This really does take place in one day and it doesn't seem rushed or overdone. What didn't work for me though was Celeste overall. Poor Agnetha had some terrible luck it seems.

Overall the story was good and readable. I read this in one evening and it was a nice distraction.

This is a new author for me. I look forward to more of her books. The characters Agnetha and Celeste are best friends but more like sisters. The girls are visiting in the United States and meet two guys who are roommates and they go to Los Vegas. Athena has a whirlwind romance with Aaron and he proposes. On the day they planned to get married she gets an emergency phone call from home. She has to leave immediately to get their and asks Celeste to find Aaron and give him the message that they will have to postpone the wedding. Celeste doesn't tell Aaron the truth and betrays her friend as she is jealous that she will loose her friend.. Athena is turning 44 and decides to move forward. She is divorced and has raised her daughter's been their for her patents Years earlier her fake best friend has betrayed her again and is now married to Agnetha's Ex-Husband who is starting to see the real "Celeste". As she thinks of the past and wonders of what might have been there is a twist to the story As she thinks of friendship gone wrong, family, love, and hope and what the future will hold. Loved this book. Thank you Net Galley for allowing me to read and review this book.

Agnatha is celebrating her 44th birthday, the first after her mother’s death and the first that she can focus on herself. She’s been raising her twin daughter’s, helping her ill parents for so long that she doesn’t know how to look out for herself.

Agnetha and Celeste were supposed to be best friends and stick together forever. And they did... until Celeste had an affair with, and later married Mitch, Agnetha’s now ex-husband.

This story alternates between the ladies’ friendship in the past, and Agnetha’s 44th birthday, present day. A day full of break-ups, make ups, reunions, and second chance romances.

I liked the story, and felt much of it was predictable, but i was still engaged to see how things would unfold and how the characters were connected. I really loved how relatable Agnetha was - a loving, devoted daughter and mother trying to figure out life now that she can focus on herself.

I felt the big reveals at the end were too rushed and it all happened at once - too much at one time, which ruined my momentum.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

What a wonderful story...this summer's beach read for sure.
Agnetha and Celeste are best friends, but have always been more like sisters. They shared a love of adventure and liked to travel around and experience life in a carefree way. But life has a way of throwing surprises, and Agnetha gets the biggest surprise of all when they go to Vegas and she meets and falls head over heels for Aaron. They have a romantic, whirlwind relationship and they are ready to get married when life gets in the way. Circumstances beyond their control call Agnetha home but the events that unfold after she leaves will alter the lives of many people. Agnetha goes on to marry someone else, but Celeste is always there. Jealous of her best friend and always wanting the life Agnetha lives.
This book tells a beautiful story of love, betrayal, friendship, and most importantly second chances. I loved the characters and the story flowed so easily from past to present.

OMG I am happy crying as I write this review!!!!!!!!!!!! This book is amazing!!!! It has amazing characters that you fall in love with, laugh with, cheer with. I love Agnetha, our main character, she is a fearless woman who has lived a great life. Even though she had a very shitty soul-less best friend. Thank God she figured that one out though.

Agnetha is a woman who has had a lot of loss in her life but she stayed the upbeat, fun loving girl she always was. She found her great love in her twenties but family circumstances and a soul-less best friend messed that up for her. Then yrs later she met the man she will marry and have twin daughters with. They had a good life until her parents failing health and life took it's toll on their marriage. In stepped her soul less best friend to help fuck that up though. Through all of that she kept her up beat life and was content until her forty fifth birthday when she decided to start taking care of herself. Thank you to Netgalley & Boldwood Books for my early review copy

I love this author’s books so was excited to read this one. The cover looks absolutely fabulous, so bright and colourful and you just can’t help but be drawn to it. We initially meet Agnetha McAster, just before her 45th birthday. She’s looking forward to finally having some ‘me’ time, her daughters are grown up and she’s planning her relationship with her new man! We are also introduced to her ex-husband, Mitchell, who is now married to her ex-best friend, Celeste! The final main storyline is given from Hope McTeer’s point of view. Hope is adopted and after doing a DNA test is waiting to meet her biological father. Whilst there is a lot of characters already (and there are more to come!), it doesn’t get complicated at all and the storyline effortlessly moves between the different characters. If you do need a little bit of a reminder though, there is a handy list of characters at the front of the book!

Each of the chapters are told from different characters perspectives. It also switches back and forth in time to 1997 when Agnetha and Celeste were younger and travelling around America. I loved all the characters, with the exception of Celeste and you will understand why when you read it! As with previous books written by this author, the story takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions, predominantly through Hope and Agnetha’s stories, leaving you pondering as the book moves on how it is all going to end. I have to admit though, I didn’t guess where the story was going until the twist came!! I loved how each character’s story began initially as a single story, but then slowly they all became entwinned with each other.

This is definitely a story full of emotion, but also coupled with some light-hearted moments. The characters are likeable, the story is easy to read and it will most certainly have you hooked by the end of the first few chapters. With family relationships and friendships, this will teach you how to find love again, forgive others and move on! The ending was perfect, wrapping all the loose ends up nicely and leaving me with that feel-good feeling!! Would definitely recommend!!

