This is the third book I have read by this author and I hope he continues with this series. Not only is it informative to children, adults could learn alot too. This is the story of Aunt Cassie, Mom, Ryan and Reese. Mom and the children are going to California to visit with Aunt Cassie. Though they have heard of the drought but have never seen it up close and personal. This book is very accurate and tells of the effects on wildlife and the land. Living in California and having been through many wildfires I can say the drought is real. I find this book in comic book form very appealing to children ages 7 and up.

An informative and entertaining Children's Book!

Drought Daze told the story of a family visiting their Aunt's farm during a drought. This book talked about the various types of droughts and how they affect farmers, animals, and the environment. The tidbits of "Did You Know'?" throughout the book were very nice as well because it mixed educational facts with the story. I think this will be a hit with Children once it is released!

In this children’s comic, we follow a family as they visit their aunt at her ranch in California. We learn that California is going through a drought but the children aren’t really sure what that means. Through the comics, the aunt explains what a drought is, how it is affecting those in the area, and what they do when one occurs.

This book was extremely educational and I loved the way it was presented as a comic in order to capture a child’s attention. There are weather vocabulary terms used throughout the book which are explained as they are brought up. At the end of the book, there is a glossary that includes words such as atmosphere, evaporate, climate, etc. There is also a list of additional books that discuss droughts if you want to explore further after reading this book. The book is around 32 pages long.

I think this would be a nice book to use when introducing climate and weather as it takes the time to explain some terms you’ll see when researching this topic. This book is intended for children around grades 2 or 3 and I would definitely agree with that. The terms and subject matter are at a higher level than those and younger grades would understand and I don’t think children that are older would be interested because they begin to read longer books. I personally wasn’t a big fan of the art style but that just might be my personal taste.

There are other books in the Weather Warriors series that involve different types of weather. I would definitely recommend them if you enjoyed this book as they are by the same author and illustrator. I think I cool idea if you were reading these books to students would be to have them draw their own comic involving the weather.

Definitely recommend for those interested in a science comic!

Reasonable, but not earth-shaking, graphic novel primer for droughts, with the obvious focus on water conservation. This, like the other two in this series I've been witness to, will let the very young into these pages – with art designed to look like it was from someone barely able to draw a human face, and facts that would not look out of place on a young author's essay sheet. Schools in the American SW may consider this, for everyone elsewhere one whole book about climate systems and weather types would suffice in replacing the entire series.
