I know my students love this series. I however did not enjoy this book. I generally young adult books but this one fell flat for me.

How delightful that Teddy Fitzroy is back with another exciting book in the Funjungle series. Gibbs is a favorite author in my Media Center and his latest book will be in demand, as always. Even if you haven't read previous Funjungle books, this one, as all, can stand alone. If you've read previous ones, the references to his previous books will be enhanced and familiar.
Teddy and his family are invited to a bison ranch outside Yellowstone National Park and the fun begins. He is asked to help solve the mystery of a missing, valuable necklace. In addition, bison seem to be disappearing so there's much work to be done on Teddy's part.
Reading this book is not only exciting but so educational also., There is so much timely discussion of the plight of Native Americans. How bison live, congregate, and manage to survive is delved into in depth. A favorite part was being introduced to the word :"touron," a term to which we can all relate. The ending pages are essential to know what the readers can do to further help the climate, people and society.
Another remarkable and important read from Stuart Gibbs!

Stuart Gibbs always writes a great story. Great plot. Love the characters. I love that the FunJungle series has moved out of the zoo, but is still as engaging. I love that the author uses the books to highlight wildlife issues, social issues, and moral issues and still keeps the books entertaining. I think my favorite character this time was the park ranger who kept yelling at the tourists. She needs to be in more books. Hilarious! Once again Mr. Gibbs has left us wanting more. I can’t wait for the next book. :)

I love Stuart Gibbs books, and I was so excited to read another FunJungle book! This one takes place near Yellowstone and focuses mainly on the bisons out there. It’s fascinating to me that these giants used to roam all over the US and how their population became so decimated, so I was really glad to see Gibbs draw more attention to them. Love this book and I know my students will die to read it too!!

I have enjoyed the Fun Jungle series for many years now. And I enjoyed this title just as much. My favorite new word is touron, Living in a tourist town I can appreciate that. Teddy is a great character. I enjoyed the setting of Yellowstone and appreciated the author’s note Bout why this series is no longer set in Fun Jungle. Fans of this series should enjoy the latest installment .

No matter which Stuart Gibbs' series we're reading, we are never disappointed. Our family has enjoyed all the FunJungle books, and this newest one was no exception.

Teddy is on the case again. On vacation in West Yellowstone with a bunch of people from Fun Jungle, they visit the Oy Vey Corral to figure out if it would make a great theme park. But things get a bit crazy when a bear crashes into the house, an expensive necklace is missing (did the bear eat it?), and two of the farm's buffalo are stolen. Teddy has his hands full trying to figure out all these mysteries, all while not telling anyone, including his girlfriend, Summer, what he's up to. Can he solve the case before more buffalo are stolen and the necklace disappears forever?

Stuart Gibbs never fails to take his readers on an adventure that both thrills and teaches. The tidbits about Yellowstone National Park and the animals that live there are interesting and fun, and Ranger Oh was one of my favorite characters as she yelled at the tourons (tourists who did moronic things). Pick up this book, and all the FunJungle books for a fun adventure for the whole family.

I received a copy of this book for an honest review. Opinions of are my own.

I really enjoyed this book! It is action-packed, humorous, and just so slightly romantic. Stuart Gibbs, like always, does a great a job at describing every part of the story. Bear Bottom is a fast-paced mystery novel with both Teddy and Summer on the case. I was so excited for this book as Stuart Gibbs is one of my favorite authors. I am so happy about how this book turned out and definitely recommend anything by Stuart!

Thanks to Netgalley and Simon and Schuster for an eARC of this book! All opinions are my own and I was not influenced to give this a good review.

Written by my 10-year-old son who has read the rest of the FunJungle series (and lightly edited by me):
Bear Bottom is about Teddy Fitzroy and how he went to the Yellowstone area and had to solve two mysteries there. The first was finding who stole bison from the ranch they were staying on and Yellowstone National Park as well. The second one was to find his girlfriend’s mom’s very expensive necklace. Everyone thinks a bear ate it because the bear broke into the house, but his girlfriend’s dad thinks it was stolen. I think this was a very good book and I like the author a lot. I didn't really like how the book doesn’t talk about Fun Jungle, what the series is based on, but it is still a very good book. I liked how it has many different exciting events that really pull along the story. I also like the new characters that were introduced and how we learned about them.

