Sailing at Sunset by Cindi Madsen was okay.

I liked the overall concept of love and sailing. It was a perfect setting for summer. This was my favourite part of the book.

I enjoyed the character of Josh. While he was guarded, I just found him so lovable. Danae, however, was on my nerves the whole time. Even when she started to loosen up I had a hard time rooting for her. I also think I would have enjoyed the book more without the ex boyfriend. He grew on me, but I felt it took away from the romance between Josh and Danae.

I usually love and devour Madsen's books. While I did not mind reading it, and I loved the setting, the characters just fell a little short for me.

I received an eARC from Hallmark Publishing through NetGalley. All opinions are 100% my own.

Do opposites really attract? Well, in Sailing at Sunset, Cindi Madsen proves that two vastly different ships sailing in the night really can meet and fall in love. Meet Josh, an easy going, laid back man, who owns his own sailing ship named Solitude. He also leads chartered boat rides for rich clients. Then we have super organized Danae who just recently received a Chief Marketing Officer interim position at Barton Boats. In order to demonstrate that she is worthy of the job, she needs to prove that she can bring her coworkers together to create a successful marketing plan on a week long team bonding boat ride. Right away Josh and Danae clash over the best way to build her team. However, as the week goes on, Danae and Josh find themselves changing in unexpected ways.

I found this book to be a light and easy read. I wasn't quite sure if the situation that the two main characters found themselves in could really happen. Do companies really send their whole office of workers off on week long all expense trips to help them team build and work on marketing plans? I work in a different field of work where that definitely would not happen, so it was hard for me to put myself into the book and believe that this kind of romance could have happened. Although I did enjoy going along with the team's sightseeing excursions and living vicariously thorough their experiences. I'm not always a fan of opposites attract romances because I don't know how much they really work out in real life. However, the author certainly shows that Josh and Danae's romance has potential. I received a copy of this book from the publisher and NetGalley. All thoughts expressed are my honest opinions of the book.

A romance on the water
Best-selling Cindi Madsen Presents "Sailing at Sunset. A feel-good romance from Hallmark Publishing". Danae wants to be the new Chief Marketing Officer of the Barton Boating Company in Newport, Rhode Island, but she only gets the job as an interim position until she can proof that she is a team player during an eight-day chartered cruise. Trying to control became her coping mechanism after she lost her dad and this is an issue she has to deal with. Where she is organized to the extreme Josh Wheeler likes to live on his boat and doesn't care for routines and responsibilities. And he is responsible for the cruise! Their opposite characters make for an interesting cruise which is furthermore influenced by the members of Danae's team. This brings plenty of challenges and Danae has serious struggles with Josh's laid back approach to everything. Will they discover common ground or will they go their separate way at the end of the trip?
I really liked Cindi Madsen's book for her great and believable main and secondary characters who were far from perfect. It is a clean romance that I recommend for lovers of such books and for readers of novels which are published by Hallmark Publishing. As a special treat this novel includes the recipe for Crunchy Salmon Cakes, another of the special Hallmark recipes.

This is the perfect example of an entertaining summer story, and just right for those times you want something light and fun to read. No surprises here as far as it being a sweet romantic story—-it’s what we love best from Hallmark.

Sailing at Sunset by Cindi Madsen is a sweet romance in the Hallmark category.

I loved Danae and her quirkiness. Her planner obsession and gold stars were hilarious. And motivated me to start adding some fun to my planner.

Of course opposites attract and this is what happens when Danae is forced to plan a week on the boat with Captain Josh and her team mates. Josh is carefree and ignores the Final Final agenda that she sends. He had a great way of tweaking her plans to be a little more spontaneous. However I think she gets him back in the Yoga class. Haha

Working in a corporate environment I could sympathize with Danae and her desire to get the team to work together.
Note – I read a review where a reader flipped out about the gay couple. Let me clarify for you that there are no scenes with them that made me uncomfortable. In addition, they are only in a scene together once or twice.

Danae has finally landed her dream job as the chief marketing officer for Barton Boats. There’s just one catch, to keep that title she must rally her team to work together and Mr Barton says there is no better place than on a ship. So Danae finds herself on an 8 day cruise aboard a Barton sailboat helmed by Captain Josh. Josh is fly by the seat of his pants and Danae plans out every minute. What could possibly go wrong...or right?

I love and adore @hallmarkchannel movies so when they introduced books, I was THRILLED. This book did not disappoint. It was sweet and wonderful and everything I love about hallmark. The “B” characters were quirky and fun. I highly recommend this book!

