This a thrilling story with lots of action and romance. I loved how Gabe fought his feelings for Lillian at the beginning by being a grumpy grouch around her but all this changed after they got kidnapped together. I loved the action scenes and suspense.
The dual narration of this book was fantastic. I adored Lillian's accent. Her snarky quips to grumpy Gabe sounded even funnier when performed by the narrator. Gabe's voice was also equally good. The two voices went well together and made very easy listening.

Audiobook: Narrators - Virginia Rose and Aaron Shedlock
Oh my gosh!!! These narrators totally owned this story!!! Each of them became their character and I couldn’t help but fall in love with Gabe and Lillian. Ms. Rose did such an incredible job with her southern accent which added so much more to her character. Add that with Mr. Shedlock’s performance, that fit exactly what I would imagine Gabe talked like, and I couldn’t stop listening.

I can’t stop from grinning! Gabe Blackburn is completely incorrigible! How this author came up with such a diverse hero is truly magic from the writer gods!

This had everything you could ask for in a book and it’s all contained in a novella. Filled with intense action, scary good drama, and even a few pages of heart wrenching sadness, it checks all the boxes for a great story. Add in the perfect amount of humor, from Gabe nonetheless with his inner monologues of taxidermied cats and his cocky ways of working around Lillian’s protestations, and you’ve just added icing to an already tasty morsel.

This book made me laugh on several occasions AND I loved the main character's voice -- it was delightful, especially in these difficult times. The characters felt real to me, and the author did a fantastic job of weaving two people together in crazy experience. As far as the audio component, the narrators did an incredible job. Would "read" this author and/or narrator again.

A quick, fast-paced story with main characters who have good chemistry. It did seem like the story was a bit disjointed - first, on the run from South American mercenaries; then a dying grandmother and family drama; then workplace drama - and it kind of gave me whiplash, especially considering this was novella-length.

I really liked the audiobook. I liked the story itself only wishing that it could have been longer. It is very short at 2 hours and 35 minutes. I’m not sure I would spend $9.99 for such a short listen and I would have to really think about buying for my library as it is so short.
There were two narrators, Virginia Rose and Aaron Shedlock. Rather than a pedantic him reading all boy parts and she all girl parts they alternated sections. Both had very distinct voices for the main characters so it wasn’t difficult to determine which character was speaking. Similarly it wasn’t discordant having to switch between one voice and the other.
It flowed well. Things like modulation, emphasis, intonation were spot on.
I would recommend this audiobook but, again, I’m not sure I’d buy it for my library as it is so short.

It takes a special skill to produce a 'full package' novella. Brynne Asher proves beyond a doubt that she has that skill.

In Blackburn it is easy to 'believe' the danger, intrigue and intimacy that the listener experiences alongside Gabe and Lillian.

The narrating duo of Virginia Rose and Aaron Shedlock performed beautifully, bringing this novella to life. However, I would also recommend that the listener change the settings 'quickening' the delivery of Gabe and Lillian's quick but exciting journey to HEA.

This was a short and sexy book by Brynne Asher. The story in itself was fast paced, it wasn't boring and I really like the two MCs. Brynne Asher managed to filled this short story with action, sexy times and engaging interaction between the characters.

For me, what made this book all the more enjoyable to listen to was the 2 narrators Virginia Rose and Aaron Shedlock. With their talented voice acting, I felt the book just breezed by. I thoroughly enjoyed Virginia Rose sweet southern drawl and of course Aaron's voice is very masculine and sexy indeed.

Thanks NetGalley for the audiobook copy, the thoughts above are all of my own.

There is nothing better than an action packed, romantic suspense novella. This is my first listen by Brynne Asher and it will not be my last. Gabe and Lillian are in Nicaragua for a meeting. Gabe is short and gruff, giving Lillian the feeling that he does not like her. Being her boss, she is focused on doing her job well and getting back to the states to see her grandmother. But danger lurks, and as things become desperate, this couple's true feelings begin to surface. Will they find their way home? Is their relationship going to be based on more than the needs during treacherous times? While Asher has written a novella, the story is well developed and complex. Gabe is that alpha male you want at your side in times of trouble. Lillian is extremely competent and strong, In the most dire of situations, she kept her composure. Their chemistry is combustible and the outcome is fantastic.

Narrated by the talented team of Virginia Rose and Aaron Shedlock, the time flew by. They brought this story to life so I could see it in my mind, experience the danger and the passion. I loved their performance and can't wait to hear more from them.

This is a short but really fast paced book. I really enjoyed it. Pretty much from the start, we're immersed into an action filled segment (Gabe and Lillian are in Nicaragua and they end up being targeted for ransom). Things progress and even though it's short, I liked that the author set it up so that the characters knew each other for months prior to the beginning of the story. This is the first story I've read by this author and I really loved the mix of action and romance.

I got to listen to the audiobook, narrated by Virginia Rose and Aaron Shedlock and they were great. Virginia Rose has a nice beautiful drawl. I have to admit that her male voice wasn't very differentiated but that said, I had no issue telling the difference between her Gave vs Lillian. Aaron Shedlock's performance was excellent. He has a beautiful voice and he did such a great job playing the female voice as well. Overall, a short but wonderfully done audiobook,

What a wonderful surprise this audiobook was. I was not familiar the author once I started listening, I couldn’t put it down.
Lillian Burkette and her boss’s boss, aka owner of the company, Gabe Blackburn are in Nicaragua meeting with a client. She’s sure he hates her , since his little interaction with her has been less than stellar. But she’s determine to do a good job not expecting they would be kidnapped for ramson.
While in captivity it becomes obvious that Gabe has a military background, connections as well as being very much attracted to her,
But they must survive the enemy before they can figure out what’s happening with them. Add to that the discovery that he’s a really sweet man underneath and you have an action packed, fast paced suspense romance with an engaging plot and very likable characters.
Can’t wait to listen and/or read more stories by this author. I want to also commend the narrators.
I was entrusted a copy of this audiobook by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

I enjoyed this novella! The intrigue and setting sucked me in right away, and the quirky humor had me grinning more than once. The hero was just the kind of dark and broody that I adore, and he’s got more grit than your typical office man in a suit (though he lost a few brownie points for being afraid of cats).

I was happy the audiobook had both male and female narrators, though I must admit I found the woman’s voice a bit irritating, which slightly decreased my enjoyment, but that’s just personal preference and says nothing about the story itself. Overall, this was a fun and quick read, and it introduced me to a new author whose writing I greatly enjoyed.
