Wowsers. I think I highlighted half of this book. That's how good it was. So good that I both listened to the audiobook AND read the ebook. This guy has so much audacity, but not so much that he annoys me. (I'm look at you, Gary V.) No, Bob Goff has the kind of audacity that is contagious. The kind that makes you want to run after the biggest ambitions that you've had, make them happen, and reach for the stars...or further. Not in an unrealistic way. Actually, he does a fabulous job of laying out the realities of going after your ambitions. The failures. The setbacks. The climbing toward the big ones that seem outright impossible but layering some of the smaller ambitions out like stairs to climb up so that the big ambitions come within reach.
I have read a lot of book about dreaming big, visions boards, goal setting.....and I have enjoyed many of them. But this one just seems real. It seems so realistic and so relatable...even though he is an ex-lawyer who seems to have done just about everything there is to do. Still relatable.
That speaks to just how real this guy comes across. Just how conversationally he talks and writes. I have already started taking action on some of the many highlightable portions of this book. In fact, it's made me rethink so many of my ideas and ambitions that my head is bursting...but in fact, so is my heart.
Can you tell how much I loved this book?
No, okay....
Just kidding, I'm sure you can.
The thing is, I've read other Bob Goff books and just felt kind of meh about them. So much so that I almost didn't read this one. But I'm so glad that I did. And I have a sneaking suspicion that I will go back to it over and over again.

The first Bob Goff book I read was "Everybody, Always: Becoming Love in a World Full of Setbacks and Difficult People." He is such a great storyteller. I became an instant fan just based on his approaches to life and to the ways he interacts with people. I requested "Dream Big" to see if he had something new to say about how to reach goals, follow dreams we have for ourselves, etc. I have been fearing that I don't have ambitions or dreams for myself any more. Covid-19, our isolation from each other, coupled with my chronic illnesses that seem to flare more than usual, I lost focus on what I used to want for my life. I'm turning 50 in January, so I have started a backward journey in my memories. Goff reminds me that my ambitions are not necessarily based on what I have done (public affairs, teaching) or what I went to school to study. My life's experiences alone may have equipped me more than the work and study I've done. I shouldn't mistake others' ambitions for what I should be doing with my life either; it's not a comparison game. I need to do some soul-searching, too, he said, and understand why the dreams I had for myself took a backseat. What ended my motivation to work toward them?

And I found agreement with him in that I want my ambitions to positively impact the people, community, and the world. Even if it's anonymously! He's opened my mind to the small and big ways I can move forward now. I love that part of going for our ambitions is: help someone else achieve theirs. Goff is about "availability" and being ready for opportunities in life. I laughed when he said he put his cell number in this book, too. (I am tempted to call and ask about the "two boys" he talked about from one of the miracles he mentions. I remember the one boy's lunch was used by Jesus, but where's the other boy?)

I think this book would be excellent as a graduation gift. I also think this would make a lovely birthday gift to encourage and inspire the person's "new year." Thanks to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson for this copy of Dream Big by Bob Goff in exchange for an honest review,

Sometimes I doubt the credibility of self-help or inspirational books, but not in this case. Bob Goff has conducted so many in-person Dream Big workshops and has learned so much from the people he has helped and worked with. I look forward to recommending this book to readers. It is actually perfect for the pandemic, as it urges us to re-evaluate our lives and our dreams and to think big and make meaningful changes. An excellent book.

As usual, Bob Goff delivers an uplifting, wholesome, inspiring, and helpful book! This (as the title suggests), encourages the reader to bring their dreams to life in his whimsical, enneagram 7 way!
Threaded with hilarious anecdotes along with sad stories, and a message of hope, basically anyone could gain from reading this book.

I have loved Bob's previous books, and was excited to have the opportunity to read this book ahead of the release. Man, this book did not disappoint, and it has me dreaming of what is next for me, and really diving into why those dreams are important to me. I personally love Bob's writing style and how he asks questions throughout the book that are always stirring new thoughts up. If you are a dreamer, or maybe stuck in your current ways, I would highly recommend this book. It was great, and really has me thinking about my next adventure that I'm dreaming big about!

