Relentless is the perfect word for this action-laden espionage thriller that reads like a cold war story of the present-day geopolitical climate with grand stakes. Gray Man is better than ever despite being in the most vulnerable position. With a fresh take on Middle-Eastern politics and classic espionage vibe of tales of Berlin, Court Gentry is in for a rough journey against multiple assassins, drones, and a ruthless mastermind who happens to be the head of the intelligence of UAE and its crown prince.
After the violent ending of One Minute Out, Court Gentry is convalescing with treatment for bone infection and sharp deep knife wounds, when he is called upon by Matthew Hanley, his handler at CIA off-books Poison Apple project, to uncover the mystery behind an intelligence community operative thought to be dead but very much alive in South America. This constitutes a patten of supposedly dead intelligence agents who are working for a new and private intelligence organization whose origins and loyalties are unknown and sinister. With Zack Hightower having been captured on an exfiltration mission, and Zoya Zakharova deep undercover working this mystery from a different angle, Court Gentry, The Gray Man, operating at half his efficiency, is reinstated back into the field to get to the heart of this intelligence nightmare.
Without giving away too much, this Gray Man adventure has more elements of classic espionage with more spy tradecraft and powerful entities planning political domination through shrewd and plot-twisty measures than the previous Gray Man books. Relentless has become my favorite Gray Man thriller yet, an accomplishment that is no easy feat. The narrative is developed not in a straightforward stretch but through winding twists in the story that will require you to flex your brain like in a good old fashioned espionage story with different perspectives of events that help paint the bigger picture.
You cannot have a Gray Man story without badass action. Relentless continues the tradition of pulse-pounding and creative action sequences that are second to none. From visceral and detailed shootouts to extremely well-choreographed close quarter combat, Mark Greaney creates a symphony of badass action shootouts and fisticuffs that hold you in the moment. While a sucker for Glock 19, Court also uses a .22 suppressed Walther and a HK VP9 this time around and stacks up bodycount no less than as he does with his trusty Glock 9mm. I loved how different situations in combat called for different weapons and caliber, augmenting the realistic tone of the combat. The grand action-packed finale is unlike anything you will have read before, and just when you catch a breath of fresh air, you will find out there is more to worry about. Even with a fever and bone infection, Gentry is a lethal and relentless killing machine who has to contend with skilled assassins who are in much better physical health than Gentry.
Court Gentry is vulnerable this time around like we have never seen him before. Court is indeed in love with Zoya Zakharova, something he is neither good at experiencing nor expressing. We see Court and Zoya try to make up for lost time and even though there is some mistrust between them, they form a formidable duo with sparkling chemistry that made me want to see them together more often. At the same time, we also see Court in less-than-optimal condition. There are occurrences where the situation clearly demonstrates just how much out of depth Court is when operating in high stress situations and his body cannot cope. Court still kicks ass and shoots bad guys in the head, just with a lot more bodyache and high fever and bleeding wounds. However, he understands the need to have backup this time around, and this is where Zack Hightower comes in. With friendly banter and an easygoing bond between the two, Court and Zack make a superb duo as both wisecrackers and asskickers.
Relentless is undoubtedly going to be in the top 5 books of 2021 and I cannot wait to see where Mark Greaney takes Court Gentry next. The last few pages of the book will shake things up for Court Gentry just when he was settling back in. There are no safety nets in Relentless and the scope is bigger than any Gray Man story yet. Court Gentry is a relentless badass!

The Poison Apple group of Court, Zoya and Zach are back working together whether Matthew Hanley of the CIA wanted it that way or not. Berlin is the main location where so much could go wrong and eventually it does. This book #10 in the Gray Man series is a thriller where almost everybody has two very different agendas they are running simultaneously. It's just one crisis, one assassins job, one political agenda and one international incident after another. By the end of this story it's hard to tell who the winners and who the losers are. Another page turning thriller of a thriller from author Mark Greaney.

Thank you to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing Group for an e-galley of this novel.

I thank NetGalley and the publisher for giving me an ARC in exchange for my review.

Mark Greaney is considered one of the best authors in the thriller genre. He has ten Gray Man novels and has some other novels as well. I haven't read all of Mark's novels, but I have read a few. I loved the Gray Man and was anxious to see what was happening with Court Gentry nowadays.

Court is still recovering from his last mission and has a serious infection that is seriously threatening his effectiveness and livelihood. Nevertheless, when an op goes sideways he gets called into action. A rogue government agent is causing havoc and Court needs to stop the guy and sift through the chaos.

There are several players with different agendas. The main storyline is a team trying to kill Court's female colleague Zoya and attempts by Iran to cause a ruckus. Someone with ulterior motives in trying to act as marionette, but doesn't quite pull it off. Court ultimately uses his skills to take care of the bad guys. Sadly, it again costs him as others pin blame on a guy who is probably the most well intentioned of the lot.

