I love Juliet Marillier, but I haven't listened to any of her books on audio. The narrators for A Dance With Fate made a fantastic book, just that much better. As the narration switched from Liobhan to Dau to Brocc you could feel each characters emotions, something that came across just that much stronger than it did when reading. The narrator for Dau's chapters in particular was able to capture Dau's anger and despair so perfectly. A Dance With Fate was a pitch perfect follow-up to Harp of Kings and left me anxiously awaiting book three. So much happening with each of these characters and I can wait to see how their solve their personal challenges as well as the larger threat of the Crow Folk.

Thank you to NetGalley and RB Media for providing me with a copy of this audiobook for review.
I’ll be honest, I’m not much of a fantasy reader. However, a few different people have recommended Juliet Marillier to me as someone who is a good gateway into fantasy. And now I have been lucky enough to sample her, I very much agree. As this is a sequel I won’t give any plot points away in case I spoil the first book. Having said that, I obviously bring brand new to Juliet Marillier, haven’t read the first book either. I did not feel lost at all though and I don’t think the author ever assumed you would just know things from the first book and does a good integration of the earlier plots without it seeming clunky or a shopping list of what came before. She has a very easy writing style and I could tell straight away I was in safe hands of a master story teller. I will definitely be picking up more of her work. What a fantastic find for me! This book is now on general release.

I was given a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

A Dance with Fate is the second novel in Juliet Marillier's new Warrior Bard trilogy. I read the first book last year physically. I was curious how the audio experience would be. For the most part it was good. I enjoyed the narrators. At first, I was thrown because they didn't have Irish accents. Don't really understand that choice.

The novel was good. I was loving it, the set up, the journey and the continuing relationship between the two main protagonists. The side story with the brother in the fairy realm was ok but I was way more invest in the main plot. I can't say much more since its a sequel and don't want to get spoilery.

I docked it a star because while the first half of the book was an easy 5 stars the second half I had a couple issues with. I felt like everything was wrapped up too quickly and neatly. I also wanted more of a slow burn with the relationship. I know most would say it is. Also I noticed a few phrasings that didn't feel accurate to the time period the novel is set so that distracted me. But overall, I still really enjoyed this novel and would recommend it to anyone who loves this author like I do.

I'm not usually someone who prefers audio books over print. However, the storytelling aspect of Ms. Marillier are enhanced by this version. It was very relaxing to close my eyes and just listen. I am a hugh fan of Juliet Marillier. This story is part of a series and should be read after the previous ones in the series. Unfortunately, there was no clear ending in this one, leaving everything open for another book. While I am glad there will be more, I like books to stand alone. I appreciate the strong female heroines in her stories that push through adversity to come out stronger. I always eagerly await her next stories.
