Bob Goff is a unique person! His approach to achieving happiness and getting what you want out of life is definitely different than others and a lot more risky. But, the payoff is immense if you follow his lead. I really enjoyed listening to his experiences. |
Goff is my faith guru. He resonates compassion and understanding when you don’t even know him personally - you feel like you do. This book lifted me up. Gave me hope. And is a must read for 2020 and the anxious times we find ourselves in. |
True Bob fashion!!!! This book sets the stage. Breaks it down. And then shoots you into the stars to just go for the big stuff. Bob is so inspirational and his voice when writing or speaking encourages anyone and everyone. He makes sense. Do the hard things. Don't limit yourself. Why not just go for anything that you might be dreaming for and set your standards higher than maybe makes sense. I love the way this book is laid out. I was so excited to hear about another Bob Goff book and this book was just what I was hoping for. I hit 40 this year and I want to reach other the unreachable. This book inspires any reader to do that and how!!! |
I just adore Bob Goff and have from the first time I read about him in one of Donald Miller’s books about 10 years ago. I’ve read Love Does, Everybody Always, and now Dream Big. I fully plan on getting any more books that this wonderful guy writes. This book is about getting through all the mess in your life to figure out your purpose and ambition. It’s about navigating failure, opening yourself up, never comparing yourself to others, and so many more helpful things. One of the best parts about this book is the workbook in the back. It’s one thing to talk about making changes, but it’s even better to map out an action plan. The guide helps you figure out your goals through sections of questions based on different chapters. Another thing that Goff is great at is finding the perfect illustration to teach something. They are often funny, self-deprecating, sometimes a bit “woo-woo precious,” but they always seem to work. Some just stop me in my tracks and I scramble for my highlighter. - His books always give me a positivity boost, even to an old Pollyanna like me. He also includes his cell # in his books in case you need to call him. 😍 - Goff expresses all these ideas with a Christian lens. He sees Jesus as someone whose purpose is/was love and servanthood. Period. Not beating people over the head with judgement but showering them with LOVE. I try my hardest to show as much love to everyone as I can, but y’all it is hard when there are people that refuse to wear masks, post obviously false conspiracy theories on Facebook, scream all lives matter, and get me in a tizzy. Deep breath. Trying to love them too as I’m sending them the Snopes article link. 🤦🏼♀️ - I definitely don’t have all the answers, but I do know this book has left me feeling encouraged and loved. - Thank you to @netgalley and @thomasnelson for this copy and for letting me review this great book |

What can you say about Bob Goff? He's unique, fun, serious, profound, loving, understanding, intelligent, witty, and a darned fine author. "Dream Big" is Bob's latest offering. It's mostly amazing, mouth agape stories. Don't try to determine your favorite Bob Goff story. It's too much like picking your favorite child. This book is more than fun, however. Bob brings a serious seminar approach too. He wants the reader to self-examine, be bold, and grow. This book is five stars. |
I have always wanted to read Bob Goff but never made the time. I was thrilled to receive a review copy from NetGalley. While some of the advice didn't hit home for me (it probably is because I am stuck home due to the pandemic!), there were some motivational passages that were important. There are a lot of lessons in here that many people need to read, understand, and implement in their life. Let's do the work! |
In a different season, I would have enjoyed this book. I am a big believer in trusting God, dreaming big dreams based on God's promises, and trusting that our prayers create more than we realize. But the timing of this book, with it's rather gee-whiz tone and glib joking humor, misses the mark for me in this time of tumult and chaos. Bob Goff is a law professor, which suggests a capacity for serious conversation as well as parades and boundless enthusiasm. I would have appreciated a little more of his serious side as a balance. This feels like a book for the America we thought we were six months ago. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. |
Bob Goff hits another home run with Dream Big! This book offers readers a simple and straightforward way to recognize and categorize their long latent ambitions. But there's so much more! Goff also gives the reader a simple yet effective outline to turn those ambitions into actions. This hilarious take on chasing down your dreams will not only encourage you to go deep and live an authentic life, it will also remind you that the most valuable ambitions are those that enhance the lives of those around us. I also picked up the study companion for this book and found it very enjoyable. Would highly recommend for a small group study. |
An encouraging, thought-provoking read! Instead of talking at you, Goff talks to you. He lays out some doable tasks to propel you forward with your dreams, goals, and ambitions. I’m looking forward to reading back through and putting some of the advice into action. Thank you to Netgalley and Thomas Nelson for an advanced copy. |
In the book Dream Big, author Bob Goff, takes us on a journey to dream big dreams and then turn them into reality. Goff writes, “Dreams are too easy. Even my dog wags its tail when it’s asleep. I want you to become fully awake to your biggest and most worthwhile ambitions by becoming fully awake to yourself and your God-given purposes.” But Goff does not want us to just dream for ourselves. He wants our dreams to make a difference in others. Goff states, “Someone wiser than me once asked, "If God answered every one of your prayers, would it change anybody’s life except your own?"” This is a good book with great stories as only Goff can tell. Like when he writes about his coffee: “They call my drink of choice at the local coffee stand "Goffee." It’s two shots of energy drink and three shots of espresso. I may die young, but I’ll be wide awake when I do.” I would recommend this practical and challenging book. I received a copy of this e-book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. |
Bob Goff is a best-selling author and has clearly accomplished a lot. This motivational book is about exactly what the title says – dream big. Goff shares some introspective questions and some exercises to help you think bigger. He shares some stories, including from his own life. There wasn’t much new here. I don’t recall any a-ha moments, though the book is an enjoyable read. One caveat: there are a lot of references to God and Jesus, almost every page, though it’s not didactic. However, if you’re bothered by heavy use of Christian themes, you will not enjoy this book. |
One of the best books I have ever read!! The way Bob writes feels as if you were sitting down with him having a conversation. He is such a great storyteller and knows how to get a point across simply. It doesn't feel like digging into the questions he asks. I had a notebook with me at all times while reading this because of how much this book made me think. I highly suggest this book to anyone. it makes you think deep and dig into your ambitions. |

