and delicious pastries all of the time now), a wonderful cast of characters and murder mysteries that are just chilling enough to feel serious without ruining the overall lighthearted vibe of the book.

I had my theories about who the murdered could be in this book and I was spot on in some aspects and WAY OFF in others - which just made the entire experience more fun! This book ends on somewhat of a cliffhanger and sets the series up for a larger story - which I'm guessing will be explored more in-depth in the next book.

The Cider Shop is finally open. A wedding at the new venue goes off without a hitch until guests find the groom dead, crushed by a truck. Small problem: Winnie observes Hank, her ex-boyfriend, and the groom arguing just before the wedding. Now Hank is the primary person of interest and missing.

Julie Lindsey crafts an appealing story: a good mystery, attractive characters, interesting red herrings, all at an engaging pace. Granny and her friend Delilah offer comfortable comic relief. And amateur sleuth Winnie’s relationship with Sheriff Colton Wise is evolving. A very likable entry in a delightful series.

I'm really loving this series thinking this book might just be better than the first one. It definitely had a lot of action going, and Granny got to have a good part in the take down with her friend Delilah. Those two crack me up, and Granny is so funny how she pretends she doesn't like a man named Owen who loves to come and see her.

Once the book was to a certain point, my suspicions about someone being the killer got stronger. I fell for some of the red herrings along the way. The showdown was exciting, and everything was explained at one point or another...except for a couple of details that I found out toward the end. I don't want to spoil anything but there's part of a side story that will hopefully continue through the next book. I'm really hoping we don't have to wait a whole year. The first book was published last October, this one gets published April 28, so I'm really hoping for another book this fall or winter.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book provided by the publisher via NetGalley, and my opinions are my own.

This series is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. This is the second book in the Cider Shop Mysteries. I like getting to know Winnie, Granny, and their many friends. I really love the setting of the cider shop/apple orchard. I;m really excited to see what Winnie and her friends are up to next.

I received an ARC of the book in exchange of my honest review. Thank you Netgalley, Julie Anne Lindsey, and Kensington Books for this opportunity.

Pulp Friction is the second book in the Cider Shop Mystery series written by Julie Anne Lindsey. I've read a few other books by this author (published under pseudonyms) as well as the first in this series. When this one became available via NetGalley, I requested it because I enjoyed the characters and wanted to revisit them. Lindsey delivers a great story in the follow-up book, and today I'm sharing my thoughts on it.

In Pulp Friction, Winona Mae, our mid-20s heroine, runs an apple orchard and cider shop with her grandma in Virginia. They're beginning to turn the family business around, but another murder happens on their property. This time, it's someone at the wedding they're holding for the town. And to make matters worse, the one person seen arguing with the groom before he's murdered is Winona Mae's ex-boyfriend, Hank. Her new love interest, though not much has happened, is the sheriff. How complicated can it get!?!?!

Lindsey's writing style is easy and fun. Her characters are memorable, especially Grannie, Winona Mae, and Sheriff Colton. I do like some of the supporting characters, but this is the kinda book where you really grow attached to the core characters and like to focus on them. The mystery has several red herrings and clues. We get to know the bride, the best man, a few friends, and some interconnected folks who make the story more intriguing. The side stories keep us entertained while the blossoming romance is a nice arc to keep us wanting more each book.

Overall, it's a good series. It's still early on, and I'd like to see a little more character development in the suspects. In this one, I didn't really feel attached to them, so I was okay with whoever ended up being the killer. It was still fun to try to figure it out tho! I look forward to the third book whenever that comes out. If not, she's got plenty of other series I can turn to in the meantime. So should you.

This is my first time reading Ms. Lindsey and I'm hooked! This was a very entertaining cozy with lots of delightful characters. The mystery was good with lots of twists and turns. There's even some romance! I'm really looking forward to spending more time in Blossom Valley.
I received a free copy of this book from Netgalley and the publisher and voluntarily chose to review it.

I greatly enjoyed the first book in the Cider House Mystery series, so I was excited to read this second installment in the series, Pulp Friction. I enjoy that this series is set in West Virginia, which gives it a uniqueness not found in other cozies. I also enjoy the relationship between Winnie and her grandmother, which continues in this book. I didn't find the mystery in this book to be as compelling as the first book's mystery. There seemed to be a revolving door of minor characters parading through as suspects, and the reason provided at the conclusion for the murders seemed a little far fetched. Overall, I still enjoyed the book, but in an average way.

