An utterly delightful story filled with humor, wonderful dialogue and two people, who thought they wanted different things, but in the end would come to see what mattered most.
Elliot Havenford, Baron Ralston needed a wife. A rich wife. Having been left an estate and properties that were literally falling down around him, plus his sister Meg, who deserved so much, he came to the conclusion he would focus on Lady Nina Trent.
Nina had been engaged to Lord Avalon and thought he cared for her until she found out he had a mistress he would not give up. Humiliation.
As Elliott puts his plan into action, he learns Nina is trying to get the attention of a Duke. One who is boring, safe and without excitement. Or at least that is Elliott's opinion. He puts a proposition to her that he will help make him jealous by seeming to court her and teaching her how to snare a gentleman, all the while winning her for himself.
There is so much more to it than that and honestly, I was laughing out loud many times and especially when it came to Zeb and their walk!!
This has to be on one of my favorite books I have read and I encourage you to read. Trust me, you will love it! I read this through NetGallery and the publisher.

Oh! I did enjoy this story very much. Elliot Havenford, Baron Ralston was certainly a rogue and had a reputation as a skilful lover. However, he also had charm and a wicked sense of humour. Lady Nina Trent, had one unsuccessful betrothal and was now looking for a suitable husband. Someone who her family, particularly her cantankerous grandmother, would approve of. Nina has been known as having a wild streak, Ralston is an old friend and she agrees to his help in securing a husband. Ralston is in need of a wife, as his uncle left him with debts to pay but he is enterprising and not afraid to work. There were many amusing episodes, some dangerous ones and certainly some happy ones. There are several interesting secondary characters, Ralston’s sister, Meg, a bit of a mystery there and his friend Lord Adam Talbot, who has issues with his father. Of course, who could forget Zeb, Ralston’s inherited, ancient bloodhound, what a sweetie he was! This was a very entertaining read and I look forward to reading more in this series. I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I received an ARC of this book to read through NetGalley in exchange for a fair review. Never Conspire With A Sinful Baron is the fourth book in Renee Ann Miller’s intriguing Infamous Lords Series. It can be read as a stand-alone, characters from previous books in the series appear in this one, but each book stands on its own, and you will not feel as if you are missing something. Lady Nina Trent ended her engagement when she discovered that her suitor had a mistress whom he loved and who was carrying his child. Under the influence of her martinet of a Grandmother, she is now looking for a safe husband, and the Duke of Fernbridge seems to be a perfect candidate. Rakish Lord Elliott Havenford inherited the Ralston Barony from his uncle and a mountain of debt, two decrepit houses, ancient servants, and a godforsaken bloodhound who’s trying to take over Elliott’s bed. What he needs is a bride with a dowry, and Nina has an excellent one. Elliott offers to teach Nina how to attract the Duke, and the more time he spends with her, the more he becomes enchanted with her as a person and not just a dowry. The more time Nina spends with Elliott, the more she begins to see that maybe safe is not what she’s looking for if only she could trust that he loves her. I enjoyed this book and do recommend it and the previous books in the series. Medium Steam. Publishing Date May 26, 2020. #NeverConspireWithASinfulBaron #ReneeAnnMiller #KensingtonBooks #HistoricalRomance #ZebraRomanceNovels #bookstagram #NetGalley

This is the fourth book in the Infamous Lords series. The heroine is the sister of book three’s hero.

Lady Nina’s cantankerous grandmother wants her to gain the favor of a duke in hopes of dispelling some nasty gossip. Lord Elliot Havenford, Baron Ralston, wants Nina for himself and offers to help her gain the pompous duke’s attention in order to get closer to her with seduction lessons. Sharing Nina’s company and her kisses, Elliot realizes she is much more than a pretty face with an attractive dowry.

I really liked this story. Nina thinks she can be happy with a safe, pragmatic marriage, but she’s extremely drawn to Elliot and sees his sweeter, protective side. While Elliott is in a bad financial position, his focus was largely on Nina - not her money. I liked that Elliot was trying to solve his own problems and wasn’t merely a callous fortune hunter. I enjoyed the character development and the building sexual tension between the two.

* I received an ARC and this is my honest review. #NeverConspirewithaSinfulBaron #NetGalley

Never Conspire With a Sinful Baron by Renee Ann Miller is the fourth book in the series called Infamous Lords. I have read one other book in this series, a novella called The Taming of Lord Scrooge. I decided to read the new book, because I did enjoy the novella.

