A fun, Christmas cookbook with lots of recipes, worthy of the Holidays! True to its title, it will delight you with the range of recipes included in the book. This is an ARC and is NOT a complete book. I can't even imagine the recipes that I am missing in this preview and cannot wait until it is released. While not every recipe has a picture, there is plenty of pictures peppered throughout to keep you satisfied. I would have liked to see the whole book, however, there is enough to make a review worthwhile, and like most of the other reviewers will be seeking out the final copy for our own kitchens! I love the Holidays, and this will be a perfect book to place on my kitchen counter and cook from!

**I received and voluntarily read an e-ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.**

While I was drawn to this cookbook based on the cookies on the front of it, I was pleasantly surprised at the variety of other types of recipes within. "Stuffed Winter Squash" and "Creamy Corn Casserole" are standouts that will be on rotation for family gatherings!

I'm currently making a shopping list, and will be making the "Angel Cookies" and the "Butterfingers Cookies" for Labor Day weekend.

Unfortunately, this is an ARC, and so the book is incomplete, but I absolutely cannot wait until the final book is in my hands!

Thank you Netgalley for an ARC of Christmas Delights.

I love a good Christmas cookbook and am always looking for new and inspiring recipes. Christmas Delights takes a faith based direction on traditional recipes. The cookbook covers the gamete from cocoa to Christmas dinner and holiday treats. All of the recipes are simple with limited ingredients. They are however a bit basic, everyone has an eggnog and cocoa recipe and lacked that wow factor. I liked the faith theme throughout I just wish the recipes were more creative.

This is a very sweet and conventional cookbook. The design of the books was quite lovely and evoked the beauty of the holiday season. Interspersing quotations and Christmas prayers throughout was a lovely touch. The only thing that I wish was that the Christmas Eve chapter had come before the Christmas dinner chapter, it would have made more sense chronologically. Over all, this was a very sweet list of the everyday easy to follow recipes that evoke the Christmas season.

Christmas is a crucial and beautiful moment of the year for building memories that later, maybe also after decades, will be shared with the newest components of the family. It's a moment spent all together, where, to making the difference is this being all united, for once, also when we live pretty distantly from the rest of the family. It's a day, maybe two, spent close, singing carols, playing table games, surely telling jokes, anedocts, facts, sharing past and present, exchanging gifts, going to the mass together.

It's this one a moment of aboundance and celebration and pass also through food and beverages. This one is a crucial point of the feast because food eaten means a continuity and a family tradition. Each family in the specific, certainly will have its own traditions in this sense, preffering some dishes to other ones.

Understanding the peculiarity of food and memories connected together of this important and powerful feast, Barbour Press has decided to propose a new, beautiful, fascinating, absolutely yummy! cooking book all dedicated to Christmas called Sample Christmas Delights.

It's all about the most delicious Christmas's Meals, starting from beverages, passing through Breakfasts and Brunches and then Dinner, Christmas Eve Celebration, Cookies and Candies, Festive Breads and more.

Richly illustrated, authors admit that this cooking book is plenty of recipes easy to make and easy to share.

Everything is magical during the Christmas's Time, and beverages are not an exception; chocolate will be enriched with Cinnamon, eggnog will play the role of the lion, without forgetting french chocolate, spicy tea just for telling you what you will meet along your way in this book.

Some dishes in the section Bountiful Pancakes of various sorta, breakfast casserole, breakfast pizza, Coffe Break Cake, Cornmeal Mush, Doughnuts, Energy Bars.

Christmas Dinner and Main Dishes proposes (just some dishes for tantalizing your appetite) Italian Turkey, Honey Roast Ham, Lasagna, Lemon-Herb Turkey Breast, Traditional Christmas Turkey and many more.

In the one of Cookies and Candy we see Angel Cookies, Candy Cane Cookies...

A yummy cooking book for the most festive, colored and dreaming moment of the year!

Highly recommonded.

I thank NetGalley and Barbour for this ebook.

Review of sample - approximately two-thirds of pages. The sample focused on beverages, breakfast/brunches, and savory dishes, with a teaser of the cookie section. The physical book will be spiral-bound, with color photographs.

This is a beautifully presented, beautifully photographed Christmas cookbook. It is targeted toward a Christian audience, with prayers and Bible verses introducing each section. The recipes have a homey feel -- e.g., the "Champagne Salad" is the kind with cream cheese and whipped topping, not microgreens with fancy vinegar and glazed pecans.

Organization and selection are a bit puzzling. There is a separate section for "Festive Breads," but the brunch section includes many recipes for apparently less festive breads like muffins and scones. It's unclear why some recipes represent the occasions for which they are included. For the editors, Christmas Eve appears to be a night of soups, which may not be true for every reader. And the suggestions for Christmas Dinner are admirably if oddly comprehensive, including not only the usual suspects (turkey, goose, ham, rib roast), but some less likely contenders, like lasagna. Doc Severinsen would be proud.