I really enjoyed the novel and I highly recommend it.

Intelligence operatives around the world are disappearing. When a missing American agent re-appears in Venezuela, Court Gentry, the Gray Man, is dispatched to bring him in, but a team of assassins has other ideas. Court escapes with his life and a vital piece of intelligence. Meanwhile, CIA agent Zoya Zakharova is in Berlin. Her mission: to infiltrate a private intelligence firm with some alarming connections. Court and Zoya are just two pieces on this international chessboard, and they're about to discover one undeniable truth—sometimes capturing a king requires sacrificing some pawns.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read the latest Gray Man book. I have heard the author speak on several occasions as he lives in my hometown, so am always glad to see when he has a new book out.

Greaney shines bright in the latest Gray Man thriller as Court Gentry, a world class assassin, is caught up in cloak and dagger operations while being a liability and an asset. He has been disavowed, hunted, and forgiven but he is being tracked by multiple threats and he must prove his worth yet again.
Poison Apple is an off the books, blacker than black, hidden from almost everyone group, but when a former government employee unleashes a monitoring application that links all United States intelligence employees into a facial recognition database that gives real time location updates, no one can hide. Gentry is thrust into action by his handler, even after the ending of One Minute Out has him a little worse for wear. Not operating at 100% and in the thick of it again, Gentry is a hero of a lot of things, but luck sides with him a few times. A small battle in South America followed by a jaunt across the pond to assist in the monitoring of some less than stellar company is just the beginning of this classic Greaney Gray Man thriller. In the way this story saddles up, Gentry’s team is challenged time and time again, battling through city streets of Germany, while those who seem to be allies aren’t always are who they say they are. The super spy vibe with a side of Gray Man ruthlessness makes Relentless a top read of 2021 and a definite must read.

Another great addition to the Gray Man series. This one was definitely relentless from start to finish. Greaney is a master at bringing all the action and keeping you on the edge of your seat the entire time. I especially like how he continues to develop his characters with each book. Court Gentry has changed a lot since the first book but every step along the way has been believable. Likewise, every book’s adventures have been exciting additions each time. I always clear my day when a new Gray Man book releases as I know I’ll binge it straight through! Once again, that was the case. The only complaint I have is that I have to wait again for the next installment!

From Venezuela to Europe to the Middle East, Mark Greaney takes the reader on a wild ride with Court Gentry behind the wheel in RELENTLESS.

With the superb writing the Greaney has continuously produced, he has crafted Gentry in the perfect weapon and delivered realistic, pulse-pounding plots that make the pages fly by all too quickly. A new character hops on board with Court, and together, they help form the Poison Apple team, along with some help from characters we’ve met before. You see Court’s past rear its ugly head, which weaves in pieces we’ve learned from the earlier Gray Man novels.

As I’ve came to learn with Greaney’s novels, it is difficult to find a book to read after completing one of his thrillers. The ending always leaves you wanting another high octane book, and it’s a rarity to find one with as much action and adventure packed between the covers.

Although I believe the word “Gray” should be spelled “Grey” (shoutout to my Canadian family), this was still an easy 5-star thriller. Now I just need to find which novel I can follow RELENTLESS up with. Great thriller!

When Mark Greaney releases a new thriller, we know its going to be phenomenal. Greaney is one of the authors who has set the bar high in the thriller universe; all in a genre with already established heavy hitters. Greaney has carved his own niche in this thriller genre with his wildly successful Gray Man series, and his latest novel in this series, Relentless, has only cemented his ranking in the thriller world. Greaney is knows for his intricate plots and blistering action sequences, and because of this, he has created such an avid reader base who hangs on every word and anxiously awaits the latest installment of the Gray Man.

In Greaneys’ tenth novel in the Gray Man series, Relentless, Court Gentry is tasked to scoop up a missing CIA agent who resurfaces in Venezuela. However, the CIA and Gentry are not the only group who are interested in nabbing this wayward American. After getting caught up with this group, Court finds himself in their crosshairs, and he must avoid them while trying to unravel this convoluted mission with international implications.

We also meet up with Zoya Zakharova, who while trying to obtain her objective, pings on the radar of an entity who wishes to do her harm. Court and Zoya try to unravel all the pieces of this perplexing international mission, all while evading two groups who are bent on their demise. Over time, as both groups learn who it is they are hunting, the stakes are high as they strive to be the one to take out the infamous Gray Man.

Greaney picks up about three weeks after the ending of book nine, and this is about the most vulnerable we have ever seen Court. In past novels, Court has been chased, shot at, and dragged through everything imaginable. However, do to the events of book nine, Court is left fighting for his life in a whole new way. Court Gentry must fight his way through not only the physical barriers thrown at him, but also through the battle the rages inside him. This will call on Gentry to be relentless if he wants to survive this latest mission.