Lady Nina Trent was almost caught by a dubious lord last year, something that is not going to be repeated. She has determined which lord she is going to “catch” when she realizes he isn’t noticing her. Meanwhile Lord Elliot Haverford, Baron Ralston has inherited a dilapidated houses and land. He is going to need a fortune to fix them up. He has his sights on Nina, but she knows he is a rogue and a flirt, so she continually turns him away. Until he offers to help her catch her boring lord provided he can give her lessons on how to catch him… The lessons have more to do with Nina and Elliot falling for each other than helping her catch the other one.

Meanwhile, accidents keep happening and Elliot is almost injured a number of times, but no one knows why or even if it was meant for him. Elliot’s sister has quit school and is working on fixing up the property behind her brother’s back and nothing Elliot says makes a whit of difference.

The characters and the mystery are interesting. Elliot’s sister and Nina finally manage to teach Elliot to move on from the past. Life is moving on - at least if he stops being hit in the head. Elliot and Nina are hot together. Never Conspire With a Sinful Baron by Renee Ann Miller was a good read.

Never Conspire with a Sinful Baron is a book full of love and trust that is presented in a way that will touch your heart. Nina is a loveable heroine and Elliot is her perfect match. It just takes a bit to get them together. I enjoyed the love, respect and trust that developed between them.

Nina is that heroine you respect immediately for choosing the difficult path, for wanting to stand up for herself, but wanting to please family at the same time. She finds the courage to go for what she wants and for what is right, standing up for herself.

Elliot is one of those men whom I could easily fall in love with. He might have been short on funds, but he grew along the way. The real Elliot came out as he grew closer to Nina. I, also, loved that he had a personal code of ethics even while considered a rogue in that he did not mess around with married women. He cared about his sister; and I believe he would have regardless of her ‘accident.’ The little things counted, the servants and dog he ‘inherited’ among them.

Secondary characters such as Elliot’s servants are adorable. His sister Meg is a delightful, young lady, stronger than Elliot gave her credit for at first. Everyone needs a Zeb; his charm speaks for itself.

Although fourth in the Sinful Lords series, this could be a stand-alone romance. Obviously, this is not an original type of plot, but it is adorable and sweet.

He's a cad.

Elliot is Baron Ralston, a farthing-less cad who shamelessly flirts and then moves on to his next conquest. He went shopping in DeBrett's and chose Nina as his bride. She would come with a large dowry to save his insolvent estates and he wouldn't mind bedding her. Oh, and he doesn't believe in love. His family for generations as NOT married for love.

Nina is smitten with a duke, a very safe duke and Elliott proposes he could act interested in her, to make the duke take notice of Nina. But this is a ruse. He's gonna double cross her so she marries him instead (so he can save his properties and launch his sister).

So, who will Nina choose? A mere baron or a duke?
And what will happen when she finds out Elliot's ruse?

Recommend.

4.5 Stars
Last season, Lady Nina Trent fell for a scoundrel. When a duke more interested in fox hunting and sports than womanising comes to town, Nina thinks him the perfect catch as does her grandmother & brother. Sadly, he doesn’t seem to notice her. But Lord Elliot Havenford, Baron Ralston, a notorious flirt, has a proposition: he’ll not only pretend to vie for her hand, hoping to draw forth the duke’s competitive nature, he’ll also give Nina lessons in seduction. An aristocrat in possession of two dilapidated properties must be in want of a fortune. Elliot’s proposition is a subterfuge, for he hopes to capture Nina’s hand—and her dowry—by slyly seducing her himself.
This is the fourth book in the series but it could easily be read on its own even though James, Nina’s brother had his story in the previous book. I loved Elliot from the start, a loveable rogue who was honourable & his word was his bond, hence a house with elderly retainers & a very old bloodhound. I also loved Nina who had had the strength to turn down a proposal from a philandering lord the previous year. The chemistry between the pair was sizzling, I loved how their relationship developed. I also loved Meg & would love for her to have her HEA as there was a very likely contender! I was engrossed in the book & the pages flew by as I read it in a sitting, all be it a long sitting but I was routing for things to go right for Elliot
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

