I was surprised at this book. It has been a very long time since I've read a Harlequin Romance title. But the description was intriguing so gave it a try. I enjoyed the characters and the storyline was well written.

Wow! There was a lot of action in this book by Nichole Severn. Our male protagonist was Vincent Kalani, a member of Blackhawk Security member who does work for hire. When he was up in Alaska working on a case, he spent time with Anchorage PD officer, Shea Ramsey. She did not like working with someone who she considered to be a vigilante. She was an officer and she did her best to uphold the law and help people. She decided she did not like working with him….but….
One day Shea and Vincent found themselves on the same plane from Anchorage to New York City. Shea had some personal business to take care of and Vincent got a lead on a former case. Then the action started. Their plane went down and they were stranded out in the middle of nowhere in the mountains of Alaska. They did have some gear, but not enough. Shea was realizing that she needed to trust Vincent if they wanted to get out of there alive. Both Shea and Vincent thought their plane was sabotaged, but for different reasons. What they did know was that a group of armed men were shooting at them. The injuries keep piling up and the reader really begins to doubt that they will be able to get out of the Alaskan wilderness.
The action was off the charts. The setting was really descriptive. I swear I was cold and needed a blanket as I was reading how cold it was in Alaska. The descriptions were that good. I would say the romance is a slow burn, but I guess since they were fighting for their lives, that makes sense. The focus was really on the criminal investigation and corrupt cops. The author also spent time exploring Shea’s experience with post-partum depression and I feel like the reader will really feel for Shea. Definitely a good read when you need some heart stopping action. You won’t be able to put it down until the story is finished.

Who are Vincent and Shea? What do they each do for a living? Where are each headed and why? What was Vincent's job back in NYC? How did he end up in Alaska? What happens when he tries to get on a flight? Who else shows up? Talk about a storyline that kept my body tense as I read it, holy smokes! Who are Logan and Wells? What happens that Logan changes his tune a bit with regards to Shea? You have to read this story to see what happens and who is actually behind it all! I was SHOCKED!

This series just insists on keeping readers on the edge of their seats! This story is an action packed crime thriller with Blackhawk operative Vincent Kalani planning on returning to New York to continue his investigations into who was behind the murder of his colleagues in an incident in which he was badly burnt. However, he’s surprised to discover Police Officer Shea Ramsey on the same flight. The two have worked together on several cases but she’s a by the book officer who seems to have a low opinion of the Blackhawk team, assuming they stretch the law – and break it – at times. However, when their airplane crashes into the Alaskan mountains the two will need to work together to survive – especially as the crash was no accident and someone is out to get them . . . . they’re fighting to survive not only the weather conditions but those who want them dead.

This is another superb romantic suspense with great characters and plenty of dramatic action. It is a story of expectations, uncertainly, betrayal, trust, danger and deceit – a great read I recommend to anyone who enjoys this genre.

Thanks to Harlequin and NetGalley for my copy of this book which I have voluntarily read and honestly reviewed.

Good book with non-stop, page-turning action from the very beginning. This is the sixth book in the Blackhawk Security Elite Protection series, but can easily be read as a stand-alone. I haven't read the first books and had no trouble reading this one, though I definitely want to read the others.

Vincent is a former NYPD forensics investigator who left New York for Alaska after an investigation that killed two coworkers and nearly killed him. However, he has never given up his quest to find the person responsible. He recently found some new information that sends him back to New York to investigate. He was surprised to find local cop Shea already on the plane when he arrived at the airport. Shea is a by-the-book police officer. After a year of getting her life back together, she is on her way to New York to fight for custody of her son. She is not happy to see Vincent.

The dynamics between Vincent and Shea were interesting. Shea has been tasked to work with Blackhawk Security several times, usually with Vincent. Vincent is intrigued by and attracted to Shea, and unknown to her, had requested to work with her. Shea hates anything to do with Blackhawk. She looks down on them for skirting the law when it suits their purposes. When their plane crashes shortly after takeoff, Shea and Vincent must work together to survive. "Survive together. Die alone."

This is where things get a little over-the-top crazy. The plane crash was no accident, and someone has it in for either Vincent or Shea. As if the crash weren't bad enough, they are pursued by a group of hitmen determined to stop them at all costs. The physical abuse which both Vincent and Shea endure would have left any average person hospitalized for weeks, but our two heroes power right through it. I did like seeing Shea learn to trust Vincent as they fought for their lives.

I loved that once they were rescued, Vincent had to face the music with the rest of his team. He was so worried about risking their lives by involving them in his investigation that he kept his distance from them. I loved seeing them remind him that he had saved all of their lives at some point over his time with the team and that it was their turn to help him. Shea was also included in the protection because of threats against her son.

The craziness continued when they reached New York. Vincent's investigation involved a sub-group of corrupt cops, and his determination to find out who was running the show. The intensity of the action picks up even further as Vincent and Shea run into trouble at their first stop. There are some interesting twists as Vincent and Shea begin to close in on the truth. The final confrontation was a nail-biter with multiple life-threatening moments. I enjoyed seeing the head of the corrupt cops get what was coming. I loved the comment that "The district attorney was going to make himself a hell of a career with this one."

