Thank you NetGalley and the author, Ellery Kane for an advanced copy of this book. The comments and review are my honest opinion.
Psychologist Olivia Rockwell and Detective Will Decker have been called to a home where a mummified corpse of a young woman has been found entombed in a barrel in the basement. Rumors have swirled about this house for years and it is up to Olivia and Will to investigate the truth and find the long ago killer. A killer that will do anything to keep all the secrets buried. This is an enjoyable, fast paced thriller that is the second book featuring Olivia and Will and I look forward to reading more of this series.

BLOG TOUR REVIEW

Review for 'Her Perfect Bones' by Ellery Kane.

Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Bookouture publishers and Bookouture anonymous

Publication date 16th February 2021

This is the second book I have read by Ellery Kane and it is also the second book in her 'Rockwell and Deckerv series. The first book I read by Ellery is the first in the series' 'Watch her Vanish' which I really enjoyed. This book can be read as a standalone.

I was originally drawn to this book by its beautiful eye catching cover and its intriguing synopsis and title. I am a fan of Ellery Kane so am looking forward to see if it lives up to her normal high standards. It also stated in the synopsis that this book is for fans of Melinda Leigh who I am a MASSIVE fan of so am looking forward to see if it loves up to this. I must admit I was also biased due to the publisher being Bookouture. I have yet to read a book published by Bookouture that I haven't enjoyed. Hopefully this won't be the first... Watch this space! (Written before I started reading the book).

This novel consists of a prologue, 88 chapters, 10 lots of scripts/reports and an epilogue. The chapters are short to medium in length so possible to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!

This book is based in the USA 🇺🇸.

This book is written in third person perspective and the main protagonists are Detective Will Decker and Criminal Psychologist Oliver Rockwell. The benefits of third person perspective are that it let's you see the bigger picture of what's going on and you get to know more characters more, what they are thinking and what they are doing. It feels like you get to see the whole picture and not miss out on anything.

Another very well written and gripping novel by Ellery Kane. The vivid descriptions fitted the settings perfectly. The cover and synopsis worked perfectly with the storyline. I loved the various settings and the scripts and reports which were well placed throughout giving us a view of what the outside world is seeing as well as some insight information from the police's side on some of the characters.

The storyline itself was quite a unique one and filled with action, mystery, suspense crime, drama and a few sparks of what could be which kept me reading until late at night and on the edge of my seat. There were loads of red herrings throughout to keep the reader guessing. I never did guess who did what which is a huge achievement for any author for me as I have read so many crime novels it's getting harder and harder to surprise me. I enjoyed that the book ends on a sort of cliffhanger with Olivia as it entices the readers to look forward to the next book.

I absolutely loved meeting all the characters again and some new ones too. They are all excellent strong characters and I enjoyed that there was a strong female lead in Olivia and I also really liked Will and JD's characters. I loved that there was some humour in between to lighten things up a little and I look forward to reading more about the characters. I also enjoyed watching the relationships develop even more between characters and am interested to see where they all lead in what promises to be another fantastic book in this gripping series.

Overall an action packed and suspense filmed crime thriller that will keep you on edge and guessing throughout.

Genres covered in this novel include Romance Novel, Thriller, Mystery, Suspense, Psychological Thriller, Hardboiled, Noir Fiction, Psychological Fiction, Police Procedural, Crime Fiction and Medical Fiction amongst others.

I would recommend this book to the fans of the above as well as

380 pages.

This book is just £1.99 to purchase on kindle via Amazon which I think is an absolute bargain for this book!!!

Rated 5/5 (I LOVED it ) on Goodreads, Instagram, Amazon UK and Amazon US and on over 30 Facebook pages plus my blog on Facebook.

This is the second book in Ellery Kane's Rockwell and Decker series. Olivia is a criminal psychologist and Will is a detective in the lovely town of Fog Harbor, California. In the first book, we learned a lot of backstory about these characters, but more details are revealed in this book.
Will is trying to figure out who killed a young girl thirty-five years ago. Olivia is knee-deep in the investigation, offering her professional opinions regarding the killer's motive. She is also rather reckless and doesn't really listen to Will( or anyone else)when he advises her to stay out of harm's way. These two have a strong connection, but something always seems to get in the way of it progressing. There are a surprising number of potential suspects and both Olivia and Will's personal demons continue to rise to the surface.
An engaging whodunnit and while there is resolution regarding the central mystery, there are still breadcrumbs left behind that I am sure will play a part in the next book(s). I would recommend reading this series in order, as the first book left some threads dangling too.

Her Perfect Bones is an enjoyable murder mystery featuring Prison Psychologist Olivia Rockwell and Detective Will Decker; and whilst it's the second book in Ellery A. Kane's Rockwell and Decker series, it can be read as a stand alone, and that's what I did and happily I never once felt at a disadvantage having not read the first.

And with an intriguing storyline, charismatic characters, and a 35-year-old murder mystery that certainly kept me reading, yet not necessarily guessing I was engaged throughout; and I'd happily pick up the first book in the series along with any future books released.

Her Perfect Bones by Ellery A. Kane is the second book in this author's Rockwell and Decker series. This is a chilling thriller. It kept me turning the pages. Detective Will Decker is working again with Dr. Olivia Rockwell. The two of them work well together. This is an interesting series. I look forward to more books in the series.

