Bizarre circumstances surround robberies around the city and now a seemingly crazed hostage-taker leads SWAT alpha werewolf, Diego Martinez, into an unforgettable encounter. Another action-packed, romantic installment in a favorite series.
Review

Wolf Untamed is the eleventh installment in the SWAT (Special Wolf Alpha Team) paranormal romantic suspense series. It will work standalone in a pinch, but the group dynamics and background to the book’s world are built in previous books.

Diego, like his SWAT teammates, is baffled by seemingly ordinary Dallas citizens snapping and becoming armed robbers. Is there a new drug getting to them? His latest call takes him into a hostage situation as the team’s hostage negotiator. He gets inside with the gunman and discovers that things are even more complicated because one of the hostages is a newly turned beta werewolf who is struggling to hide his glowing eyes, fangs, and claws let alone a volatile emotional surge.
Afterward, he found himself reluctant to part from the boy and his mother and chooses to involve himself in helping the new werewolf as well as get to know his gorgeous, smart mother better. She may be The One, but her possessive, controlling ex means Diego has to be extra careful and slow.

Bree Harlow doesn’t know if her son is into drugs or gangs, but his refusal to talk to her has her worried after everything else her ex put them through even after he went to prison for killing a guy in anger. He continues to stalk them and won’t take her refusal to be a family again as a final answer. But, then she learns the truth of her son’s issues all in the same day they are rescued by a big, heroic police officer who she most definitely wants to go on a date with and maybe more, but then he totally melted her heart when he takes her son under his wing and has no issues with the package deal. Between investigating her big insurance fraud robbery cases and welcoming Diego into their lives, her life has just gotten pretty exciting.

Wolf Untamed was a good balance of suspense and romance with not just the paranormal element from the werewolves involved, but something hinky going on with their latest string of connected cases. I really loved this one for the sensual, but adorable romance between Diego and Bree, the time spent on helping Brandon work through more than beginner werewolf troubles, and the intriguing suspense and action. The case had some good twists and an interesting paranormal element came to light.

I love how these books are written in a way that is easy and quick in reading, but layered with good character, romance, and suspenseful plot development. Sometimes you want all the colorful, sensual, tension-wrought pages without a book tiring you out and that is the beauty of this author’s writing. There is plenty of conflict with mostly external, but sometimes a struggle in a character or in the romance, but there is a maturity in how her characters handle any and all of it. Her heroines are brave and gutsy alongside the heroes, but not stupid or dangerously impulsive. It is obvious that she writes with knowledge about the ins and outs of law enforcement when it comes to the characters and situations. Just an all-around steady, strong story, but also sizzling with chemistry and taunt with exciting moments.

I am not sure who gets their story next, but I’m curious what Trey will have to owe the medical examiner as their favor called in and what comes of Mike and the police chief.

All in all, this was a real page-turner that left me with a silly, happy smile after an entertaining read. Those who enjoy romantic suspense mixed with a strong dose of paranormal should give this book/series a go.

This is book 11 the SWAT series and while it could be read as a standalone, I would recommend reading the previous books before reading this one. Not only does it explain things that are mentioned in this book but it also gives a lot of backstory that you might also wonder about. In this one we get Diego Martinez and Bree Harlow's story. Diego and his team are called out to another crime scene where he meet's not only newly turned Brandon, but his mother Bree as well. He knows he has to not only teach Brandon about his new life. Bree knew something was wrong with her son ever since he was shot. She just couldn't figure out what it was. And being a werewolf was definitely not on her list of things that it could be. But now his investigation is converging with Bree and her son, and he has to try to not only solve it but keep them safe as well.

I really like this one. Bree is the type of woman who you always want to be a mom. She will do anything for her son, and I mean anything. Diego is definitely the alpha, protective male but he has a heart of gold. Especially with those he considers a part of his family. On a whole I definitely liked most of it. There is lots of action and suspense, and the characters had a chance to actually get to know each other before they just fell into bed with each other. But there is a twist to it that I didn't quite understand and I am still kinda scratching my head over it. I think it's so that it can take the series in a new direction but honestly, I am just not sure. Either way, I know I will be impatiently waiting for the next one!

Wolf Untamed
SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team Series - Book 11
By Paige Tyler

Sourcebooks Casablanca - November 2020

Paranormal Romance

Bree Harlow knew something was up with her son, but any thoughts regarding issues he might be dealing with at school evaporated when a man walked into the diner and shot cops. Luckily, they had escaped. Apparently even luckier, their hero was a man who knew exactly what Brandon was dealing with, and had answers to all the questions they might have, and a pack to help Brandon deal with his new reality.