Thanks go to NetGalley and Kensington Publishing for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

In this second installment in the A Cider Shop Mystery series, Winnie has successfully saved her family's business, Smythe Orchards, from going into major debt and is enjoying the success of her newly opened cider shop, which has quickly become a popular destination for locals and tourists to enjoy her ciders and her grandmother's delectable baked goods. She is delighted to be hosting their first event, a wedding for one of the wealthiest families in Blossom Valley. Unfortunately, what should have been a wonderful day turns into a nightmare when the groom is murdered at the wedding, and her ex-boyfriend Hank, who was seen arguing with the groom, becomes the main suspect. Winnie decides to investigate to clear his name.

This is a wonderful and engaging read, with a well-written cast of characters, a picturesque setting, and a clever mystery. Winnie is a character that readers will find relatable and likable. She's hardworking, determined, and loyal to her friends and family. I thought she was a very good sleuth. She acted responsibly and didn't make rash decisions, however, trouble seems to find her even when she's not looking for it. Her relationship with her grandmother and Dot is very enjoyable and adds another wonderful layer to the story. The relationship between Winnie and Colton is progressing at a good pace. We learn new details about Colton's past, and I can't wait to see what the author does with that storyline. The murder mystery had enough suspects and clues to keep me on the edge of my seat. I did manage to figure out who the culprit was about halfway through the story but wasn't sure of their motive.
I think this is a great addition to the series, and I eagerly await the third book.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I've been enjoying this series so far. In this, the second book in the Cider Shop mystery series, Winnie's cider shop is really taking off. She has started having events in the barn, with the latest being a wedding reception. The happy occasion, however, takes a turn when the groom is found dead and Winnie's ex is looking like a viable suspect. Winnie and Hank might have their issues, but WInnie knows Hank is no murderer. It's up to her to find the murderer and clear her ex - while trying not to tick off the sheriff.

The writing in both books in this series is enjoyable, the characters relatable and likeable, and the setting delightfully cozy. I look forward to the third installment,.

Hard to put this book down. Couldn't wait to finish it but now bummed that I have to wait to read the next installment. Great mystery, and loved the foreshadowing at the end. Need the next book now!!

There is something delightful about apples. They are such a diverse fruit. They make the perfect pie, the perfect snack, and as I'm learning from Winnie Mae Montgomery ... the perfect cider too!

In the second Cider Shop Mystery, all is coming up roses for Winnie and her grandma, as Smythe Orchards and the Cider Shop are doing better than ever. They've planned their first wedding in the barn, and it looks to be a successful season. However, things start to go awry when the groom is killed the night of the wedding, outside the barn. With ex-boyfriend and now some-what friend, Hank, pinned for the crime, Winnie decides to investigate to clear his name.

I really liked the first book in this series, Apple Cider Slaying. There was something fresh and wonderful about it. It was the first series, that I've read, that centred around an apple orchard, and I instantly took a liking to all the characters in Blossom Valley. When the second book came up on my radar, I was super excited to dive in!

Smythe Orchard (and even Winnie Mae herself) is definitely a rag to riches story that I think readers will appreciate. After the death of her Grampy, Winnie is helping her Granny make Smythe Orchard a success again, with the help of the Cider shop, and it's heart warming to see their success pay off! One of the things I like about this story is that I really love the relationship between Granny and Winnie. Winnie's mom ran off when she was young, her Granny raised her, and their relationship is the sweetest thing!

Oh boy this mystery kept me on my toes!! Julie Anne Lindsey did a great job of deceiving me when it came to try to figure out the killer! It's been a while since I've been stumped completely, and I love that she managed to do that!!! For most of the book I was clueless to the killer's identify, and really just taking stabs in the dark!!!

If you're looking for a new series to jump into I highly recommend the Cider Shop Mysteries. They are fresh, unique and a lot of fun. If you like animals in your mystery, then I suggest you run to the bookshop and buy them now... let me just leave you with... fainting goat!

She does such a good job painting the scenery, I pretty much want to move to Blossom Valley! I enjoyed visiting the series again; it was great to check in with everyone and drool over the cider. The mystery annoyed me a bit because I can’t figure out what she and Hank are doing, they’re ridiculous! Overall though, I enjoyed the book.