This work felt so applicable and so beneficial as an adult in my twenties. In Dream Big, Bob Goff highlights how important it is to be specific and honest about what my dreams are and how those dreams are often limited by barriers I have set or created. I find myself in seasons of feeling stuck or uninspired particularly now, in the midst of a global pandemic, and this work reminds me to really explore and identity my ambitions both in the short and long term. Dream Big provides thoughtful questions and examples of how my life can be positively altered by consciously taking small tangible steps now to be able to live a life that is living into my calling from Christ. Bob Goff implores me to be honest, vulnerable, and willing to fail.. I received an advanced reader copy of this work to provide my honest feedback.

Dream Big by Bob Goff was easily one of the best books I have read this year. Bob is gentle (but firm), loving and kind, and hilarious in his writing. Although he takes on a big topic he managed to make it feel as if you were sharing life advice with a trusted friend. Honestly, this book came at a perfect time for me, I have been struggling to uncover what I actually want to accomplish in life as college graduation comes near. Goff has helped me uncover my ambitions and reveal step by step action plans so I can accomplish them. If you have never had the pleasure of reading a Bob Goff book I highly suggest you pick one up as it could easily change your life. (Note: While this book is faith-based, Goff manages it nicely so even the non-believer could benefit from this amazing book).

Its a very Bob Goff book - full of encouragement, humor & direction - but also, to me, a look at a blessed life. I dont mean to look at his writing sometimes as a bragging experience because I know he's using his life as a "this can happen to you too"... but, yeah, not really. Not everyone can open a law firm & then be so comfortable that they leave it behind. I dont know - it just rubs me the wrong way. Did I mark a lot of things that stood out as inspiriting or great reminders - yes... did I roll my eyes at some of it & say, "sure... yeah... right?" a lot of time, yes. The thing about books, you get your own individual take on each one of them. I did still enjoy parts of it - but this one is my least favorite of his other books.

What is not to like about this book?

It is Bob Goff!! The most whimsical person I have ever heard or was given the chance to meet once. This man has a way of dumbing down the things I try so hard to overthink into an easy way to understand what God is up to. Don’t forget to Dream Big!

I read the book.
I listened to the audio
I plan to share the need to get this book with all my friends.

Read this book once or twice you won’t be sorry!!

Thank you netgalley for the opportunity to read and listen to this book. The review is mine.

Bob Goff does it again. I just love his writing, his advice, and his faith-centric approach to life. I’ve read Love Does and Everybody, Always, and I know, without a doubt, that if I pick up one of his books, I am going to be enamored with his laugh-out-loud personal anecdotes and be engrossed with his message.

The premise of Goff’s newest novel is just as simple as the title: Dream Big. He walks you through how to clear your pathways of unnecessary clutter to keep focusing on your dreams with a faith-based foundation.

So often this is missing in our society and culture, where you’re asked to just wash away life and come out perfect, but that isn’t the point, and it isn’t realistic. Goff is always so uplifting yet realistic.

In Dream Big, Bob Goff walks you through the thought process of what do you REALLY want, and WHY? And once you have determined that, he walks you through how to set up a step-by-step plan to reach your goal.

Without a doubt, Bob Goff will walk you through your own journey, but bring you out at the end thinking: how can I serve others as passionate as I am about my dreams? And how can my dreams serve others?

LOVE IT! WELL DONE, BOB GOFF! I can’t wait to read his next book!

I'm a big Bob Goff fan. His previous books have been very enjoyable and I always look forward to reading his crazy stories. I feel as though this book was more on the "self-help" side of things which didn't work as well for me. Bob still writes in his same style with a friendly, uplifting tone, and it is a good read, just may be a bit different than expected if you have read his previous books.

Bob Goff is a unique person! His approach to achieving happiness and getting what you want out of life is definitely different than others and a lot more risky. But, the payoff is immense if you follow his lead. I really enjoyed listening to his experiences.