The scene wasn't anything Diego Martinez could have expected. Sure, as a SWAT negotiator, they trained for anything, and a man who seemed to be fighting with himself while ranting about monsters was unusual. But so was the fact that Diego was a werewolf, and he recognized a young teenaged beta werewolf in the diner. Thankfully, the situation resolved without any innocents dying, but Diego knew his job wasn't over. He was going to help the boy and his mother, and not just with Brandon’s new werewolf life. Bree's ex-husband was making a nuisance of himself.

There was also a string of new strange crimes just like the one at the diner where the perpetrators didn’t have any previous criminal-type behaviors. Rumors attributed the bizarre behavior to a new drug, but Diego and his teammates knew that this could also be due to something even more sinister, and paranormal.

Wolf Untamed was a fun, fast-paced romance with a hero who had literally rescued his heroine. I loved the pace of the romance, with both Diego and Bree conscious of how their relationship would affect Brandon, especially considering the werewolf aspect. I adored Diego's determination to help Brandon, who is a beta werewolf, find his alpha. Diego is certain that it can’t be him. The twist was fascinating, and I look forward to more SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team stories.

Wolf Untamed (SWAT Book 11) by Paige Tyler
This is book 11 of 12 and I have loved them all. This book is Diego, Bree and Brandon's story. All our old friends are back (but this book can be read as a stand-alone but I suggest you read them all). This book has everything, angst, danger, laughter, tears, fear, evil, heroes, love and plenty of steam ... all getting us to a very HEA. If there is only one book left ... I want to find out Kat's story.
Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Action-packed Easy-to-read Entertaining Funny Great world building Happily Ever After Page-turner Romantic Scary Steamy Tear-jerker Twisted Unpredictable Wonderful characters

Eleven books in and Paige Tyler has not lost the magic with the SWAT series! There’s a character for every reader and then some!

SWAT member Diego finally gets his own book! Diego can read hostile situations better than his teammates and he has a knack for being able to talk down most of the dangerous people he comes across. It is what makes him essential as the team’s negotiator. And it is how he meets Bree and her teenage son.

Diego and Bree made such a good couple, I loved how grounded both characters were and how both were naturally nurturing and caring of each other and of Brandon who happens to be a werewolf. Having Diego help Brandon transition into his new life as a beta all while he was falling for Bree and helping his SWAT team deal with an increasing number of calls for help kept the book at a brisk, intense, and interesting pace. There’s a buildup to something bigger in the plot and I’m excited to see where this new threat takes these characters and the series.

Wolf Untamed is the first SWAT book to have the influence of the spin off STAT series woven throughout it and it made a difference. The influence is subtle but it’s there and I like the fact that there could be cross overs and team ups in either series. Without spoiling anything I will say that the shocking discoveries made a few books back has opened up the SWAT team’s world to a whole new realm of possibilities and threats. And potential mates. It will be interesting to see if any of the remaining SWAT members gets paired up with an unusual mate.

All in all I would say that Wolf Untamed keeps longtime fans interested while getting new fans excited for what’s to come. Can the book be read as a standalone? Sure. But this series deserves to be read from the beginning and in order for maximum enjoyment.

Wolf Untamed is the eleventh book in the SWAT series by Paige Tyler. It delves deeper into new faces in the SWAT team and fleshes out the intragroup dynamics by highlighting the new characters. While some of the favorite characters from the SWAT team do make cameos in this book, the focus is on illuminating the backstories and focusing on the character development of the lead characters, Wolf shifter and SWAT Officer Diego Martinez and the lovely Bree.

This book introduces the lovely Bree, who is the mother of a young injured werewolf and an insurance investigator. Her case converges with the SWAT team’s case which makes things interesting.

Wolf shifter and SWAT Officer Diego Martinez is a highly powerful lycanthrope who is an integral part of Gage Dixon's Dallas SWAT unit. After seeing the others of his pack find their soul mates and fall in love, he too wants to find his one while protecting the city from threats old and new. He will do whatever it takes to keep the city safe and help Bree’s son understand what it means to be a werewolf.

Together, Diego and Bree work to solve their intertwined cases while becoming increasingly attracted to each other. This book does justice to its name and is truly spellbinding. Paige Tyler’s expansion of her werewolf mythos has given ‘Wolf Untamed’ more nuance and depth while melding humor with paranormal suspense. Her characters have such depth that you just can't help rooting for them.

Wolf Untamed in the eleventh book in Paige Tyler’s SWAT (SpecialWolf Alpha Team) series. This book is a romantic suspense novel filled with danger, intrigue, fantastic characters, great chemistry and heart-melting romance.

