The book is so cute and the kitten is adorable. You can't help but feel happy when reading it. It would be an awesome read aloud story.

“Joy” by Yasmeen Ismail is the sweetest book about a little kitten who is full of joy and fun. I love the rhyming format and Ismail’s use of onomatopoeia. This book has a very cute story and I would absolutely recommend it for preschool aged children. This story could also be used to help children who are beginning to read or when introducing onomatopoeia.

A very cute book, with a very simple narrative of a happy kitten.

The happy kitten plays and is happy.

The happy kitten gets hurt, and its mother comforts them, and then they go back to being full of joy again.

The end.

Very simple, very common theme of mothers taking care of their children, but it takes the whole book of a bouncy kitty to get there.

I'm sure some kids will enjoy this story, because the kitten is having so much fun.

This is a very sweet book.  With colorful and emotive illustrations it rhymingly follows a kitten over the course of its day.  There is lots of fun and a setback.  The message is that your parent will be there to pick you up.  This is an engaging book with word play that young children should very much enjoy hearing.

Joy by Yasmeen Ismail is a cute and easy read about a joyful kitten full of energy. This is perfect to enjoy with very young children, especially those who love cats or animals in general.

We have many cats, dogs, and currently we even have kittens, so my 6-year-old especially enjoyed seeing the mom cat in the book care for her little one so lovingly. Even though she can read herself, we enjoyed this one together. The illustrations by Jenni Desmond are simple yet beautiful, and combined with the changing text (which rhymes at times) keeps the book interesting even without much of a story.

The combination of dogs, cats, and kittens is always such a fun dynamic. Kittens truly are little bundles of joy.

Simple and sweet a little kitten gets really joyful and then loses that joy..l only to bounce back and find it again.

I can see this as an intro to a writing prompt for gratitude /joy/ what makes you happy... otherwise it’s not really for the classroom in my opinion.

Definitely for younger kids, pre elementary ideally.

I was looking for a potential book for the youngest, newest member of my family, who is too young to read at three months, but it’s never too young (in my opinion, anyway) to read books to little ones. It is an introduction to the world beyond, and these days who isn’t looking for something outside the walls of our home? Of course, she’s too young to understand why no one has come to visit her, she’s still living inside the bubble of Mommy and Daddy being home, all day, every day.

Her Mom is a cat lover, and they have cats, plural, and a big black dog that they more or less rescued, being told he was a Lab. He’s not, but he is the sweetest dog, and my Halle loves to snuggle up next to him, and he is as gentle with her as he is with the kitties they have. So, I am thinking this will be a good one for her. The illustrations as simple, but sweet, colourful, and show a typical day in the life of a kitten, the mother cat and a big dog that looks a little bit like the one they have. Shared through simple, alternating rhyming segments that change frequently - so parents won’t get tired of reading this too quickly.

It’s also a nice way to introduce the idea that sometimes, families can be made up differently than others, in this case that a dog and a cat and a kitten seemingly make up this “family” since there are no people in this story, but that depends on how you want to interpret this story.

This book is perfect for cat lovers (which I am)! I love the action words and the fun and engagement of this book. The illustrations are super cute too. The text is easy and so engaging that it would be perfect for a baby storytime or storytime in general. I also enjoyed the sweetness of the ending with the Momma Cat and the dog.

Joy is a cute book about a kitten having lots of fun with a string. Hand to kids who love cute kitty stories.

A pretty simple story, told in rhyme, with plenty of lovely sounds to really sound out while reading aloud.

But let's face it, that's not primarily why we're here - the illustrations are almost dangerously cute. I love cats, I've always had cats, and these pictures do the feline race more than justice.

I tried reading the book to my cat, but that didn't do anything, what with him being a cat. Best keep this one for children.

This book is absolutely adorable!!

The illustrations are perfect! They're eye catching and have lots of fun little details like the texture of the kitty's fur.

I think this book would be wonderful for toddlers and even young preschoolers. The rhyming is very fun and I love the use of onomatopoeia. I think the final pages with longer text really take this from just a fun, cute book to one that tells a short, but sweet story of the mama cat taking care of her curious kitten.

Loved the energy and images in this book. Giving it 3 stars for the message--joy does not equal material possessions.

To be perfectly honest, I am not the target demographic for this book. But it was a really cute picture book about a joyous kitten causing messes and mischief. I can definitely see a child picking this up and having fun with it.

Completely adorable and such a ‘joy’ to read, with wonderful messages of love and caring. Beautiful illustrations and great use of language to play with. I mean it’s a kitten as well so this household was in 100% you won us over Joy.

Joy is a joy to read! This will be a perfect storytime read aloud. It contains lots of fun ontomtontopeas that will be fun for call and response. In addition, it's got a nice message about caregiver love.

This is a lovely, cute, well drawn picture book which I think I will be adding to my storytime rotation.

A rather insubstantial little picture book obviously geared for very young children, it concerns a kitten whose rambunctious play gets a little out of control. The book provides a reassuring message to young children that if they get hurt, mother will not be far away to help them up and kiss the hurt away. It’s cute enough, but not a book I’d really care to own.

I'm always on board if a cat is involved, but this is particularly cute for really young children. I was very impressed with the mixed-media illustrations as well. Lovely blend of watercolor and illustration. Great little book!
