This was just ok. The formatting for the word games and recipes was awful for kindle format, simply dreadful. It would be easier to enjoy a printed version of this. Some good recipes and games but formatting was a mess. Cannot recommend this in kindle format at all.

Thanks to Netgalley, Kate Heddings and Tiller Press for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is a cookbook that has some interactive games segmented throughout its pages. Would make a good gift for a home cook in your life, but I would not necessarily recommend for a library setting unless the patron in question is okay with making tons of photo copies.

Review to come on my blog and Amazon at publication date: http://nonstopreaderbooks.blogspot.com/

Hungry Games is a fun collection of food related puzzles for readers to solve by food editor Kate Heddings. Due out 20th Oct 2020 from Simon & Schuster on their Tiller Press imprint, it's 176 pages and will be available in paperback and ebook formats.

This is an interesting collection of food and cooking themed puzzles. There are word searches, crosswords, and interesting and innovative "recipe repair" puzzles where readers are provided with a workable recipe into which 10 errors have been inserted. The point of the puzzle is to find and correct the errors and the reward is a usable and well developed recipe.

The puzzles run the gamut from very easy to difficult. This is a fun and varied collection. I would personally recommend the physical version of the book or access to a printer (for the ebook puzzles). Four stars.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

A joyous mash-up of cookbook and puzzle book. There are delicious-looking recipes, but also crossword puzzles, word searches, and more--all food-themed. I do not plan to buy this for our library collection, but only because puzzle books tend to get stolen or written in. For the food-loving puzzler in your life, though, it would make a great gift!

This is a fun read!

There are a number of recipes at the beginning that sound good. I wish there was pictures of the recipes! That is something I like in recipe books.

There are also word searches and crosswords that are food themed which are fun! It's hard to do them on a digital version, but the crosswords are fun and well done.

It's a good way to keep you thinking and learn some new recipes.

Enjoyable and cute. The recipes seemed run of the mill, but the puzzles, particularly the crosswords were well done. though as I read it as a digital arc, I missed out on really doing the games.

Thank you to Netgalley for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

This book is pretty fun. Lots of crosswords, word searches and recipes! But be careful, the recipes aren't right! This is part of the game, you need to figure out what is wrong about each recipe! But don't worry because the answers are at the end so you can still make the recipes! So fun! I received a free digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review