A hostage situation at a local diner, brings SWAT werewolf Diego Martinez and Bree Harlow together. The instant connection between Diego and Bree was evident from the start and the pull he felt towards her teenage son Brandon, a newly turned werewolf, called to his wolf. As an unexplainable wave of violence has hit the area, it seems that Diego, Bree and Brandon are caught in the middle. Will Diego and his SWAT team be able to protect the family he’s come to think of as his own? Read it and find out!

I truly enjoyed reading Diego and Bree’s story. They were fantastic together and I loved how easily Diego accepted Brandon into his life. I can’t wait for the next book in the series. All the books in this series contain a happily ever after and can be read as a standalone, however, reading it in order will give you a better appreciation for the characters and the series itself.

We start before Diego is turned into an alpha wolf shifter. He’s a cop, and a good one, he’s on a routine patrol when it all goes horribly wrong.....

Diego is a great character, kind, alpha to the core and a really good guy. He’s still a cop, but he works for a SWAT team now. It’s a group of mainly wolf shifters (Special Wolf Alpha Team SWAT) and they deal with trying to contain anything supernatural.

Bree is an insurance investigator, she enjoys her job, it gives her the freedom to be herself after divorcing a controlling husband, she’s also a mom with a teenage son, but they are drifting apart, and it’s breaking her heart, she just can’t seem to connect with Brandon anymore. She thinks he’s getting in with the wrong crowd!! She's worried she’s going to lose him! Where did her baby boy go?

Diego and Bree meet when Bree and Brandon are held hostage with other members of the public in a diner. Diego is a negotiator, he goes in to negotiate with the gunmen and is stunned to smell a young beta wolf, but more than that, he smells something that gets his wolf excited!

Diego is concerned that neither Brandon or Bree are aware that’s he’s a wolf shifter, but he needs to take care of the situation they are in before telling Brandon he will turn into a wolf! And that’s a different enigma, the scene feels wrong, the gunmen seem to be fighting themselves and going from calm to raging! And when it all goes mad, Diego is fighting for his life and all those in the diner!

Both Brandon and Bree take the news fairly well that Brandon has a wolf inside him (in fact I got the impression that Bree was relieved that it’s his inner wolf trying to get out, and not drugs that was pulling Brandon away from her!)
Diego then sets about trying to teach Brandon how to accept his wolf as well as convincing Bree they should be together as she’s his ONE! (His forever mate)
It’s a sweet romance, Diego slowing the pace down until Bree is ready. He wants a family and he wants both Bree and Brandon.

With a book that’s already half way through the series you have to wonder if you’ve missed something, and I have to admit, I don’t think you do. I’m not aware of an ongoing story, so that’s good. But saying that, I think I’m going back to read the previous books, and I’m going to preorder if anything comes up (and I’m hoping the series continues) as it tells us how the rest of the group meet their mates.

Plenty of action and suspense as we try to work out who the bad guys are and what they want. The case makes no sense to Diego and his team. And when it begins to impact on Bree’s life, Diego worries she maybe taken from him before he gets his chance with her!!
And when her ex makes an appearance it could upset the happy balance Bree now has.

I liked this book, a mystery to be solved, a mate to woo, and a young wolf to train. We also have the interaction between Diego and his team, I had to chuckle at the banter that was thrown around.
Really well done, beautifully written and very expressive.

I received this book from Netgalley for my honest review. My opinions are my own.

Wow! This is a great book. Will definitely buy more books in the series.

Diego and Bree are a great couple. This is not a story of angst. It's a story of 2 well-adjusted people who find love and family with some action and mystery. Diego's relationship with Brandon, Bree's son, is charming.

The action and mystery are well done.

This is part of a series but can be read by itself.

I am a sucker for a single mom finding love. This is the case in this book. I had not read any of the other books in this series but found I could totally understand what was going on.

I enjoyed the alpha feelings that Diego portrays in this book. He is helpful to the main female character Bree in that he helps newly turned Brandon adjust to his life as a werewolf. He also helps Bree adjust in finding some semblance of love.

Thank you Sourcebooks Casa for this advanced copy of Wolf Untamed. It was quite a fun read!

This is my favorite book so far in Paige's SWAT series. I love Diego and Bree, and the addition of Branden (Bree's son) being a Beta werewolf makes the story even better. The characters have a wonderful bond and their relationship is well plotted and thought-out. It definitely has a slow burn that really resonates. Diego makes me happy - he is just such a sweet guy, and Bree definitely suits him.

