Jess, a statistician, single mom, and 29- going on 30-year-old, is a likeable main character because she is facing a number of barriers and seems to be a generally good person. It is impossible not to root for her. Based on multiple factors, she is super uninterested in any kind of shipping but finds herself providing a sample for a genetic dating service early on in the novel. This is how she ends up getting matched with River, the brains behind this operation.
There is so much to like about this novel. The romantic elements are there, and the balance of sap to sweet to sex is going to appeal to any existing CL fan. The ancillary characters do a lot of work, too: Juno, Jess's daughter; Jess's grandparents; Jess's mom; River's sisters; and especially Felicity (who has the awful nickname "Fizzy") make this more fun than just the standard examples of the genre.
The central question here about soulmates will appeal to any reader of romance, and it's handled in a way that I found particularly intriguing. HIGHLY recommended for CL and romance fans and for those interested in dipping their toes in the genre.

A good page turner, well written and a long the same vein of her other books. Worth a read, quick entertaining and a good escape.

Classic Christina Lauren in all the best ways. I absolutely loved this book and it's now one of my favorites. up there with Love and Other Words.

Christina Lauren is quickly becoming a favorite of mine in this genre. Ahh, the warm fuzzy feelings.
Jess is a single mom of a sweet and bright young girl named Juno. With the help of her grandparents who raised her and her energetic friend, Fizzy, Jess is holding it together as best she can (with no help from her deadbeat mom). Enter handsome River, a DNA-based matchmaking company/dating app, and it’s time for the ride to begin.
This book was so fun. It’s heartfelt, sweet, funny and romantic while still keeping the reader’s interest with an intriguing plot. If you like rom coms, you’re going to love this one.
Thank you to NetGalley, Christina Lauren, and Gallery Books for this advanced digital copy.

I was SO looking forward to this book, and it did not disappoint. The premise is so fascinating and fresh, and I truly loved the characters. Everyone had a distinct voice, and I loved getting to spend time with all of them. This author duo is an auto buy from me, and their latest is a winner.

As a funny cute romantic story, this book ticks all the boxes. It appears to be a predictable story, but there are enough turns that keep it interesting and engaged. Also I enjoyed all the characters. They were interesting more developed than most and you peel their layers whilst they get to know each other.. Proof that I was thoroughly into the book was that I started it when i went to bed, and thought i'd only read a few chapters before going to sleep and before you know it it was WAY past my bedtime and the book was done! But lets get to the most important part of the story: the premise is really cool! This DNA matching doesn't exist now (i think??) but can someone invent it? I think I want to try it out!

I just loved this book so much! I buzzed through it and this book actually pulled me out of a pretty strong reading slump I was in. The Sci-Fi element was fun and didn't take itself too seriously (but also felt like it had substance!). There was nothing wildly unpredictable within the plot but I wasn't mad at it; Christina Lauren's relatable writing style and strong characters pull you through. I've only read one other CLo book (In a Holidaze) but this book seems like it fits in well with their other contemporary titles and it makes me excited to read their other books! Highly recommend for those who love a good enemies to lovers trope.

This is my favorite Christina Lauren book to date.
The premise of this book is FUN: can you find your solumate based on your DNA? A new, visionary online dating service believes you can. But what happens when you match with someone you don't particularly like? Jess, a down-on-her-luck single mother, is about to find out, as she matches at the highest recorded comparability level with the grumpy, off-putting founder of the dating service.
While not a fake dating story, this reads pretty similarly. I truly loved that both of the main characters were data and science nerds - their fast-paced conversations about statistics and biology were just as fun as their steamy moments. Their evolving relationship felt organic, though the beginning of the story felt a little slow and the ending a little fast,
Beyond our two love interests, the cast of supporting characters was fantastic. I especially loved Fizzy, Juno, and Pops. They each added another layer of relationships to an already engaging story.
Witty banter, crisp character development, earned chemistry between the main characters, an existential look at what it means to be soulmates, and twists that didn't feel manufactured - this felt like more than your typical romcom love story, and the pace at which I blew through this book is a testament to how hard it was t put down!
Thank you to the publisher & NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review!

I loved this book! So, so good! I'm already a Christina Lauren fan, but I think this is my favorite book of theirs so far!
Can you find your soulmate through a DNA sample? According to GeneticAlly, it may be possible! A new matchmaking app, GeneticAlly, is designed to pair people up after they have submitted a DNA sample and set some criteria. Using your genes, the app will match you up with people that are a Base, Silver, Gold, Platinum, or the rare Diamond match. The higher you and your pair matched, the more likely you are to have a long, happy relationship.
When one of the founders, River, has a Diamond match with a single mom, Jess, the app investors and other creators go wild. It's perfect timing, right before the launch of the app. However, Jess and River do not hit it off right away and enter into the relationship through a contract, for the sake of Science and wanting to know if the results truly are accurate. Were they made for each other?
I just loved this story line! I read this book in 2 days and was sad to see it end. All of the characters are so likable, the banter between River and Jess is perfect, and the relationships between Jess and her best friend, Fizzy, and Jess and her grandparents is perfect! Highly recommend!
Thank you NetGalley and Gallery Books for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I think at this point it comes as no surprise that the incredible duo, Christina Lauren, can literally do no wrong. They can make you laugh out loud while simultaneously making you feel all the feelings. I’ve read all of their books, and this one is in the running to be one of my favorites. Plus, this cover is stunning. The Soulmate Equation gets five stars from me! Thank you Netgalley for my advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest review!