This is book 5 in the Infamous Lord's series. All can be read as a stand alone.
This is the story of Elliot and Nina.
Elliot is a Baron who just inherited a penniless, broken down estste. He needs to marry. He needs to marry a Lady with a large dowry so he can set his properties to rights. When he sets his sights on Nina, it just feels right. She's a friend of his cousin, so he's known her for a while.
Nina has just jilted her cheating fiance. Her reputation has suffered some, so she needs to make an excellent match.
So she focuses on the Duke of Fenimore. He is safe, dull, boring. But his reputation is above reproach.
When Elliot offers to help her gain his attention, she accepts. This means them spending a lot of time together.
You see their relationship grow and know that it's going to be special.
At the same time, Fenimore does start to recognize her. Which man will she choose.
Thru out the story there is a subplot . Who is doing this and why I had figured out right away. It wasn't a great mystery.
Also, and I think this is my only complaint about the book, I felt the story ended suddenly.
One moment Nina and Elliot are fighting and not speaking to each other. The next she's being held at pitchfork by the villian. And the next, they are happily ever after. All in 1 chapter. There was no talking out what they were fighting about. There was no recovering from the trauma of the kidnapping. For this reason I am taking off a star.
⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thank you to Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to review this book.

Nina and Elliot slow burn romance!

Friends, to lovers story with a twist. Well drawn out characters. The story does not feel rushed and a hero who is not afraid to work for his living rather than look for a. Heiress bride.

Elliot, decides to help his friend Nina to hook a Duke to overcome the gossip about her being thwarted after an almost engagement and to curb the vile gossip surrounding her. Elliot has also inherited a debt ridden barony and is using his personal
Funds to restore the home and pay ofc the debts his uncle has left for him along with an old bloodhound. Elliot inspite of his rakish clout is honorable to his friends and family.

And there is villain out there trying to kill him. There is also mean gal Amelia. Ms Miller weaves a nice romantic story with a few twists and turns.

Definitely worth a read. I’m not going to give away the ending. Get the book, cozy up with some hot cocoa and enjoy the read!

As truth always comes out, will his initial deceit weight too much in the balance between love and hate ...

I haven’t read none of the other books in this series but after my first read by Mrs Renee Ann Miller, a Christmas themed novella, I immediately preordered her next release, this book.

And I do not regret it, this book is as funny and lovely as I expected.
Elliot while far from flawless is a sweet man, behind his mask of cynicism, there is a kind and caring man who’s living in a collapsing home with a half-blind valet, a deaf housekeeper and a bed-invader aging bloodhound. He also guilt-trips for his sister’s circumstances, why he even more feels pressured to better his state of affairs.
And what ever his ill-guided plan, I just loved Elliot, he is desperate, nearly destitute so he first acts like most peers, but he also tries to better himself by not merely watching his holdings crumble to the ground, he works to find a solution outside a marriage to a heiress.
So while he enters his game of deceit with Nina, he has too many restraints, second-thoughts plus he is a too good man to really follow his design. So soon he is more in the mood to help her if getting her duke is what she is truly after.

Nina was hurt the season’s before, and as it was common, her failed engagement is seen as defect from her side, never from to-be-fiancé. Why to silent the viper’s tongues she accepts to listen to her grandmother’s advices, whatever good or not they are.
She wants to do safe and dull, so be it the Duke of Fernbridge, a man who will never increase her heartbeats nor make her dream of sensual escapes. And while she is at first retissant to agree to Elliot’s knowledge in capturing someone’s eyes, yet he is more often right than wrong. So she soon finds herself more eager to be in Elliot’s presence than with the Duke. If only he was not this devil-may-care scoundrel.

I just loved this book, Mrs Renee Ann Miller offers a light and sensual read, with quips, witty banters and some humorous scenes. It is also a moving tale displaying how guilt and someone’s failure can reflect on one’s own decisions.
A well deserved 5 stars read as I was unable to put down this book until I reached its very last word. I can only recommend it to any Tessa Dare and Virginia Heath’s lovers.

I have only one complain, the story is set in Victorian era, why a cover with a heroine dressed in a Regency gown.

I was granted an advance copy by the author, here is my true and unbiased opinion.

