This was a delightful summary of Charles Dickens' masterpiece. It flows really well and my son loved listening and looking at the pictures. The pictures are well done and cater to children extremely well. Some of the images were messed up, but I believe that might have just been an issue with my download. Great book for kids!

This book I think is well summarised for the kids with beautiful illustrations and it doesn’t let anything essential behind.
Perfectly understandable and we’re at the middle of the year, Christmas is around the corner.
The books is about Ebenezer Scrooge and old and bitter man how doesn’t care about anything else but the money. One day is visited by his only friend (who passed away 7 year before) to announce him that if he doesn’t change his fate will be exactly as him, without rest forever.
And for that he will receive the visit of three ghost to help him.
The ghost will show him his past, present and possible future ¿Will could this visits help to change the old bitter and miser Scrooge?

A Christmas Carol is a beloved favorite in our home as I'm sure in many others. However, I can't help but notice my kids eyes wondering when I read the original out loud to them each Christmas. This Easy Classics book is the perfect solution! The story is shortened but still stays true to the original's style of writing. The illustrations are comedic but also portray the scenes faithfully. This is a wonderful middle-grade version of a classic and I am eager to put it on our children's shelves.

This is a really sweet adaptation of A Christmas Carol. This illustrated and abbreviated version definitely preserves the story in a simplified way appropriate for children of all ages, especially small children. The illustration definitely feels more classic, and evokes a strange and wonderful combination of Dr. Seuss and The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy. The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come is one of the more unique characters, and its cloaked presence, first presented as a raven-like image, commands the end of the book. Slightly darker elements like this provide the story with a great amount of action without being too scary for kids- these are ominous but not completely terrifying touches. This adaptation is also very heart-warming, and near the end of the book I started to tear up. Definitely a great comfort read and a great way to get kids interested in the classics!

A Christmas Carol is a very dark book with ultimate redemption for old Scrooge. I was doubtful it could be made suitable for such a young audience.

However the text is clear and simple; waters nothing down and holds nothing back. This is the story Dickens wrote with the Ghost of Marley and the three Spirits. It is also cleverly illustrated capturing the text in vivid drawings which portray the unusual happenings of Christmas Eve in all their horror.

I wouldn’t hesitate to share this book with this age range from 7 years upwards. By 10 they will be reading it themselves and hopefully shortly thereafter tracking down Dickens for themselves.

A great deal of credit should go to this production that has married the creative talents of an adaptive writer with an original artist. Short of a Muppet adventure you’d wonder how it was possible to present this story in such an accessible way.

The story is recognisably still Dickens’ Classic and it opens his authorship to a wider audience. Simply guessing, many parents reading it to their kids may well not have read Dickens for themselves since a set book at school. (Mine was Oliver Twist and I’d gladly read that again in this exciting collection).

I love reading different versions of A Christmas Carol. Delving into it is always fascinating, and as a teacher, I do give my students the option to do a unit on it around the holiday season. I'm always looking for versions of the story that lend itself to younger readers.

I feel like this version hit the mark in relating the story and hitting onto the key points. I feel that in the beginning, there could have been a few more instances of Scrooge being the ill-tempered gentleman that he is so that younger readers can really understand the change that he had undergone by the end.

This is illustrated version of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol making it easy for children to read or to be read by parents to read for them. The illustrations are beautifully depicted capturing the essence of the original story.

It is about an arrogant old man named Scrooge who only cares about his work life and doesn't have any personal life. He is rude to everyone around him. People make fun of him and nobody likes him.

When Scrooge is haunted by the ghost of his old friend, he gets a chance to figure out his life. The ghosts teach him some very important lessons about life, its importance and a glimpse of past, present and future.

The moral of the story is very impactful. It's a very beautiful Christmas story which I am going to read every Christmas. I hope it will help the young readers to grasp the importance of living life to the fullest with the help of friends and family.

I received this ebook in exchange for an honest and fair review. This book was a retelling of the book “A Christmas Carol”. It was written for young children that is easier to understand. This book give the reader the opportunity to learn the lessons of the full book but in a gentler way. I enjoyed this book and could see it being used in a classroom or in a home with younger children.

I really enjoyed this book and the images used worked really well to illustrate it.

I know the story from other editions but was keen to give is one a go and I am go glad that I picked up a copy. The book is aimed at children ages 7 and above and I think they would really enjoy it.

It is 5 stars from me, the story was changed slightly towards the end to make it a little more age appropriate, but it was still fairly true to the original story - highly recommended!

A Christmas Carol by Philip Gooden is a short and accessible adaptation of a well-known classic, perfect for readers 7+. I enjoyed the illustrations which portrayed the more sinister side of the story whilst remaining age appropriate. I'd happily recommend this to younger readers interested in accessing classic novels and would like to read more in the series.