Many thanks to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

What a beautiful book! Full of delicious recipes and great, atmospheric photographs this book is a treasure trove of Christmas spirit. The recipes seem simple to follow with relatively few ingredients which always attracts me to a recipe book. This book is obviously designed for the American market so there are several ingredients which would be unavailable in the UK but there were enough recipes still for this Brit to want to give them a go! This would make a great gift for anyone who enjoys hosting Christmas with many traditional favourites as well as exciting new recipes to try.

Christmas Delights is a collection of recipes and ideas for the Christmas season. Due out 1st Sept 2020 from Barbour Publishing, it's 224 pages and will be available in flexibound format.

The layout is simple and the recipes are arranged thematically: beverages, breakfast & brunch, Christmas dinner (main dishes and sides), Christmas Eve parties, cookies and candy, festive breads, and party dishes to feed crowds.

Ingredient measurements are supplied in American measurements only. There's no included conversion chart for metric measures.Descriptions are contained in the header for each recipe. The nutritional information is not included. Extra tips or recipe alternatives are listed in sidebars with the recipes. The recipes themselves are fairly straightforward and are made with easily sourced ingredients. Many are very simple, none of them are overly complex. I was surprised that most of the recipes are not cookies or sweets. The bulk of my holiday baking is cookies and fudge and similar things for sharing and gift-giving and there weren't many here to choose from however, it's worth noting that the review eARC of the book provided represented about 50% of the final page content, so there's likely to be more of all the recipe categories in the press edition of the book.

These are tasty, easy to prepare, homestyle cooking for sharing with family and friends.

Each of the chapter headers includes a simple devotional paragraph or short prayerful saying. The writing is not strident or preachy. They're comforting and joyful and wouldn't be taken amiss by non-Christian readers.

The photography is not abundant; most of the recipes are not illustrated, but the photographs which are included are clear and well done. I wish there had been more photographs and serving suggestions, but I do understand that extra photography increases the price of book projects very quickly.

As a bonus, many of the recipes include gift giving packaging ideas for sharing.

Four stars.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

Thank you to Netgalley for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinions and review.

Christmas Delights is a beautiful book to add to any collection. The pictures are stunning and festive, the recipes, while simple, are still delightful to have. I really enjoyed the Scripture elements throughout as well as yet another way to add to the joys of Christmas. While I haven't had an opportunity to make any of the recipes yet, I really enjoyed that all of the ingredients were easily accessible to the everyday cook. Filled with recipes for warm, wintry drinks, brunch, snacks, breakfast, dinner and more for the holidays!
This is one I will definitely purchase and add to my collection.

A very attractive Christmas recipe book. The colors are vibrant and make you feel part of the season. The photos reflect the recipe you are about to make and add a touch of refinement to the book. The biblical references are appropriate for the celebration.

Recipes look easy to prepare, with a straightforward explanation. I usually like recipes that use ingredients that are easily available worldwide. For those who do not live in the USA and want to make a recipe that reminds them of home, this would be a good book.
I didn’t get to read the last sections of the recipe book, but the first recipes make me hopeful for the rest of the content.

The recipe book is very enjoyable. It's a shame that it only comes with a spiral binding. I would have liked to feel it in my hand as a hardcover with raised indentations. It would certainly be a good addition to my library. I would recommend this book as a gift for the Christmas season.

Thanks to NetGalley and Barbour staff for providing this ebook for review.
I just reviewed SAMPLE Christmas Delights by Compiled by Barbour Staff. #ChristmasDelights #NetGalley

The recipes in this cookbook sound so good and easy to make. It has a wide variety of foods and drinks. This cookbook would make a wonderful gift. Thank you Barbour Publishing via NetGalley for the ARC copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.

This was a fun cookbook that will definitely help you and your family get into the Christmas spirit through good food and drinks. My only complaint is that it didn’t have very many holiday sweets recipes. When I think of holiday baking and family time there is Christmas cookies and various sweets always in kitchen. This one cookbook only had six recipes for candy and cookies. So if you’re in the market for a cookbook that’s geared more towards main courses and the like this is for you.

With over 250 recipes from savory hors d'oeuvres to sweet and satisfying treats, sumptuous buffet offerings, and delicious breakfast staples, the contributors of Christmas Delights offer specialties from every corner of the country.

Interspersed between festive clip art and mouth-watering pictures, most of these easy to follow recipes can be made from what I’ve already got in my pantry. Cinnamon Topped Oatmeal muffins can be whipped together in under 20 minutes, and the simple formula for blender made Hollandaise Sauce make even a beginner cook look like a star.

One of the things which captured my attention about Christmas Delights was the creative variety of side dishes. So many simple, easy to make dishes with ten or less ingredients, will be easy to whip up and sure to please your guests.

I’m reviewing the “sample” edition provided by NetGalley so my copy stops after soups, but from the table of contents provided I can see this is just the tip of the iceberg so to speak, and I’m looking forward to getting my hands on the final version when it’s published.

An interesting collection of recipes, though missing some of the classic Christmas cheer. While each section begins with a prayer, many of the recipes feel more general than specific to the Christmas season. Some great drink recipes, lacking in the baked goods department, and heavy on brunch and dinner recipes. Worth perusing, but the cover is somewhat misleading.