I enjoyed seeing the development of the relationship between Vincent and Shea. From the start, Vincent thought that Shea was strong, intelligent, and generally amazing. Shea thought of herself as broken, and as she and Vincent grew closer was afraid of what would happen if he knew the truth. I loved the ending, as he demonstrated the depth of his love and belief in her. I cheered when Shea realized that she had Vincent's love no matter what. I also loved the final scene with shea's ex-husband, who also saw the changes in her.

Blackhawk operative Vincent and and police officer Shea are on a plane together when it crashes. Now Vincent must use his skills to keep them alive in the Alaskan Mountains till they find safety as well as find out who tampered with the plane. Its clear someone wants to take them down and wont stop still they are and figure out who they are after.

This book was such a fun ride from start to beginning there was just so much going on that it became hard to put this book down. There was the whole plane crash being lost in the wilderness with the lack of supplies and the possible chance of avalanche making things tough, then there was the question of who is the person really after Vincent of was working on a side case that maybe someone would want him silenced or maybe Shea's ex having an issue with her. There were close calls twists and turns and everything you'd want in a action packed. Really enjoyed this book!

This is a book in the Harlequin Intrigue line by Nichole Severn.

This book was pretty convoluted in truth. There was a ton of backstory that happened before the story even started. I felt like I was struggling to keep up. I wasn’t exactly sure how connected Vincent and Shea were but she had a son he didn’t know about so I assumed not as connected as I initially thought.

Shea is heading to New York to go to a hearing so she can retain joint custody with her ex-husband. Apparently, her big secret that has a mental health overtone is what kept her from being the best mom she could be. A lot of the problems she had were of her own making due to this mental health problem. Vincent got burned pretty badly previous to this story starting and it impacted him greatly. Both of these characters have wounds, whether visible or not that have kept them from living their best life.

Life has come full circle here when Vincent’s past collides with Shea’s and they are running for their lives in the mountains, evading the bad guys, trying not to freeze to death and get back to civilization alive.

Definitely a thrilling read. I wish the story had started earlier so I could have learned a lot more about these characters and their pasts.

If you like romantic suspense, definitely check this one out. You won’t be disappointed.

I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.

Oh my this one set in one of the places I want to go one day if possible. Vincent and Shea are going to draw our attention and take us on their quest. I myself could not imagine being stranded like this but then again I do get to experience it through these two. We will be stuck like glue to them we also come to know they do know each other. Funny thing is they both have this secret about the other and their feelings for them. This was not a crash that was a accident but one of a different kind and we will be front and foremost holding on to see if they survive, plus they both have some high motivators to help in it too.

To start off readers I am warning you now you need to seriously suspend reality when it comes to this book and the human body. I was laughing at one point thinking ok this is insane and no even based in anyway reality. Lets face it there is only so much a human body can do before you are just dead and these two take it to the extreme.

The story is what you expect from Harlequin and in a way disappointing because the author doesn't delivery on what readers might be expecting. Unless bodies that are completely broken having romance is what you expect then ignore this post and enjoy the book.

I enjoy a quick fast pace romantic suspense but Nichole Severn takes it to a ridicule level of crazy that is hard to enjoy.

Thank you to Netgalley and Harlequin Intrigue publisher for the advance copy of Nichole Severn The Line of Duty.

The Line of Duty was fast-paced action from the first page to the last.

Shea Ramsey has found her way out of a dark cloud that she thought would never let her go. She's leaving Alaska to go to New York to fight for her son. She doesn't expect to be sharing the plane with Vincent, someone she's worked with over the last year, and secretly credits for helping her find her way back to life.

Vincent finally has a clue to the crime he's been trying to solve for a year. To be sure, he has to return to New York where the crime happened. When he climbed on the plane in Alaska, he wasn't expecting the only other passenger to be Shea Ramsey. He's had a secret crush on her for the last year while they've worked together on cases in Anchorage. He's part of a team that has no boundaries. She's part of a team that does. None of that matters when the plane crashes. Left alone in the wilderness of Alaska to survive, Shea and Vincent have to work together to find their way back to civilization and safety. They just weren't expecting the team of hitmen sent out to make sure the crash took their lives.

Fair warning, I love Nichole's books, but you do have to suspend a serious amount of reality with this one when it comes to the massive amount of damage these two people sustain to their bodies and remain alive.

The Line of Duty was well-written, fast-paced, and a page-turner, even if you figure out who the ringleader is of the people after Vincent and Shea. Learning what the endgame is and how Vincent got caught up in it is the reveal you're waiting for at the end. Nichole always keeps her stories tight, but this one had enough romance in it to keep you engaged in the characters and make you root for the couple to find happiness as much as you root for them to survive the torture she inflicts on them. This is book six in the series and I had no problem following it without having read the previous five. If you love fast action and a hero who will do anything to protect the woman he loves, you'll want to read The Line of Duty.
