‘I can only tell you for certain, there is only room in your heart for one God no matter what size your pants are’. While this quote appears at the end of the book, I feel it embodies the message of the book. I enjoyed this book that looked at wellness from an inside out approach using scripture, stories and wisdom gained. The author challenges us the reader to live our Plan A, which is living in the freedom that is ours in Christ; instead of living a Plan B, which involves us coming up with our own plan and adding to Jesus. I personally recommend this book for all women as this is a wholistic view of wellness.

This is a heartfelt book by the author emphasizing to each of us that we are indeed “good enough”, even when we don’t feel like it. God loves us as we are.

This seems to be a continual theme for Christian women today – “I’m not good enough”!

I understand and have felt the same way at times, however, I felt this book was very repetitive, and although I related to the things she wrote about, I found it very hard to read due to basically saying the same thing continually.

So many struggle with weight issues Or body imagine in some form. The author takes you on a journey that helps awaken the heart and open it to hope and healing. I would recommend this to all women because of the healing that could even be applied in other areas of life that could be gained by walking this journey with the author. It has opened my eyes to areas I need to refocus my attention. I am grateful for how she has brought scripture in to be applied as you read this book.
I will be going through it again as I walk a journey that is ahead of me in my life now.
Thanks to the author for this tool.

Well Girl is a book that I think we all can gain some insight from. How many of us suffer from the “I’m not good enough” syndrome? The pressures of being thinner or prettier? Trying to live up to the images in magazines and television? Well Girl………. Jami Amerine has the answer and it is not found in a magazine. It is found in your soul! God tells us over and over how we are made perfect in His image, how we are loved and cherished, but do we believe Him? How could He love us with our imperfections and those extra pounds? He does friends and in this book, you will go on a journey of self discovery and transformation.

Jami Amerine is real, she is raw, and she is honest. Her journey will bring you to tears, and it will also make you giggle. With a touch of sass, you cannot help but fall in love with her and her story. She is someone who is there right along with you. She is a breath of fresh air and insightful.

Thank you so much to the author Jami Amerine, Barbour Publishing and NetGalley for an advanced copy of the book to review. It was fabulous! All opinions expressed for this review are unbiased and entirely my own.

Now just shy of my 50's, I have struggled with body image issues since my teen years. I've done all the diets, read all the books, repeated all the mental mantras. What I have learned along the way is that my contentment with who I am is tied entirely to who God says I am. And Jami Amerline gets it and reminds us of that on every page that she's struggled with the same issues. She is real, relatable and funny, but most important is that she leads with Christ and explains how the key is to have him at the center of our identity.

Wow. This gal has an attitude. She wants readers to be who God created us to be, irrespective of size and shape. We belong to Jesus and there is no one to accuse us, to shame us.

Amerine is honest about her own experiences. She's blunt on a number of subjects. She freely shares her opinions. She doesn't hide the scars and encourages us not to hide them too.

This is a book about being well, spiritually and physically. Amerine shares her struggles with weight, appearance, and exercise but also shares the freedom she has found in her relationship with Jesus. The bottom line she calls Beloved Living: Seek Jesus in all things, discern thoughts about ourselves and where they come from, and make peace with ourselves including who we are in Jesus.

My favorite chapter was the one on creativity. Amerine found that her painting and writing allowed her joy to come out. She was no longer trying to stuff down feelings or trying to make herself feel better with food.

And speaking of food, Amerine encourages us to get in tune with our Creator. She prays about it all, from food to medications to exercise. What freedom we can find when we listen to the One who designed us.

This is a good book for women who want to get off the diet and exercise treadmill and get on the path of living in relationship with Jesus, letting Him guide your lives. You'll be entertained with great stories and an honest writing style that is a breath of fresh air. And you'll be encouraged to pursue “the grand adventure He intended just for you.” (115)

I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.

I grew up in a diet culture. In the age where it seemed good to encourage young girls to lose weight, even when it wasn't really necessary. I learned from an early age what problems with food looked like as I would hoard food, and developed a really unhealthy relationship with food. This has caused me to spend years in on again off again relationships with weight loss programs, workout programs, and diets of all kinds. Nothing has stuck. Nothing has given me full freedom.

Well, Girl offered me a new way to approach things. Amerine comes alongside you in the journey, not from a place of "I've already arrived," but rather with the "me too" mindset. While she may be a little further on the journey, she lovingly shares the wrong thinking she had fallen into. And she reminds you of your Heavenly Father who loves you right where you are and wants to guide you on a new journey towards loving yourself.

This is not a "how to" book. It's a road map for a journey. A journey that can change your life if you let it. Through personal stories, scripture and honest truth, Amerine reminds us that there is more to life then what the culture says we need to look like and be like.

Well, Girl is an invitation into freedom.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a free digital ARC of this book. I am a huge fan of Jami Amerine. I have read all of her books. Each book has brought a new light to women's issues such as motherhood, faith, and body image. Well, Girl is not a diet book, it is a book about being "well", being "whole". Whether you are overweight or have a perfect BMI, you will gain wisdom about being "well" from this book. Jami gives great advice from her personal experiences and selected scripture. As with all of her books, you will laugh and cry. She usually starts each chapter with a personal experience and then gives you wisdom from God's word and some practical tips at the end of the chapter. Above all, this is not a "diet book" or another rule to follow. Jami really encourages the reader to listen to the guidance of the Holy Spirit in every decision, even what you eat or how you exercise.

In "Well, Girl: An Inside-Out Journey to Wellness," Jami Amerine invites us to join her on a vulnerable journey to start living as loved and valuable, exactly as we are. Jami candidly shares her struggles and successes to encourage us to find our wholeness in Jesus. This book is a fresh approach to tackling an age-old conflict of battling weight gain and subsequent feelings of insecurity.

God never asks us to write anything without walking us through it first. Reading this book will change your life forever, because of who you are in Jesus. Jami's words will break you out of your shell into freedom , to understand yourself as you truly are. Understanding your inner feelings will free your outer self. In this book, Jami unravels her true self along with her readers.

Jami analyzes the heart of a woman to find out how to set her free to be her real self, fully convinced that the inside frees the outside. This book is about the struggle we all face as seekers of Christ as Jami seeks to find out the greatest barrier to true freedom. Jami knows that Jesus is the answer to all our problems, absolutely certain that only He can set us free to tread the path to perfect health, wellness and fitness.

Jami explains that we must surrender a lifelong struggle to God and ask Him to guide us to the next step. As we humble ourselves before God, we are set free and liberated. To know God, we must need Him. Our God is more than enough. He is everything to us. Ask Jesus how to achieve your God-given dreams. Wait for His answer, which will surely come, in His time. I encourage you to read this inspiring book to set you on the path to true living, as God intends for you. Happy reading!

While there is an abundance of kindness and good advice for Christian women, this book doesn't stand out in the crowd.

This just didn’t stand out from the other loads of Christian women’s self help books out there. There were stories mixed with bible verses, but nothing resonated with me.
