I went into reading this manga knowing absolutely nothing about it. It was a charming tale of a displaced nobleman making friends with a local adventurer and joining the adventurer's guild. There are some mysteries that will be unraveling in future books, I'm sure, and I am interested in seeing where this story goes.

Not a lot of action for a book about adventuring, but there is a lot of character development, and the pacing was nice. I would recommend this manga to people who like well-rounded characters and fun adventures.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley, opinions are my own.

My teen daughter liked this book a lot. She says that it's a cute adventure manga, the characters are likeable and the plot is good. She's looking forward to reading the second book in the series.

Wow, I really got stuck in this manga. I was so into it that I was surprised the manga ended. I really enjoyed it, it was so sweet and lovely. I found the main character, Lizel, quite loveable and I can’t wait to read the next volume. I believe it will explain more things and deepen my understanding of this new world. Moreover, I loved the art; it was so smooth, soft and more importantly, it is easy to distinguish the different characters. The author introduced a fantasy world without overwhelming me; it can be similar to our world (our maybe more our past world) with a few elements that brings the fantasy and the magic out. Not a lot of action, but a lot of intriguing elements.

This had such a strange name ‘A Gentle Noble’s Vacation Recommendation’ that I found myself drawn towards it. I had no clue that it was a manga adaptation of an existing book series, which might explain some of the issues I had with this.

Overall it was a very quick and quite cute read, but when I stopped to think about it, there were some questions. Lizel is transported into this world, and while neither he nor we find out why he is there or how he got there, this seems to be almost immediately forgotten and is not an issue. Strangely, what this story seemed to be lacking most was some sort of conflict. Lizel wants to be an adventurer, here you go – and he’s really good at it. There are some very difficult riddles to solve – just give them to Lizel and they are solved in no time.

I am however quite curious to see how the series develops and if there will be somewhat more of an overarching story line and some things to overcome for Lizel.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me with a free electronic copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

This is charming!

I'm enjoying the clean lines of this style. The author knows human proportions well and shows it in their work. It's very pleasing on the eyes.

The beginning was the most confusing part. We needed to have some sort of knowledge of what was happening, which did eventually come. However, we were thrown into the story in this instance and I feel that wasn't he best thing to do, with their story.

Once you get into the story, it reads like an RPG game story with little quirks. The overall story is deeper than it seems. There is humor but it's cleverly placed. It's obviously not done by an novice.

I don't exactly trust the main character, but he's definitely interesting. His relationships with other characters is quite strange. I'm interested in learning his backstory and his motives.

Can't wait for the next!

Thank you to the publisher and to Netgalley for the advance copy of this book!

This book was very cute and I really enjoyed it. The art was very easily read and easy to follow. The plot and storyline in the book gave me what I was looking for. I highly recommend this author. I loved the writing. I will be looking for other works in the future from this author.

Full disclosure: I was super confused while reading this entire book. Apparently, it’s based off of something else? I don’t know, but whatever that something else is, I’m sure I’d have to read it to get it. I mean, it was funny at times, especially since Gil and Lizel have two completely different personalities, and Lizel is totally oblivious to the affect he has on people.
But, despite my confusion, this book is a fast and fun read, and I am curious to know more.

This light novel adaptation is perfectly nice in an unassuming way. It is an interesting tweak of the isekai formula in that Lizel is himself from a fantasy world before being whisked off to a different fantasy world, and there does seem to be a decent romance subplot building between he and Gil, the hard-nosed adventurer he gets to take charge of him. But unless it you're a dedicated genre fan, this is just okay, with the exception of the very clear, clean art, which outshines the story itself.

A Gentle Noble's Vacation Recommendation, Vol. 1 by Momochi, Misaki, and Sando is currently scheduled for release on August 11 2020. When Lizel mysteriously finds himself in a city that bears odd similarities to his own but clearly isn't, he quickly comes to terms with the unlikely truth: this is an entirely different world. Even so, laid-back Lizel isn't the type to panic. He immediately sets out to learn more about this strange place, and to help him do so, hires a seasoned adventurer named Gil as his tour guide and protector. Until he's able to find a way home, Lizel figures this is a perfect opportunity to explore a new way of life adventuring as part of a guild. After all, he's sure he'll go home eventually so he might as well enjoy the otherworldly vacation for now.

A Gentle Noble's Vacation Recommendation is a charming manga that felt very much like some of the fantasy I read as a kid, and the video games that I played. Lizel seems sweet and innocent, but is smart and crafty enough to make the perfect choices in companions, who to trust, and how to interact with them. Gil is a nice foil to Lizel, seeming to be much harder and more jaded, but they balance each other out even as they confuse each other. There are many layers to what is happening, and I want to follow them all. I want to know more about the background and skills of both Lizel and Gil, how they ended up who and where they are. I want to see them deepen their friendship, I want to learn more about several secondary characters, and what is really going on with how Lizel got there and the person that put in a request at the guild. I thought the artwork matched the story, theme, and characters very well and added details and personality to each page.

