I wanted to like this, but for me the writing was difficult to follow at times and the characters were unlikeable. Wasn’t a huge fan of the plot, either.

A good attempt but not for me.

This book ended up being really good! I really liked the storyline and the characters. The first bit of the story felt a bit disjointed but it wasn't long until it seemed to smooth out.

I could not get into this book. The characters made choices I couldn't relate with or agree with, so I stopped reading. But I appreciate the opportunity and I'm glad others enjoyed this one.

Remember reading this somewhere else. Can't remember where. The storyline was good but the execution felt choppy and random at times in terms of a smooth reaction.

This book was 100% not for me. Although I found the plot intriguing, and honestly, if it had been better done, it could have had a lot of potential. But this version of it just didn't work for me at all.

1) ALL the characters felt flat and unrealistic. None of them had the semblance of being real. Not the way they acted, talked, reacted, or interacted with one another. The dialogue was not well done as well as ridiculously childish, and the actions were contradictory as well as made no sense. The mother was more like a drunk older sister that didn't have a shred of authority so she played along with whatever her younger sisters wanted. Not even because they wouldn't listen to her, but because she was too much of a child herself to actually put down rules or explain consequences or have an opinion. There wasn't one scene, ONE SINGLE SCENE where she had an appropriate reaction to the extent that it made me angry. And Charlene? God, this character was a mess! We start the book with her trying to commit suicide because her boyfriend cheated on her and dumped her. Her good sister has to be late for class to talk her out of it. Then throughout the book, it's like she's obsessed with her ex but also slept with any guy out there. And that weirdo Ryan, I wonder how much thought was given to his character. Yes, he was created by the author to be Charlene's minion, but like "so what if your sister and I spent years blocking your magic to make you a public laughingstock and humiliate you at every turn? That gives you no right to say not so nice things about her." Dude, what drugs are you on? And yeah, what about any single confrontation over that? Jeez. Gray was yet another mess. I swear, sometimes I laughed out loud at the ridiculousness of her reactions to things. Like when she comes back to school and finds out she's in her sister's body and decides to head home to recuperate, then Raj calls out to her and she sprints like the idiot she is... I'm sitting there wondering what is wrong with her. Ignoring the many many weird faults with both her and Raj's characters (also Charlene, because there's no way to cap up all the mess that is Charlene), I'll move on.

2) It was very predictable. Some things it literally made no sense why the characters didn't figure them out sooner. Not an ounce of sense. Like how she ended up 'dead' in the first place. It genuinely blew my mind how stupid that part of the story was.

3) Almost nothing adds up. I feel like everything was just created on the spot to trigger the reaction the author needed at that point or to further the plot the way the author wanted it to. There was a TON of telling not showing to drive the story and things that make no sense.

Anyway, this book... yeah, I didn't like it. At all.

Firstly, I want to give props to whoever designed this cover because it's gorgeous. Secondly, I read this book so quickly! I couldn't stop flipping pages to get to the ending.

Nikki Jefford's writing style is lovely. Everything flows together so beautifully and it was a pleasure to read. The characters are well-developed, so it was fun to read about to protagonists and the antagonist! Graylee and Charlene had a complex relationship that was intriguing to watch unfold (especially because of the whole sharing the same body thing). Raj was such a sweet love interest for Graylee once we got to know him better, so I love that aspect too.
I love a good witch book, and this satisfied my craving for one. It's a nice combo of action, romance, suspense, and a little bit of mystery.

I have lost interest in this. I will not be reading and reviewing this book at this time but may do so in the future.

Sorry, but this title did not hold my interest. Therefore I never read it completely and never truly reviewed it because of that.

Interesting premise but wasn't enough to hold my interest. I got in a few pages but sadly it wasn't what I was expecting so I had to put it down. I might not be the right audience for this one.

You ever read a book a long time ago and don't remember it? That's what happened with this book. I'm not sure why I didn't remember it, but I do know that I liked it a lot more this time around. Though I'm not the biggest fan of books about magic, they've been growing on me a lot lately, and I enjoy them a lot more than I used to. If you like books about body switching teenage witches and warlocks, about seventeen or so, in school, living with their magic powers in a world that is mostly filled with powerless people, then this is a book you should check out.

Graylee and Charlene are identical twin sisters, though they couldn't be more different. Charlene loves being the center of attention, even if she has to lie for it, and most of her food intake is Slimfast protein shakes. Graylee, on the other hand, couldn't survive without food, and struggles with her missing powers. She has rules about who she can and can't date, mostly just that she doesn't want to date magical boys. Both girls have no problem standing up for themselves.