Goff is my faith guru. He resonates compassion and understanding when you don’t even know him personally - you feel like you do. This book lifted me up. Gave me hope. And is a must read for 2020 and the anxious times we find ourselves in.

True Bob fashion!!!! This book sets the stage. Breaks it down. And then shoots you into the stars to just go for the big stuff. Bob is so inspirational and his voice when writing or speaking encourages anyone and everyone. He makes sense. Do the hard things. Don't limit yourself. Why not just go for anything that you might be dreaming for and set your standards higher than maybe makes sense.

I love the way this book is laid out. I was so excited to hear about another Bob Goff book and this book was just what I was hoping for. I hit 40 this year and I want to reach other the unreachable. This book inspires any reader to do that and how!!!

I just adore Bob Goff and have from the first time I read about him in one of Donald Miller’s books about 10 years ago. I’ve read Love Does, Everybody Always, and now Dream Big. I fully plan on getting any more books that this wonderful guy writes.

This book is about getting through all the mess in your life to figure out your purpose and ambition. It’s about navigating failure, opening yourself up, never comparing yourself to others, and so many more helpful things.

One of the best parts about this book is the workbook in the back. It’s one thing to talk about making changes, but it’s even better to map out an action plan. The guide helps you figure out your goals through sections of questions based on different chapters.

Another thing that Goff is great at is finding the perfect illustration to teach something. They are often funny, self-deprecating, sometimes a bit “woo-woo precious,” but they always seem to work. Some just stop me in my tracks and I scramble for my highlighter.

His books always give me a positivity boost, even to an old Pollyanna like me. He also includes his cell # in his books in case you need to call him. 😍

Goff expresses all these ideas with a Christian lens. He sees Jesus as someone whose purpose is/was love and servanthood. Period. Not beating people over the head with judgement but showering them with LOVE. I try my hardest to show as much love to everyone as I can, but y’all it is hard when there are people that refuse to wear masks, post obviously false conspiracy theories on Facebook, scream all lives matter, and get me in a tizzy. Deep breath. Trying to love them too as I’m sending them the Snopes article link. 🤦🏼‍♀️

I definitely don’t have all the answers, but I do know this book has left me feeling encouraged and loved.

What can you say about Bob Goff?
He's unique, fun, serious, profound, loving, understanding, intelligent, witty, and a darned fine author.
"Dream Big" is Bob's latest offering. It's mostly amazing, mouth agape stories. Don't try to determine your favorite Bob Goff story. It's too much like picking your favorite child.
This book is more than fun, however. Bob brings a serious seminar approach too. He wants the reader to self-examine, be bold, and grow.
This book is five stars.

I have always wanted to read Bob Goff but never made the time. I was thrilled to receive a review copy from NetGalley. While some of the advice didn't hit home for me (it probably is because I am stuck home due to the pandemic!), there were some motivational passages that were important. There are a lot of lessons in here that many people need to read, understand, and implement in their life. Let's do the work!

In a different season, I would have enjoyed this book. I am a big believer in trusting God, dreaming big dreams based on God's promises, and trusting that our prayers create more than we realize. But the timing of this book, with it's rather gee-whiz tone and glib joking humor, misses the mark for me in this time of tumult and chaos. Bob Goff is a law professor, which suggests a capacity for serious conversation as well as parades and boundless enthusiasm. I would have appreciated a little more of his serious side as a balance. This feels like a book for the America we thought we were six months ago.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Bob Goff hits another home run with Dream Big! This book offers readers a simple and straightforward way to recognize and categorize their long latent ambitions. But there's so much more! Goff also gives the reader a simple yet effective outline to turn those ambitions into actions. This hilarious take on chasing down your dreams will not only encourage you to go deep and live an authentic life, it will also remind you that the most valuable ambitions are those that enhance the lives of those around us. I also picked up the study companion for this book and found it very enjoyable. Would highly recommend for a small group study.