I enjoyed A Gentle Noble's Vacation Recommendation and hope to continue the series.

Thanks to TokyoPop for making this book available to me via #Netgalley.

We follow Lizel who found himself transported to a world that seems so familiar to the one he is from (which we never saw) but he quickly learns the way of the new world and how people treated him with much awe and respect. He was dressed like a nobleman and he looked and spoke like one.
Soon he meets Gil who warns him about a group of guys, they introduce themselves and they Lizel employs Gil into his service. This is when he finds out that Gil is an Adventurer who hires himself out and he is very popular in the field.

They go on a tour of the city and they met other lower rank adventurers. After Lizel shows that he has some magical power, his entry into town spreads like wide fire and everyone gets to know about the new guy in town. He uses this fame in hopes that he would become an adventurer too and be a part of the Guild.
He has decided to take his situation and make it into a fun one.

I really want to know more but the characters just felt too one dimensional for me, I don't know how the relationship between Lizel and Gil would progress and I am quite interested.

Welcome to another Netgalley review! I am having so much fun making these, and I hope you are having fun reading them!😁

This manga follows Lizel, who finds himself in a city that is oddly similar to his home town, but isn’t quite his, grappling with the fact that he is in another world, completely. Soon he meets adventurer Gil, and hires him to be his tour guide and protector, deciding that until he can find his way home, he better find his way in this new world. He might just enjoy the vacation!🤗

This volume was seriously the CUTEST. I loved how it jumped right into the plot line, and helped us figure everything out as we went. Lizel was a delightful main character, and the chemistry he had with Gil was undeniable. It did take me a bit to get used to the whole Adventures Guild, and if there was a full magic system, or if it was just magical realism, leaving me to dock a star. I totally recommend this to any beginners in the manga world, and I can’t wait until we get the second volume, even though it’s probably gonna be awhile.😋

What’s the last manga you read? Did you like it? Let me know!💋

Dm me to talk about all things book or writing related! I’ll be looking forward to it! —Em😌

Lizel finds himself in a strange place that feels very similar to his home. He immediately pawns his sword and sets about finding himself a local guide. He stumbles upon Gil, and adventures nicknamed “Single Stroke.” Lizel, an obvious noble by his stature and demeanor, decides he wants to become an adventurer too! He charms the attendant at the Adventurer's guild, provides critical insight to a team trying to solve a labyrinth, and takes on his first quests to level up.

Lizel is naturally good at everything and wins everyone over so easily that I’m wondering just what the conflict is going to be. It was very quickly brushed aside that Lizel was not in his home, and he decided to treat this whole thing as a vacation, yet had to seek employment immediately. There were quite a few narrative jumps and things that didn’t quite make sense. For instance, while adventuring, Lizel finds teddy bears in treasure chests and somehow knows his buyer thinks very highly of such an item. Not only is he right, but they become best-noblemen-buddies because of the care in wrapping Lizel did. Even in summary, this sounds strange.

This title is part of Tokyopop's LoveXLove line, focusing on all types of love. I was hoping to find some boys-love titles that would be appropriate my library collection, but I’m not sure this series is it because of the problems in story continuity, not because of the LGBTQ+ elements.

A Gentle Noble’s Vacation Recommendation is something that we can consider as a light isekai story. It has everything an isekai ought to have: a transported MC, adventuring, fantasy, and monsters. However, reading it doesn’t require heavy thinking or aggravated emotions. Contrary to that, it’s actually pretty relaxing to read. It’s just like traveling to a new place and discovering a lot of new things as we travel to new locations.

In A Gentle Noble's Vacation Recommendation Volume 1 mangaka Misekai, Momochi, and Sando take on the popular isekai trope as nobleman Lizel finds himself unexpectedly dropped into an unfamiliar city.  The manga is published by Tokyopop and translated into English by Christine Dashiell, while Vibrraant Publishing Studio handled retouching and lettering. Originally published as a light novel called The Gentle Noble’s Vacation Recommendation, Tokyopop licensed the story, and A Gentle Noble's Vacation Recommendation Volume 1 collects the first five chapters of Lizel’s story and includes a bonus short story chapter.

For someone unexpectedly dropped into an unknown city in an unknown world, Lizel takes things in stride, completely unbothered by the turn in circumstances. Deciding to treat the whole experience like a vacation, Lizel wants to explore everything this new town has to offer including joining the local adventurer's guild. With the help of Gil, aka Single Stroke, a renowned B-Rank adventurer, Lizel is on his way to having not only a great vacation but a remarkable adventure.