A Christmas Carol is one of the first stories I've enjoyed as a child. It took me quite a few re-reads though before I fully appreciated the story. I love how this edition makes it easier for younger readers to understand and appreciate the story and lessons written by Charles Dickens. The illustration is a bit wonky but I guess it will be enjoyed by children.

A wonderful adaptation of Dickens’ classic novel ‘A Christmas Carol’. I thought it was simplified really well without being over simplified and taking away from the message of the story. The illustrations were excellent and I think this will be a great edition for kids at Christmas time.

My favorite time of the school year is between Thanksgiving and winter break, because that is he I teach Christmas Carol. I loved this edition of A Christmas Carol, it is perfect for students who are low readers, ELL students, or students with reading disabilities. This book is perfect for upper grades elementary , mile, and high school. The story is easy to follow and the illustrations were great. I recommend this as an educator and fan of the story

A Christmas Carol by Lewis Carroll is a classic for a reason. Not only a meaningful read for children, but a meaningful one for adults. This book tells the classic story of the grumpy Ebenezer Scrooge who is visited by three ghosts in order to find happiness and find the joy of Christmas.

This adaptation by Philip Gooden is a great edition to give children for the holiday season. Highly recommend this book for Christmastime!

It's always interesting to see how they redo A Christmas Carol. This is one of my all-time favorite Christmas stories so I love seeing all the new versions that come out.

I loved the illustrations in this version and how they made it kid-friendly. The same message still came across all without it being too scary.

I'm interested to see how the publisher does this with the rest of Dicken's books as I know several of them get rather dark.

Highly recommend this book and its one that is easy enough for kids to read on their own.

For a long time I've wanted an accessible but still true to the original version of A Christmas Carol. This edition has ticked all the boxes. With expressive, black and white illustrations that add beautifully to the detail this is a perfect way to introduce young readers to the world of Charles Dickens. I will definitely be recommending these to many people and will be looking for the whole series myself. The books are long enough to provide good reading material with plenty of scope for discussion and analysis of language yet short enough to be completed within a reasonable time frame. Perfect for use in school guided reading sessions.

Who can help a mean old man to love Christmas?
I'm sure I could as I am the biggest christmas fan EVER... but on this occasion let's leave it to Philip Gooden who adapts classic literature into stories for children. This book is aimed at early readers 6-8 year olds and is just one of the classics in the group.....like Pride and Prejudice, Shakespeare and Austen.
I wanted to review this book as its my all time favourite story which I read every year, and I wondered out of curiosity if it was a possibility to introduce my god daughter to classics who has just turned six.
This adapted story has modern illustrations and is a great way to introduce children to some of our greatest authors of all time. But is this particular story suitable?
I found myself smiling throughout as I was reading this condensed book. Scrooge is colder than snow, he's richer than half the banks in England and meaner than, well everyone. But I wasn't sure how my just turned six year old little book worm would feel about so many spooky ghosts and all of them arriving on christmas eve.. Like anything with children related and their learning - they are all unique.
The answer is I think when she's 7/8 years old and has got through all her Roald Dahl books by herself and knows some people aren't always nice, then I would introduce it.
I loved, loved, loved this book and the idea of it and of all the other titles about to be released. I will definitely buy it for her when its published and maybe we will read it together. So I can be on hand to explain about ghostly things and questions.
The book is a gem and I will be looking out for all of Philip Gooden and the other Easy Classic publications.
I can't recommend it enough as a great way to introduce classics to children and I will be on the lookout to purchase some of the other books that will hit our books shops in October.

Text Adaptation Good, Illustrations Menacing

As you might guess from the series title, this is an easy-read adapted version of the Charles Dickens classic story about Ebenezer Scrooge. While it is somewhat abridged, the person who created this adaptation actually did a decent job getting the essence of the story and the emotions involved across. When I was a young child, I enjoyed my father's collection of classic comics, so I am partial to special retellings of classic tales made just for children. I do have a problem with the illustrations, though. For one thing, they are all in black and white. I don't understand why they chose to go that way with this book. The illustrations are certainly able to convey that creepy feel that A Christmas Carol has, but some illustrations—in part because of the strict black and white—seem menacing and could easily frighten a younger child, I would imagine. Frankly, the illustrations are just too dark, figuratively speaking, for a children's book. The exact same illustrations appropriately colored, I believe, would not appear so heavy and inappropriate for a children’s book, though perhaps some illustrations still would. So, while I like the author's adaptation of the text for children, I do not care for the illustrations because they appear too harsh and potentially scary for a children's book—especially one for Christmas.