Bob shares passionately and transparently from the many adventures in his own life. His call is to live into the dreams, hopes aspirations and vision God is giving you for your life. He warns against settling into the hum-drum routine of life and setting the bar low for ourselves when God is giving us a higher calling. This book will help you re-examine yourself, your life and your calling - definitely worth the read for a breath of fresh inspiration. |
Dream Big by Bob Goff This book took me through many emotions, from sad to laugh out loud funny. He not only tells us to ‘dream big’ he tells us the way to get to our goal. He must be a very enchanting person to be around. So many experiences. He’s willing to let us see himself as funny as well as his failures along the way. I did enjoy it. All the experiences as well as the journey to get where we want to be was interesting, and also let us know it’s really possible. It was well worth reading. I would highly recommend this book. I received a complimentary copy from Nelson Books through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. The opinion expressed here is strictly my own. |

No one dreams bigger than Bob Goff! This book is full of practical advice on how to identify your dreams and bring them to life. Bob Goff is one of a kind and I think he provides good guidance here. Thanks for the opportunity to read this book. I would recommend to anyone looking to build a life of meaning and purpose. |
5 stars Dream Big is the first book written by Bob Goff that I have read/listened to. I love all the stories he shared about his own experiences. Highly impressive. His tips are encouraging and reiterate the need to jump out in faith when pursuing your dreams. Thank you Netgalley and Nelson Books for the ARC of this book. |

Bob Goff is one of my favorite authors. I have read his books, “Love Does” and “Everybody Always.” So when I heard he had “Dream Big” coming out, I pre-ordered it on Audible. Having read Bob’s other books, I knew he’d have a great perspective on reaching dreams. One thing I really like about this book, as well as some of his others, is that he tells lots of stories, which keep me engaged, but they have spiritual and life lessons attached. In the introduction of this book, Bob said, “I’ve written a few books and some of the stories probably made you laugh, while others made you cry. I want this book to make you think.” This book made me laugh and think. It challenged me to live life to its fullest and not settle for mediocre. At this stage of my life, I need a little push. One of his quotes that really inspired me was at the beginning of Chapter 23, “The minute between planning and taking action is the difference between daydreamers and real dreamers.” I have aspirations of writing a book “one day.” I used to at least write a couple of blogs, but now, I have gotten distracted, so Chapter 24, “One Thousand Words” is probably my favorite. His practical tips are something I intend to put into practice. I highly recommend this book. It’s funny, inspirational, and challenging all at the same time. I think you will enjoy it as much as I did. |
This is my first Bob Goff book, and I enjoyed it so much I will definitely be picking up the others. The faith pieces fit very naturally in this, but the author is careful to acknowledge that some readers might not be coming to the material sharing his faith system. I loved the personal stories sprinkled throughout the book. I would just read his stories and be perfectly happy. The first section of the book - and the longest - deals with character qualities the author believes readers need to address before digging into the meat of the book about ambitions and dreams. Don't be put off by those early chapters - the lay out of the book makes sense. The questions for readers to work through are compiled at the end of the book. Readers who want to go through the questions as they read will just need to flip ahead. Personally, I read through cover to cover and then will go back and review my highlights as I work through the questions. Goff fans should not hesitate to pick this up. Readers looking for help in determining and working towards their dreams should pick this up as well. (My recommendation for those folks would be to read this and also read FINISH by Jon Acuff.) |

I was able to get an advance copy from the publisher. Bob Goff is great writer. This is a great book to remind you to not give up on your dreams and to remember dreams from your past. Thanks Bob for your wisdom and insight! |
