A joyous read that lets you feel it is ok to slow down and enjoy the life around you. Evergreen is the small town we all dream of living in during the Christmas season. A much-needed book for the crazy year we have all experienced.

All three books in the Christmas in Evergreen are a treat that is best enjoyed with a hot cup of cocoa piled high with marshmallows and a cozy blanket. Each can be read as a standalone.

I received a complimentary copy from the publisher, Hallmark Publishing, through NetGalley. All opinions expressed in the above review are entirely my own.

The more that I read this book, the more familiar the story became to me. Eventually, I realized that I had seen the movie upon which this book is based on the Hallmark Channel last year. The sweet story begins as Katie heads to the town of Evergreen for a week’s vacation. She has been struggling to come up with an idea for her second novel, and hopes this trip will give her some fresh ideas.

Ben is returning home to Evergreen, when he meets Katie on the train. He realizes that there is something about her that he can’t quite describe. He becomes more interested in her the more he gets to know her during her stay in Evergreen.

However, Ben wonders how they could possibly have a successful relationship with her living in New York City and him living in a small town in Vermont. Can two people who are each at a crossroads find a way to connect in the future?

Thank you to NetGally for providing an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I wasn't 100% sure what to expect with this book- I know that a lot of Hallmark movies are based on books, but I hadn't heard of any books based on a Hallmark movie. This worked perfectly, though. I felt like I was in Evergreen again, and I was even more immersed in the town than I am with the movies. (And the movies are some of my favourites each year!) I loved that we got more insight into Katie's thoughts, and some of the other characters. We also just had more time with everyone, and that is never a bad thing in Evergreen. If you love the Evergreen movies or Hallmark movies in general, or even just need a break from the stress and chaos that is 2020, Christmas in Evergreen by Nancy Naigle is perfect for you!

Christmas in Evergreen: Tidings of Joy by Nancy Naigle is a holiday book based on the original Hallmark movie. If you enjoy a small town romance that takes place during the Christmas season, then this is one to add to your reading list. It is a fun and entertaining story that will put you into the spirit of the season.

I have to admit that I have yet to watch this movie, so I can’t compare the book to the film, but the descriptions and overall feel of the story are classic Hallmark. The book is told in multiple perspectives, however it mostly focuses on Katie. She is a writer looking for an inspiring place to work on her novel. While Katie is in Evergreen she winds up being commissioned to write a story about the town for her mother’s magazine. This turn of events changes her entire perspective of people and the magic of Christmas.

❀ SMALL TOWN SETTING

What is one of the most enjoyable aspects of the movie is its small town setting. There is no end to its holiday charm and Christmas magic. It is a place that exudes the holiday spirit, complete with a snow globe that grants wishes and a holiday train that takes tourists from the city into town. Also, the discovery of a 50 year old time capsule just before the holidays adds a nostalgic and old fashioned feeling to the novel.

❀ SLOW-BURN ROMANCE

As with many Hallmark stories, this one focuses on the themes of self-discovery and finding true love. The slow-burn romance between Katie and Ben is really sweet to read and there are lots of cute moments, including tree decorating, cookie baking and carolling. When things start to heat up, both characters need to look inwards and make some hard choices.

❀ CHRISTMAS MAGIC

Christmas in Evergreen: Tidings of Joy by Nancy Naigle is a wonderful read that really puts you in the holiday spirit. It is a nice break from the chaos in the world right now. A definite must-read for anyone who enjoys a happy ending and lots of Christmas magic.

Welcome back to Evergreen, Vermont for the 3rd installment in the Hallmark Christmas in Evergreen series. Each of the books is based on an endearing Hallmark Christmas movie. The book is written by the queen of the Christmas Romance, Nancy Naigle, and certainly does not disappoint. This sweet story starts with journalist Katie arriving from New York City on the "Christmas" train, the Evergreen Express, for a sabbatical of sorts in the charming town of Evergreen. Katie wants to experience the renowned spirit of Christmas in Evergreen and write a magazine story on its charming residents and the town's many festivities during the holiday season. Can the town truly be as magical as it is portrayed? While in Evergreen, she hopes to find inspiration to write not only the magazine story but also for her second novel. Of course, there is a budding romance that develops between Katie and Ben, an Evergreen resident whom she meets on the train on her way into town. We also get to pleasantly catch up with several characters from the previous Evergreen novels. This is a well-written and fun book, I really enjoyed returning to Evergreen for this third cozy Hallmark Christmas story.

Anyone who knows me knows that I love Hallmark Christmas movies. They also know that I love reading. So... a novelization of one of the most popular Hallmark movie series? Naturally, I couldn't wait to check it out.

