I like reading poetry books. I will admit that it isn’t my favourite genre but I like trying to dissect and understand poetry. What I find from personal collections is that they can sometimes be a little self indulgent especially if the writer is a little green. Lang Leav’s latest collection September Love shows a writer in her prime, a writer who knows who she is and produces work that is readable, enjoyable and that doesn’t seem like it is just word regurgitation on a page.

September Love is a stunning collection. Personally, I preferred her free verse but the collection as a whole is very accomplished.

September Love by Lang Leav is available now.

Lang Leav's poetry collection can be a hit or miss for me and this one here didn't unfortunately meet my taste. I was expecting a lot more from these poems, but I really could not connect with most of them. Also, I believe that the same themes were used over and over again which is something I didn't particularly enjoy.

I've read Lang Leav's works a few years ago and having to read her new poetry collection book now is truly amazing. She keeps on getting better and better through time. I'm excited for other people to read this book.

I've heard of Lang Leav before, but this is the first time I've read anything by her. I liked this collection but I'll admit that it didn't really stir me in a way some of the other modern poetry volumes have. It's a good book - just not the greatest.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for providing me with an ARC of the book.

A lot fo these poems were just average for me. Out of all of them, only one of them really resonated with me. I normally like modern poetry, but that was just not the case here. I've liked some of this author's work in the past and am kind of disappointed to not like this one.

I decided to give this book a go despite not being a huge fan of the author's poetry.
Reading the collection was therapeutic - there were some beautiful poetry and proses.
However, the book leaves no lasting impression. There is no wow factor. I was quite disappointed.
Overall, a good read nonetheless.
Thank you, Netgalley & Andrews McMeel Publishing for the eArc in exchange for an honest review.

This was the first book I’ve read by this author, and I didn’t enjoy it much.

The writing style of the poems wasn’t for me and I couldn’t really connect / relate to the themes.
The poems also got repetitive after a while, but I guess you can only read so many poems about the same topic - love - without feeling a little bored.

In my opinion the author‘s self-proclaimed “feminism“ bordered on man hating at some points, which made me a little uncomfortable.

Overall, this was a disappointing read for me that I wouldn’t recommend.

It didn’t live to my expectations. It was okay and it has promising some poetries but couldn’t top the previous works she have.

Still worth a try to read it.

This is my first Lang Leav book, but I've always heard wonderful things about her works and I can honestly say they were right.

Her words are poignant and powerful and can seem to understand you when no one else can.

Such an amazing and beautiful work of pure art.

This is my first experience with LL, but definitely not my last.

I appreciate how accessible the poetry style is. It feels very minimalist - modern and simple, yet artistically pleasing.

I will admit I preferred the prose sections more than the verses, but only because it felt like they told a deeper story.

Overall, this a lovely selection of reflections on love, life, and everything in between.

Leav's books are always a pastime for me. They're calming, ecstatic, and always enjoyable. Every time I seem to finish them in one sitting.

And this collection of poems didn't fall far from the tree. It has the Leav magic and serenity all her books have. You will find that you have learned something hidden about yourself.

With one drawback. I didn't feel some of the poems; they didn't make me stop and stare in the abyss and just say "wow". So it was a bummer.

But since different poems speak differently to us, I guess this is on my part.

Still this is a good collection of poems as are her other books. So I would not only recommend you read this book, I recommend read other books by her.

I’ve been reading Lang Leav since 2016 and she is the only one whose poetry I didn’t grow tired of. She has been following me through my own heartbreaks but also the time I fell in love again even though I didn’t know it was possible. She does hold a special place in my heart.

I feel like some of the themes of September Love were themes which are often present in Leav’s previous poetry collection such as love, heartbreak, grief and self-love but she also talks about being a writer or what is it like to be an artist, which wasn’t present in her previous collection.

As soon as I saw that Lang Leav had a new collection on NetGalley I knew I wanted to pick it up, I have enjoyed her poetry in the past and was eager to check out this collection. I have to say that this is probably my favorite of what I've read from her. There was a lot of self exploration and I could feel the rawness in her words. It's a quick read, as most poetry collections can be, but it is full of impact and emotion.

Review:
A series of intricate and marvelous poetries and prose that dwells on the topics such as love, heartbreak, betrayal and self empowerment. The poetries are beautiful, and absolutely touching, each filled with an essence of love. The poetries are beautiful and leaves the readers dwelling on these sentiments, each word having a profound impact on the reader's heart.
Lang Leav was one of the poetess, that I wanted to read for a while. And I must say I am not at all disappointed. Her poetries are so amazing, I loved so many of them. Each poetry left me hung on those words.

Lang Leav and I have a complicated but lovely relationship: she writes pretty words and then I CRY ABOUT THEM for weeks on end and am unable to find a proper way to put my thoughts into proper words. This was beautiful and made me feel like I was going through my first crush, reliving every heartfelt emotion I've felt and also reminded me of why I love reading poetry. Absolutely stunning and I cannot wait to hold this book in my hands for real.

Yet again, Leav takes her readers on an emotional roller coaster. The poems in this collection range from hopeful to hopeless, from being in love to being alone. Whatever emotion you may be feeling, there's a poem for you to embrace. I flew through this in one sitting because I just didn't want to put it down. There were so many quotes that I felt a connection to and so many lines that I had highlighted. A few of my favorites were "Taking Time", "The End of Love", "Night and Day", "Ten Things" and "Show of Love." If you're a fan of poetry, I'd recommend checking this collection out.

4.5 stars!! Amazing
I’ve never read anything by this author before but I can tell by how she writes that she is very skilled. She mentioned this book was her 9th book and it made me what to do back and read her other works because of how beautiful and real her words are. There’s so much empowerment and feminism in her writing, I love it. Grief and A Life Unlived were my favorites, they spoke to me about what I feel and I love when poetry does that. Pretty amazing!!

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

This is my first Lang Leav book, but I've always heard wonderful things about her works and I can honestly say they were right.

Her words are poignant and powerful and can seem to understand you when no one else can. I especially related to her pieces about writing and being a writer, because I used to write poetry as well and I felt exactly the same way she did: you can't hide when you're writing poetry, everyone will see you and pick apart your words and will have a say and not everyone will like you. I think that's a very important statement to keep in mind, especially in the social media age.

I also loved when she talked about this generation always under scrutiny and how we can't escape our mistakes, because they're written or recorded somewhere forever.

I highly recommend this to anyone who's looking for strong pieces about feminism, self-empowerement and love.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this early and thanks to Lang Leav for writing a stunning collection.

I have always enjoyed reading Lang Leav’s poetry and this one is just as beautiful as the other books. My favorite poem from this was “Grief”, I found it absolutely touching. The other poems were really great and if you love any of their previous works you’ll definitely enjoy this!