Stuart Gibbs has been one of my absolute favorite middle grade authors since I was first introduced to him with Belly Up, the first book in the FunJungle series. With this seventh edition, Bear Bottom, I've been incredibly impressed with Gibbs's facts, history, diversity, and location that he brings to the page. It's been lovely seeing Teddy Fitzroy in a new environment for this next installation to his series. It gave such depth and food for thought.

Teddy is one of my favorite characters. I appreciate his awkward and sensitive approach to solving mysteries, his intelligence at connecting the dots, and his kind heart. His approach to this case starts with trying to find out what's happened to some disappearing buffalos. The family he and his parents, Summer and her parents are all staying with want Teddy's help to find out how these several ton animals are vanishing without a trace. Before his investigation gets underway, another strange occurance spices up his working holiday.

Summer's father and the owner of FunJungle, J.J. McCracken, has another mystery for Teddy to solve. On their first night, Sasquatch enters through the front door and causes havoc. Sasquatch being a large grizzly bear who's native to the Yellowstone National Park which is the location where the families are. Not only does he scare everyone and come trudging in looking for food, but he appears to have made off with an expensive and rare necklace that Mrs. Kandace McCracken was wearing when she arrived.

Now, with the necklace missing, Teddy has to figure out if it really did end up digested by Sasquatch, or if there's a thief on the loose.

There was so much going on within this novel. Some of my favorite parts of this book were the facts mixed within the fiction. I loved hearing about the history of the bison and the importance of bringing them back from the brink of extinction. I loved the integration of the Native Americans heritage and life and characters who represented them in Yellowstone.

The information shared with readers about Yellowstone and how to act when you visit was important as well. I loved the action and adventure as well as Teddy's role in helping to save others from a cave landslide. Another favorite part was when Teddy figured out what happened to the necklace and the missing bison at about the same time.

Overall, this was an exciting story. It was a great change from the FunJungle location and helped share a new setting with historical and natural importance. I continue to love the mix of fact and fiction. It was such an amazing story, and I think fans of Stuart Gibbs will love this newest Teddy adventure. As always, I'm eagerly awaiting the next installment of the FunJungle series, but also, the newest stories for Spy School and pretty much any other book Author Stuart Gibbs writes.

So, for these reasons and many more, I give Bear Bottom a 5/5 rating. Enjoy! ;)

Thanks for the author and Simon & Schuster Publishing for an ARC copy of this book to read and review.

Teddy and Summer are back in another wild animal adventure in Stuart Gibbs' FunJungle series. This time, they are visiting a ranch that Summer's father, J.J. McCracken is considering purchasing to expand his FunJungle franchise. While at the ranch, a massive brown bear nicknamed Sasquatch breaks into the ranch house as a priceless necklace is stolen from Summer's mother Teddy and Summer pursue the missing necklace and try to figure out why a brown bear, who to this point, has always avoided people and the ranch would enter a home.

I love the FunJungle series and this one is just as good as the others. Gibbs explains in an author's note that there was concern regarding moving Teddy and Summer's adventures from the FunJungle premises, but as he explains, if disasters don't stop happening at the actual FunJungle it will have to close down! I quite agree, and the reasons I love this series are not lost with a change in setting. This is a great middle grade adventure/mystery story, and I feel Gibbs is careful enough with technology "props" and descriptions that this title will not become aged anytime soon. With the right promotion and RA recommendations, it should circulate in a library for many years.

Good series to recommend for kids who like Carl Hiaasen's kid's books ("Squirm," "Hoot," "Scat," etc.).

Another great read from Stuart Gibbs. The story moves quickly with enough twists to keep you interested and entertained

This book was a delight to read and given that Mr. Gibbs said he needed to scramble for the topic the book was fantastic.

Teddy Fitzroy is on vacation in Yellowstone with his parents, his girlfriend Summer and her parents. They are staying at the Oy Vey Corral (I love this name), and JJ, Summer's ultrarich father, is considering buying the ranch. However, when a bear breaks into the home where they are staying and a very expensive necklace goes missing, Teddy is tasked to solve the case. Oh by the way, the ranch they are staying on is losing buffalo and Teddy also tries to solve that mystery.

I love these FunJungle books, even if this one takes place away from FunJungle. I always learn something about wildlife and endangered species and Teddy is such a clever and enjoyable protagonist. If you have never read one of these, you can start with this book and not be missing out but you will likely want to go purchase all the others in the series after you read it.

I look forward to more books in the FunJungle series. So much fun to get lost in.

Thank you to Netgalley and Simon Schuster for an ARC of this book for an honest review.