Elliott Havenford, Baron Ralston, a certified bachelor is in dire straits due to being financially strapped and must marry a very rich wife. Elliott’s friend Adam is attempting to help him find the perfect candidate and finds Lady Nina Trent. Elliott knows of Nina and her brother being the Marquess of Huntington will most likely offer her a sizable dowry. Elliott knows Nina will be easy to get her to marry him and he already likes her. Elliott keeps track of everywhere Nina is and as he gets know her better he can’t help his budding attraction to her. Nina can’t help her feelings for Elliott either even though she has a Duke wanting her hand in marriage too. As Nina and Elliott get closer what will she do when she learns the truth, that Elliott only wants her for her money?
This sweet beautifully written Regency romance is not only humorous but has some difficult times too. The story stays very well on track never straying from the main goal even with everything going on. The characters major and minor are truly lovely and likable. Sure, there are some definite characters that need to stop with their haranguing behavior. Even the Duke seems like he would do something horrid but this never pans out either. Elliott is not a bad guy; he makes mistakes and is attempting to make things better for everyone; while Nina is refreshing without being boring. This is definitely a fun and joyful read that is well worth the read!

This was another well-written (stand-alone) addition to this series. I enjoyed the characters and their interactions with one another. Nina is a clever mix of an innocent woman and a headstrong suffragist in the making. She very clearly knows her own mind, however, I do wish we would have seen more of a backbone when it came to her grandmother's overbearing ways.

Elliot was strong in his own way, a little pig-headed at times, but really he was your typical broke, English Lord. There wasn't really anything that stood out to me that separated him from any of the countless other Heros in other books facing the same circumstances. That could have been part of the reason I didn't enjoy this one as much as I had expected - it was the same as every other book in both the "broke lord needs a wealthy wife" and the "lord promises to help girl capture attention of another man only to fall in love with her" tropes. And while Elliot does manage to stand out in that he goes into business in order to salvage his title and lands, I don't feel as though we really got to see that come to fruition either.

There were some things in the overall story that made it stand out, although not always in a good way. For one thing, there was a lot going on, things that sometimes overshadowed the romance between Nina and Elliot. For instance, there was a scene in which a certain "mean girl" placed her hand upon his chest in the middle of a crowded theater (as he and his brother-in-law were getting refreshments). As this girl had a habit of acting inappropriately, there was really no reason for this exchange to happen aside from causing another rift between Elliot and his brother-in-law. There were other instances as well throughout this book that seemed to contain drama that was altogether unnecessary.

I'm sure these things are things that others will enjoy, however for me, it took away from my overall enjoyment of the romance. However, I did still enjoy this story, and I will read more from this author (especially considering I am hopeful to hear more about how his business venture goes when we get to Talbot's book).

DISCLAIMER: I received a complimentary copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review. This has not affected my review in any way. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are 100% my own.

You should definitely never conspire with a sinful Baron because you will never be able to go back. This series is so good and this book fits right in. Elliot convinces Nina to go along with a plan to make another gentleman jealous but who would have thought it would have backfired, yes everyone raise your hand! Of course it does. It takes a lot in a book for me to laugh out loud and this one, Zeb I am looking at you, definitely had me chuckling out loud. Funny dialog, great characters, a great story all adds up to a wonderful read.

SPOILERS AHEAD! You have been warned… This is the story of Nina and Elliot, a debutante who almost made an awful mistake last year by marrying a man in love with his mistress. The story got off to a bit of a slow start for me, but once I was 50 page or so in, I started to enjoy it more. In short, Elliot offers to teach Nina how to attract the attention of a pampered duke, someone she sees as a “safe” choice for a husband. Elliot does help her gain his attention, but in doing so also draws Nina to him. Elliot is painted as something of a blackguard as he inherited his estates in poor repair with a mountain of debt, and he at first sees marrying Nina, a wealthy heiress, as a means to fixing his financial problems. Of course, they fall in love which makes it hurt when Nina discovers Elliot’s initial reason for being interested in her. The story was enjoyable, although this is a common trope. The side story about Elliot partnering with a friend to buy a tea business should have been more developed to suit my tastes as it starts out seeming like a big deal, but aside from the villain being the spoiled nephew of the man who sells Elliott his tea business, it takes a major backseat in the story. Also, Elliot makes a half-hearted vow to not use Nina’s dowry to fix up his estates, but quickly backtracks and allows it to be used for just that purpose (where was the desire to return her funds on the tea business took off or just waiting in general?). Also, when Nina discovered why he was initially interested in her, the scene feels very off, like it should have had a few more pages dedicated to it, if this was to be a major point of strife in the early days of their marriage. Lastly, this was low steam from my perspective. Elliott is made out to be a rake, a man who every woman wants in her bed, but the sex scenes are rather bland and glossed over. Overall, I would rate this as a 4-star book. I enjoyed the story overall but would have like to see more steam and a few of the storylines expanded. I received an ARC of this book from the publisher for free in return for my honest review.

