Book three of the Forgotten Brotherhood is...awesome! I think this was my fav in the series thus far. Do you need to read any of the previous? Nope. This works on its own. Entirely enjoyed Asher, the eons old vampire as he falls for the vampire hunter, Jo. Spunky kickass heroine and a virtually invincible hero join forces to figure out who's behind the scenes bringing them together. There are steamy moments and some excellent heat between the characters.
This is a great read to get your PNR fix.

A chance meeting at a vampire gathering brings vampire Asher and vampire hunter Jo together. They eventually realize ending up in the same location at the same time may not be random at all. Asher and Jo then try to figure out exactly who is behind their mysterious emails. Coming up empty, Asher wracks his brain and uses his intense hacking skills to trace the email address that keeps contacting him, Jo, and others anonymously. His hacking prowess unwittingly begins a chain reaction and more lives become endangered.

Just when I thought this series couldn't get any better (it's magnificent, btw), N.J. Walters goes and ups the game again! I think Asher is my favorite member of the Brotherhood. Hot vampire - check. Compassionate - check. Protective - check. Sense of humor - check. He's been around for centuries and, while he's taken many lovers, no one wiggled their way into his heart until Jo Radcliffe.

Jo is a bit standoffish. She's been a loner for a very long time and knows the only person she can depend on is herself. When she comes face-to-face with sex on a stick she fights the attraction from the bossy, sexy man as long as she can. His willingness to protect her and take care of her eventually wins her over. They work well together but when events escalate, she's not sure they are meant to be.

Burning Ash is an amazing paranormal novel. The author provides a story with more twists, turns, and events the reader won't see coming, keeping the reader completely engaged, and I was. I enjoyed the path Asher and Jo had to travel in order to get to their ultimate destinations. I loved how the continued storyline makes a dramatic collision in Burning Ash. Someone is out to destroy the Forgotten Brotherhood from the inside out and the attempts continue to increase. It might be time for the Brotherhood, who keep themselves at a distance from one another, to come together to fight what's coming.

The author crafted a unique world and a story that was intriguing, and full of mystery, suspense, action, and wonderful characters. I was easily drawn into the book and found myself immersed. I look forward to the next book. While each book is listed as a stand alone, they all do tie together and I highly recommend you read them in order.

This is the third book in the series. It can be read as a standalone but it helps to read the whole series to get a sense as to who else is involved and some of the back stories. Here we follow another of the brotherhood, Asher as he and fellow vampire hunter Jo, are sent emails that can’t be traced sending them to random places where rogue vampires are meeting up. We learn the back stories of both Asher and Jo as they team up to thwart whoever is attacking them and the brotherhood. There are more gods introduced from more pantheons, which I love. The author finds a way to include different religious beliefs and histories into one story and explains it all quite well. I’m intrigued with where things will go next and who else in the brotherhood will be introduced. This book is fast paced, action packed, and full of witty banter. The world building is amazing and I am thoroughly hooked on this series. Awesome job!!

Action packed, a mystery that kept me wondering what would happen next. I loved Jo's fierce spirit and Asher's wit. He was completely besotted. This was the first of the Forgotten Brotherhood novels I've read and I can't wait to read the first two!

Stupendous series of exceptional beings doing good things…and some bad, but hey…
In this book we are introduced again to Asher, an ancient vampire, whose happy-go-lucky attitude could fool you into thinking that he’s not all that serious. BUT, get him riled, whew! That’s a different story. We’ve met Asher before as a secondary character in FURY UNLEASHED but finally, he gets his own book opposite the vampire hunter, Jo Radcliffe, whose happy family had been decimated by vampires. Now she wants to rid the world of all of them. Their attraction is undeniable but he’s immortal and she’s very mortal. What could ever happen between this unlikely couple?
The Forgotten Brotherhood is a select group of immortal assassins. What sets them apart is that they investigate every hit they are given and only perform the job if it is a just kill. They kill the monsters of the world, never the innocent, which brings us back to Jo. Somebody is setting her up. A contract has been placed on her head. How can the Brotherhood keep her safe? Is it Jo who is in danger or is the Brotherhood? So many questions.
This book was so hard to put down. It is well-written, fast-paced, funny and passionate. Honestly, you will want to skip ahead to see what happens…Don't. So many revelations and new characters as well as getting reacquainted with “old friends” from previous books. I hope our next book is about the huge (everywhere;-) werewolf, Bjorn who makes an appearance here when the Brotherhood band together to fight the ultimate foe.
I volunteered to review and ARC of this book through Entangle/NetGalley and it comes highly recommended if you like immortal men falling for the women of their “dreams.” Love the cover too! I would give it more than 5 stars if I could.

