Great sequel to Julia's House of Lost Creatures! Same old friends, new message about what to do when plans fall through. I know a little girl who loved Julia the first time around, and I know she will love this one even more.

Julia and her lost creatures are getting restless. They seem ready to move on. But all of Julia's best laid plans are going by the wayside. What is she to do??

It's a great concept of a book. Going with the flow. And the illustrations are my favorite. Yet I just don't find anything that grabs me. It's not bad. It's not great. But it will have a place with some readers that is for sure!

I am a huge fan of Hatke's stories and art and this book is no exception. If you haven't read the first picture book about Julia and her house, that's ok. In this book Julia, her house, and her friends are getting restless. It is time to move. No matter how many plans Julia has, nothing seems to work out the way she hoped. It's a great lesson in trying to go with the flow and realizing that not everything will go the way you hope or plan. Good read-aloud for 5-7 y/o.

Julia has a plan for everything...until she doesn't. When she senses her house and the creatures within getting restless, Julia makes a plan to move on. Nothing, of course, ever goes exactly to plan. How will she cope? Hatke's books are always beautiful, always whimsical, always more than meets the eyes. His latest is no exception, and the message feels evergreen.