One Day in Summer by Shari Lowe a fantastic four-star read. This was so close to being a five-star read but just missed it by a shade, the first third of the book took a while to get into but then once I did I couldn’t put it down. Agg’s was amazing, she just keeps ploughing on no matter what is thrown at her. This is a great story and it has some amazing characters, they will absorb you into the story and just keep you reading and hooked on this great story that will help you while away a few hours just getting some great enjoyment.

Shari Lowe always writes beautifully well-thought-out books, this is no exception. The characters in this book are well rounded. I loved Agnetha, the main character and found myself really rooting for her. Other characters are also likeable (or very much not so!) and the storyline was just paced enough to keep me from putting the book down. I liked the way it all came together in the end and finished it feeling satisfied and sad to leave the characters behind. Definitely recommend!
Thank you to netgalley, the publishers and the author for providing me with this arc in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

A great read from Shari Low. One Day in Summer explores the relationships between best friends, boyfriends, husbands, and children. Great character development, and enough twists to keep me reading to find out what happens next!

Thanks to the publishers and Netgalley for an early review copy.

Took me a while to get into it, I just wasn't "feeling it" so I stopped reading it and read another book.
When I re-read it for the 2nd time, for whatever reason, I didn't want it to end.
I loved the story of this book and thought if was brilliant how the author tied everything together in the end.

I would re-read this book now given the opportunity. I LOVED it! The twists and turns of Aggs and Celeste friendship and the interconnections between they and Mitchell and Aaron made me laugh and cry simultaneously. Life is meant to be lived and on her birthday, Aggs chose to do just that and strike away anything that had prevented her from doing so. She reclaimed what defined her. Her daughters as well as Hope and Maisie as well.as Hope's illness reiterated the need to celebrate life at all moments. Love prevails.

Absolutely loved it.
Shari Low your books get better and better. I am torn between wanting to finish the book and find out whats happened, and savouring so that it lasts longer. I compromised, read quickly and then re-read at a slower pace.
With each chapter told from alternating viewpoints and time frame, it was easy to bond with the characters and to understand their dilemmas and decisions. As the title suggests , the events take place in Glasgow over one day, Agnatha McMasters 45th birthday, with flashbacks to her birthday and events in 1997.
I am not going to give away any of the plot as the little twists and subtle turns are a joy to read, except to sat it was lovely to bump into Val again.
You know its a good book when you want to stay with the characters to see where the next stage of their lives lead them

This book took me a while to get into it. I set it down, I just wasn't "feeling it" so I stopped, read something else then started this one again and I am glad I gave it a 2nd chance. For whatever reason, this grabbed me the 2nd try and I didn't want it to end. I loved the format of this book and thought the author was brilliant how she tied everything together in the end. I really enjoyed One Day In Summer. It's a great summer read but there are a lot of characters to keep track of. It took me a little longer to read this story because I had to keep going back and reading the character I was reading about. The story is interesting and all the characters serve a purpose but was a little confusing at times. Overall, One Day In Summer is a great read!

This is another excellent book by Shari Low. The story revolves around Agnetha who is celebrating her 45th birthday; ex-husband Mitchell who thinks his marriage to Agnetha’s former best friend Celeste is in trouble; and Hope who is seeking her biological parents. By the end of the day, their lives will have been blown apart by the secrets and lies that are revealed.

Brilliant book. Great characters. A fun filled entertaining story which is well worth reading.

What a pleasure it was to read this book by Shari Low. Fast paced yet so easy to read, I couldn't put it down. I loved discovering how all of the characters were linked and the ending for me was perfect. Definitely a solid 5/5 feel good summer read.

Agnetha McMaster – Aggs, was the daring young woman who lived life at full throttle in her early 20’s, but marriage, children, divorce, aging parents and subsequent deaths had all taken a toll on the woman and had reduced her to living her life to make others happy and ignore her own needs and wants. But all this is going to change over the course of one day in which all the missing pieces of her life are going to fall (or better described as crashing) into place and mysteries of the past will be explained and set to right. There is a large cast of characters to keep track of, but all play such an important part in how Agg’s life unfurls that it never seems overwhelming or burdensome.

Sold has romance or women’s fiction, it never really focuses solely on a romantic theme for the pivotal character Aggs, rather it also looks at the search undertaken of a second character Holly, a young woman searching for her birth parents because of serious health issues which are superimposed onto Aggs life in a vibrant manner. Both Holly and Agg’s life are connected in ways that defy belief. Also connected to this story is Aggs ex-husband Mitchell, who had an affair with and married Aggs former best friend Celeste, whom he now suspects is having another affair, this time breaking her vows of commitment to him. It becomes an intertwined story of three people that at times veers into the vaguely incestuous manner although to be clear, there is no incest involved in this story. All three people start the novel being unique and separate and end the day wrapped together clearly in a manner that will leave an indelible stain on each other.

It’s a fun read, never snobbishly intellectually taxing, yet absorbing and purely entertaining. It looks at the power of deception and trust, friendship, commitment and of truth and its effects on an individual's lives. There are funny moments and other moments that will leave the reader agog at revelations and just when you think you have unravelled a mystery, a red herring is discovered and the search continues. In its style, it reminds me of the novel One Day, which we are taken through history to discover the here and now.

Definitely worth the time to read.

A lovely emotional book about the lives of three different women and how they're linked by the past. Loved all of the characters apart from the rather unpleasant Celeste. Beautiful, emotional and an examination on the power of forgiveness.