I can’t recommend Relentless enough! Mark Greaney delivers a high speed action thriller novel that hits all the right notes. We get the intricacies of an international thriller with the high octane action sequences...a perfect combination!

If you had to choose just one word to describe Courtland Gentry, aka The Gray Man, what would it be? Several words that come to mind include lethal, indefatigable, extraordinary, invincible, formidable and crazy. But maybe the best word to describe Gentry is Relentless, the title of the 10th publication in the Gray Man series by the equally relentless Mark Greaney, who continues to churn out top notch thrillers year after year.

Relentless takes the reader around the world, from the US to Venezuela to Germany and the UAE. Gentry is still recovering from wounds sustained on his last mission when he’s forced into action on what appears to be a “simple” mission to gather intelligence from a rogue former-NSA agent. However, as you might expect, things are much more complicated than they seem. Gentry, along with fellow Poison Apple assets Zoya Zakharova and Zack Hightower, must unravel and thwart a dangerous false flag operation that promises to bring chaos and destruction to US concerns in an effort to start a war that would reshape the Middle East’s power structure.

It’s cliché to say that an author’s latest book is their best yet, but if Relentless isn’t Mark Greaney’s best book to date it’s damn close. It has all the usual hallmarks of a Gray Man thriller – fast paced, packed with action from start to finish, impossible odds and dire consequences. It also has realistic, complex geopolitical motivations and implications that show previous allies can always turn into future foes. But what really makes this book awesome is Gentry’s vulnerability. I’m not sure we’ve seen his health this fragile before, which combined with multiple lethal operators coming at him throughout the book makes him quite susceptible to mission failure and possible, seemingly certain, death. However, he’s still the Gray Man. And half a Gray Man, especially with a little help from his friends, is still better than almost anyone else in the world.

This book is good. Really good. Ridiculously good. If I had to choose one word to describe how good Relentless is, it’d have to be something like incredible, marvelous, wonderful, outstanding, awesomesauce or amazeballs. So yeah, you could say I loved this book. In summary, this book is a world class thriller and a must read for all fans of the genre.

RELENTLESS, the tenth in the Gray Man series by Mark Greaney, works as a stand alone thriller, but why would you want to miss out on the enjoyment of the series by reading only one book? I’ve read them all and while there are some weaker episodes, as a group it is difficult to find a more engaging and electrifying series. Our protagonist is back and forth, between life as a covert government sanctioned assassin and one operating by his own wits and ethics. Although, his government handlers might argue he’s always a loose cannon, despite his lethal capacity. This particular episode has a distinctly Tom Clancy vibe going for it; there are a number of distinct groups moving on the field of action. Each group may or may not be working for the state they believe hired them. All will find themselves, ultimately, in one final, explosive meet-up with our hero in Berlin. The international city of spies. What could be better? We have reason to believe there will be more additions to the series, and I, for one, cannot wait. After reading this book, you will agree. I received my copy from the publisher through NetGalley.

Relentless, the latest novel from super author Mark Greaney is exactly that. The plot starts at a fast pace and doesn't slow down right up until the blockbuster ending which leaves the reader eagerly anticipating the next book. The re-introduction of the other members of the Poison Apple team made this book even better. Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys a good thriller

Amazing story. Well developed characters that are in a twisted engrossing thriller. Highly recommended. Super suspense that comes to a satisfying end! Highly recommended . A true roller coaster thrill ride. Another great Grey man story

Court Gentry has been one of my favorite good guys, and the new novel Relentless continues the game. Author Mark Greaney does his usual job of creating interesting characters and suspenseful situations. If I have a complaint, it would be more of a suggestion. The novel needs to be tightened up.. There is material that contributes little. But overall, Greaney knows what he is doing.
Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC.

Reading Mark Greaney is generally a pleasure since he's a solid pro when it comes to large-scale international thrillers. That said, I'm beginning to wonder if that kind of thing is just going out of style. When Clancy and Ludlum were the masters of the genre, it was still fresh and exciting, but we live in a vastly different world now and the near-superhuman assassin conducting a one-man crusade against his and his country's enemies seems out of step with who we are these days.

Reading RELENTLESS, it all felt... well, too familiar, as if I had read it or something very much like it before. Worse, the narrative felt a little old, a bit stale and tired. Greaney still does this kind of thing better than anyone. I've just wondering if anyone should be doing it at all.

Five stars for Greaney; three stars for the narrative; and you end up with (a reluctant) four stars.

I don’t know how Greaney does it over and over. The intricate plots; the nonstop action; the highly detailed characters that work perfectly together. This story never lets up from the time you begin it to the big, fat suspended swivel at the end.