The plot to this book was so different and complicated (in a good way). I did not see the ending coming. It was just really fascinating. I liked that this was a contained story with a very weird threat and villain. This was definitely a memorable story line. Thanks Paige - this was an awesome book and I am already wanting the next one.

Received as an Arc from Netgalley and Sourcebooks. Thank you.

The SWAT team continues as the team mates find their "ONE". It's Diego's turn. He's the hostage negotiator at a stand off in diner when he smells a teenage beta werewolf. Brandon and his mother are helping the police officers shot by the gunman but Brandon's fear has him struggling to control his fledgling wolf. Once the crisis is averted Diego volunteers to help Brandon and introduces him to his own pack and other teenage wolves.
Bree is a divorced single mother, grateful for Diego's help even as she builds upon her attraction to him by inviting him to dinner and working towards a relationship. Unfortunately her stalker ex-husband is not happy with the turn of events plus the town is going through some bizarre violence that requires Diego and fellow SWAT on duty.
Ms. Tyler has quite the imagination and the truth is definitely stranger than fiction and I get the feeling that we haven't heard the last of this phenomenon but things come together well and wrap up in a nice and easy way. To my way of thinking this is a good filler book not a lot of excitement and not a lot of violence.

-- Read this review, and others, on my blog at https://hookedbythatbook.com --

Diego Martinez has always aspired to be a part of the venerated Dallas SWAT team. And after the traumatic experience that triggered his change, he got his wish. Diego is attempting to talk down a crazy hostage-taker in a diner, when he meets Bree and her son, Brandon. Brandon is a brand-new beta werewolf, still in the process of undergoing his transformation. Diego takes the teenager and his mother under his wing and inducts them into the world of werewolves.

I’m really enjoying this entire series and the Dallas SWAT team, of course. Diego is a great guy. Very supportive and understanding. I also found it very realistic that the process of adjusting Brandon to his new life didn’t go all smooth sailing. I like Bree and admire her dedication to Brandon and her strength standing up to her ex-husband.

The plot was very different from the previous books. It made for a nice change from the hunters that have been featured in the past. There is plenty of suspense and the real reason for everything that has been going on is only revealed later and came as quite a surprise.

I recommend this if you like werewolves and romantic suspense. I think it’s better if you read the series in order, though it’s probably not the end of the world if you don’t.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me with an ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Wolf Untamed is the 11th book in the SWAT series by Paige Tyler. I've become invested in these characters but a new reader will have no problem jumping right in. I love the original storyline the author wrote, a single mom desperate to help her son overcome his issues. Little does she know he has become a werewolf. Diego is perfect for Bree and her son Brandon. They all deserve an HOA. Read this book for their sweet and exciting storyline but also because you will fall in love with the other characters and want to find out what happens next to the SWAT family.

Wolf Untamed by Paige Tyler is the 11th book in her wonderful SWAT (Special Wolf Alpha Team) series. As mentioned in previous reviews for this series, I love how Tyler always gives us wonderful, romance suspense stories, that are exciting, pulse pounding action filled, as well as great couples and hot alpha men (werewolves) that are part of the SWAT team.

Diego Martinez, our hero, is the SWAT team negotiator, who is tries to talk down a crazed man who threatens to kill those around him in a diner. Diego sees a mother and son trying to help a wounded victim, and senses something different about the young boy. After the incident, Diego finds himself attracted to the mother, Bree and knows that her teenage son, Brandon, is in the beginning of being a beta werewolf. Brandon had been shot awhile back, and Bree notices that her son was acting strange at times. Diego decides to take them under his protection, and explain what is happening to Brandon.

Bree, our heroine, was an insurance investigator, and though it sounded farfetched, she saw signs that Diego showed her that her son was indeed becoming a werewolf. I thought Bree was a great heroine, accepting what happened to her son, falling hard for Diego, and was willing to put herself into danger, when investigating her evil ex.

Diego and his teammates were deeply involved in a strange case that has innocent people becoming violent and remembering nothing afterwards. In a short time, both Diego and Bree realize that their cases are leading to the same conclusion. Her ex is somehow involved in the robberies/violence, which also puts her in danger, since her ex wants her and Brandon back at any cost.

What follows is an exciting, intense, suspenseful, action-packed adventure that will keep us glued to our seats, especially when all hell breaks loose causing even teammates to react dangerously. The last 1/3 of the book was a wild exciting race to stop those involved, before more deaths happen. The romance between Diego and Bree was steamy, as they had sizzling chemistry. I also loved how close Diego came to Brandon, teaching him everything he needed to know and understand.