Super enjoyed it . Clean fun romance.
Like most her books the main characters have their quirks but are very lovable and relatable.

danae is maybe wound a little bit tight. she conditionally got the promotion she'd been angling for, she's leading a boat tour-slash-teambuilding exercise with her colleagues for a week, and the captain of the ship isn't responding to her emails.
to be fair to josh, danae sends a lot of emails. but he did the whole corporate world thing and the whole marriage and divorce thing and now wants to spend his days on the open sea.

he doesn't expect to connect with the inflexible woman who's been hounding him with final updates to their cruise schedule. but when she lets down her guard, danae is warm and charming. when he gets her to slow down she can appreciate that there is beauty and peace in not always striving. and josh learns that not all commitment is a bad thing, and there is something to be said about tying yourself to the person who sparks joy every time you see them.

sailing at sunset is a lovely, sweet romance.

In Sailing at Sunset we've got an amazing opposites-attract setup, with a boat as the backdrop! And as Danae and Josh embark on the sailing tour we get to see them slowly fall for each other!

Danae has just got the promotion that she's been aiming for, but to cement her position she and her co-workers need to come up with a marketing plan that they all agree on! And her boss suggests a sailing tour for a work+bonding experience!

Danae loves being organised and in control! But when she meets the captain Josh, sparks fly(literally)!

Josh has left behind the corporate world and the planned out life, for the chance to be independent and live life freely! It doesn't take long for them to start butting heads, but when they both start to see each other beyond their first impressions they discover that it's good to have your world shaken up once in a while!

I loved these two and the slow development of their relationship! The chemistry between them was amazing and with the scenic New England towns as a backdrop this was the perfect book to relax with and read during the weekend! If you're looking for a cute summer read to relax with, I'd definitely suggest giving this one a try! Cindi Madsen's writing is amazing!

Sailing at Sunset is a delightful Hallmark Publishing romance.

Danae Danvers is being promoted to Chief Marketing Officer for Barton Boating Company. But there is a catch. She must pull her team to work together before her promotion is final. A week on one of their magnificent sailboats should prove her team leadership.

Josh Wheeler spent a lifetime climbing the corporate ladder. Only to lose at his marriage and planned out life. He leaves it all behind to sail in his renovated sailboat "Solitude".

Danae and Josh couldn't be more different. She lives her life by her organized planner, and he by the winds of the sails. Having been burned in the past, they each have no desire to get into the dating game. Yet they are drawn together during this retreat week.

Cindi Madsen has written a good clean contemporary romance. A great read for those who enjoy Hallmark movies.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from Hallmark Publishing and NetGalley. All views expressed are my honest opinion.

A cute, fluffy romance about second chances at love. I want to read Cindi's next love stories.

Josh and Danae couldn’t be more opposite if they tried. He’s laid back and she’s high strung. He goes with the wind; she lives by timelines and lists. When Josh is hired to run the charter for Danae’s team building excursion, to say the two bump heads is an understatement. Having once been in the throes of Corporate American, Josh can sympathize with Danae’s need for control and perfection. Having grown with a parent who didn’t plan for unexpected and being forced to grown up too soon, Danae isn’t a fan of Josh’s lackadaisical outlook.
I had a hard time staying connected to this book. I didn’t connect with Danae at all. She was given this temporary promotion and in order to keep it she needed to convince her boss that she’s not only up for the task he’s thrown at her, but she can be flexible, and flexibility is not one of her strong points. Knowing this she was still so resistant to anything that did not follow the timeline she set in place. She was just so rigid. I felt like everyone in the group tried to adjust except her. By the time she’d reached the point where she was starting to loosen up, I’d kind of written her off. I think my inability to connect might have had something to do with the sailing, something about it just didn’t appeal to me.
I typically like this author’s books and I’m completely enjoying her Getting Hitched in Dixie and other Series, but this book fell flat for me.

Danae is a planner, she likes order, itineraries are ideal for her. She gets a promotion at work and sent on a work bonding trip on a boat where her coworkers must agree on a marketing plan.

Josh the captain is way more laid back, he vowed to live his life not found by traditional responsibilities and plans. Over the course of the week their viewpoints are challenged and a relationship is slowly forming.

Very cute Hallmark Romance. Thank you NetGalley for this ARC.

When a controlling, type A personality VP of Marketing takes her team on a boating excursion to firm up their 5 year business plan meets a carefree boat captain, sparks fly. I found it slow reading until the last 1/3 , which affected my rating. It's the perfect Hallmark story and would transfer well as a movie, but the character relationship between Dense and Josh dragged.

Overall though a good story with descriptions of Cape and RI landmarks spot on. Fun to read for me as I grew up on the Cape . I would say 3.5 stars.

I received a free ARC eBook from Net Galley and the publisher in exchange for my honest opinions.