This story was a trip. There were so many twists and turns I honestly lost track of who was manipulating whom and what country was implicating others and masterminding all of the terror. So many dirty hands in the pot.

One thing is undoubtedly clear and that is this author has created a fantastic series that will have to live on for years to come. No matter how many times you read about the Gray Man it never gets old. It’s certainly never boring and you can’t help getting so involved in the fast pace you do not want to stop reading.

Not only is the Gray Man kick ass in this story again, but Zach and Zoya are there in many of these heart-pounding situations. From the US to Venezuela to Germany to Dubai, the world is getting smaller and these operators are the best of the best working to save the good from the evil or at least minimize the threat and fallout.

With characters you love to hate and others that feel so real, Relentless is a novel of huge proportions that builds as it goes to a massive explosion of complex action then leaves you in high anticipation of what’s to come. Greaney is truly a master of black ops details, exceptional creativity, and a storyteller like none other.

Relentless is a word that can easily describe both the protagonist and the author who brings him to life on the page.

In his 10th Gray Man novel, MARK GREANEY does not disappoint and has crafted another high paced, actioned pack thriller that keep readers engrossed in the increasingly dire circumstances Court Gentry and his team finds themselves in.

RELENTLESS takes us from the outskirts of Caracas to the very heart of power in Germany, with stops across the Middle East.

Still recovering in a CIA hospital bed, the Gray Man is sent out by his handlers to track down a former NSA employee who made off with an all powerful facial recognition program capable of outing any and all U.S. intelligence officers. From there things only get more complex and dangerous, both physically and emotionally, as a variety of intelligence services and their shooters see shifting alliances change from moment to moment. Just when you think you have it sorted out, Greaney fires a plot twist that will have you scrambling to identify the real danger.

The only way the Poison Apple team will survive is to band together and continue to track down their targets and unravel the parties responsible. All that matters is the end result. They cannot let exhaustion, illness, or wounds stop them from achieving their goals. In other words, they must be... RELENTLESS

Thank you to @NetGalley for an advance copy of this book for an honest review. This is book number ten in the Gray Man series. It revolves around Court Gentry racing to Argentina to bring in a CIA asset thought to be dead, but really has just gone rouge. Meanwhile, Zoya is in Berlin infiltrating a group that has ties to a rich benefactor. Court ends up in Berlin with Zoya as he tries to protect her while trying to figure out how his and Zoya’s missions are linked. To round things out the third wheel of the Poison Apple team, Zack Hightower, pops up in both locations.

As with any Gray Man novel there is no shortage of action. I think the action is better then anything else out there. Of the thriller/spy series I read, none of them have the amount of action that Mr. Greaney brings to his novels. I also really enjoy the way he develops his characters and how they continue to grow. Court Gentry is a much different person from the Gray Man we saw in book one. The characters have great storylines, and their situations are constantly changing. I feel like you learn a little more each book in the series. The other thing I really like about The Gray Man and Mr. Greany’s books is that they are somewhat realistic. Court does amazing things, but he also gets beat up along the way. It is fascinating how Mr. Greaney makes Court’s injuries a part of the story. It isn’t just the Gray Man walking into a room of twenty assassins and coming out unharmed.

Overall this is an action packed thriller that is worth picking up whether you have read all the books in the series, or this is your first one. Mr. Greaney doesn’t disappoint, and he sets up an interesting next book in the series with how he closes Relentless. Overall an easy five stars.

Relentless, the new Gray Man book from Mark Greaney, is exactly that. Relentless. Relentless can be used to define Court Gentry's personality as well as the pacing of the book. The plot is complex but never feels out of touch. Court rates near the top of the list as a badass, beating out many other badasses. Court has a few friends show up to help him from earlier books, which he needs more than a few times. One of my favorite series, Mr Greaney knows how to write a thriller and Relentless is no exception.

I received this book through "NetGalley" and the publisher. I have read this author through his "Jack Ryan" novels and I was not disappointed with this ook.

The story begins with a Contract employee for the CIA, Zack, going to Venezuela to spy on an individual. Once he began his task, he was quickly arrested by the authorities and put into prison. Court Gentry also a contract employee was sent to Venezuela to do the same. Court in this instance was able to meet up with the individual before a firefight with unknowns took place. Court got some info, but was unable to complete his mission. He next went to Berlin to backup Zoya, another contract employee of the CIA. Her mission was to gather info on a Intelligence Agency that was located in Berlin. She ran into difficulties from another group who wanted her killed. She managed to escape and was able to get Zack released from prison.

All 3 of the individuals were paint of a group called "Poison Apple". This group became involved in trying to thwart a plot which would cause a major war.

To discover how all of this played out, then you must read this story. The ending is well done and finally identifies all of the individuals involved, and who the mastermind behind this intended war was.