In ‘Burning Ash’ we meet Asher, one of the oldest vampires around. As part of the brotherhood and as old as he is, he really stays by himself a lot. There isn’t a lot that sparks his interest anymore. But when he receives an mysterious email, luring him to a place filled with young vampires, he can’t resist to check it out. What he finds is Jo Radcliffe. Jo is a vampire hunter and a woman unlike Asher has ever seen. She is beautiful, but also tough and feisty and for as young as she is.. She seems to be all alone in life. And Asher feels an instant attraction to her. And a drive to keep her save above all else.

From the moment I started reading ‘Burning Ash’ I was hooked. This is just such a fun, sexy, romantic and thrilling series and it kept me interested right from the very first page. Asher and Jo are two very different characters, but they have an instant connection and although they have this major bump between them (vampire vs vampire hunter), you just know they are meant to be together.

Just as in the previous two books, things move rather fast in the romance part. But I for one didn’t have any problems with this. I loved the chemistry between Asher and Jo. And there where definitely some fun and sexy moments between these two.

My favorite character in this book is definitely Asher. Although I loved Jo too, especially since she is such a tough woman.. Asher was just so good. His character is ancient, but I loved to read how much he felt for Jo and how human he always seemed to be. My heart really ached for him and I loved his character just so much.

Thrilling wise this book also definitely kept you sitting on the edge of your seat. There is someone out there wanting to kill Jo, and to make trouble for the brotherhood and it was definitely thrilling to read. A lot is happening, and we also get to read a little about the characters from the first book. And we get a glimpse of someone we get to read about in another book perhaps?

‘Burning Ash’ was definitely a very fun read. I loved the paranormal aspects and just everything about it.

This is the third book in the Forgotten Brotherhood series and after really loving the first two books I was excited to read this one.

Asher (Ash) gets an anonymous email telling him that a vampire is killing people and while he doesn't usually check these things out, he does this time. While he hides in the shadows watching the vampire, a hunter walks in and attacks the vampire. Asher isn't your average vampire since he's thousands of years old and very powerful. Things don't usually intrigue him after having lived so long but the female hunter sure grabbed his attention right away. Asher is a member of the Forgotten Brotherhood and he gets sent out to deal with paranormals that cause problems and break rules.

Jo is a vampire hunter and wants all of them eliminated. She got the same anonymous email that Ash did and that's how they met. Jo hates vampires but Asher tried to help her kill the vampire that was killing innocent people so they end up hanging out a little bit.

These two are polar opposites but little by little they realize that there's something between them. Ash doesn't understand why he feels such a pull to protect her but there's no fighting it or the attraction he feels for her. Jo doesn't realize right way that he's a vampire because he can walk in the sun for one thing and he eats regular human food. I wasn't sure that a vampire hunter and a vampire could have a strong relationship but once Jo realizes that they are fighting for the same thing, she let's her guard down a little.

Jo can kick as much bad guy butt as Ash and I loved how strong she is. We get to see some of the people from the first book which I loved. It's always nice to see how the people in the previous books are doing. There's a little bit of a twist and a little danger but Ash wasn't going to let anything happen to her if he could help it. I like that we get someone new in this book and I really hope we see more of him soon because he's intriguing. Once again I ended up loving another book in this series.

Disclosure: I was given an ARC of this book via NetGalley but all thoughts and opinions are my own

I’m hooked on this series! N.J. Walters’ Forgotten Brotherhood Series is an exciting, unique and smoking hot paranormal series and BURNING ASH is the third book in the series. Asher was steamy hero material and Jo was a strong heroine. Their story had danger, passion, and great characters. Each book in this series can be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading them in order to get the full series storyline. I love N.J. Walters’s writing style. It’s easy to get drawn into the worlds she creates and get lost for a while. I highly recommend this series for paranormal romance lovers.

For quite a while, I’ve said–and believed–that I was not a big paranormal/paranormal romance fan with the exception of the Twilight series. My kindle book collection would determine that is a lie. What I am when it comes to paranormal is very choosy. But I’m working on expanding my book palate, so at the recommendation of a trusted book world friend, I decided to give Burning Ash a try. (I’m also a bit of a cover whore, and this cover more than caught my attention!) Burning Ash is also a romantic suspense (even if it is paranormal), and as a romantic suspense junkie, all of these elements equaled enough curiosity for me to jump into this book with both feet.

