As an eco-friendly vegetarian I'm always looking for ways to 1. cheapen my grocery bill 2. obtain natural/organic/fresh produce 3. reduce my waste & be more sustainable so this seemed like a fitting read for me. I currently grow my own herbs (sometimes) and green onion (always!), I was hoping all the advice in here would be for veggies et al. as simple as the green onion BUT they're not. Some of them are (leeks) but some are slower and use a bit more brain power (horseradish). Once the summer heat decreases a bit I'll definitely be trying a few of these other veggies out in my garden like lemongrass. I'm not however, going to be regrowing a pineapple or avocado because I don't have years to wait.

For me this felt like it should be a blog post or an influencer "e-book" guide rather than a full on print book.

Overall, I'd use this as a reference guide - you certainly won't be able to read it once and retain everything you need to know about growing these veggies. There was a great variety of veggies and a good variety of levels of patience to have with growing these. It's a good, helpful read EXCEPT I'm now confused about coriander vs. cilantro (are they the same?!).

I found this book fascinating. How to make plants grow and regrow them from roots and cuttings is a topic that interests me a lot at the moment. The book contains simple step-by-step instructions, illustrations, and some useful information about how much light and warmth each plant needs. The book also includes information about the difficulty. Suitable for beginners.

Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this! All opinions are my own.

Highly recommend for not just the sustainable types, but the extremely sustainable types. Seriously, regrowing veggies that you buy at the supermarket? I mean, alright? Maybe if the apocalypse occurs between when you go to the grocery store and when you get home… Ha, I kid, if you really want to regrow your vegetables to start your own veggie garden, then this is a great resource.

This book is amazing and I didn't know I needed it until it came into my life.

Ok, recently I discovered my love for plants of all kinds and it was only time for me to reach the world of vegetables. And you have no idea how proud I felt when I planted tomato seeds for the first time and sprouts came out. Are you saying that I can have free vegetables? oh yeah!

So here I am with this book.... dying of happiness because it's great. This book explain each step accurately and easily and also has tips in case something goes wrong, it's just perfect. Totally recommended for those who love this kind of thing and for those who are curious, seriously ... it is very easy. If I could do it, everyone can (I was one of those people who killed plants just by looking at them and now I'm a proud plant mom). Now excuse me because I'm going to plant my perfect vegetable garden.

I've had good results at regrowing live lettuce but have never attempted regrowing anything else, so this book caught my attention. It's great! It has clear instructions, good information, lots of pictures, and is sure to inspire me to try growing more veggies. I also like that there is a chapter included on preventing problems.

Great home reference, even for those of us with black thumbs! I am currently trying some of the tips in this book to regrow some veggies, it's going well so far!

This book was great! A super easy, step-by-step, informative book for beginners. It does only have a select few vegetables; however, they are very common and a great introduction to the basics for regrowing your own food. I loved that there was information provided about each vegetable as well as photos to show the steps of the regrowth. I also appreciated the suggestions on how to use your regrown veggies, not recipes but just suggestions for roasting or putting something in a soup. There is also a little "Regrow-Check" for each plant that tells you the level of sun, humidity, warmth, and the difficultly to grow them. At the end there is a section on problems that may occur, which aims to explain what may have gone wrong and what you can do about it. This section is especially valuable to me seeing as whenever I try to follow anything step-by-step mine always turns out quite wrong. The added list of other resources was great seeing as this is quite a simple book and they know that you will need to know more than just what's in here if you want to continue to grow your own food, but it's a great place to start.

In these crazy and uncertain times that we know as COVID 19, this would be a great resource for novice gardeners who want to start a garden in a small space. This book is beautifully illustrated with step by step guides to regrowing vegetables that you already use.

I started a small garden in April to celebrate Earth Day with some of my students. I plan to try some of the things mentioned in this book in lieu of buying seeds.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a digital copy in exchange for my honest review.

I can see that the information here may be helpful at some point. This guide is pretty basic, but does give some good ideas for getting started. Several of the vegetables/fruits discussed will NOT actually grow more veggies; rather, they can make really nice decorative plants. I'm thinking maybe these shouldn't belong in a book with this title. But, for beginning gardeners, just knowing which make attractive plants might be of use. These novice "gardeners" would be the prime audience for this book, as well as anyone endeavoring to live more gently on this earth.

I received an ARC ebook from Netgalley in order the leave an unbiased accounting.

In this time of uncertainty and the prospect of food shortages, I found this book to be a great resource. It was a pleasing combination of the history of various vegetables, simple instructions for regrowing them, and ideas of how to prepare and serve them. Lots of photos made it even more enjoyable. I look forward to putting the book into practice with my young granddaughter who is a budding gardener. Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Simple and very well laid out, this book details how to regrow many common vegetables that most of us have in our homes right now. A good book if this is a new topic for you, but valuable nonetheless.

There were some issues with the copy I had. A few sentences were cut off, and there were portions in German. I have some experience as a gardener, and I was evaluating this book through the lens of what it was offering that I couldn't find online for free. The main strengths of this book are the table ranking light, humidity, & time to grow requirements, lists of technical terms, and ways to deal with pests and growing conditions. I was disappointed with some of the plants listed here as regrows. Given the introduction emphasizing regrowing as a way to reduce waste/ improve sustainability, it seemed counterproductive to me that some of the plants listed only partially regenerate or can only be used as ornamentals after being regrown. The book was informative and easy to understand but of limited usefulness.

This is a good basic beginners guide to help you start a small garden of easy to grow veggies that you already purchase. It is not only the perfect way to get more bang for your buck it is the prefect kind of gardening for small spaces and in these uncertain times it surely can't hurt to consider trying this. This book is wonderfully illustrated and includes step by step guides to regrowing food that you already purchase and eat. there are also a few I have never heard of and a few i did not know you could regrow so I found this very helpful!

I recommend this book to anybody wishing to try a small garden because these vegetables are easy to grow and you are not going to spend very much to get started.

Very nice book! I've been looking for something like this for a long time. I love regrowing my veggies and I wanted to learn more about it. This book is pretty nice and clear. There are photos and tips of how to regrow some veggies. I wish there were more variety of veggies and more tips about the soil (like what pH). This was a fun hands on book to get you going on regrowing food from your scraps. A great book for our current situation as this can be done in any home no matter the size and you don't have to become a gardener to do it. Informational and easy to follow.

This is such a basic and informative book, absolutely fabulous for both adults to save money and regrowing vegetables, but a wonderful educational and proactive way for children to understand vegetables and learn to love growing things. In doing so maybe instill a love of gardening for the future.
The instructions are very easy and have color photos for each step, the results are like magic, from a "throw away" root, seed or stem comes a brand new plant ready to eat.
Really interesting book

Regrow Your Veggies ... this is an interesting concept. It has excellent photography, effective illustrations, and detailed instructions. It covers various general growing details (light, temperature, soil) and a wide variety of foods (including but not limited to potato, ginger, and mango).

My initial impression was that this book is designed for city dwellers who have no space for traditional gardening but want to have some control over access to their food and its freshness. As somewhat of a traditional gardener, I wondered what use I would have for this growing approach. But I was easily sucked in by the concept of just trying it ... purchasing something from the market that I love to eat, and using the seed or remnants to grow it on my own.

Herbs such as basil, coriander, turmeric and mint seem obvious choices for me to try. And having my own avocado tree has its own appeal. I blog under the tagline “creating my own little patch of happiness in OKC,” and I am always willing to try something new. I will certainly use some of the ideas detailed in this book as I continue to cultivate my little patch. You can find me blogging at Patch405.com.

I was offered an advance digital copy of this book by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions expressed here are my own.
