It may have taken me a bit to get into audiobooks, but this was one of the first ones to really ignite my love for them! I not only love Beth O'Leary's writing, but listening to Alison Steadman and Daisy Edgar-Jones narrate this one was wonderful! They truly brought Leena and Grandma Eileen to life, and the lifestyle switch was both laugh-out-loud funny and eyes-welling endearing.

I wholeheartedly recommend this audiobook - the narrators were both a joy to listen to, and I'm so thankful to Netgalley, Beth O'Leary and Macmillan Audio for my gifted audio copy of The Switch!

I received a review copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley for my honest review. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

I heard wonderful things about other books by Beth O’Leary, but this one wasn’t for me.

I found this story to have no interest, and I found it to be a little ridiculous. The dialogue was not very engaging, and I thought it was pretty boring.

I read this as an audiobook, and that’s why I gave this book two stars. The narrators did keep me intrigued enough to finish the book. They read this book well.

Even though I haven't been a big fan of Beth O'Leary in the past, this book was a surprise to me and I ended up really enjoying it! I'm really glad I took the plunge again and I will absolutely be picking up more of her work in the future.

This was everything you'd expect from Beth O Leary- fun, lighthearted romance with a really clever concept the age gap switch to this extent is something I've not seen before. I enjoyed the characters and this was a sweet listen. I thought the narration worked really well. Thank you for the copy

The Switch is a heart-warming and light hearted story while touching on some deeper topics such as loss and grief. I love stories with well-written mature characters and Eileen, 79, was entertaining. Her experimenting with online dating brought humor and balance to Leena’s grief over loosing her sister. I also enjoyed the grandmother/grand daughter relationship in this story. While there were no big surprises with this one, the journey was light, easy to read, and quick to engage. I recommend for all readers who want a book to put a smile on their face.

"The Switch" is an audiobook with a cute narration and storyline. The only issues I have with it is that Leena as a character was a bit boring but it was worth listening to it overall.

The Switch by Beth O’Leary was a unique take on the concept of switching places with someone else - I’ve never heard of a 79-year-old and a 20-something switching places! Both narrators did a great job and brought even more to their characters. I definitely recommend the audiobook because of the small touches, like changing the phone calls to sound like they are phone calls. It added more to the experience. I had some trouble keeping all of the secondary characters straight. Overall, I recommend this one if you enjoy romance and you’re in the mood for a fun, quick listen. Thanks to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for an advanced audio copy. Originally, I did not give feedback on this title because I had issues accessing it via the NetGalley shelf app. I have since been able to access the audio via a different source and updated my feedback.

This was a really cute book. I just adore books that follow elderly characters especially those trying to find themselves and carve out a new life. I would have preferred if the entire book was in the grandmother's POV because I found the granddaughter to be a bit boring but besides that I did enjoy it.

This was such a cute story, but ended being more serious than I expected it to be. This had “The Holiday” vibes, one of my favorite movies.

When Leena is ordered to take a 2-month sabbatical after being so stressed she is no longer productive at work, she leaves London and moves to Yorkshire Village. Eileen is about to turn 80, and is looking for a second chance at love. She wants a life with someone enjoy life within the countryside.

The story is told in alternating POV’s from Eileen and Leena’s. The writing is sweet and easy to follow. The audiobook is amazing, I truly felt like they embodied the characters. I loved the Flatshare, so I was looking forward to reading this book.

Overall, I enjoyed the story, it was sweet, but it could have been a bit shorter.

I absolutely adored Eileen. She is the sort of septogenarian I'd love to be when I get to that age.

A wonderful story with heartfelt moments and laugh out loud scenes.

Quite unfortunately, I was not able to download this copy before I could listen to it. I read the book and I found the story to be well written; however I can’t comment on the audio narrators.

Thank you to Beth O'Leary, Net Galley, and Macmillan Audio for the ARC of The Switch. I have realized that I am not a good audiobook listener and I couldn't finish this book. I did not care for this book, but it may not be the book, it may be me!

I’ve read all of Beth O’Leary’s books so I was excited to pick this one up and it didn’t disappoint. It’s a nice cosy book and I especially liked the fact that the story is narrated from the two main character’s perspectives and gives an insight into both of their worlds. I thought it was great that the entire focus of this novel wasn’t centred entirely around the romance element, there was a lot more to it.

I wasn't 100% sure what to expect going into this one, since I ended up not being the biggest fan of The Flatshare, but I was pleasantly surprised! I found myself falling into this story very quickly, and loving Eileen even faster. It was overall just such a sweet book, even as it dealt with some very heavy topics throughout.

I think I slightly preferred Eileen's story, just because it's a story unlike many I've read already. I almost never see protagonists aged above 40, which is honestly a shame. I honestly really enjoyed seeing Eileen's perspective on the world, from online dating to the busy streets of London, and I love how stubborn and strong she was throughout, even though I would definitely get annoyed if I had an Eileen meddling in my life haha! Overall, I adored her, and I loved how hard she tried to make the lives of those around her happier, even if they were complete strangers just a few pages ago.

Leena's story was one I've read variations of before, but often in romance books, where the story is much more focused on that romance instead of personal and familial growth. I expected a stronger romance, but I ended up really appreciating how much time was spent more on Leena as a person, and her struggles with grief and anger. Her POV led to some extremely tough scenes, especially regarding her mother, but underneath it all you could always see that Leena was trying her best to be the best for everyone, and just needed to be stopped for a bit, so she could start being the best for herself, too.

I also really enjoyed the audiobook for this story, and I loved that we had two distinct narrators for each POV. I've listened to books narrated by Leena's narrator before, and have always really enjoyed her narration style. I did prefer Eileen's narrator though, but I just felt like she perfectly embodied Eileen and her thoughts, and I definitely had the most fun in those sections!

Overall, I did really enjoy this book, and I do think I'll be giving more of Beth O'Leary's books a shot again!

I am REALLY sad that I didn't just fall in love with this one. Because I really do love this author. Some of the other books she's written.
Unfortunately, I got to 20% with this, didn't love it, and then gave up. With that said, I WILL be reading more of her in the future. I just don't think that this, particular, book was for me.

Thank you for the opportunity to listen to this book!

"The Switch" was overall enjoyable but falling short in terms of being memorable. I liked the reading (or rather listening as I got an eARC of the audiobook) experience but if you were to ask me any details about the book or pinpoint what makes it unique, I wouldn't be able to tell you much. Still, if you are looking for a nice palate cleanser with a nice trope of an unlikely female friendship, then look no further.

I am in such a huge minority here because I unfortunately didn't like this. Maybe it was the narrator that made me lose interest in the story quickly or maybe the story didn't have alot of merit. No, I think it was the narrator, I haven't read the physical book yet but I am pretty sure its a heart warming book.
The narrator was droning on without alot of enthusiasm and feeling to her voice. The narration was flat and tasteless which is why I dnfed this audiobook.