In this historical romance, Lord Adam Talbot inherits a barony, but alas it's a broke one. He admits he needs to marry for money, but remains particular about who he will marry.
After a bad experience with one rake, Lord Avalon, who believed a pregnant mistress was perfectly acceptable, Lady Nina Trent is looking for a dull respectable match.
Adam has decided Nina is the one, but offers to help her land a Duke to get close to her. In aiding her quest they both realize the other is perfect for them and Nina changes her course. In the meantime someone has it out for Adam and is trying to murder him.
It's the perfect steamy romance with intrigue to pass the time.
I requested and received a NetGalley ARC gratis and offer my opinion in the same vein.

This was a pleasant enough regency romance, but I almost gave up halfway, because I was rather bored and didn't think much of the hero. The story did improve and there were some nice touches, but this wasn't really for me. Sorry.

I recieved a free copy from netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I really liked this book. I have liked this entire series and that was what got me over the initial hurdle. The first couple of chapters felt off but I suppose that was because of the deception that set ever thing in place. Elliott has taken over a decrepit estate after the death of his uncle and now must marry an heiress in order set things right. Quickly the only woman who will do is Nina. Elliott promises to help Nina win a duke while actually making her fall for him instead. I loved that elliott falls for nina and the initial desire for a heiress becomes unimportant. In fact even before he really tries to win Nina, elliott gets involved in trade to restore the estate. I enjoyed this book and look forward to what comes next from this author.

I received an Advance Reader Copy from the publisher via NetGalley. This in no way impacted on my view.

Never Conspire with a Sinful Baron follows Nina as she returns to society following her failed engagement. She's not that upset that the engagement fell apart - he was a scoundrel after all - but she's decided that to protect herself, she should find someone who cares more about the country than going to Town and being seen, and the Duke of Fernbridge, who is searching for a wife, is perfect. Her problem? He doesn't seem to notice her. When old family friend, Elliot Haverford, Baron Ralston, arrives in town, he agrees to help her get Fernbridge's notice, but he also has an ulterior motive. His recently inherited properties have all been left in ruin, and there's little to no money in the pot to repair them. He needs to marry, and marry well, to save his estate, and Nina would be a perfect wife, with a substantial dowry to boot. As Nina is more in Elliot's company, she remember's just how fun he always was, and starts to think that while she didn't want to marry a rake, if it was the right rake - i.e. Elliot - marriage might be the best idea, and Fernbridge's dullness is not the right thing for her.

I loved the romance in this book. Nina and Elliot were perfect together, from their witty banter, to their chemistry, and finally their actual relationship. They fought their attraction, at first, but it was plainly obvious that they were right for each other, even with their reputations at hand. I never saw Fernbridge and Nina working, they were far too unsuitable, and was glad when we saw him being shown to be boorish and dull. Yeah, there's some angst when Nina finds out the Elliot was after her dowry, but it ends up that he doesn't use it to fix up his estate, and all is well. There were some unbelievable aspects of the novel, especially when it seemed as if someone had put a hit out on Elliot, but his and Nina's relationship saved the day. Definitely an enjoyable book, and just what I needed right now.

Elliot Havenford, Baron Ralston, inherited a title from his uncle, debt and property that's draining him dry. His only option is to marry a lady with a substantial dowry. Going through Debrett's Peerage, Elliot makes his choice. Lady Nina Trent is a young lady he already admires, only she's after a Duke. To get close to her, Elliot offers to help her catch her Duke, but Elliot didn't count on falling in love. Elliot is a flirt and very charming. I was definitely on his side. Laughter can definitely win the lady, but there are a few tears. Throw in someone who seriously wants to hurt Elliot and you have even more of an interesting plot. I don't think you'll be disappointed reading this book. A definite winner. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