I loved this cozy. Ms. Lindsey's attention to detail and characters made it a very enjoyable and fast paced read.
When a new groom at Winnie Montgomery's grandmother's orchard is murdered and an old ex looks suspicious, Winnie's curiosity is piqued. When the ex, Hank, and his girlfriend disappear and his sister, a friend of hers begs for help to find him, she is drawn into the investigation against her better judgment.
She snoops along with a few good friends, eventually adding the Sheriif and Hank as she runs her cider business and tries to find clues to solve the groom's murder, as well as the murder of a body they came across.
There are plenty of suspects to find and rule out as well as a sweet budding romance with the sheriff to make this a fun read. I recommend it highly.
I requested and received a Netgalley ARC to peruse gratis and offer my honest opinion in the same spirit.

This book was everything a second installment should be, it still tied into the first book but went into a different direction enough to not feel like you were reading the same story again. Just reading the character dialogue made me grin, they are so engaging and it’s amazing how the author brings their story lines together. The mystery was well executed and really kept me guessing. Definitely an enjoyable read!

This is the second book in the A Cider Shop Mystery by Julie Anne Lindsey.

I am totally digging this series. And this one left off on a cliffhanger and I am so ready for book three!

Basic premise: Someone else has died on the Cider House ground during a wedding service and it just happened to be the groom! Winnie gets caught up in the whodunit much to Sheriff Colton's dismay.

This book was particularly well done. I am in awe of her plotting skills. There are even far reaching consequences show up here that won't be dealt with until book three. I loved the back and forth between the sheriff and Winnie. You never know what Colton has on his mind or what his intentions are where Winnie is concerned. By the end you know his true feelings and it gave me all the feels.

The mystery aspect was a bit mind boggling but it totally made sense when it all washed out in the end. A lot of the threads to what was truly going on happened near the last half and if you tend to skim, don't do that with this book or you will be lost for sure. This is one amazing read!

Even though I hated the character of Hank in the beginning, he started to grow on me with his annoying ability to keep popping up when Winnie least expected him. The cast is just spot on and continues to deliver with quirky and interesting populating this Cider universe.

I am a bit saddened we never learned of the outcome of how Winnie did in the national Cider contest but I am sure that will come up in a future book. How can it not, right? I like how the author gave some background to Colton in this book making like him even more than we did originally. Always a good thing. New favorite series, for sure! Be sure and give this one a try if you love cozy mysteries. You won’t be disappointed.

I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.

Another enjoyable visit with Winnie and her Granny Smythe at their cider shop and orchard in WV. This is an entertaining series set in a cozy town. Winnie, her granny and all of their friends are funny, quirky, and engaging. The mystery was well laid out with plenty of clues if you are looking to solve it first. This is the second book in the series and I look forward to more.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book.

Pulp Friction is the second book in the A Cider Shop Mystery series set in Blossom Valley, WV and featuring cider shop owner Winnie Montgomery. Opening her new cider shop has brought in a lot of locals and also event bookings for her Granny's, Smythe Orchards and Winnie is grateful that the risk of losing the family orchard is over.

Winnie is proud to be hosting the wedding of Elsie Sawyer to Jack Warren. While the actual wedding ceremony goes off without a hitch, things take a turn at the reception when the groom becomes highly intoxicated and begins arguing with members of the wedding party and then with Winnie's ex-boyfriend Hank Donovan. When the groom is run down and killed by his "honeymoon" truck all fingers point to Hank as the killer.

Hank's sister, Gina begs Winnie to track down the real killer and clear her brother's name. The one problem? Hank's gone missing. Despite the warnings from Sheriff Colton Wise and her Granny, Winnie sets out with the help of her best friend Dot and quickly finds herself the killer's next target.

A fast paced and well written plot. The cast of characters (and animals) transport you right into the heart of Blossom Valley. I could almost taste the delicious ciders that Winnie creates. Just the right touch of romance, I'm looking forward to more adventures with Winnie and her friends. Plus, I can't wait to see what the next animal Dot will convince Winnie and Granny to adopt.

I received an advanced copy of Pulp Friction from NetGalley via Kensington Publishing. While not required to write a review I am happy to offer my honest opinion.

Another delightful entry in this cozy mystery series. It was a lot of fun to re-visit these characters and also read a great mystery.

Overall this was an engaging book. I like the setting of the apple orchard, although I kept forgetting it was in West Virginia. I would have liked a bit m or description of that part of the country to get more setting. I did have trouble at times keeping track of who the characters were, but I did like the main central character,Winnie. I had pegged the culprit pretty early on, although there were some red herrings thrown in that made me question it. I found some of the resolution to be a bit shaky if you look too closely, but if you just read this for enjoyment it is a good use of your time!