In this book, we meet Katie, an author who is on the search for her second novel, as she makes her way to Evergreen, Vermont. On the train, she meets local Evergreenian Ben who is more than a little skeptical about Katie's intentions in Evergreen. Still, as they arrive- the magic of the town certainly does have a way of drawing people together. With a broken snow globe, a town mystery and loads of Christmas traditions, it's truly hard not to fall in love with this sweet holiday romance.

If the plot sounds familiar, that is again because this is a novelization of an Evergreen movie from last year. As much as I love the movies, I will almost always prefer a book over movie. Books allow us to dig deeper into what the character ISN'T saying, allowing us to get to know them so much better... at least in my opinion. While I normally prefer book first then movie, I still thoroughly enjoyed this book and found it to be a great way to revisit a favorite holiday town.

Overall, this was a quick and fun holiday romance that Hallmark fans are sure to enjoy this holiday season.

**I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley for consideration. All thoughts are my own.

What a joyful and clever edition of the Christmas in Evergreen collection. Nancy Naigle weaves a lovely tale of beloved familiar townsfolk and newcomers while intertwining new mysterious treasures throughout. Added humor and a bonus recipe add to the festive enjoyment. Add this sweet book to your holiday reading.

I received a complimentary copy of the book without obligation. This review is my opinion.

Christmas in Evergreen is too good to be true. It must be manufactured in order to appeal to tourists. At least that’s what Katie thinks when she arrives by train 1225 from New York for a much-needed rest. She’s hoping the relaxation will inspire here to write her second novel. Her first novel was a success but she’s having trouble starting her second novel.

What she doesn’t expect is that the people of Evergreen would take her into their lives and hearts and show her a true old-fashioned Christmas. Along the way, romance appears in the person of Ben, a writer who lives in Evergreen. Together they experience Christmas at its finest, while helping the town residents solve the mystery of a time capsule that may or may not exist.

It’s difficult to turn a book into a movie, but it can be more difficult to turn a movie into a book, but Nancy Naigle has done a wonderful job. There is enough of the movie content, but also back story that fleshes out the events and characters. I loved the movie and I loved the book, something that doesn’t always go hand-in-hand for me. Unlike many movie/book pairs, you can watch/read either first and not spoil the experience.

This is the third movie/book in the series and I’ve enjoyed all three. I received a copy of the book from NetGalley and the publisher. The opinion is my own.

This is as heartwarming as reading a Hallmark movie. I enjoy this series that takes place in the small town of Evergreen in Vermont. This can be read as a stand-alone, but I found myself getting slightly distracted and confused by all of the previously introduced characters that made appearances in this book. This had a bit of a mystery and was full of holiday love and cheer.

I enjoyed my return to Evergreen and its sweet, small-town romance. Evergreen has gained a reputation for its Christmas spirit, making it a popular tourist destination. Looking for a chance to clear her head and maybe find some inspiration for her second book, Katie travels to Evergreen for a holiday break. After years of city life, Katie is a little skeptical about the town's reputation, believing that it is a show put on for the tourists. On the train, she meets Ben, a born and bred Evergreen resident.

Ben is a former Chicago journalist who returned to Evergreen five years earlier to take care of his injured grandmother, Nan, and never left. A little burned out on his reporting career, he turned his attention to helping Nan at the town library. Lately, he's felt the urge to return to his career, and when he meets Katie, he has just had an unsatisfactory interview for a New York City reporting job.

I liked the first meeting between Ben and Katie. She is snapping pictures right and left on the train until her phone runs out of charge. When she looks for an outlet for her charger, the train's lurch sends her falling straight into Ben. There's a fun bit of semi-flirty back-and-forth between them, as Ben counters her skepticism with his knowledge of the town. Though they part ways as they exit the train, it's a small town, so you know they'll see each other again.

I enjoyed the development of the relationship between Ben and Katie. Katie quickly found herself enmeshed in the town's activities, frequently in Ben's company. He seems determined to show her the truth of the town's Christmas spirit, and Katie's skepticism dies a pretty quick death. There are some sweet scenes of them together, from cookie making to ice skating to snowman building. Their interest in each other grows the more time they spend together, but there are obstacles neither can forget. Katie is only there for a visit, and Ben doesn't see himself leaving any time soon. I ached for them both when it was time for her to leave Evergreen. Even Ben's visit to the city didn't turn out the way I expected, though I was sure they'd find a way back to each other. I loved the twist at the end that did just that, and it was the perfect ending for the book.

A recurring theme was the search for a fifty-year-old advent calendar that is part of the town's history. I loved the creative method of hiding the clue and the unexpected way it was revealed. The town's enthusiasm for the tasks they carried out was fun to watch and made me feel as though I were right there with them. The final task was a surprise, but it made a lot of sense and was a perfect wrap up when I thought about it.

