I liked the book itself, but the audiobook was disappointing in quality. It sounds like a fake computer generate voice at anything higher than 1.25. I listen to all my audiobooks at 1.5 at the minimum. It got so annoying that I had to stop listening.

Do you like watching Hallmark movies? If so this is a cute and fun read for the holiday season. Even if it’s predictable, a hallmark movie is always a fun way to get in the holiday spirit, this is basically the same thing in book form. I’m interested in seeing the actual movie when it comes out.

I had a hard time getting into the story at the beginning. The reader wasn't amazing but I was able to keep going and try to listen to more of it. I'm glad I stuck with it. It was a good story and very different than I have listen to before. Most stories that have time traveling are more science fiction and this wasn't. I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed it. It was a feel good Christmas story.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a digital copy of this book!
I really enjoyed this story. Our heroine, Megan, works at a historic mansion of a man named Charles, an inventor from the early 1900s. One day, that man shows up in the present day, super confused about why his house is decorated for Christmas and all these people are in it. In the museum, there are people impersonating him, his fiance, etc., increasing his confusion. This story is hm trying to figure out how to live in present day, how to travel back to his time, and the romance between him and Megan as she helps him on these adventures. I thought the atmosphere was great, the romance sweet, and overall I would highly recommend this book.

SPOILERS AHEAD:
In the end, she says she loves him and asks him to stay and he says he can't, but then at the last minute, when he has figured out how to go back, he decides to stay. We know from the history books that he just disappeared and his fiance married someone else, so it wasn't a huge surprise, but it was cute.

I was very excited to see this pop up on NetGalley, as the Hallmark movie is premiering this November (2020). As an historian myself, this premise is right up my alley- getting to meet someone from the past, never mind someone that I have been studying?? That's the stuff of dreams! Charles Whitley is an interesting character, and I appreciate that he doesn't spend the book in an existential crisis on how he travelled through time. (This is a lighter book, I don't need that!) I loved that Megan was realistic- she also accepted the phenomenon of time travel, but tried to protect herself. And in true Hallmark fashion, the secondary characters in Megan's coworkers and friends were the perfect addition! This is definitely at the top of my to-see list now.

Kate Rudd was a wonderful narrator- this is a well-done audiobook. You know which character is "speaking", and she relays emotion well without being overly dramatic.

I love me some time time travel romance - it's one of my favorite themes.

What I loved about A Timeless Christmas:

- I love how the main character just accepts that he traveled in time, as does Sophie. A lot of time travel books spend a lot of time showing the character as freaking out about time traveling or not believing it, and it can be tiring and take up a lot of space in the book. This was a refreshing change!

- Also refreshing was how the time travel worked in this book - usually I've encountered a female going back in time. this time, it was a man going forward in time -- way cool.

- I love the bravery when it came to love. I'll say no more, so I don't spoil anything!

- Mild Christmas Carol/Chales Dickens vibes

What could have been different:

I wasn’t surprised by anything in the book. It was low on conflict/drama, which makes for a cozy book or movie, but admittedly is lacking in the excitement department. Then again, I’m usually looking for coziness in these kinds of books, so that’s not a a deal breaker.

I'm looking forward to seeing the Hallmark movie version of this book - I hope they keep the rooftop scene, because I think that will be so beautiful.

A sweet timeless tale of true love. Add in the backdrop of Christmas and it is utterly romantic magic. Megan is an historian who loves the mansion where she provides tours. Intrigued the owner, and the story he represents, Megan can’t believe it when she literally meets The Charles she has been studying and learning about from the early 1900s. Charles is captivated by the modern times but even more so by Megan. I thought the time travel details were well done and stayed true to the story. Once Charles learns the truth about the past, he has to make a choice to return home or stay in the present and allow true love to transcend time. I love how the story comes together and the sigh worthy ending. The narrator did a great job of capturing the characters, both male and female, and portraying the emotions experienced throughout.

Description from NetGalley...
“They’re from two different centuries, but they’re perfect for each other.

Megan Turner is in love with the past. As a tour guide at a beautiful historic mansion, she tells visitors about its original owner, Charles Whitley. An inventor and businessman in the early 1900s, he rose from poverty to wealth…only to disappear without a trace. Charles was always intrigued by the future. He just never expected to go there. But when he repairs a mysterious clock he bought on his travels, he’s transported to the twenty-first century, with his home decorated for Christmas and overrun by strangers.

Charles is determined to find a way back to his own era, especially when he learns about what happened after he left. But as Megan introduces him to the wonders of smartphones, pizza, and modern holiday traditions, they both feel a once-in-a-lifetime connection. Could it be that, somewhere in time, they belong together? This magical holiday romance includes a free Hallmark original recipe for Stuffed Crust Italian Pizza.”

My thoughts...
Christmas romcom, with a pinch of historical fiction? I was skeptical. But, the narrator brought it to life and the story was funny, some laugh out loud moments and sweet. It’s Christmassy, cozy and the secondary characters were lovable. It was such a great audiobook to listen to while creating my Christmas cards.

A Timeless Christmas is a play on the scrooge finding out that there is more to life than work when he time travels to the future.