What I Liked Most About the Book: In the interest of complete honesty and full-disclosure, the blurb gave me total Buffy and Angel vibes, and being the rabid Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV series fan I was–er…AM–I simply had to check this book out. And did I mention how awesome I thought the cover was??! Also, apparently, I love vampires that don’t want to be monsters and want to be the good guy, and Ash totally fits this characterization.

NICUnurse’s Rating: The book is a part of a series–The Forgotten Brotherhood–but all of the books are marketed as standalone titles. There were small parts of this book where I felt a little more backstory would have added just a bit more to the reading experience, but it wasn’t so much that I couldn’t follow the story or connect the dots, so I can’t say that was much of an issue. The action definitely kept me turning the pages, and the whodunnit was NOT who I thought the bad guy would be, and those are big pluses for me when reading romantic suspense, even if it’s in the paranormal realm. If you like paranormal romances with tortured heroes, sassy badass heroines, fast-paced action, and well-written suspense, you’re going to love this book. And I will grudgingly admit that I’m intrigued enough to give the first two books in this series a chance.

I give Burning Ash by N.J. Walters 5 out of 5 stars!

I've enjoyed each book in this series. The women are so kick-a$$. They're out there taking on the biggest and baddest in the paranormal world. It's a special man who can compliment such a woman without trying to suppress what makes them special. Walters has created another enigmatic alpha hero in Ash. Jo has sworn to rid the world of vampires and for good reason. She's human but has an amazing ability to take on immortals.

Ash is ancient. He's walked the earth forever and yet never met anyone like Jo. No one has ever been so attractive to him. Pulled together by unknown forces the two are fighting for their life and to solve the mystery of what is happening.

This book is full of so much intrigue, action, and strife but has plenty of sweet and sexy moments. It was a great mix and kept me intrigued both wondering how the situation would resolve itself, or not, and how Jo and Ash could ever find an HEA.

It was also great to see Maccus and Morrigan several times and revisit their dynamic.

Burning Ash, Book 3 in N.J. Walker’s Forgotten Brotherhood series, is an exciting, enthralling, suspenseful, steamy, paranormal romance that explores whether a deadly, skilled, loner, vampire hunter and one of the oldest vampires, a contract assassin that scares the monsters, make a good love match. From the first page, Burning Ash drew me into Jo’s and Asher’s story. The action scenes are intense, well-written, and always have something at stake for the characters, making the story more intense and suspenseful. Walter’s description is crisp and colorful, as well as the world-building.

The characters are nicely developed, likeable, and relatable for the most part, despite all but one being human. While Jo is a remarkable hunter and her reasons for being a loner, who doesn’t trust anyone, especially vampires, are clear and completely understandable, sometimes she’s frustrating and irritating. With her background you just really might want to take a step back and think it through before becoming involved with a vampire because all the pulling away and I trust you, no I don’t is just frustrating. Especially from a character who knows who she is and what she wants. Her determination to continue to expect things to be done the human way while she is in the supernatural world, also is irritating. We get it, she’s strong, independent, has her own mind, and will do what she wants. But she needs to respect that in the supernatural world there are certain norms that she might accept and just deal with. As a person who hunts vampires and is on the road all the time it seems like she would be able to accept the situation she’s in and roll with it more. I did like how she came to realize that at the end of the day the supernatural creatures aren’t all that different from humans, they have familial connections, and some are evil, but some are not.

Unfortunately, toward the middle of the novel the pacing seemed to slow, and the novel started to drag. The revelation of the villains was kind of underwhelming because it took so long to get to this point. Nevertheless, readers who love vampire romances, vampire hunting, steamy and intense romance, and well-written action and suspense should love Burning Ash.

This is an intriguing addition to this action packed, paranormal, romantic suspense series. Although this is the third book in the series and characters from the earlier books also appear in this one, I believe this book could be enjoyed when read as a standalone.

An anonymous email from an untraceable source results in Asher, a member of the Forgotten Brotherhood and a unique version of a vampire, investigating the event he’s been alerted to. He never anticipated a vampire hunter, Jo Radcliffe, being there – and certainly hadn’t expected to be attracted to her or to discover that she had a similar anonymous email. Someone is endeavouring to manipulate them, but just who and why? If that’s not enough, just what will Jo do when she discovers he is also a vampire?

This is an intriguing romantic suspense involving several different types of paranormal characters. It is a suspense filled romance where danger lurks where you least expect it and love will find a way! The characters are well developed, and love has certainly changed several from the earlier stories – especially Maccus! Jo is a feisty, determined twenty-nine year old who is used to being independent and alone. Asher is one of the oldest vampires though he’s also unlike any other vampire in many ways. It was great to learn their histories and see how their relationship develops in these dramatic circumstances. The story is fast paced, engaging and totally enthralling. I really enjoyed reading it and hope that we’ll be learning more about Bjorn and have him finding his soul mate.

