Ben Boyce and Adhi Chaudry are roommates at Stanford. They develop incredible technology that allows users to see one year into the future. Their company, The Future, provides users with a connection to the Internet one year in the future. What will a user find if they surf the future Internet?

Their company and its technology come under fire. The most important question is: Does the technology really work? A Congressional hearing examines the company and its technology.

I enjoyed the 4.5+ hours I spent reading this 339-page science fiction novel. The novel has an unusual format. Most of it comes through emails, texts, and hearing transcripts. I am not a fan of the chosen cover art. I give this novel a rating of 4.5 (rounded to 5) out of 5.

I loved the premise of this book. I had really high hopes that I would love this book. What I didn't realize before I started reading was that it was written through different emails, transcripts, etc. I had a difficult time getting into the book because of this concept.

That being said, a lot of people loved this book, so you might enjoy it as well.

I've tried to read this book a few times and it doesn't seem to stick with me. I definitely believe this is a case of the reader and not the book.

This is most definitely a "what if" kind of story. What if these two young men who have nothing in common except a quantum concept could actually bring it to market? What if it really worked and you could see what your future one year ahead looked like? What if everyone could see their future? Would it stay the same or will it change as the predictions influence the actions of those that "look"?
Told through the use of media posts and news articles, we watch as these two men who were not friends, become enemies of their own technology. Will their future stay constant or will they rip apart the fabric that exists because we dont' know what will come about tomorrow? This was a very good, very quick read. Once you start, the "what if" will keep you trying to figure out their next move. Can you?

The format of this story is fantastic, told through emails, transcripts, blogs, texts, is brilliant and fun. The story is based on two young men who create a computer that can predict the future. This is a fun, sci-fi, story that is more in the genre of speculative fiction and is a fun read. Some Ready Player One vibes, but also different. It is based on the brilliant device that they created together but it is also about their friendship and other ethical issues.
Fun and interesting read that I think speculative fiction lovers will enjoy.

This science fiction, time travel-thriller narrative is told through emails, transcripts, blogs, text messages, reports, and letters. This nontraditional format took some time to settle into. While I appreciate the author assuming his reader is smart enough to follow this format I kept wondering about this choice. Was this narrative style choice used because a traditional narrative would be too long for the volume of information conveyed, or were the characters simply too weak to sustain it? The former college friends Ben Boyce and Adhi Chaudry are too cookie cutter and predictable as protagonists. My interest in the time travel theme is what kept me reading to the end and not my attachment to any of the characters.
I enjoyed how quantum mechanics and hard science bits were parceled out in a manner that was palatable and interesting to the reader.

I've never thought time travel was a good idea. This speculative novel reinforces that -- sometimes knowing too much is a very bad thing. I couldn't help but cheer on the protagonists, despite how they were playing with fire. "The Future Is Yours" is a thought-provoking jaunt into the possibilities told through emails and texts and other communications -- a quick, fascinating read.

The Future Is Yours is a really interesting story with a mixed media style narrative that will have you turning pages quickly and asking yourself questions along the way. This one reminded me a lot of The Social Network, and I think it brings similar themes and discussion points- making this one a really great book for book club!

I don't typically read a lot of sci-fi books, bit this one was pretty solid. A few questions should've been answered, but overall a good read. I liked this one and I would definitely recommend it to others!

3.5 stars. I don’t read a lot of science fiction but I enjoyed this book. It was really interesting, but I do wish it explained a little more about why The Future would cause what it eventually caused. I didn’t quite see the connection as a strong enough one.

I liked the characters and I enjoyed the way the book was presented. I was afraid when I started it that I wouldn’t like reading a book made up completely of emails, transcripts, IMs, etc. However, it didn’t take away from the story for me and it actually made sense in the end.

I do wish there had been a little more focus on the technology that they created and less on their personal lives, but I suppose the author was trying to show how the technology changed their personal lives.

Even though I didn’t understand the technical jargon, I thought the addition of it made it more authentic; like that a machine like this could actually one day be built.

This was an enjoyable and quick read.

I wanted to like this book but I did not. Sorry, its just not for me. A little scattered and hard to follow at first but I had hoped it would get better. I just didn't like it.

I tried really hard with this book. The description seemed good but I just bounced off of it really hard. Maybe I’d seen too many similar books at the time? Maybe the writing style just didn’t click for me? I’m not sure, but this book was the opposite of unputdownable. Sorry! Maybe someone else will like it.

Unfortunately this book was not for me. I tried when I was first approved and gave it a chance a few time after and it never grasped me. Formatting was also weird!

I really love the idea of an epistolary novel, and I feel like this one was done really well. We are being told this story through a court hearing transcript with evidence in the form of emails, texts, etc. The basic premise of a computer that could tell you the future within one year was very intriguing to me. It raised some interesting ethical points. I do feel like this could have been a little shorter, the last third until closer to the end was dragging for me a bit. Overall I enjoyed this one and am looking forward to the HBO max adaptation.

Two best friends create a computer that can predict the future. But what they can’t predict is how it will tear their friendship—and society—apart. It is currently being made into a HBO MAX Original Series. It's a book that will definitely make you think.