Another thoroughly fantastic romance from Christina Lauren!
I was a bit nervous to read this following In A Holidaze because I loved that book so much and I’ve come to expect amazing things from this author duo. This was another book that I inhaled and wished could have gone on forever.
Jess Davis has a busy life with her seven year old daughter whose inquisitive mind keeps her on her toes, her grandparents who raised her and are helping her to raise her daughter, her firecracker of a best friend Fizzy, and a statistics job that she loves. The only thing that doesn’t seem to be working out is her dating life. She is ready to give up on dating completely when she and her best friend, Fizzy, learn about a new match making company that pairs couples based on DNA. Her scientific mind is intrigued but she doesn’t believe the results are accurate when she receives a 98% match - the company’s highest score ever. Particularly after she learns she’s been paired with Dr. River Pena, one of the company’s founders and a man she cannot stand.
This was a fantastic enemies to lovers romance. I really adored Jess and her family. Jess is so determined, caring and intelligent. I so related to her character in dealing with her struggles in finding a balance between work and family. Her daughter is adorable and precocious. Her grandfather is hilarious and her grandmother is kind. Then there’s her best friend Fizzy who completely steals every scene she’s in with her sense of humor and blunt yet caring commentary. I truly hope that there’s another story written about her own romance. As for River himself - I really enjoyed his stoic yet kind character. He and Jess were adorable together. I just wish we got a little more insight into his background but he is another love interest to add to my list if favorites from this author.

4.75⭐
A very mature PG-13 because the love scenes weren't overly descriptive but they were hot!
If you want a couple that could be described by the Bridgerton line "I burn for you", Jess and River definitely fit that line to T. So if you love some good romantic tension and simmering sexual attraction, this is your book.
Freelance staticisian Jess has sworn off dating so she can focus on being a great mom for her seven year old daughter, but her best friend Fizzy (Felicity, a romance author) convinces her to try a new online dating service that uses genetics to find a person's perfect soulmate. Jess never expects that her match (the highest in company history) is Dr. River Pena, the company's head scientist... And the broody Mr. Darcy-type guy she"a noticed frequenting her local coffee shop who can't be bothered to give anyone the time of day and definitely is not interested in Jess.
I loved that Jess was a single mom because I feel like that's so rare for a lead female character and Jess and her relationship with Juno was just so special. Honestly I'm still questioning if I believe soulmates could be found using DNA matches, but I loved all the science and numbers and general nerdiness in this book and it made my engineering brain happy.
So to summarize:
Jess and River's chemistry ✅
Single mom life with the cutest kid ever ✅
Meta romance author in a novel moment ✅
Science and math featuring prevalently to please my nerdy sould ✅✅
Cute, fun book that will warm anyone's heart because Christina Lauren is a romance novel genius ✅✅✅
Go read this book if you like a fun romance!!

After reading Christina Lauren’s The Holidaze, and loving it, I had high expectations for their next novel. The Soulmate Equation ask the question, if DNA can help you find your soulmate, would you? And if you did, would you really trust the results especially if you’re matched with someone you really despise? On paper River and Jess are a perfect match, in real life she thinks about committing a crime every time she sees him. This story is filled with a cast of characters you will fall in love with and a BFF that I want as my own. Christina Lauren are officially on my auto buy list!

I think The Soulmate Equation just took the spot as my absolute favorite Christina Lauren novel. As a single 30-something who is fed up with the world of online dating and is still nursing a broken heart from someone leaving, I found Jess's humor and cynicism as a mask for her loneliness extremely relatable. River is the man I hope to find- smart, thoughtful, and emotionally intelligent. These characters are human: flawed people doing their best to protect themselves, their families, their businesses, their hearts. I loved this from beginning to end and devoured the whole book in one day. Now I just hope that C and L are secretly developing a DNA-based dating service as their next endeavor!

This was one of my favorite Christina Lauren books so far!! I thought that the enemies to lovers trope was well executed and that the two main characters were able to get to know each other and warm up to each other over the course of the book. The relationship that River began to build with Juno was one of the best parts of this book, and it was clear that he was doing it in a way that was respectful to Jess's wishes as the parent and helpful to her. I definitely would recommend this read!!

I loved every minute of this book and devoured it in a day. It’s was cute and witty with just enough spice. Everyone from the main characters to the side characters were developed. I will definitely be preordering a copy for my collection and telling everyone about it!

If you’ve never read a Christina Lauren (where have you been?!?) this is my PSA you need to take the deep dive now, so you can be ready for The Soulmate Equation our in May. I think this may be my new favorite! It’s a fun twist on a genetic DNA based dating app where the creator of the app and coffee shop goer, single mom, computer coder Jess end up being a nearly perfect match. It has all the swoon and such a fun story! What’s your favorite CL?!

I devoured this book in one sitting. The sparks between Jess and River flew off the page making it impossible for me to put their story down. This was a powerful love store with depth. Jess is a single mom struggling to make it on her own. She is fiercely independent but finds a way to let her guard down and find love with River. Christina Lauren has outdone herself with this book!

Interesting twists on the dating scene as we know it...My scientific brain was engaged and pondering the DNA bits of this as I enjoyed the story of the geeky billionaire, and down to earth data analyst that are matched by science!

As usual, Christina Lauren writes a funny and sultry romance novel that I enjoyed thoroughly. I am rating this book 5 stars.
Jess, a single mom and statistician, finds herself so low one night that she caves in and sends her spit into GeneticAlly, a dating company that finds matches basked on genetics, to see if she has any matches. Lo and behold, her and the founder of the company, River, have a 98 % match, making them the highest match the company has ever found.
Jess and River decide to give dating a go to see if their genetic match transpires into a physical and emotional connection as well. Both lead characters were so loveable and the premise of the book was so unique, I found myself devouring it!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc of this book. All opinions are my own.
