I was so excited to get an opportunity to read this highly acticipated suspense thriller by a homegrown canadian author.

My thoughts (they are still raw)

* the Ending- mind blown- love that is wasnt happy, it was messy full of loose ends and possibilities. I Wish more writers would do this. I Saw the ending coming but I didn’t yet understand the how and why which kept my eyes glued to the page. Talk about building anticipation.
* The trope of Unrequited love, forbidden love had a new twist, totally taboo it added to the twisted psychological aspect of this book
* The amnesia and gambling was a good distractor from the actual crimes being committed. It left me doubting myself at the beginning as I was expertly driven of course by the author

Such an amazing read!!! Do yourself a favour and pick it up. It is psychologically messed up, dark, twisted, and sooo bingeworthy.
Highly recommend!!

I just finished YOU WILL REMEMBER ME and I believe it is her BEST one yet. McKinnon has written one of the darkest, most psychopathic characters I’ve ever met. I could never have guessed the killer’s motive; it was surprising and CREEPY. Out May 25th!!

Hannah Mary McKinnon enlists a trio of narrators to unleash her latest thriller. "You Will Remember Me" begins in the most unusual of places. A man wakes up on the beach at night, cold, with no memory of how he got there.
Meanwhile, a young woman, Lily, wakes up and realizes her boyfriend, Jack, of a year and a half has gone. Could it be the guy on the beach? Well, he doesn't know; he has no memory.
Man on the beach makes his way to a small New England town and hides from the police. He ends up at a store and is recognized as Ash, a local guy.
Let's call Ash's sister Maya. She'll know what to do.
Days later, Lily travels to a town many miles away to discover Jack is really Ash. He doesn't remember her, or anything for that matter.
Creepy sister Maya is very possessive and wants her stepbrother left alone.
McKinnon weaves a triple told tale from three writing perspectives, digging into past lives and secret obsessions.
The finale will catch the reader completely by surprise and leave them sucker punched.
You won't forget this tantalizing tale of amnesia and its deadly collision of Lily, Maya and Ash.

This is wild, engaging, fast pacing, riveting, disturbing ride!

It seems like 3.5 starred reading: I have to gather my honest opinions to decide between 3 and 4 stars!

Pros:
The book started fast with an intriguing but not so original man from suffering amnesia who has dark past, hiding secrets about himself plot line!

After the impressive opening, the progression of the story was quite moving, action packed.
Lily waits for her boyfriend bring breakfast from their favorite pancake place. When he doesn’t show up, she realizes something must be wrong! He isn’t at his home and his car is found abandoned at the beachside. He’s missing. Is he dead? But when the police involves in his case, they find out his ID is fake. And this is not the only thing he lied to her. At the meantime Jack finds himself passed out at the deserted beach of Maryland. He remembers a phone number which helps him reach out his step sister who tells him she didn’t hear from him for two years and his name is Asher. So far I was really hooked!

Tension building was seriously captivating, exciting, heart pounding. You never want to put it down the book, flipping pages nonstop, trying to learn how this madness will wrap up!

Conclusion of the story was madly satisfying and smart!

Cons:
The story narrated by three POVs : amnesiac man/ Asher who suffers from anger management problems, Lily seems like obsessive lover of Asher but she thinks his name is Jack and stepsister Maya who is way too much intense, neurotic and obsessed with her stepbrother.

I honestly hated all of the characters! All of them keep terrible secrets. Both women are irritatingly obsessed with Asher who seems like biggest douchebag. It was impossible to feel sorry for any of them. That’s why I loved the conclusion so much!

The twists are so foreseeable from miles away. The characters give themselves away! Only one thing about Lily at the end was not predictable! It was quiet surprising!

The mystery behind the amnesia of Asher was also not a big mystery. It was also pretty obvious from the beginning.

But at the end I’m still rounding up 3.5 stars to 4 because I enjoy story telling skills of the author and some parts of the book was pretty wild, moving. The pacing kept my attention intact. It’s quick entertaining ride, such a great popcorn reading!

Looking forward to read more works of the author!

Special thanks to Netgalley and HARLEQUIN/ MIRA for sharing this digital reviewer copy with me in exchange my honest opinions.

Imagine waking up with a head wound on a deserted beach, cold, and suffering from retrograde amnesia. Jack Smith, one of the main characters in the psychological suspense thriller, You Will Remember Me, finds himself in this unsettling predicament. I was drawn into the plot from the very beginning. Who is Jack and how did he end up in a small coastal town in Maryland? How will he find out who he really is? The story unfolds through his foggy perspective alternating with those of his lover, Lily Reid, and Maya Scott, a woman whose link to Jack is gradually revealed. Deception, lies, tension, and suspense are skillfully interwoven throughout.
Lily becomes alarmed at Jack's sudden disappearance. Because he had told her he had no family or close friends, or even no credit cards, she has little to go on to try to find him. Serendipity leads Jack to make his way to Newdale, Maine. As bits and pieces of his memory flash through his mind, he tries to find out more of the person he used to be. An unsettling and persistent thought runs through his mind: when his memory returns, will he like the person he used to be? Lily sets out to follow the few clues left behind in Jack's apartment. Her determination and doggedness eventually pay off as she herself ends up in Newdale and gets closer to finding Jack. Her shady past includes being banished from her family for reasons she hasn't disclosed to anyone. Yet she is determined to turn her life around and do what's right. When she encounters Maya, the tension is ratcheted up as the latter's deception and mental state escalate.
What makes this novel such a page-turner is that the main characters have deep, dark secrets which come to haunt them until the explosive and unexpected ending. I was left gasping and had to read the conclusion again because it was one of the most unforgettable endings I have ever read. You will remember this book long after you've finished it.

Let me start by saying I love a Hannah Mary McKinnon book. She’s a great writer, and I never have to DNF her books because she’s just that good. This was a good book, it just wasn’t one of my favorites. I found it to be really predictable, which never works well for me. I don’t want to know who the bad guy is from the beginning. Not in a book anyway. It was painfully obvious who the evil culprit was once this particular character entered the scene. The ending felt rushed, and I would’ve loved reading about everything unraveling more. I will say that the ending was completely unpredictable but it ruined the whole book for me. I know I’m in the minority not loving this book and as always please try it out for yourself! Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for this ARC.

This was so good! One of my favorite thrillers. I thought I knew how it was going to end and then bam last minute twist! I couldn't put it down. I enjoyed that the story was told from three character perspectives and I really feel like helped balance out and complete the story. Thank you Netgalley for the ARC trade for an honest review!

A man awakens on a Maryland beach with a head injury and no memory of how he came to be there, or even, for certain, who he is. He attempts to find answers by returning to his home in Maine, but what he finds there will only deepen his confusion, as two women, one claiming to be his girlfriend, the other his stepsister both identify him as Jack and Asher, respectively. Both women say their missing loved one disappeared disappeared without a trace. Is one of them lying? Or are they both telling the truth?