Charles lost his parents at a young age and he has since dived into work to keep from feeling such an emotional hurt again. He's engaged to be married, but constantly puts his work above even his fiancé. It takes an accidental time travel and a woman in the future to show him what he is missing if he just slowed down and enjoyed what life has to offer.

I love time travel stories and I love Christmas stories so this was an easy yes for me to give the audiobook a listen. It didn't disappoint. I enjoyed Charles and Megan's story and this got me into the Christmas mood.

The narrator did a really good job with all the characters and bringing this story to life. I highly recommend listening to the audiobook.

A Timeless Christmas by Alexis Stanton is a beautiful story about love, friendship, and reaching for your dreams.

I truly believe that some books come into your life for a reason and this one definitely is one of those for me. In the middle of a hard season, I've stopped pushing towards my goals and this book has served as a nudge to get me working at them again. 🏃🏻‍♀️

I absolutely loved this book. The storyline was incredible and stirred up so many emotions in me. I loved all the characters and wished I lived there so I could visit Charles Whitley's manor! The narration by Kate Rudd was stellar, she added a lot of heart to the story. ❤️

I loved the inclusion of the holiday traditions, like the Christmas Tree Lighting and the parts at Meghan's parents' house. Those added to the Christmas magic of this book.🎄

I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for an uplifting, inspirational holiday romance! This was incredible!

I'm so excited to see this transform into A Hallmark Channel Original Movie starring Erin Cahill and Ryan Paevey. A Timeless Christmas is part of the Hallmark Channel's Countdown to Christmas and premieres on Sunday, November 15th at 8:00 PM (EST)!

I'm so grateful to Alexis Stanton, Dreamscape Media, and NetGalley for providing me with a free copy of this ARC audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

I'd described this book as the Christmas edition of Kate & Leopold. I really enjoyed reading this book - both for the storyline and heartfelt characters. This would make a fantastic Hallmark movie! You need to add this book to your holiday reading list!

What the actual hallmark. Seriously, if you live for hallmark Christmas movies, a good cute romance, time traveling then look no further.

I give this book 3/3.5 stars. Reason I’m balancing between is the quirky ness of this book. The third chapter when Megan is playing Alice (a maid, in a reenactment) she makes all these silly jokes. I won’t lie I did laugh just because they were so hallmarkish.

I did enjoy this book. It was adorable, and fun read. Megan was ambitious scholar, who happens to work at a museum (as of reenactment actress) of one Charles whom disappeared one night. But, he didn’t, of course just up and disappeared. He time traveled, 1902 to 2018.

Charles, was uh interesting. One thing if I could change is his hatred for holidays. Yes, I understand his family passed away. However this happened when he was much much younger. I don’t see it believable for a man in his 30 hate the holidays/family/or having fun this much.

Ugh that ending. But again this is a hallmark book. So it makes sense!

I liked the book. It’s fun hallmarky book to enjoy, during the holiday season!

I'm generally not the audience for something quite so wholesome as this, but it was a fun listen! I appreciate that within the constraints of the Hallmark form, the author included lots of characters of color and people who weren't Christian. It's also set in the Adirondacks of NY, which is where I'm from, in a place that seemed to be an alt-Saratoga Springs.

The built-in conflict between a time travelling robber baron and the woman who gives tours of his house is just the right level. He also had that built in suspicion of the joys of Christmas that you gotta bake into the story. And the female main character had to learn to go for what she wanted.

The thing that I understand was nevessary for the plot but was kind of a bridge too far for my suspension on disbelief was the idea that this Gilded Age magnate was a good guy, as opposed to those other ones who were bad, because he was also an inventor who came from humble beginnings so he really "earned" his wealth. That's all nonsense but I'm still going to watch the hell out of this movie when it comes out.

My other comment is that this as an audiobook was not my favorite. The female narrator did an overly exaggerated stuffy low voice for Charles Witley, which I found distracting.

Megan has a Ph.D. in American History and is in love with the past. She works at the Biltmore-style Whitley mansion that is now a museum. Then a man turns up claiming to be Whitley himself, straight from 1902.

At first, all of the people doing tours and playing different characters from Whitley's life believe that he is a method actor who is applying to play Charles Whitley. As Megan spends time with him, she begins to realize that he's Whitley in the flesh. She becomes his tour guide to the twenty-first century, introducing him to smartphones, sushi, and pizza.

It's clear that Megan and Charles have feelings for each other, but he is determined to return to his own time. There is one gaping plot hole that I can't explain without revealing the ending, but it's a pretty obvious ending anyway considering that this is a Hallmark publication.

Kate Rudd is a good narrator who uses a deeper voice for male characters to help distinguish passages of dialogue.

Recommended for readers who enjoy historical romance, star-crossed lovers, and time travel fiction.

Charles Whitley clawed his way out of poverty, using his keen intelligence as an inventor to make him a wealthy man and owner of one of the finest houses in town. His fascination with an unusual clock sends him tumbling from the beginning of the twentieth century into the twenty first. He’s shocked to find his home open to the public and filled with strangers and intends to find his way back to his own time as quickly as possible. Then he meets Megan, a tour guide in his home and suddenly, he’s not so sure he wants to go back. This is a typical, warm and cozy Hallmark Christmas love story. Fun and enjoyable