The secondary characters are all an important part of the story. Some of them starred in the previous two books, so it was nice to catch up with them. Romance is in the air for more than just Ben and Katie. A broken snowglobe brings love to two unsuspecting people while the town's new mayor waits for her sweetheart to return from his out-of-town business. The Christmas Eve ceremony provides several surprises that warm the heart.

Christmas in Evergreen: Tidings of Joy is the third novel in the Christmas in Evergreen series by Nancy Naigle. In this novel, New York writer Katie Connell decides to spend a week in Evergreen, Vermont, to soak in their Christmas presence and seek a direction for her second novel. Unfortunately, her mother, editor of a business magazine, has asked Katie to write an article about Evergreen from a business angle, something she really does not want to do but she also doesn’t want to disappoint her mother.

On the Evergreen Express, the direct train from New York City to Evergreen, she meets Evergreen local Ben Baxter. Ben is currently working with his grandmother, Nan, in the family owned Evergreen Library. What he doesn’t say is that he had been a successful reporter in Chicago prior to a devastating divorce when he returned home, and he is currently looking for a new reporting position in New York City.

Katie is rather skeptical that Evergreen could possibly be what it seems. After all, if something seems to be too good to be true, it probably is, right? But as she makes the acquaintance of the local residents and becomes part of their Christmas mystery and celebrations, she thinks perhaps she was wrong.

Again a very heartwarming story from Ms. Naigle and the folks at Hallmark. With wonderful characters and a beautiful setting together with a perfect holiday location, this is a lovely read. I did enjoy this book and I do recommend it!

A sugar cookie of a book, based on the Hallmark original movie of the same name. Katie, a New York City-based author and journalist, arrives in Evergreen, Vermont, eager to start gathering ideas for her next book. When her mother asks for a favor --- use this trip to write an article on the Christmas town for her business magazine --- Katie reluctantly agrees. Surrounded by a close-knit community where (cue Cheers theme) everybody knows your name and is engaged in well-timed festivities, she develops mixed feelings of skepticism (is it all too good to be true? A marketing campaign in disguise?) and delight and excitement (especially where Evergreenian and fellow journalist Ben is concerned). Couples and denizens from the series' previous books/movies contribute to the story's festive and sweet atmosphere. A charming surprise propels the story and burgeoning relationship between Katie and Ben forward. If you've enjoyed this Hallmark series and/or like Nancy Naigle's previous novels (see Secret Ingredient), you'll find much to appreciate.

When a surprise encounter leads to something else
"Christmas in Evergreen: Tidings of Joy. Based on the Hallmark Channel Original Movie" by USA Today best-selling author Nancy Naigle was published by Hallmark Publishing. Joe and Carol Shaw own a magical snow globe in their Chris Kringle Kitchen coffee shop in Evergreen, Vermont. Ben Baxter is traveling on the Evergreen Express that links New York and Evergreen to return to his hometown. He is an author, but he also loves to help Nan at the library there, helping the kids bond with books. This is a satisfying job for him. Katie Connell accidentally drops into his lap on her way to find a possibility to charge her phone on the train. She is curious about the stories linked to the snow globe, not only because of the research for her next job as a reporter. Will the meeting of Katie and Ben lead to something more? An what about the mystery in town?
This is the third book by Nancy Naigle which I read and I can highly recommend it for lovers of Christmas romance novels. It is easy to read and has honest, believable and wholesome characters. Furthermore, as do the Hallmark books, it contains the recipe for Cranberry Crostini.
The complimentary copy of this book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley free of charge. I was under no obligation to offer a positive review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This book has all the great things a Christmas story should have, romance, small town, family, friends and a fun mystery to solve and enjoy. This book will get you in the Christmas spirit.

This story continues on from other books but you can read this as stand alone.

It is a charming Christmas story about a town called Evergreen. They have a Christmas tradition going for 50 years..

We have Katie who is a visitor having a break to decide on what she is going to write her second book. She seems to really like Evergreen.. we also have Ben who used to work in the City and helps his Nan out at the library, he wants to get a job back in journalism will he siucceed.

This is a nice light hearted read I haven't seen the film for this book but might be quite nice to see it.

QOTD: how soon is too soon for holiday reading? 🎄

This is only the second time I’ve read a book that was based on a movie, but the first time that I have without seeing the movie first.

If you like hallmark movies, this is 💯 the cozy Christmas read for you. It’s just been the perfect way to throw myself into the cheeriness of the holiday spirit despite my country being a complete hot mess right now. @nancynaigle, well done ❄️

What a welcome distraction! Thank you @hallmarkpublish and @netgalley for this gifted e-book (yes, totally took this photo at target for a irl cover shot 😂)