While A Gentle Noble's Vacation Recommendation Volume 1 follows a typical isekai plot, the protagonist ends up in a fantasy world and has to figure out how to survive/how to get home, Misekai's writing helps this story stand out from the crowd, creating an enjoyable and endearing read. Lizel's nonchalant attitude towards the situation is the opposite of what one would expect and it's refreshing.

In addition to the writing, Momochi and Sando's art makes A Gentle Noble's Vacation Recommendation Volume 1 standout amongst the slew of isekai titles being offered. When he first arrives, Lizel stands out from everyone else because he doesn't have the proper style for his new town. But even as Lizel adjusts his look, he still maintains his own unique and iconic style; knee-high boots with built-in garters and a matching belt? Why even bother adventuring if you can't look that good doing it. And when Lizel and Gil interact it's clear from the art how they feel about each other. Even when they are arguing, or rather, Gil is trying to argue with Lizel, it's clear that they only have eyes for each other. No matter what's going on, Gil always has eyes on Lizel, and vice versa.

One of my favorite moments in A Gentle Noble's Vacation Recommendation Volume 1 is when after learning that libraries don't exist in this world,  Lizel purchases all of the books in a bookshop so he can return to the shop and take the books as needed. And in the meantime, the shop owner can sell the books to other patrons. This is such a great moment because I can relate to Lizel's love of books, and also because it shows what kind of character Lizel is; he's quite selfless and wants to do good.

The interactions between Lizel and Gil are a delight to read as they play the role of the excitable interloper and cynical adventurer respectively, without being one-dimensional tropes. Lizel is easygoing and spirited without being naive, proving himself capable in guild interactions as well as battle, and Gil maintains his stoic loner appearance in public, as he gets to know Lizel you can see his walls start to drop ever so slightly. It's not quite a friendship yet, but Gil starts to enjoy being around Lizel.

While reading A Gentle Noble's Vacation Recommendation Volume 1,  I felt like there was the start of not only a friendship between Lizel and Gil but maybe a romance as well. If romance is in the cards for these two, it's sure to be a slow burn, friends to lovers. Even if the creators don't go the romance route with these two, it will be heartwarming to watch their friendship grow and deepen.

As a fan of isekai manga, I was eager to jump into A Gentle Noble's Vacation Recommendation Volume 1 and it exceeded my expectations. Lizel's journey is just beginning and I am eagerly anticipating the next chapter in his story.

A Gentle Noble's Vacation Recommendation Volume 1 is available from booksellers on August 11, 2020.

A fun twist on the iseikai genre, with the main character, Lizel, getting dropped into a fantasy world....from another fantasy world. Because of this, and because of his ultra-laid-back personality, he has no trouble navigating this new world. It helps that it is similar to his own world, almost uncannily so. He decides he needs someone to show him around, and after selling his sword for a lot of money, he meets and hires Gil, who unbeknownst to Lizel, is the highest B ranked adventurer in the town. Gil helps Lizel join a guild and train as an adventurer, and there are swoony subtle hints of interest between the two- seriously, so sigh-worthy! As far as the other stuff that happens, it's fairly basic training and introducing secondary characters, with enough hints at future intrigue and possibilities to make me want the next volume now. There's the usual unanswered but hinted at questions, like what is Lizel's background, anyway; who is the requester of the labyrinth quest, and how will he fit into the story; what is Studd's story; and more. The artwork is gorgeous, Lizel's expressions especially are so emotive, fitting his character very well, and the other characters are drawn in a way that really expresses their personalities as well. The character development is good so far; we have a good sense of the characters, and we can guess at the ways they'll grow in the future. A good start, I'd say- while not action packed, there are enough teases of intrigue and mystery to get me to look forward to the next book.

Uhhhh, my heart! I am so going to continue reading this manga series. I love both the adventure aspect along with the character development. My heart swoons and I cannot wait to read the rest of this series as it gets published! Keep it up Momochi, Misaki, & Sando!

This manga has serviceable art and characters. I'm just unsure where this story is supposed to go from here. After finding out this is an adaptation of a light novel, I figured I didn't have proper context for the premise or that it takes a while to get drawn in. I've read better and worse isekai manga than A Gentle Noble's Vacation Recommendation Vol. 1. The first installment in this series is rather unremarkable to me, but considering the potential in the characters there might be something to look foward to in future volumes.

Art - 3.5
The art is fine. I particularly liked Studd's character design.

Characters - 3
There appears to be a duality between the two main characters with one being laid back and the other being serious, which I think is a dynamic other people will enjoy while I personally didn't. Lizel has some hidden depths and he's interesting enough to follow around while he tries to figure out the world.

Story - 2.5
I found the story lackluster so far. The manga takes its sweet time fleshing out Lizel and Gil rather than focusing on a past-paced plot.
