The Mersey Girls by Sheila Riley is a perfectly written story which I read in a day. I couldn’t wait to go back to the story during my breaks around the house.

I am a huge fan of historical fiction novels. I was more pleased when my request to read this book was granted thanks to Rachel Random Resources blog tours.

Sheila Riley is a new to me author. Her style of writing is clear and easy to understand.

I admire the book cover. So alluring! The book is clean to my standards. I highly recommend it to historical fiction fans.

There are three girls who are my favourites in this story. Two of them taking centre place in the plot and the other one a secondary but important character.

There are lots of characters in this book and the community where they live is such a tight knitted and close area. I like such warmth regardless of the occupants.

Grace,Evie and Susie. I admired Evie more. I could empathize with Grace but Susie? As much as I dislike her,I can’t help feeling good that she was put into the plot to give it the desired twist a good story ought to have.

I was surprised to discover that unmarried pregnant girls were considered scandalous beings during the era the book was set in. I could imagine the lengths and breadths those girls took just to survive without the stigma of pregnancy before wedlock.

One thing evident in life and in this book is that, the truth always set things right. It is easier to live in truth and honesty without fear of the consequences.

I really enjoyed this book. I love the happy ending. I am rating it 5 stars! I can’t wait to read more books by this author.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are mine.

I wish I'd read the first in the series because I was a little lost at the beginning as to who everyone was. However, as the story went on I was there and loved the twists and turns of the plot and how it affected the characters, their loves, their lives and the problems. This fulfilled my belief that a novel should first and foremost be entertaining and it was. I lost myself for three days until I finished it.

This has been a great read by an author I have not read previously. However, I am eagerly adding more of these books to my evergrowing TBR. This is the second book in the series, it has made no difference that I have not read the first. The author has managed to set the scene really well and I do not feel as though I have missed anything.

The characters are likeable and I have really enjoyed reading this book, this is a talented author who has completely captured my attention and kept me gripped.I cannot wait to read more by this author, this has definitely set the standard high and this is definitely a five star read. I am so excited to read more by this author.

I was so looking forward to catching up with Residents of Reckoner's Row and finding out whats been happening to Grace,Susie,Evie and Danny.Evie becomes office manager at Skinner and son's haulage yard susie is shocked and walks out in a strop.Evie is there to sort out the books and is shocked to find out that Henry and Meggie are being blackmailed and that susie had never followed up on missing payments. There are many shocks and surprises in this book and i was sad to finish it well worth 5* as Sheila Riley writes a wonderful story that draws you in.

This was an enjoyable book to read. There was a good storyline that kept me interested and all of the characters were different. I even had sympathy with Sadie, Grace had an exciting time singing on the cruise liners and it was nice that she found happiness at the end. Evie was a kind person who kept her family together and it was lovely to see that she found Danny to love. There was nothing in this book that I did not like so thank you for giving me the opportunity to read it.

Book two as I enjoyed the first reckoners row I so enjoyed this getting back into the characters lives.
Its 1950, Grace Harris entertaining on a passenger cruiser with her beautiful soulful voice is nursing her broken engagement to Clifford Brack, but she meets Bruce D'Angelo on board and they hit it off.
Mean while back home in Reckoners Row Liverpool, life is carrying on especially between Evie Kilgaren and Grace brother Danny.
This is such a feel good book,I loved catching up, such delight, saga readers won't be disappointed.
Lets hope there's more to come from the author she has a way with her writing to bring the stories to life in a big way. worthy stars.

From the moment I started reading You could feel the family connections. Evie looking after her siblings Jack and Lucy then when she goes to work Evie has to contend with an old enemy Susie who’s vying for Danny’s affections. Little did Evie know when she accepted the position of office manager at Skinners yard how much it would map her future. Her sister Grace comes back from entertaining on cruise ships to get away from her dangerous ex boyfriend and finds solace with Bruce son of the owner of the cruise ships. Skinner himself is a big character who is devoted to wife Maggie, who has secrets she doesn’t want discovered. What made getting to the end easier was the knowledge that there is another one.