At the beginning of the book, we find Graylee and Charlene standing on top of the roof of their high school, with Charlene saying she's going to jump. Her boyfriend has just dumped her, and she saw him kissing another girl. Graylee is able to convince her sister to calm down, but she's insistent about not going to prom without her boyfriend, who she knows will come back to her. A lot of the story is the girls in class, or interacting with kids at their school.

Graylee finds herself being tormented by a demented boy named Raj. Known for setting his house on fire, he gives her the creeps, and especially when he uses spells to make her body stop moving. She eventually sneaks into the back seat of his car and chokes him with a string over the headrest. Little does she know, they're going to need to work together in the very near future.
See, the thing is, is that Graylee is later found dead in her home, and even though it's taboo, her mother tries to resurrect her with magic. She trades her own powers for her daughter's life, but like a genie wish, something goes wrong. Graylee's soul is put into the same body as Charlene's soul, forcing them to share a body.

The world these girls live in was easy to imagine, as it's pretty much the same as ours, but with a secret magical society weaved into their everyday life. I liked the characters, but some of the things they did seemed a little out of place and really spontaneous, but I also kind of enjoyed that part of it. It's told from third person with Graylee as the main character. I'm sure after you finish this, you'll be wondering, what next? I can't wait to see what happens in the second book.

Thanks for reading!

This book had a lot of promise for me. I loved the idea and concept behind this YA novel. A twin sister ends up living in her dead twins body?? Kind of a cool different idea. However I could not finish this book I found a lot of it pretty offense and NOT how I would want our YA audience to see women. Slut shaming and things that I realize are a reality just isn’t something I am wanting to read about.

DNF

Sorry, I couldn't finish this book. It just didn't hold my interest at all. The writing wasn't my style. I appreciate the opportunity to review it, though. Thank you.

Unfortunately, I could not connect with the writing style or any of the characters. I ended up DNFing this read.

I rated this book as "ok" several years ago. I honestly can't remember a thing about it, even after reading several other reviews. I would re-read it, if I had rated it higher. Also, my library decided not to purchase it.

Such a good book, I'm hooked and eager for the next one. Love the cover too, very haunting.

"Now Gray has to solve the mystery of her death...." With this line of the summary I was hoping for, I guess, a lot of Nancy Drew. Of Graylee looking into why she mysteriously died at the young healthy age of 17. However instead we hardly get any of that and she just believes what the people say of the reason what everybody believes to be behind her death, but even then I would still look into it cause who just dies at that young age with no cause. I know this book isn't surrounded by that one piece of the puzzle as there are a lot of other things going on in the book. However I thought it was going to be play a bigger role than it actually was in the book.

Yes, the rest of the summary is right but I think what bugged me was the execution of it. In the beginning we get to see a bit of Graylee's life before she has her passing. Here we see her struggle with magic, how her family life is, how she is completely different from her identical twin, Charlene, and how she gets back something she thought she lost years ago right before her offing. And that's when the fun begins.

Mrs. Jeffords doesn’t waste much time into bringing the main key of the book into play, having Graylee die and having her then wake up into her sisters body in the next chapter. I like that she tries not to waste so much time yet gives us a bit of a sneak peek into the way life was before the big shebang for the main character.

But there are some aspects that kind of started to bug be, some are good and supposed to get under the readers skin then there are other things that make it a bit rough for the reader to fall completely in love with this story. The good one is that you will hate the bad guys of the book extremely! Now the bad bug of the book is that it can be a bit jumpy at times. A bit jumpy to the point where I have to reread sections of certain paragraphs throughout the story. There was this one moment that caught me off guard so much, that most of the scene I had to reread it and I was afraid that I might not finish it. Or I may have had this problem because I was reaching the end and I just wanted to finish it or for the fact that the twin sister Charlene is just such a major bitch and slut that I just couldn't believe what she had done.

Overall, this was a great witchy entertainment where sibling rivalry is at its best and one series I hope to continue with. Mrs. Jeffords had me from the first chapter where Charlene decides to float down to the ground from the roof of the school, even though her witchy self is supposed to be a secret ;). Graylee is a fine character but sometimes I feel like she maybe a bit bipolar or in some sort of sense of that as one moment she's herself than the next she is a hot headed person, strangling some guy for using magic on her.

Happy Reading Everybody!

2.5/5 Stars

Entangled is an easy, quick read. The writing isn't the best, but it isn't the worst either. There were a few plot holes and the book seemed to jump around in some parts. Though I'm curious to know what happens to Graylee, I'm not vested enough in her character to continue with the series. Overall, I liked the book more than I thought I would. BTW: Charlene = evil, nasty, selfish witch