I received an ARC in return for an honest review.

While this is the second book in the series, I was not lost. It grabbed me from page one. I will go back and read book one ( just for my own OCD). Good story with great characters and I can’t wait for more.

This is a great addition to the series. An absorbing read which is well written and we'll paved. Loved seeing the development of the characters. Looking forward to reading more.

This is the second in the series but in no way means you must read the first to get a better understanding. This book gets 4 stars out of 5 from me because it grabs you from page one and keeps you entertained. It has family secrets, murder, mystery, and everything else to ensure your reading a great book .

Thank you netgalley as well as the author p/publisher for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest review.

As soon as this book started it grabbed me and didn't let go til the end. I loved how they had to figure out who this body was and to learn her story. There was a surprise in every chapter, learning the back story of Olivia and her father's relationship. I found myself really loving that part of the book a lot.

I started reading this book slowly so it wouldn't end. I can't wait to read the next book, I hope there is a next book.

This is the first time i have read anything by Ellery Kane and I know it won't be the last time. She is an author to watch.

Thank you for the letting me read this book #HerPerfectBones #NetGalley

This second book in the series is every bit as good as the previous book. The male and female main characters tell the story from their different viewpoints, and it was quite easy to transition from one to the other without confusion. I’m hoping a romance develops there. This book is fast-paced with many twists. Just about the time I think I figured it out, something happened to throw me off. I recommend this book to anyone liking fast-moving thrillers with no sex scenes. I received an arc of this book from NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions expressed are my own.

My thanks, to Bookoutre, Ellery A. Kane and Netgalley.
I had a few issues with this story. There were so many sidestories going on! Yet, that's not something to distract me too much. I also realize that this is the second in this series..Again, I still don't feel like I missed out from not reading the first book.
No, what I finally noticed was that I was kinda falling for Olivia and Decker.
They are mad for each other, yet reluctant to admit it! Cute! But, both are brave as anything, and they do stupid things to find the "big bad."
I kept thinking of Karin Slaughters "Jeffrey Tolliver" characters. Why? I'm still not sure! Had Kane been a bit more hardcore and bloody minded?
What I do know is that I really liked this story!
Sadly, I have again found another series to read! When is enough, enough! When author's who are new to me, ✋ stop publishing good books!
Yeah! I liked this one. A lot!

When I picked this book from Netgalley I didn't realize it was from a series and I didn't read the first book. It was an okay book - thank you to Netgalley for giving me a copy.

This is a new series for me. I would recommend reading the first book in the series since the second book refers to many things in the main characters’ pasts. These books are not stand alone, in my opinion. I can’t quite figure out what’s really going on between Olivia and Deck, but the potential is there. The descriptions were crisp it was like standing over each person’s shoulders as event unfolded. I liked the banter between JB and Deck. I had it figured out by the halfway mark of the book, the pieces snapped into place. My favorite character is Chief Flack. The dressing down scene is one of the best in the book. I think this series is promising and hopefully I can read the next installment.

Olivia and Deck are back in the second book of this new series and it's even better than the first. The case they are wound up in is dark and full of suspense. Just when you think you have it figured out, you really don't.
The characters are great. There is more development in this story. Not only with our main characters, but all the side ones as well. I love JB. I'm very intrigued by Ben as well.
The plots involving Olivia and Deck's family are continuing to unfold. I have become completely invested in their outcome. There were several stunning revelations as well as a deeper dive into their pasts.
The slow burn romance between Olivia and Deck is full of chemistry. There were so many times I wanted to reach into the pages and shake them. While I am enjoying the way things are building instead of insta love, I really hope the author doesn't draw it out to the point it just gets old. There is a lot of potential there for some great scenes. I also can't wait to see what happens to their working relationship.
I was so immersed in the book that I immediately wanted the next one. This series is a great escape!

Olivia and Decker at it again trying to solve a murder. This time, of a young pregnant girl found mummified in a barrel of sand after 35 years. Sparks fly between Olivia and Deck but they keep a professional relationship. Subplots involving Olivia’s father and Deck’s brother nicely woven into the story. I enjoy the banter between Deck and his partner, JB. I was a bit surprised at how quickly the Oaktown Boys gave up on Olivia. Good mystery. I hope there will be more from Ellery Kane on Olivia and Decker! I received a free ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

An engaging decades old murder mystery of a 17 year old girl. In 1985 a young pregnant girl gets on a bus leaving her family behind and travels to Fog Harbor thinking she was going to make a big change in her life. Now 35 years later her body is found encased in a barrel in an old abandoned cabin where is had sat all this time for someone to find and her story could be told.

Homicide detective Will Decker has just moved into the cabin next door and is first on the scene. He and his partner JB are assigned the case and Will eventually enlist Criminal Psychologist Olivia Rockwell to help. The investigation was fascinating and each clue just lead to more suspects and questions.

This being the second book in the series there were many things continued on from the first book. Olivia and her sister Emily still reeling from revelations about their father are dealt a heartbreaking blow which in turns leads to more questions and revelations.

Will also has many past demons he is still fighting along with his ever growing attraction to Emily. We get more info about his incarcerated brother when he has to be moved to the prison Olivia practices at for his safety.

Along with Will and Olivia the series has a rather large group secondary characters which provide plenty of humor. I'm really enjoying this series and look forward to more.