Paige Tyler does it again with another intense, intriguing, exciting and sexy story. I loved Diego and Bree, as they complimented each other, not to mention hot. Wolf Untamed is another fabulous addition to this series. If you have not started this series, I suggest you do so, as it is a fun, exciting and sexy read and Paige Tyler is an author you need to be reading.

Wolf Untamed is a sweet single mom romance. SWAT werewolf Diego Martinez may be an alpha but he is clueless when it comes to love and a newly turned teenage werewolf. Give him a hostage negotiation any day. I loved watching him fall for Bree and her son. This is an exciting tale of love and intrigue. This is part of a series but can be read standalone.

Even though this is book 11 in the series, the author does a good job of mixing things up enough so the books don't feel repetitive and this would also be an easy book for someone to "jump into" the series as this story is self contained and the author does a good job of putting the needed werewolf myth/facts related to the series into the story without info dump or overload for those who've read the prior books.

Diego and Bree's relationship as well as the interactions between Diego and Brandon all felt to have real honest connection and depth. you could feel the trust between them build steadily and concerns addressed. while the crime/investigative storyline was a little convoluted & hint bizarre, it didn't distract from the relationship building but did help keep things moving and added to the full well rounded development of the characters. there was humor, action and (of course) romance all rolled into one enjoyable read and pleasant addition to the series.

I really liked this one from the start, liked how Diego realized there was more going on in the dinner than he realized, stuff that only the SWAT team could deal with, an unstable werewolf. Something about Brandon being so young and vulnerable made me root for him and I was glad that Diego was there to help Brandon when things spun out of control I thought both Brandon and Bree took the news of werewolves pretty well, no freaking out, but then again thinking your son was on drugs after being shot and almost dying, being a werewolf isn't so bad.

The attraction between Bree and Diego was strong right away and I liked that both of them were open to figuring things out and how fun was it that Bree is the one that made the first move. So among showing Brandon the ropes as a werewolf, Diego also dated Bree. It was fun to see Diego walk the line between Alpha werewolf and dad with Brandon, but it was something both of them ended up loving. I loved how Bree found out about The One and her likely being that person for Diego.

The crimes the SWAT guys were working were crazy! I sort of guessed the bad guys early on, but learning what was going on and how was actually a bit gross. I'm glad that the guys kept at it until they got every thing figured out and the bad guys put away where they couldn't hurt anyone again.

Thank you Netgalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the chance to read Paige Tyler's Wolf untamed for a review. It was great to get back into SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team Series, I started the series when book 4 had been published but they were so action packed and fun to read it was no problem reading all of them. Wolf untamed is number 11 and probably can be read without the others, but why would you give up the chance to read Hot, sexy alpha werewolves finding their soul-mates, and saving lives at the same time!
SWAT werewolf Diego Martinez has always had a protective side, so when he meets a newly turned teenage werewolf, and his Mom, he readily offers to help Brandon learn what it means to be a werewolf. His instant attraction to Bree could mean she is his One - but Bree's ex is there, and he wants back into their life...and will do anything to get his way. Wolf untamed was action packed, and as usual the pack was out in force. I loved how the author touched on Brandon's storyline; his transition to a beta werewolf, and how he was scared and kept this secret from his Mom. How he started to open up once Diego showed up. To me I thought there was a slight let down to one part of the story; the background on how the villain came to his power. After introducing vampires in previous stories, I had thought they were being introduced again, but no this was something different. Will we see more of this in future stories?

WOLF UNTAMED is the 11th book in the SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team series and it tells Diego's story. Although I think each book can be read as a stand alone, I believe that reading the previous books would help in understanding more of the world Paige Tyler has built.

After reading the previous books where the author had expanded the world with more supernatural beings, I was a little disappointed not seeing more of that on this one But although Diego and Bree weren't fighting against a supernatural being, they were definitely up against something weird.

This was definitely a fast-paced, action-packed story. Between Diego and his team members getting called intro strange situations and Bree's investigation into insurance fraud coupled with her and Diego's run-ins with her ex-husband, this story never missed a beat. I appreciated the author's effort to keep me engaged and intrigued in the story. Paige Tyler did a great job of putting all elements together so they they generated the most impact and kept being consistent as the story progressed.

I like Bree and Diego together and although it would seem like the romance should have taken a backseat from all the action and suspense, that wasn't the case. The author established Diego and Bree's connection fairly soon and kept developing in every interaction they exchanged. Their chemistry didn't need any help because it was palpable from the start, but the author still made it jumped off the page whenever these two came together (pun not intended!) :-)

All in all, a great addition to the story. I wonder who will get a story next!