Thanks to Entangled Publishing and NetGalley for my copy of this book which I have read voluntarily and honestly reviewed.

Asher doesn't know why the email sent to him about a vampire attack put him in the pathway of Jo Radcliffe. The fascinating beauty is clearly a vampire hunter and is used to fending for herself, but Asher believes it is too coincidental that they both received emails to go to the same place. Deciding he needs more information he makes a deal with Jo to figure out who is behind the mysterious email but Jo has plans of her own which do not include Asher. Asher though fro the first time in centuries feels a pull to Jo that has him wanting to stay by her side. Could there be an enemy out there that he can't see and will Jo be a weakness he can't afford?

This was wonderful, Asher radiates alpha male but he is also a bit aloof which makes him very charismatic. Jo gives as good as she gets from Asher and while she is not sure of what Asher is she is intrigued. Trust is a difficult thing for Jo and having Asher in her life she wonders if she is making the best decisions. Action packed vampire story.

Not gonna lie girl has her priorities in order, “pizza.” She could die. If that happened, Jo wanted her last meal to be pizza." The girl just doesn't have any shame at times, “I love you, too. We should go home.” And get naked, as soon as possible. She slid her hand down his front, aiming for the prize in his pants , but he grabbed her hand and pulled it away." I liked this book, I loved No and Asher.

I needed an urban fantasy fix and this fit the bill perfectly.
I haven't read the previous books in the series but I was able to pick up the story really well. I still want to go back and read books one and two as this one was so good!
Burning Ash has a great cast of characters with strong females leads and a swoon-worthy hero. I felt I got to know Jo and asher really well as they both had strong backstories and plenty of emotional turmoil to work through.
I absolutely loved all the suspense and excitement this story generated and I can't wait to catch up on the earlier titles.

Wow...Asher...

I must say his book is awesome!!! And Jo!? She is just perfect for this bad boy. And I so love the banner between the Brotherhood.

In all honesty, I was not expecting that twist, and I was like OMG! It was soo effing twisted and painful that it had to happen to him. But I do like how it ended.

Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Burning Ash by N.J. Walters is book three in her Forgotten Brotherhood series. Though it’s part of a series, it reads as a standalone.

Relationships are hard. Just imagine how hard it is when one of you is a vampire hunter and the other is a vampire. That’s what Jo and Asher are facing, and that’s the easy part. The unknown forces manipulating things in the background are the real issue.

Burning Ash is very well-written addition to the Forgotten Brotherhood series. Worlds collide in the best way possible. We get two new interesting characters and sneak peeks at the current lives of previous personalities. If you like sexy male vampires or badass female vampire hunters, this is the book for you. I found this to be an exciting read and rate it 4 out of 5 stars and recommend it to all readers of sci-fi/fantasy romance.

My thanks to Entangled Publishing, LLC and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book. However, the opinions expressed in this review are 100% mine and mine alone.

I was so excited to read the next book in this series! Asher is completely swoon worthy, loyal and protective of Jo and Jo is brave but out of her depth and needs help in order to survive who is after her. Luckily she has Asher by her side, There is action, danger love and a good amount of steam. I loved catching up with Maccus and Morrigan from book 1 and learning about other members of the Brotherhood. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

When I see something this author has to offer I try and get it and jump in like I did with this one. This is one of those that the opposites do attract and heat everything up. The two that can not deny what is between them have our interest also. Jo and Asher will slowly heat up but also burn to our fingers as we see where they take us. There is a third party though that is going to try and take them both out for their own agenda. They will also with their agenda guarantee we stay with this one to see who comes out the one on top.

These books can certainly be read as standalone novels, but I'm eagerly working through them all as a set. Who could possibly not want more from the Forgotten Brotherhood?

This story is about Ash, a vampire-ish member of the Forgotten Brotherhood. He is out chasing a lead that managed to evade his hacking skills when he meets the elusive Jo - a famous vampire hunter. Normal vampires might be concerned, but Ash is just intrigued. These two light the pages on fire with their sizzling attraction and I was rooting for this mismatched pair from the start. Of course, there are certain obstacles (one of which being his vampire status) that they have to overcome, but even the big bad can't keep these two from falling hard.

The larger story here is essentially the trail they are following, trying to get a Forgotten Brotherhood member to lose his lady love and then lose his mind. This would cause one of the other members to take them down, yadda yadda yadda, end of the world. They manage to side step most of the obstacles in their way, but it's still close. Lucky for everyone, these two can hold their own in most fights. Bring on the shifter!
